Rounding up from 2.5 stars. The location is good and pretty close to 101. The room was pretty quiet. The bed ... the springs have cried their last protest and have died a long time ago. I tried to sleep on the opposite side in hopes of it having a bit of life left. Nope. Still dead. I tried to pretend I was camping and sleeping on the ground and went back to sleep. Some of the sheets and towels have a grayish tint to them. There was some stuff stuck to the ground in the room and it appears the previous occupants have left us some cracker wrappers and the establishment was kind enough to leave them alone for us to find. Well, in all honesty, it's not the best of the best, but, if you are in the area, need something affordable and just need a place to sleep for the night, it'll do. Quiet area with various surrounding options to grab a bite to eat or some coffee. Just be mindful, bring your toiletries because there are no shampoo, conditioner or body wash provided in the bathroom. Lots of space to park your car and I like that I had a visual of my car from our room as well. There is an attendant available in the hotel office and in the morning, they provide coffee. Well we stayed here due to the fact that it was last minute and we had a pup with us. And no extra charge for pups. But my goodness, I know why I don't stay in motel 6. Expensive in this city but go 20 miles out towards Lompoc and it is almost 50.00 cheaper. Pretty sure it was expensive because we were so close to Solvang. And that was with AARP discount. Crappy rooms but we were just sleeping anyway. Watched TV on my tablet because we couldn't pull up anything on their TV. Kind of musty smell and darn it not enough water pressure. But the people working there that I interacted with were really nice and pleasant to talk to. The next morning we were packing up gear and headed out. All they offer is what I call dirty coffee. Sheets were dirty which means they weren't changed before we checked in, mold on the bathroom ceiling, heater wasn't working,dirty shower curtain, bathroom light didn't work. I would say you get what you pay for but we paid too much for what we got. This is the first time I don't leave a tip for housekeeping but they're obviously not doing their job. read more

When you first get to the motel it is very dirty trash everywhere outside.then once you get into the room it is REALLY bad. Dirty everywhere,the pillows and blankets have dirt and are stained, the AC is literally busted, and it smells AWFUL when you first go inside. read more

Our stay here was sufficient for one night though not as pleasant an experience as we usually have at other Motel 6 locations. Our room which was booked in advance was not ready upon arrival after the 3:00pm listed check-in time. They gave us a room with two beds in order to accommodate us sooner since we weren't really willing to wait. We needed rest and had places to be on this day. A few things worth noting about the room... the TV remote had no power/volume control, it was only connected to dish to change the channels, so although we could press the power button on the TV itself, there were no volume controls on the TV (which was wrapped in a wooden wall console), and since the volume was set a bit too loud, we had no choice but to just turn it off. Temperature control maxed at 74, which is not a big deal in warmer weather, but for colder evenings, this kind of sucks, especially when they only have thin blankets and sheets on the beds. To top it off, there were bugs inside the room, yes crawling insects on the floor and walls... not a lot, but a few is a few too many. I'm not even sure if they were beetles or baby cockroaches, but I just wanted to get outta there. On the plus side, they have a microwave and vending machines on site, near the front desk office. Also, it's only a 6-minute drive to Solvang just down the road (without needing to get back on the freeway), and they charge half the price of most hotels in the area. Still, there were too many annoying inconveniences during our recent stay for me to give anything more than 2 stars. read more

More like a 2.5. Rooms are clean, but not clean enough for families specifically with upper respiratory concerns. The bathroom vent is bad, and our room had cracks in the sink and needed overhead cleaning. It's nice for construction workers or solo travelers, who made up the majority of guests during our stay. The lighting on the property is better than that of a prison because the white lights pierced in. Costumer service again a 2.5 star rating, bottom line unprofessional both evening and day. The location is good and the prices for a room are very reasonable. The room had pleanty of hot water in the shower and good pressure. So much for the good stuff. The motel sits right on a major road with traffic throughout most of the day and into the night. Adding to that is little to no soundproofing in the room. So between traffic and noisy neighbors it was hard to get a good nights sleep. Add a matress that should have been replaced 10 years ago and tried to swallow you each time you moved and getting any sleep was difficult at best. read more

First, the good: this motel 6 is right off the highway and a very short drive to Solvang. As of 7/8/24, the room we stayed in was updated and clean enough. The tv was adequate and there was WiFi. Lots of parking and check in was quick! Now, the bad: the bed is one of the worst I've ever slept on. The mattress is thin and the bed frame itself is flat and slippery. Anytime you move, the mattress will slip around the frame! You can hear all the noise from the highway. The curtains let in a ton of light. All in all, this is actually one of the better motels I've stayed in, but I did not enjoy it. read more

