The hotel itself is nothing special, but the customer service was great. Brita at the front check-in desk went so far as to send my guest and me a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie after engaging in a convo with us and showing us pictures of her awesome deck. read more

Long overdue revue. I first heard of this place from a sister who spent one of her anniversary getting lost in Palo Alto / Mountain View. She raved about this cute cheap getaway place so much that I had to try it...and try it i did. I'm sucker for "CHEAP" but cute is not at all what I expected. This place is very cute for the price. The bed was comfortable, not the hard springy feeling mattress either, it's the plush thick higher end mattresses. The rooms are clean although the metal decor cast iron decor on the wall will need updating, other than that it was good for the price. Spent less than 50 buck here for Valentines day wohoooo!!! On a most recent visit about a month ago, it was close to 90 bucks with our AAA discount, so you see the price scale can change depending on the season. read more

This place is GREAT! Best place for the price ever! I was really skeptical but they've rehab'd this old building (that looks like it should be a place in Spain) to something very cool. Great colors with fountains outside and in the lobby. Bathrooms have a beautiful glass sink that is too cool. Very nice breakfast with real eggs that taste good, crispy bacon, good sausage and other things on the buffet. They will even make you a custom omlete! Management seems to really try to make you happy. I'm very impressed ... though I don't see the promo code they are offering on Yelp (perhaps it's my Firefox browser). Oh, and it's right on the four mile walking trail. Perfect! And a nice exercise room (though everyone in the lobby can see you so I prefer the trail). Will stay again! read more

I chose this hotel based on Yelp references and the price. Stayed here on New Year's Eve. Paid a total of $60 for a king standard room. The colors of the room are really nice and the bed is SUPER comfortable. The sink is pretty awesome. We had a room on the second floor, didn't hear the freeway or noise from other rooms. Overall, I felt like it was a really great deal. Didn't want to leave that comfy bed! read more

My wife and I stayed here for a show at the Shoreline. Great value and very friendly staff including Brita.

I'm impressed. It's very clean, and they provide things you typically don't get at other hotels like ear plugs, slippers, and an eye mask! The bathroom is very clean and I love the glass sink! The shower for some reason was the most relaxing thing. Their lotions, and body wash smell AMAZING like fresh essential oils! I had to request for more!! Haha I'm feeling very comfortable! Thank you! The only thing was it was hard to find! I kept passing it on my way here. Other than that 5 stars Zico! Excited for breakfast tomorrow! read more

Too cute! This hotel has great decor. Very 'greek' feeling. Bright blues and whites. The rooms are all decked out and make it refreshing to step into. We had a room on the first floor with a big adjoining patio with the other first floor'rs. There was a tiny kitchen area (sink, mini fridge & microwave). The price was crazy low for this place, but we did hunt down a deal. Parking is under ground which helped in the rainey season we went. There are many options for being enviromentally positive. This is a must! read more

This place is clean and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good and consisted of warm items such as eggs, bacon, sausages, etc. This place is also close to downtown and near the freeway. read more

Excellent hotel. I was looking for a place in the Milpitas area, but it seemed a bit sketchy that'aways, so I opted for Mountain View instead. I love this area- it has so many trees and cool stores, and this hotel is on the main drag (El Camino Real). There are a ton of restaurants/fast food right around the corner, which is great. The decor is recently updated and as it's a smoke-free hotel, it smells great throughout! The lobby area smells especially good. Our room is very clean, including the bathroom. Love that the bed has clean white comforter instead of those nasty 1980's things that are disgusting. The desk has a cute mirror attached, and the TV is brand new (LG flatscreen). The parking is underground, so your car stays shaded and clean! YAY! The bathroom sink is SO cool..ah I want to take it home. The room comes with a mini fridge (super useful) and a microwave, as well as a Keurig coffee maker. Awesome. The bed is a bit stiff for my liking, however. No biggie there. We left the cleaning card on the day everyday, and the cleaning staff kindly replaced our towels and made our bed. Another plus to this hotel is that they give you a shoe-shining towel, a makeup removing towel (disposable) and earplugs with a sleep mask! Sweet! This is especially helpful for people like me that need complete darkness and quiet to sleep. The staff is very friendly. I had a problem connecting to the Internet, but I brought my computer right out and the front desk helped me connect Although you're right next to the freeway, it's super quiet here. I haven't heard any neighboring guests at all! (Maybe I got lucky this weekend with quiet people). Best part: the breakfast. Hello made-to-order omelet station! Hello fresh pancakes, bacon, sausage and eggs! VERY AWESOME. Also, it's nice that the breakfast goes 'til 10AM on the weekends instead of only 9AM like most places. Also, the outside of the hotel is very cute. Tons of palm trees, a fountain- just an overall clean, relaxing feeling, which is amazing considering it's right next to a freeway on-ramp. Highly recommended! Also, check for better rates on the hotel's website- I found this place on kayak.com for $89/night, but the hotel's website was only $81/night Thank you Hotel Zico for a clean, quiet, friendly, yummy stay! read more

