I have only written one other amazing review for a hotel and that was a BnB in Washington State. I rarely find hotels to be much different from one another. The only thing that really defines one from another is the people. At Hotel Le Bleu the people are AMAZING!! Amanda who works the front desk was such a help during our trip and here is how. We were up in Brooklyn taking care of my mom's apartment and was not sure how much time we need to get done with our chores. We asked Amanda if we could check out late and she said we could leave at 12:30 or so. When we started to drive back to the hotel we were going to be late and called. Amanda took great care of us and made sure we had a the extra time before getting charged another day. And she was even more helpful when we woke up having not ordered breakfast the night before (checking the little sheet and posting it on the door knob). She made sure we got a full box of hot and fresh bagels, yogurt and such. When we left our room I told the cleaning lady how much fun we were having and instead of grumbling something or not hearing me, she was thankful and wished me a good day and a speedy return. I ask for so little in life, just some nice people and kindness, and the Hotel Le Bleu has that big time. We will be returning to Brooklyn and will stay at the Hotel le Bleu each and every time. I love it here. Close to the train, cute shopping, and restaurants. However, I do not like the lack of privacy in the loo. I'm married, but that doesn't mean we don't need opaque doors and showers. All in all though - I love this hotel. We stayed twice and would definitely go back. read more

I love this hotel. I stayed 2 nights. I did not intend to stay the 2nd night. When I booked for the 2nd night, I decided to try the renovated room and asked to be switched to the room with the original decor. In my opinion, the original rooms give the hotel a character that you don't find in other hotels. The renovated room is nice but, it looks normal. My 2 cents is to keep some rooms in its original state and upgrade them a bit. Customer service was excellent. I gave 4 stars because though I loved the original rooms, the were bleach stains on a dark brown carpet and the rooms as well as the the hallways need a more meticulous cleaning. It wasn't to the point that I didn't want to stay though. The bed was sooo comfy. The sheets and towels were clean. They have great toiletries that smell so good. Good news: Park Slope is wonderful, and from Hotel Le Bleu you can walk up 3rd Street and reach the western edge of Prospect Park. The walk is along an utterly charming, European feeling stretch of increasingly gorgeous turn of the century brownstones, with enchanting small gardens in front. Many restaurant and shop options surround the hotel. A person can park, that's right, park! at Hotel Le Bleu, quite a rarity in New York. The staff members are friendly and pleasant and welcoming. I liked them very much. Fresh fruit at the front desk. The bed was comfortable, mostly. The robes were comforting, and spiffily arranged on cute racks. The slippers were harsh, like you would get at a pedicure place. (See how the bad news is beginning to arrive?) It had one of those unfortunate hotel options: a heavy heavy sweltering duvet or just your sheet. I hate that a little. Would it kill a hotel to offer a light blanket? The bathroom is indeed weird, on a little glassed-in non ADA-compliant tiled platform. It has almost no counter space and almost no towel bars, yet the shower is oddly vast. I enjoyed its giant shower head and hand held sprayer. Despite being an English major, I was able to make hot water come out, though it took some thought. The elevator trapped me for a few minutes. Breakfast delivery did not begin until 7-7:20, unworkable for a person who needed to be in Manhattan early. But it was good. But you had no creamer in the room unless you got breakfast. No microwave. The refrigerator was nearly full of stuff you were supposed to pay too much for. So my little animal comforts were not met as well as they would have been in a Holiday Inn Express. The closet (seemed to be an IKEA wardrobe) was not long enough to let my fancy pants for my professional appearance hang freely. The ironing board kept collapsing. The iron kept dribbling. I imagined a whole comic routine about an angry traveler trying to cram something into the mini fridge and failing to succeed at ironing her outfit. All in all, it did have charm, and the location is dandy, but it cannot claim the luxury title (which it does) unless it minds the details better than this. read more

