I use the lobby for Kettle Space and it alone is just beautiful. The lighting is low so that adds to the cozy feeling. The wood used at the tables is a deep stain. Very rustic but still maintains a modern feel. Its NEVER full so if your are introverted like me, youre never met with the impending doom of having to talk to anyone. The bathroom is clean too. I'm a weirdo, that's a big deal for me. I cant wait for the weather to change so i can go out on the deck. I should have moved to New York years ago. The internet is EXTREMELY fast and i love the fact that ITS OPEN ON WEEKENDSSSSS!!!!!! I also want to give a SPECIFIC SHOUTOUT to Jose, the barista. He is by far, the most polite, most well groomed (#BEARDGANG), just an all out pleasure to make an acquaintance with each day. He's there early AF and stay all day with a smile on his face. Stayed here for 3 nights while working an event at Barclay Center. While it's only 2.5 miles away, it took 30+ minutes in a Lyft to get there. The hotel is very cute. I love the concept! Rooms are clean and comfortable, housekeeping did a great job every day. The best was the great staff I encountered! Werner and Shawn both really know their business and were so kind and welcoming! Sherry was also awesome! Valerie did an AMAZING job getting breakfast and coffee out to people in spite of the long line. It would be great if there was someone to help during that breakfast rush time. If this was in a more convenient location I would stay here all the time. I may just stop by for a drink or coffee and say hi to the awesome employees! And to the guy who left a one star review...It's a hotel/bar for paying guests. hotel was small, room was clean but someone left a "snot" tissue in bathroom under sink, which i left right in its place. There was 1 microwave, in the BASEMENT. The 1 elevator was shaky. The front staff was nice, but had several jobs, and was sometimes missing from post. The price was a little high for area, which is a little "rough" a fight broke out in one of the rooms, awakening me from an itchy slumber, p.s. itchy...i looked for bugs, saw none but maybe it was the detergent used to wash sheets. First, the positive. I really like the location and the front desk personnel were warm and welcoming for my 4 night stay. The room was a decent size and was very clean. However, the not so good: There was no storage/closet for your luggage and clothes. All they had were giant hooks on the wall and no work station/desk (picture attached). I checked in late afternoon on a Thursday. Friday morning I placed the do not disturb sign on my door because I was still fatigued from my flight the night before and wanted to sleep in so I missed house keeping which was okay. Saturday I left my room around noon and housekeeping was right outside my door. I informed them I was gone for the day and she acknowledged hearing me. I returned around 4pm and the room wasn't serviced. I called the front desk and asked if they were still cleaning and they said no. I asked for clean towels and they sent them up quickly. 15 min later I received a prefabricated letter stating I missed service because I requested no service...that's BS. I called the front and explained that was for Friday only and they apologized....Sunday I leave the hotel at 10 am for my last day adventure in NY. Again I let the cleaning crew know that I was leaving for the day only to return to an unserviced room at 7pm. I'm very disappointed with the housecleaning service and for that will NEVER return. read more

Right on a nice busy boulevard in a perfect, bustling location along the J & M lines. It's clean and a bit Spartan. The beds were very very comfortable. Walking distance to everything you could ever want. Enjoy that local color in Bedford-Stuyvesant! Catch the grunge before those hipsters gentrify it all away. Note: this is Brooklyn. There is NO parking lot or on site parking whatsoever and this is a normal thing, so I am not deducting a star. But you should be aware, you basically gotta just drive around the neighborhood and find a place to park on the street. So do yourself a favor and take the M there instead. read more

No parking, looked for a half hour and then decided to pay for a parking garage 10 minutes away and then had to get an Uber to the hotel. There was a party going on until 4am and the phone line to the front desk wasn't working so we couldn't sleep. On top of that the continental breakfast that was advertised on their website found out the morning of!! that they didn't continue that due to Covid. I completely understand not having it because of Covid but why is it still advertised on their website? when picking a place to stay thats one of the selling points and why we chose this hotel, disappointed. read more