From the moment, I stepped into the hotel, I immediately fell in love the Mediterranean theme. The staff were super friendly and outgoing. The room was comfortable and super clean. The breakfast is amazing and delicious. The hotel is near a great location, not to far from shops and restaurants. I would definitely book here again. Such an amazing experience and time. read more

I had the best stay here over the Christmas holiday. Brita at the front desk really knows how to make guests feel welcome and appreciated. Thank you Brita! All of the staff at Hotel Zico gets a 'thumbs up'. Their complimentary breakfast in the morning exceeded my expectations: you can order customized egg omelettes (it is not just bacon, potatoes, cereal, muffins, etc). Hotel Zico will be a place I will return to. read more

Brita made my stay like staying with family. I broke all my cards and she was super helpful. Also they give you infinite water bottles.

The hotel is not terrible. The front desk employees were friendly and the hotel was clean. But I was extremely disappointed with the room. DO NOT accept room #208! It is not at all as advertised, but is instead a tiny, glorified dorm room. You open the door into the bed, with barely 3 feet of room to walk around and are immediately met with the bathroom door. The tiny TV is mounted in the right corner which makes no sense for actually watching TV (it can't fit anywhere else in the room cause it's that small). The closet is just a tiny as the room... the microwave and mini-fridge take up half and the other half can fit a few shirts and a jacket. You will not be able to fit a suitcase or anything else. To top it all off, the "room" has blinds with no curtains. This means if the sun is up the room is very bright. If the sun is down, the room is still very bright thanks to the outdoor lights mounted outside the windows. Based off the advertisement and price, I expected a lot more room than what was given. And don't expect them to change the room. Once that door closes behind you, they claim no room changes. So don't get caught up in the shock of "WTF" if you mistakenly accept a key to room 208 and definitely don't let the door close behind you. read more

We decided to stay at Hotel Zico one night before going to SF the next day, and we only paid $64 on Hotwire. When we first arrived I was pleasantly surprised, the grounds looked kept up, the lobby was nice, good customer service, and the room was clean and modern (except for the doors and a few little things). We got a room that was away from the freeway so we didn't hear any noise, as some other Yelpers did. Overall I was pretty happy with our choice, then morning came and it sounded like a herd of elephants was above us, the walls are definitely very thin. It includes a free breakfast in the morning, which we did not try. I would probably stay here again, but I would recommend getting a room away from the freeway and upstairs. read more

My stay at the Hotel Zico was pleasant and comfortable with the help of Brita's hospitality. Her friendly/easy-going personality made us feel at home. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted to enjoy the local Mountain View area. read more

The price was reasonable $225 per night on avg. Pros: Very friendly breakfast ladies! Friendly and helpful front desk in the morning! Outdoor patio Avail of Laundry machine Makeup remover Cons: Jim at the front desk at night shift. Kinda condescending responses when i've asked questions. Uncleaned patio table- I had to request to be cleaned twice. Dusty night table- I can wipe my finger access and see the print. read more

I've been to zico for the second time I do love the hotel it's very clean but this time I didn't get a Lil outdoor patio area. The only thing was that the people that stayed upstairs I can here them walking constantly around the room like to the bathroom it's cause the bathroom have tile floors so the noise travels to down stairs rooms.Staff is very friendly and courteous. read more

This is a really pleasant and nice place with a hip vibe. They've gone the extra mile with nice touches. You will not be disappointed. It will exceed your expectations. Britta at the front desk is super. The breakfast is a treat; made to order omelettes, homemade granola! I can't imagine a better value in the area. I will be back. read more