While the hipster blue lighting is cool, everything about this hotel is just "under" what you'd expect. And the fact that the toilet room door in my room was defective and I got stuck inside the bathroom for many minutes until I was able to force the jammed door open. There was no way any service person who had cleaned this room hadn't noticed it was broken prior to putting me in the room. Anyway, won't stay there again nor recommend it to anyone. When I did complain upon checkout, I was only told, "we're remodeling so we hope you'll try us again." read more

BEWARE! Ipod was stolen out of our room even though we had the Do Not Disburd sign on the door. We were told the security cameras could not be checked until Monday because the corporate office was located in California, but I suspect this to be a lie to provide them with more time to cover their asses. My husband and I needed an inexpensive place to stay in Brooklyn. We passed up a Comfort Inn and other budget hotels for equally priced Le Bleu, and were we ever glad we did. We paid about $200 or so a night. The place was super clean, the staff was unbelievably nice, free breakfast came hot to your room (simple continental - toasted bagel; cream cheese; juice) in a special container with colorful paper and the food nestled in it. We loved Amanda. She learned our names (and our story), and seemed genuinely happy to be there. We felt right at home. If you want luxury - Le Bleu is not for you. If you are sharing a room with someone you don't feel super comfortable with - Le Bleu is not for you (the shower and toilet are practically in the room--all studio style). I mean don't book your next corporate retreat there and have people double up! If you are looking for high value, amazing customer service, clean environment and funky modern decor -- this is definitely the right pick. This was amazingly high value for the price. read more

No accommodation for a week out cancellation due to extenuating COVID and updated NY restrictions. I won't even be able to use the hotel room that was booked this is completely unfair.... I am being charged money for a room I will be unable to use due to circumstances which did not exist at the time of my booking and which are outside of my control. Disgusting! read more

I've always dig small boutique hotels. This one is no different; modern and sleek with furniture that looks like it just came out of Ikea and CB2. Really enjoyed my stay there. The staff was friendly and kind. I didnt have a problem with the bathroom; as I got a room without the dreaded window doors. Maybe they renovated since the negative reviews? not sure. The location is decent as well; I needed a hotel with parking lot so I didnt stay in Manhatten; for people that wanted a better location; they should of just stayed in the city. I got charged with a bottle of Chardonnay that I didnt consume but I called back and spoke with Mike (the manager) and he waived it for me. The only gripe is lack of a tub in the bathroom. You walk alot in NYC, so a nicehot bath after a long day would of been icing on the cake. Its really a great place to stay; the comfy bed, 42' plasma, and Bose stereo system all are top notch. read more

Terrible experience at this hotel. They changed the rate without notice adding an additional $300 and downgrading the room. Their wonderful solution for their mistake, was that we switch rooms every single day during our six (6) day stay. Then on top of that, the person at the front desk was rude and trying to blame us for their mistake. What a shame to receive such a poor service. We ended up at the Sheraton which was much nicer and the people were much nicer. read more

This is a cute hotel on the edge of Park Slope ( technically Gowanus), with quirky modern design and a balcony in every room. Admittedly the immediate surroundings viewed from the balcony consist of a U-Haul company and a few storage businesses, but if you're lucky enough to secure a room at the back of the hotel, there are lovely views of lower Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn. There is no longer free breakfast due to COVID, but there's a charming café right on the next corner and many choices just a couple blocks away. Prospect Park ( Brooklyn's answer to Central Park) is 5 blocks away and a pleasant walk through leafy streets lined with brownstone houses. Subway is a five-block walk. (R train). The service was excellent. Someone was always there at the front desk ( we don't keep very early or late hours), and responses to questions or requests were prompt. We got an extra coffee mug and another chair for balcony viewing quite promptly. More importantly, they allowed us to book another day when Hurricane Fred was threatening our home area, and permitted cancellation the day of travel. They shared information whenever they could. Our room was cleaned at our request, and each time it was clean and fresh. The room itself was very quiet for New York; if you hate noise, and have a bit of time, it might be preferable to a Manhattan stay as it's a train ride away. No smoking is permitted, but weed is rampant now that it's legal and we could smell it ( and see it) on our balcony every night. We did not complain; not sure what they'd do if we did. We felt it wouldn't do much good, but I'm sure they would have made an effort as they did a good job when it came to everything else. read more

