    Continental breakfast and snack bar

Leaving Hotel Giraffe was like leaving a good friend's house--a place where you're comfortable and welcome, and when it's time to go, you're already planning your return. We couldn't have been better located in Midtown within easy walking distance (2-20 minutes, depending on your fitness and level of tolerance for a 100-degree heat wave) of subway stations, the best bagel I've ever had (Bagel & Shmear), Chelsea, Broadway, Midtown ferry, Greenwich Village, and Central Park. The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating to the point we were showing each other pictures of our daily adventures. Our standard double room with a balcony was spacious (relative to other rooms I've been in), immaculately cleaned each day, and air conditioned! The continental breakfast and counter of fruit, coffee, water, and Clif and Loacker bars were convenient and well-stocked. The lobby seating is plentiful and arranged for groups of different sizes to sit for a spell over breakfast or a snack. Unfortunately, it was either raining or too darn hot to use our balcony or visit the rooftop garden. Another time, I hope. I regret that I couldn't give the Giraffe the full 5 stars, but the room lacked a few features that are standard these days: * no fan in the bathroom (making it a sauna after a shower or a bit funky after a bowel movement--not ideal in a heat wave) (travel tip: lighting a match cuts the odor immediately) * no refrigerator (a challenge for keeping water cold and leftovers edible in a heat wave), but available on request; and * no charging ports, which was more noticeable to us because the number of electric outlets were limited. Apparently they are planning renovations, so I'll be back, and maybe I can give the Giraffe the 5 stars it deserves, especially since the rates and fees are comparable to other Big Apple accommodations.

Excellent accommodations and location, with doorman. We walked to Starbucks and also all around d Madison Park, which is a lovely park 2 blocks away. Each morning the hotel has complimentary coffee, lattes, cappuccino, espressos, hard boiled eggs, delicious bagels with butter or cream cheese, cereals, bananas, fresh 100% orange juice, oranges , apples , water with fresh lemon -- pastries and in the evening snacks. Hotel room 804 was nice and spacious, we were very pleased HIGHLY ENJOYED AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I love this hotel! I have never been able to sleep while traveling--all night I usually lie awake and toss and turn. For some unknown reason, I slept like a baby at Hotel Giraffe. Every single night. We had a balcony room and we enjoyed having the door open during the day to hear the city sounds and get fresh air. The hotel has a homey feel to it, right down to the books and live potted plants in our room. The day we arrived the bellhop/doorman gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations for restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The one thing I was disappointed about was most of the reviews I had read mentioned the breakfast and happy hour. These are no longer offered, which I assume is due to Covid. However, there are always snacks and beverages available in the lobby. I will definitely stay at Hotel Giraffe again.

I noticed this stylish boutique hotel on a cab drive to the airport a few years ago and made a mental note to check it out sometime. Well, I got my opportunity recently when a work-related trip came up, and the company travel agent asked me where I wanted to stay. "Oh, how about the Giraffe?" I said with conviction even though I had no idea what it would be like. I knew the NoMad location was attractive because it was close enough to walk to the office, and it was nice to be close to Madison Square Park and the Flatiron District because it was too damn cold to trek much further. My quiet, spacious room was on the fifth floor with a queen bed and balcony. Not much of a view but who's complaining for $246 per night? There was not only a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning but also complimentary wine and cheese in the evening. However, what really struck me was the exceptional service, especially the bellman who got me a cab to the airport without me asking. There were first-rate dining options close by like Upland across the street and the exceptional 24-hour bistro L'Express a few blocks south (review: http://bit.ly/2Bk6Zxg). This Giraffe is worth sticking your neck out for. Rimshot please. RELATED - Here a collection of New York City hotels I've tried and reviewed: http://bit.ly/2OfTYZr

My expectations were exceeded by Hotel Giraffe! I was in the city on business and this hotel came highly recommended by my colleagues. I now see why. To start, the rooms are very spacious for NYC and even have a small balcony. I LOVED the blinds that automatically go up and down with the push of a button by the bed, along with the turndown service, live plants in the room, and bathroom amenities. To top it off, they have a small rooftop with a bar, complimentary wine "hour" from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (with cheese!), and a basic continental breakfast is also included. The Flatiron location is minutes away from Madison Square Park and central for your Manhattan adventures. There are tons of restaurants around and even a restaurant in the same building as this hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was super clean. I would definitely love to come back here and would recommend checking it out for your next trip!

Great natural light in the morning, coming in from the balcony. And a comfy chair to enjoy it.

One thing to note: the hotel sits right above a sports bar, so it can get noisy when there's a game on. The gym was a low point. The hotel shares its fitness facility with a Planet Fitness, which feels out of place for a mid-tier Marriott -- not quite what you'd expect from the brand.

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.

The Library Hotel is every bit as charming as people say, but what really makes it special is the team. I arrived by car while the building was hidden behind scaffolding, and the front desk was incredibly kind and patient, helping guide me to the loading area so I didn't spend my afternoon circling the block. Housekeeping was so gracious and helpful throughout my stay, the bartender at Bookmarks very kindly helped my friend carry our drinks down to the room, and checkout took less than 30 seconds. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The themed rooms are such a fun touch (I loved seeing how each one was inspired by a different subject), but I also have to give a shout-out to the practical things. I took a few work video calls from my room on the 12th floor, and the Wi-Fi was ridiculously good - honestly stronger than the Wi-Fi in my own house when I'm sitting five feet from the modem. Not a second of lag. The TV also had a ton of premium channels, which was such a fun surprise after long days exploring the city. And finally, a standing ovation for the real MVP: the air conditioning. New York was basically a sauna while I was there, and every time I walked back into my room I was greeted by the most glorious arctic blast. It was so good that my friends ended up wanting to hang out in my room and order dinner instead of going back out into the heat. Perfect stay from beginning to end. I can't wait to come back.