I was greeted by a hostil Leah who told me my room was not ready . for 3pm check in . After driving 2 hours with a dog I asked when it would be ready . She rudly stated I dont know when ( she was unable to say 10 minutes or 2 hours ) I was suposed to wait an indeterminate about of time . This motel was such a disappointment! We decided to stay a second night in Solvang, but wanted a more affordable option so we found this Motel 6. The room (112, handicap accessible) was extremely small, with no amenities, not even a closet or a dresser. The two beds took up the entire space. I'm not sure how a handicapped person would be able to move around in such a small room. There was no breakfast offered, no tissues or shampoo, and no place to even set a bar of soap in the shower! All in all, there was nothing to recommend it. To add insult to injury, the price was outrageous at $140. read more

I have travelled across the states twice and always stay at Motel 6 due to my pup. Usually decent lodging, however this one is HORRIBLE! Room 102. The bed is so disgustingly uncomfortable. One half is totally broken down. At 1 am I went to front desk to see if they have a roll away. No. Extra blankets for padding? NO!!! She said all the rooms were booked and paid for. This hotel the rooms were pleasant enough however the staff is not very friendly and helpful or creative and finding ways of making things better when they should be not have to in the first place. There's no blow dryers irons or ironing boards in the rooms and then it's a hassle to get them. For the price for these rooms for the area they should have some amenities. Otherwise it's a decent enough place to stay besides the fact that we're way out of the lockdowns and their pool is still closed shows that the owners are idiots but overall it wasn't a bad experience. There was one staff member I forget her name she was actually very nice and she ended up making things right on our room if I knew her name I would give her credit she's the older lady I think might be the manager overseeing the two younger girls that were at the front that had no business sense. read more

We stayed here while we attended the ucsb graduation back in June, everywhere else was booked so we had to come here :( When we first walked in the room, everything looked fine & neat. Then we started to look at the sheets closely & saw that it was so dirty, it had shoe marks all over it & random pieces of hair... The shower was tiny and gross with some pieces of hair on tub. The towels that they provided smelled awfully like bleach! The floors were laminated, so it was very dirty since I doubt they mopped it, please wear your shoes if you do come here. We got a queen sized bed but it felt so tiny, the mattress was definitely not comfortable and the pillows have stain marks all over! Don't think I'll ever stay here again!! please don't book last minute like us or you'll be forced to stay here! read more

Not bad at all, especially considering it's a Motel 6. Check in was easy and the employee was polite and helpful, same with check out. I have no complaints about the cleanliness of the room. I found the bed to be very comfortable, I saw a reviewer say they were uncomfortable and I strongly disagree. The price for the room was the lowest in the area. On the down side, the room was extremely small but I literally got there, went to sleep, woke up and left so I just needed a bed. The major drawback was the noise. There was just no noise protection from the room next door, it sounded like we were in the same room. Same for the outside. I'm the morning I could see huge gaps of daylight shining around the door to the outside, it sounded like the window was open but it wasn't. My room faced the 101 which made the noise issue especially bad. I always bring earplugs when I travel so when I combined them with the white noise from the ac I was totally fine. If I had not had my earplugs though I would have been MISERABLE!! The noise was extreme! read more

Stayed here for 1 night on a weekday for $69 while en route to the Bay Area. I feel that this motel did the job of providing my boyfriend and I with a place to sleep and shower. The room was smaller than other Motel 6 rooms I've been to, but it has a table with 2 chairs, hangers, luggage rack, and cable TV. No iron, hairdryer, closet, full length mirror, or safe. I always bring hospital grade disinfecting wipes, so every surface we touched was clean. The shower could've been cleaner, but it wasn't anything too terrible. The bed was comfortable and clean enough. Only 2 pillows on the bed. The location is 3-4 miles away from Solvang, right next to the 101 freeway and walking distance / short driving distance to McDonald's, Chipotle, Habit, Panda Express, Taco Bell, Albertsons, Carl's Jr, and others. The 2 staff members I encountered checking in and out were friendly. I'd recommend this motel to anyone who needs a simple room to rest their head on during a road trip or visiting Solvang! read more

I realize this is a budget hotel but I still paid almost $200 a night including the tax for a room that was not accommodating at all. NO toiletries, iron, hairdryer, and the towels are the worst I have ever used in my life. Pay the extra money and stay at Sideways Inn or anywhere else other than this place. Been coming here over the years. Basically a moderately priced place to stay. No frills, clean and in a good area. Nice jump off point to man wineries. That said, the place could use some upgrades. The railing in the balconies look old and unsafe. Balcony floors have a very worn appearance. The towels could be upgraded as they too are worn. The air and heating units in the rooms are old and loud. For a National chain Motel 6 could provide a bit more general upkeep. read more