I'll have to admit, I'm surprised by the overall 3.5 star review. I'm not one to be over critical or over complimentary, but in all my travels for both business and personal, I have to put this hotel in my top 5. The staff was simply the most friendly I've ever encountered. Not only in NYC, but throughout the US. The front desk staff (especially graveyard shift Audry) are welcoming, friendly, and professional. The amenities are top notch, cleanliness is impeccable, location is convenient.... I honestly can't say enough how much we enjoyed our stay. We had a travel trip from hell and our stay here made it all worthwhile. Stop looking at other hotels and book here now. This is our second stay at Hotel Le Bleu -- the first was 4-5 years ago. The hotel staff is amazing. Friendly, polite, helpful. The free parking is, indeed, a joke because they have only about 20 spaces available. However, this is pay parking for $20/24 hours right across the street. The rooms look tired, and are in need of some TLC. We were met with buckling veneer, a broken lamp, and innumerable dings in both the woodwork and plaster. Clearly a well-used (yet not well cared for) hotel. The beds in our room were double beds. The biggest issue? The sound! They did not invest in soundproof windows on the 4th avenue side and the traffic noise (we stayed on the 5th floor) was nonstop. The walls are PAPERTHIN (seriously), and the even a lowtalker can be heard in the hallway. We were woken numerous times just by people shutting their doors at night. Never mind the fact that the bathroom, while super modern (and therefore cool?) is all glass (frosted, but still), so there is no privacy at all. We were here this time for a funeral, so I was grateful for the room, but the accommodations at the B&B on the Park were sooooooo much nicer (where the rest of my family stayed). For not that much more money, they got a better location, better accommodations, and better breakfasts. Next time, I'll head straight there. read more

Regrettably, Hotel Le Bleu is declining in condition. We started going years ago, when they first opened, but it has not endured the test of time. I agree with Rachel J. on the wear and tear of the hotel. Water leaks from every direction and in every space (including rooms, and lobby). Needless to say, stains on carpeting, and torn window treatments. The elevators were not functioning properly, so if you wanted to call it to go down, you had to press "up" first. The staff was nice and they tried hard to make you feel welcomed, but that still didn't make up for condition of the place. It would be great if someone bought it up and fixed it because it's a generally good location in the neighborhood (near the fun avenues), and from some rooms you have good views of Manhattan. Please get your act together, Hotel Le Bleu! I'd love to go back to loving you. read more

My stay at Hotel Le bleu was wonderful from the moment I checked in. The staff was pleasant and very accommodating, the rooms were pristine, I loved the blue light ambience especially! The showers were romantic, And relaxing, the beds were very comfortable and large, the Decour was simple and elegant and the heat in the room made for a cozy warm experience. I was very pleased with my experience here. I decided to check out a day sooner than expected and after the manager was notified She waived the fee and was extremely kind enough to refund me for the days stay that I did not fulfill. I would definitely recommend this place. We had the view of New York City which was a nice touch. We were able to have a continental breakfast delivered to our room at the time we requested. The breakfast consisted of croissants, muffins and fresh fruit. The coffee Keurig in the room was so awesome and I would have to say my favorite part was the bathroom area. Although I will say if you're not comfortable with your partner or guest you're staying with you might have trouble feeling free to use the lavatory since there is less privacy considering the doors are made of glass and are practically in the bedroom. It definitely adds to the rooms open feel, but I'm understand it isn't for everyone I am sure. Parking spots were definitely limited to say the least but parking on the streets around isn't too bad at all. That might be my only criticism about Hotel Le Bleu, but I was very pleased with this hotel, will definitely recommend it to family and friends. read more