***This is an update for my review that was posted two weeks ago*** Initially I had complaints about having no front desk present when I had a problem in the middle of the night. and needless to say I did not sleep very well. However, since my posting someone from Hotel Zico contacted me and offered 2 free nights if we wanted to come back. I am hardly in the Mountain View area so I asked if we could just get a refund for the night we stayed and they agreed. So regardless of the fact that I had a terrible night, the hotel was at least nice enough to refund 100% of our one night stay. read more

+ A sweet & clean room. + Keurig coffee maker. + A fridge & a microwave.. in the closet. + Starbucks coffee in the lobby. + Eyeshades & ear plugs for all the noise. + Free breakfast. x It is free for a reason!^ x No bellboy to help with the luggage. x No breakfast after 9:30/10. x Stiff towels. x S l o w internet. x Thin walls makes it so noisy! A crying baby in the next room is so loud & clear, and the freeway is noisy as well. Not coming back. read more

Had an amazing experience at Hotel Zico. Room was perfect and Jim, who worked at the front desk, was extremely nice! He called once we walked into the room to see if the room was okay, which it was. He even gave us a coupon to a local restaurant! I highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back! read more

I've been schlepping around the peninsula over the week, while my new apartment opens up. This has given me an opportunity to see some of what's out there on the peninsula in the cheap-ish range. This place rocks. Now, you're not getting a Marriott/Crown-Plaza-quality place, but you're not paying that, either. But for the money (between $65-$95/night) Hotel Zico smokes the competition. I enjoyed my stays here, and in fact I'm writing this review now while staying at the Red Roof In in Millbrae (another review for another day) and it made me realize how awesome Zico was in comparison. Plusses: 1) Rooms accurately depicted in photos; 2) Beds are comfortable and quality (not cheap and springy like the typical bed in hotels in this price range); 3) good breakfast lounge and food. Actual eggs, bacon, cereal, juice, etc; not just a "continental" breakfast; 4) clean rooms; 5) Staff was nice, efficient; 6) clientèle also nice. Nothing redneck-ie :) 7) free wifi; 8) Has a bit of a 70s vibe with the decor. I liked it, though hotel-traditionalists may be meh on it. Think "understated version of Hotel Triton' near Chinatown in the City (for those of you who've been there, you'll know what I mean) to give you a general idea of the vibe; Minuses: 1) You're near 85 and el camino so there's a bit of road noise. Didn't bother me at all, but for those that it might, you can turn on the fan (or AC or heat depending on the weather); 2) (this one's a bit of a stretch, but I want to be objective and include this) It's not a new building, probably late 70's/early-80s. The place is well-cared for, but I could hear someone walking around in the room above me a couple times. read more

Second staycation in six weeks! Relaxing atmosphere for my crazy nerves from teaching and serving others. I deserve this, Zico delivers! Stayed here due to location and cost. Paid 109/night for 3 nights. liked supporting a smaller hotel vs. big chain....but now maybe I'm not so sure.... Cons: -BATHROOM WATER doesn't get hot enough to take a bath. shower was fine, but not OK for a bath. (quite a disappointment as I'd come here for a yoga workshop and was looking forward to soaking in a tub!) -NO AC/Heat control in your room. odd. very old school. the room felt stuffy or too hot at times and I could not regulate it. -NOISE - if you desire a quite experience or are a light sleeper, DO NOT STAY HERE. i could hear the freeway and the people next door and doors opening and closing all the time. -IF YOU DESIRE NATURAL LIGHT, you'll be out of luck in your room. unless of course you open the back door to the long patio that is shared by ALL rooms on this side of the hotel. in room lighting was great though. -THE LOCKS on the door leading to the patio mentioned above were VERY weak. was not really comfortable with that. same goes for the door that connected my room to the one next door. -PILLOWS ARE TERRIBLE. lumpy and seemingly way too old. pros: -TOILETRIES were great -BREAKFAST - hot and free, no complaints there so long as you get there on the early side. -REFRIGERATOR & MICROWAVE in room. microwave looked to be from 1960...didnt use it. LOVED that there was a fridge in room -PARKING - i used the lot just out front, super close and convenient and free -DECOR - i liked the decor of my room, loved the bathroom sink and vanity read more