If you are a brand/person looking to host an event at this location, I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. Not only are they unprofessional, they are also tacky and lack communication skills. I had a contract signed three months in advance to host an event at their venue. One month away from the event, they cancelled my contract without warning and blamed me for the miscommunication they had amongst their teams. If you care about your sanity and want to work with a venue/brand that cares about doing the right thing and ensuring you have a great event, I would suggest that you look into patterning with a more established venue. So first I get two cancellation notices and I think that should've been the red flag but every hotel near the festival I was attending was booked so I was like okay whatever. We arrive to the hotel at 12:00am with food and exhausted from the event, ready to eat and sleep. First she mentions the room accommodates three people in a strange tone that didn't sit well with me. It was me and my girlfriend, plus my two best friends. All of us lesbian. there's TWO beds. so we were sleeping two on each. she came off a bit homophobic. Anyway we were ready for bed and Unfortunately that wasn't possible because despite an authorization hold put on my account, the receptionist refused to take cash for the incidental fee and chase was down. So no chase cards were working. We kept saying we'd pay in cash and she was just being so condescending which eventually caused us to catch an attitude. I asked her twice, so we just need to give you the $100 on a card right. she says yes. we walk 15 minutes to go to a bank to put the cash we had in a non chase card. come back. give it to her. now she says we gotta pay the two nights. when i was told my first night was already paid!! now suddenly it's not a payment and it's just a authorization hold. I'm sorry but i've stayed at 5 star hotels more often than i can count and never have i everrrrrr been charged that plus the full two nights during CHECK IN. so obviously the cards can't be accessed so we can't do anything. At this point i'm furious and although chase is mostly at fault, she wasn't doing anything to be assistive. during this, Two girls came down to ask for wifi info and even with them she was rude. she was too busy complaining about how she hates her job. Finally at 2:30am with cold chicken wings, we get to check in and go to our room. After all that we missed an after party and we were just tired. so we got in bed. I'm laying there and the phone rings, i pick up and she says "Yea so we have had two noise complaints and you need to keep it down." so I was silent for like three seconds processing what this girl just said to me because WHAT!!! so I'm like ok well i'm sitting here in silence so. and she goes well i have complaints so and i'm like well that changes nothing we're quiet. and i hang up. annoyed. The next day I wake up around 11:30. we had no towels so I call and kindly ask if they could send up towels. The receptionist says "Well aren't you checking out today." I instantly get agitated because after everything the hotel put us through the night prior, now I have to waste time on resolving this. So I'm like no. we aren't. and she says well.. I had two noise complaints and a note that you guys are rude and we have NO tolerance for that. So I instantly start to get angry and I start correcting her and telling her there was people in the hallway making noise. not us. yet she says well i'm gonna have to take the customers word for it. ?! So I say we aren't leaving because two nights were charged and we didn't even stay a full one and it's completely ridiculous that we dealt with disrespect the night prior and now this. To this she says if you refuse to leave we will call the police and to which i respond please do. we go back and forth and so she goes to "talk to her manager." she called back and my friend speaks to her this time and she basically says we still have to leave. So my friend told her what happened with the first receptionist and that the rooms smelled like weed and went to talk to her manager. she calls back, and says we're fine to stay. annoyed i'm like okay cool. Also my friend asked her to speak to a manager and was denied. Now late to the event we were attending. So first we missed a after party we were supposed to go to AND we ended up late to the main event and reason we stayed at Red Lion. To add to all this, the first girl gave us dirty looks when we arrived back that night. My girlfriend left in the middle of the night to go to work and she kindly said Bye to the girl and the girl gave her a dirty look. During checkout, the receptionist was rude and charged my card TWICE. This entire stay felt stressful and irritating. Truly wish a refund was possible because this ruined my weekend. I fully understand mistakes being made but there was nothing done to accommodate us. Not even an apology was given to us after being accused of being noisy and being threatened to be kicked out. This was not the stay I was expecting to have for $250 a night. First off, there is no parking, so expect to drive around in 10 circles before you find a decent spot nearby. Service at the front desk was terrible upon check-in too. Not friendly, helpful or informative. My boyfriend and I came with our friend so we were shocked when we saw that you can see directly into the shower from where the beds are.... Also, the shower door didn't shut all the way. On top of that, we were told the room would have a queen day bed in it but it ended up being a twin. The bathroom sink was so small that the water would go everywhere when you washed your face. The TV never worked properly and be prepared to listen to the subway and partying on the street all night too. There's no coffee or anything in the room, but you can get the worst coffee of your life for free downstairs. Some of the pros would be the room and bathroom were clean and the beds were comfortable. Upon check out no one bothered to ask how my stay was, so I knew my complaints wouldn't matter to the person there. We had a wonderful stay here! Friendly staff, convenient location, walking distance to some shopping, restaurants, liquor stores, and not too far from the subway station. The only thing that caught me off guard was that they didn't offer daily housekeeping services. This hotel is still fairly new so some of the amenities advertised online weren't available during our time of stay but overall everything else was great! We had Joseph M. during both check-in and check-out processes in which he was friendly, welcoming, and very informative when answering all our questions. We also had the pleasure of having Nathaniel M. as our bartender on the first night of our stay. He is super sociable and gave us tips on all the cool spots to check out in NY. Horrible stay here!! My wife and our three kids were visiting the City for the holidays for our ten year anniversary. It was unfortunately ruined by our stay here.The room was not cleaned prior to us staying there. Unmade bed with hair on the on pillow cases and shit stains on the towels. Also we discovered that our 3 year old son got pink eye after our stay here. When we reported this to management they insisted the room was cleaned before we checked in. They were very open to doing that. We only stayed for a night, but the room with two queens was big enough for three adults and our luggage. The bar was great and the bartender was a rock star! Some of the issues I encounter: -a bar / coffee area that was unstaffed - there was an unused espresso machine no food and most night's no one working the bar. -amenities advertised not available such as laundry. -what seemed to be a total lack of training and a lack of interest in providing support. -no help with luggage (we had a lot) and no luggage cart. read more