My wife travels to NYC frequently for business and I occasionally tag along. We discovered Hotel le Bleu a few years back and haven't stayed anywhere else since. The hotel has a really modern, hip look and vibe, and le Bleu's rates are great. The rooms are large and well appointed and have mini bars (YAY!) and really comfortable beds! Their staff is unfailingly friendly, polite and helpful. I would like to single out Melissa and Amanda for going beyond the call of duty. Today, my wife had to travel on Mother's Day on a solo trip and was feeling a little down to be away from family, and they both went out of their way to make her feel extra welcome on her check in. Hugely disappointing. While the room itself was passable and the bathroom OK, there are zero amenities, and two of the four nights we stayed there we were woken up in the middle of the night by a violent screaming fight either next door or across the hall. Also lots of 2 AM and 3 AM door slamming by other guests. The employees could care less. When we complained, the reaction we got was a shrug... like this happens all the time! No offer to either do anything or make any adjustment to our room charges. Our arrival back to the hotel barely merited a look up from their iphone, let alone a "welcome back." HVAC units are noisy and poorly calibrated...feast or famine. We asked for an extra blanket, which they brought, and housekeeping promptly removed the next morning so we had to go through the same exercise the next evening. That plus the peeling paint on the ceiling of our room and the lovely view of the back side of an industrial-looking U-haul parking lot from our "balcony" room made this the least memorable hotel stay in NY ever. Needed a hotel in Brooklyn while I was in NYC for work. Overall, it was a good stay. First, let me say that I made a really stupid mistake and didn't read my reservation confirmation that said they only accepted credit cards to hold for damages, etc. Now, I assumed (based on many other stays in various hotels) that a Visa Debit would suffice, as it has never been a problem anywhere else. Not here, though. You need a major credit card. Luckily, the staff was very helpful and flexible in helping me fix this problem. Our solution was to put a hold on $250 on my debit card that would be released after check out. The staff is great. The room, upon initial inspection, looks really nice. The shower is really neat, with two shower heads. I imagine it would be weird if traveling with others, as the shower is all glass and basically in the middle of the room, but I was traveling alone, so it wasn't weird. I think there was a curtain that could be drawn too. The blue lighting is really relaxing, though it did take me a second to find the switch to turn it off at bedtime! My two issues with the hotel were with the bedsheets and the car booking. First - the sheets and comforter. They were stained, or dirty...I'm not really sure. I don't want to know. The first night, I got in so late that I ended up wrapping up in my robe (from home) and laying out towels over the sheets so that I didn't touch the bed. I slept surprisingly well, despite how awkward I felt. I made sure to leave a note to be sure the sheets were changed the next day AND asked the front desk to make a note as well. Sure enough, I come back the next night and the same stained sheets are on the bed. Second - I made car pickup reservations both days that I stayed. Now, in the staff's defense, I saw them write down the reservation the night before, but for some reason, the next shift must not have been reading from the same book, because the reservation was no longer there. It was weird, but it didn't cause any inconvenience at all. I just hope it doesn't screw anything up for other guests. So those two things were weird...BUT...I will say again, the staff is awesome. They bring breakfast to your door in the morning (you leave a hang tag on your door and they deliver it at the time you designate.) The first available time was between 7 am and 7:20 am. Since I needed to be in the car and on my way to work at 7:30, I wrote a note saying that if they were running late at all, to not leave the food because I wouldn't be back until late that night. No worries, just a heads up. Well, at 6:30 am, a pleasant young lady knocked on my door with warm bread and orange marmalade. She came extra early so that I could have my breakfast. I've stayed here many times and liked it but this place has hit rock bottom in 2 years: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. At 330 am on Sat., 3 women were screaming at each other at the table outside on the ground floor. I saw one of them get in a car in the parking lot, hit the one in back of her and take off. The door didn't lock properly. The place stank of weed and people were partying on the balconies to all hours - probably the same folks leaving good reviews. There were no coffee k-cups available for Sunday morning and I def. got the feeling that people were living there full-time. The blonde desk clerk was unfriendly...like she was being bothered to answer your questions. The service industry is a bad match for her. Skeevy. Dont waste your money on this pit hole. Room looks clean. Just has a urine smell. Not sure if it's poor ventilation or just poor drainage. Smoke detector off of the ceiling. Definitely smells like weed outside by the halls. My experience wasn't the best. Room was clean and organized but that's about it. I would have loved if it had a small kitchen or lounge area. We weren't able to get the city view which was a bummer. There was no microwave in the room. No ice machine on the floor. The little fridge the room came with didn't cool our drinks and had to get fixed. Was supposed to get charged at the time of check-in but was charged double before we actually checked in. AUDREY!!! (hope im not spelling it wrong) Me and my friend Sarah stayed there for 4 days back in May 2012, coming from San Francisco, CA. Let me tell you I Had an amazing experience! The hotel itself is really nice, neat, and warm. THE STAFF - Special Shout out to my Girl AUDREY! She was amazing! She mad sure to help us out where the night life was at, always had our town cars ready for us on time, sent up ice, and even ordered us pizza! We absolutely love her! Place is a bit weird. They put my cousin into a room to share with my aunt - the bathrooms have see-through walls. The restaurant was deserted, and I guess this place had had some bad reviews before. So he waiters were being super-pushy to get on Yelp and write that we had a good experience. No problem, but this is kinda weird and instead of going away, he instead paraded the kitchen staff out to explain how the food is all made fresh. I felt like I was being cast for Gordon Ramsey's "Kitchen Nightmares." The bartender - manager? - Tony was very nice, but he also seemed super nervous and anxious. He also mentioned Yelp and some bad history with the place. Overall, I think everyone had a good time and enjoyed their food. We hung out in the bar for a bit. I personally didn't care too much for the ambiance. The only seating available was at the bar, and there were 10 or 12 in our group so it was weird to yell down the bar. We wanted a table to sit around and do our own thing. Again, Tony was super nice and said the first round was on us. After a couple of hours, Tony's wife came in and took over at the bar. She put really bad music on and cranked the volume up. More people started flowing in and the scene was starting to change... Honestly, it all reminded me of strip clubs I'd been to when I was in the Army. So we all decided to leave. The bill came and Holy Smokes!!!! $12 for a gin and tonic!!! And not even top-shelf! And... we got charged for that "free round" from earlier, and my girlfriend said she didn't think her drink had any alcohol in it. Damn, I felt hustled. read more