The one star is for the cleanliness of the room. I paid $200 to stay here for a few hours after an event in the valley and didn't want to drive home at 2 am. Literally every hotel was sold out except this one. Even if it's clean, it was still a motel 6 so you get the standard motel 6 guests.. at 5 am the neighboring guests in the room over tried opening the adjoining door which scared the hell out of us. Shaking the handle and spending at least a minute trying. They then went to "make love" extremely loud. So beware, the walls are PAPER thin. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone.. unless you want to stay somewhere sketchy. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOTEL 6 !!!!! The room I stayed in was full of black mold. The room also was never cleaned and was clearly obvious. I reported it and then spoke to the manager at that motel, Lester Bridges. He was not concerned at all with the room being dirty and the mold nor did he want to see pictures. He was very rude and acted like this happens all the time as if I was trying to get a free room. The office staff smokes outside and I smelt their cigarettes all night long. The ice machine was out of order and they were given ice two people inside the office which was nice. I bet that ice machine was full of black mold as well. Hard laminate floors, army cot style bed, small and cold. Zero decor and poorly lit. Made me think of Japananese cubical hotel or a prison cell (a nice prison mind you). The shower was gross. We wore sandals in order to wash up. Towels were small and scratchy. Manager talked on cell phone right outside our door after she assured us we got a quiet room. Very pricey considering what it is. When my husband booked a room here, I was horrified. But, to my surprise, the hotel was not bad. Check in was easy, room was cleaned, have microwave and refrigerator. The only issue was it had no coffee maker and you had to go get an iron at the front desk without ironing board. The room looked like a small suite. The motel was easy to find right off the freeway. Buellton is a quaint little country style town. The motel staff was friendly and efficient. I like that the parking lot was right off of The main street and right around the corner from the freeway exit /entrance. Once I entered the room I could see that the beds were nearly made up and fresh linen was on them, the wood floors were nice and clean, the bathroom was clean with fresh towels and little bars of soap, there was a nice little table with two chairs, the bathtub was nice and clean, sink was nice and clean and the room smelled fresh. I would definitely stay here again and I would say this is one of the best motels that I've seen in a while and I have been to all the other types of motels and this one (for the price) you can't beat it! I would rather stay here than at the Westin to be honest! The only negative I have to say is that the Wi-Fi was a little slow and was on and off all night so I really couldn't do much on my laptop but I had no trouble accessing Wi-Fi on my iPhone. read more

Okay. I know this is a motel 6 so I didn't have high hope but for $200 a night, I expected a lot more. 1. The room was sooooo small. It was the bed a small table and a bathroom. Could barely even walk through the path with two people. 2. There wasn't an iron or an ironing board in the room so we had to go down and get it. It looked like they pulled it out of the dumpster. The cover was torn in three places and it was covered in dirt 3. Their towels didn't go around my body. I'm a 26 year old average sized female.... 4. Bathroom drain was broken so it kept closing up while showering 5. And last but not least. Their "complimentary" coffee had to have been instant coffee and wasn't made correctly. There were coffee grounds in every sip I took. Now granted, it's a motel 6. But they could use their money for the 200 a night bill and buy some new towels and ironing board! read more

What makes me sad is that this motel, whose business it is to provide a comfortable, clean and peaceful environment, would care so little about their guests that they would assign an upstairs room where roof work is being done! I was tired when I arrived, and wanted a brief nap before exploring the town. At first I was assigned a downstairs room, but I asked if they had anything facing away from the main road. They had an upstairs room that faced away from the main road, so I took that room. When I got into the room, I noticed how clean and comfortable it was. The agent from the front desk called me asking how I liked the room. I told her that I liked it, it was clean and peaceful. No sooner did I hang up the phone when what sounded like a bowling ball crashed on the roof above me. I don't think they have any insulation, because it sounded like an explosion, and I must have jumped 10 feet! Then a loud buzz saw started up followed by another bowling ball crash. I called the front desk back and asked how long this would be going on. She said probably until 5pm, and it was currently 230pm. She said she'd call me b ack. She called back saying that maintenance said they'd be working until 5pm. I asked for another room, and she said she'd call me back. She never called back, but the roofers stopped so I stayed where I was, and was able to take a nap, and later explore the town. At around 9am the next morning, hammering began. Oddly enough, at around the same time, I got an email asking me to check the boxes to rate my stay so far at the motel. I checked the highest score box for cleanliness and comfort, but for quietness, I checked the lowest grade there was! Then, a few minutes later the hammering stopped and I only heard the occasional footsteps. Anyway it's better now and I hope it continues that way as I have booked two nights here. ***UPDATE***Other than the two brief, noisy times mentioned above, the rest of my time spent here at the Motel 6 was peaceful!! I especially appreciated the self regulating thermostat that kept the room at the perfect sleeping temp. The room also seems newly remodeled with laminated floors and fresh paint on the walls, and the bathtub/shower combo was roomy and the water nice and hot!