After a particularly bad Airbnb experience, we decided to stay at this hotel. We have stayed at Red Lions before and are pretty comfortable staying in most RL hotels. This hotel seems "new" for some reason. While we cannot complain about the room or the staff, there is something "off" about going to the bar and not getting service. When Nathaniel is working, everything is perfect. He is the best and seems to know what we want even before we want it! I would give him 5 stars immediately. He is personable and helpful. He also does a great job as bartender. Also, most of the staff is great! When we had questions about how to catch the subway, they went the extra mile and told us where to go. Our first day here, we wanted to see some sights and they printed maps and answered all of our questions. As far as the location is concerned, we have no basis of comparison. As others have said, the subway is less than 50 feet outside our window is something to get used to, but so far so good. I would stay here again! There is a great coffee shop about a block away--good bagels and pastries. Overall, no complaints AND it is just a few short minutes away from Manhattan. I'm not sure what others would compare this to in the way of hotels in the area, but our experience has been good overall. read more

I showed up at the hotel about 6 PM on a Friday with a reservation from Priceline which I paid 605.00 dollars for almost three weeks in advance. The Hotel RL told me they don't accept Priceline reservations and had not booked my room. Then they lied and told Priceline a different story and said it was because they were overbooked, a practice they evidently do often according to reviews on other sites. I had to spend the entire first evening of my trip trying to find a place to stay on a Friday when the city is booked solid. I liked this place! It's a mid range hotel, and great quality for the price. Location - It's in the Bed-Stey neighborhood, and there isn't really much around there. We have relatives that live nearby, so it's functional for us. Parking is not impossible. We parked on the street. The neighborhood is fine. It looks a little sketchy but I didn't feel unsafe. There is a bodega right next door, that is open 24 hours and they have everything. Property - adorable. It has a cute bar/lounge area and they have live music/poetry some evenings. The cafe is basic but is super cozy and comfortable. Coffee/espresso based drink in the AM. All food and coffee is for purchase. They have a game room downstairs; we didn't visit that. They also have an very cute outdoor patio attached to the bar. It's probably awesome in the summer. Rooms - very clean and neat. Each room has a queen bed with a twin sleeper. Beds are super comfortable. Rooms are very functional. Lots of shelves and areas to put your stuff. No bedside light though. No chest of drawers but nifty hooks everywhere, so didn't miss the drawers. Rooms also have iron/board, hairdryer and nice bath products. Check In - was easy and the girl that checked us in at midnight, was nice. Overall, I'd stay here again, and probably will. Great combo of quality and price. read more

She was so pleasing and professional I was impressed. I also loved the tv area in the basement. It's a great place to get away and watch a good movie. It reminded me of home away from home. Reading the reviews I was nervous. People stating they lost things or being charged for smoking so I was weary. Check in was easy and fast and we parked on a side street. The room was modern, clean and spacious. We left our room to grab a bite and came back and there was a bottle of champagne in our room and a note. We where freaked out someone was in our room cause of the reviews lol but nothing was missing. We spent a long night out In Brooklyn and I was thankful they allowed us a late check out. This was my first trip to New York to visit my daughter. Chose this place due to proximity to her apartment. Stayed 4 days. I'll share my 2 cents: Pros: -- cool bar area and the best bartender, Matthew. He makes a great Long Island Iced tea! --room was clean, soft bed, interesting layout that was easy to live with --great outlet plugs!! With USB ports on some and right by the beds! --free water, and I think free coffee but I don't drink coffee --deli/store next door makes great paninis --great proximity to the J and M trains --BK Bagels down the street is awesome --staff was friendly and helpful --I really liked the look of the hotel. There is a set up in the bottom floor, with a large table, sectional couch and large TV. It would be a nice gathering place for families who are staying there Cons: --that blasted red light blinking on the phone every night that indicates a waiting message. Called the front desk and learned there was no message, the phone resets each night until you use a code to clear it. I just unplugged the phone but perhaps management can fix that one --there is no kitchen in this hotel, but they do have limited breakfast sandwiches you can heat in the microwave, plus cereal and milk --you are right beside the J train so it is noisy but the farther up you are, the better. I use a sound machine app and wasn't bothered by the noise on the 6th floor --not very functional bathroom sink. Very small and no place to put toiletries. They have cool metal shelves all over the room and could use some in here in my opinion --management, please make a change to that shower door!! For the love of Pete, it's see-through with the bathroom light on!! Just beware of that. Overall, not a bad place. I'd say the best part was proximity to trains. read more