Date of stay 06, 2009 My son and I enjoyed our stay at Le Bleu...the hotel is very secure, clean and the staff treated us, from check in to check out with professionalism, respect, smiles and more. Even before we began our trip to Le Bleu, when we asked for Car Service from JFK to Le Bleu, they recommended "Comfort Car Services". Very nice, prompt service, neatly dressed drivers; the Lincoln Sedan(s) are clean & well kept! We checked in kind of late in the evening...& hungry, Le Bleu provided us with a menu of a restaurant that delivers delicious food & drinks to the hotel until 10:30pm ! I (mom), requested a room with a view of the Manhattan Skyline and what a view it was! We were in a room on the 5th floor......when you walk out onto the balcony.....Skyline to the right.....Lady Liberty to the left....we were very pleased!!!! Hotel amenities are abundant.....from ( in room) complimentary individually wrapped and boxed cookies to chips to STARBUCKS COFFEE reg & decaf to hand sanitizer, bottled water, big, comfy, white, cotton robes AND slippers to the "just right" firm bed with pillows....I can go on & on. Oh ...there is an in-room safe to store your valuables..you set your own combination, which is nice!!! The Bose sound system is awesome (we didn't dare get loud though... out of respect for other patrons). The HD, on the wall, HUGE, flat screen TV, made us feel like we were @ the movies !! The furniture and the architecture of Le Bleu is very contemporary. Expect lots of chrome, frosted & non frosted glass, mirrors, blue hue lights(behind bed(s)), dimmable nightstand lamps, wireless internet...etc. This is NOT a hotel for folks who like antique or country-type settings. More preppy, up-tempo...I'd say. If you love the colour bleu, like I do, you'll be satisfied. Complimentary breakfast consists of danishes, scones, muffins, bagels of sorts, dry cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, hot coffee, tea, milk...skim milk too...a plus. Once you get off the elevator in the Lobby, walk to the left & you'll see a quaint "banquet-type" area set up with the food items that'll help to get your day started. Super cute little boutique hotel in Brooklyn. One of my favorite places to stay in NYC. It is a smaller hotel that has been remodeled. The place is adorable and inviting. It is within walking distance from Whole Foods and there are too many great bars and restaurants nearby to name! It's in a cute part of Brooklyn, and there's plenty to do within just a few blocks. The staff is efficient and super friendly. They kept running around to open the door for me, and were extremely helpful when I needed directions or advice about the area. The hotel itself has a swanky vibe. Very modern with a lot of nice touches that are usually found in larger hotels. I saw other people saying the shower was less than satisfactory in other reviews, although I didn't have any problems with water pressure or hot water. The buttons for hot water probably threw them off, I'm not sure. Showers have a European feel to them kinda. I think this place is great and I will be back! read more

The staff was friendly, but I didn't alway feel comfortable in the advice that i was given as far as getting around town or restaurant/gym recommendations. The parking is very limited, but there is a garage right across the street for $35 dollars a day. If I was staying by myself, it would have been fine, but the setup of the room is a bit weird if you are not completely comfortable with an all glass shower. The bathroom is also only separated from the sleeping area with a fogged glass door. The bed was soft as were the pillows and this was rough for me as I prefer a firm bed and pillow. It was within walking distance of some really great restaurants. There is no gym, but a UFC gym is just a street away and will let you work out for $25 dollars per day. Beware booking this hotel from out of town. They put a charge to our card before we arrived in New York which triggered a fraud alert and shut our card down causing a bit of chaos during our visit. I explained this to the concierge and he said it happens all the time and seemed indifferent. Hello? Change your card charging practices ya big dummies! Rooms are very sparten and designed so the bathroom has zero privacy, all glass, which is a bit strange. All the same, I had a great stay and slept like a baby. read more

I booked a room for my birthday wasn't a party was just me and my girlfriend she had bought me balloons "the 2&1" for 21 anyways I got to the front Desk to check in the lady was so rude yelling no parties no parties we informed her was wasn't having a party here just putting our stuff down then we are going to leave she called the manager lied and said she Heard is on the phone saying we was having other people over by the end of everything I spent two hours on the phone trying to get my money bad this was the worst hotel I've ever visited staff was beyond rude and disrespectful read more

When I first arrived there was heavy construction in front of the building which made it very hard to park my vehicle within the lot and had to pull my luggage at least one block to the hotel. Once I've arrived into the hotel, reception was more occupied with other employees as well as the phone besides checking-in guest. Once I received my room, there was greasy paper on the desk , tissues were stuffed into the tissue box that were pulled out by the prior guest, and the shower had a major drip with some of its parts popping out on the floor. This room WAS NOT sanitized per advertisement for safety from covid. When I informed the front desk, a gentleman had to come into my room and check the complaints (which was weird) and offered the room next door which was just as worst. For the price of this room (which was missing a lot of amenities), the only positive experience was the view. My overall experience from this hotel would be something I'd expect from a motel next to the highway. Please practice cleanliness and hospitality with the hotel staff. read more

Walked into my room to find that they had switched us to a handicapped accessible room. Called the front desk, which said that they had to move me due to "mechanical issues" with the room I had booked. I asked for a different room, and they basically told me "tough shit, we're full." I booked over six months in advance, so I have no idea why I was singled out. They said they had called me in advance, and while I won't call the staff liars, I definitely did not speak to anyone on the phone. So the bathroom is like a large communal shower, with a drain in the middle of the floor, next to the toilet, with a cheap shower curtain separating the room. Everyone keeps posting about the creepy blue lighting, and I can't comment on that, because the lights in the room are busted. Literally, missing bulbs. The carpets are ratty enough that I wouldn't walk around barefoot, and the walls definitely need a paint job to hide all the scuff marks on the molding. I rarely review hotels, but damn. read more