Terrible hotel! My wife and I checked in at about 11:30 PM ready to get some sleep.....noticed a long black hair on one of the pillows...pulled back the sheets and found several hairs in the bed. DISGUSTING! Called the front desk and they came and moved us to a new room. Bed was clean but the room was not. Looked like a 5 year old painted the place. There floor looked nasty and the bathroom was not much better. If it was not so late we would have looked for another hotel. Dont be fooled by the good reviews...the facility was NOT clean! read more

Our stay here was the result of taking part in a bidding on a travelsite where they did not show you what you were paying for...until you booked it. I'll never do that again. Now, I'm going to be gentle here because we were really only looking for a place to lay our head and because I think these folks are really trying to make the best of what they have. The hotel is situated right near the freeway, fortunately we didn't hear much of that noise. The staff was friendly enough, though one morning housekeeping woke us up. No biggie. Decor...meh. Amenities...meh. A huge plus was that this place is within walking distance (15 minute walk) to Castro Street where the majority of any activity is going on. There are a few cute places to get a bite to eat. Check out Crepevine and Red Rock Cafe and on the weekends there is a Farmers Market near the town center. Lots of folks were walking around sipping coffee and holding fresh produce and flowers. I would be interested to try another place in Mountain View to see how it compares. read more

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. We were happy that during the lockdown they were taking precautions to show they were cleaning properly. Our room 121 had some issues. The toilet flushing buttons didn't work so we had to flush by opening the back of the tank. The air conditioning unit in the room smelled like old urine when we turned it on and there were quite a few bugs crawling on the walls. The first night our neighbor in 122 was drunk with some people singing loud mariachi music until we complained to the front desk. Thankfully it stopped before midnight. The people above us were extremely loud and up all hours of the night running around. The second day there was a disturbing domestic dispute in the parking lot and the police were called. The second night we couldn't sleep until 2am because the people above us were so unbelievably loud with walking around. The walls and ceilings are very thin. With every step it felt like they were going to fall through to our room and it's not an exaggeration. We really wanted to like this hotel. The front desk was very nice but you can tell that they put up with a lot. We would hope to one day come back but never be on the bottom floor. What was suppose to be a relaxing weekend ended up with both of us not getting much sleep at all. read more

I have a PhD in computer science from Stanford University. I am handicapped. I stayed at Hotel Zico for 2 1/2 weeks. The first week was through hotels.com at a good rate. The second week was through Hotel Zico at a high rate. The third week was a guaranteed reservation through hotels.com at a good rate. The manager's name is Lindo. He is known to develop his employees, so I tried to help. The day people at the front desk that I met were Roberto, Ivan and Don. The night person at the front desk that I met was Jayesh. These are hardworking people. For example, Ivan is also a student and a nurse intern. I shared my food with them. All of them eagerly accepted. I lent Ivan a Swiss watch and asked him to think about getting such a watch as a stretch goal 10 years down the road. When I tried to book for a third week, Ivan told me there were no rooms available, and that he had tried all websites, including hotels.com. I tried hotels.com and immediately got a room at a good rate. In the middle of the third week (guaranteed through hotels.com), Lindo threw me out. He didn't even give me time to pack. He called the police. Lindo told me that the staff was uncomfortable with my gifts. I've heard of hotel guests being thrown out for bad behavior, but not for good behavior. The police said Lindo told them I was belligerent towards other guests. I am a religious Hindu and am always polite. Roberto said it was that I hadn't laundered my clothes for 1 day. Hotel Zico has a coin-operated laundry and Roberto himself told me the previous day that they were out of coins. Don said the company accountant was in town and that the rate I got from hotels.com was too low. read more

This is a horrible place. It touts itself as being unusual. Unfortunately, it is quite commonplace and too expensive. There are better places right around there. Pros: The hot omelette bar (included). Cons: too many to list. Here is a sample. - The manager and counter crew are rude and ineffective. - The entrance is just next to the exit for highway 85. You're looking at an accident about to happen to you. - No safe in the rooms. - Lots of noise in the rooms - Many drunk guests read more

Prices are decent, as is the location. The outside architecture is sweet, too. But the rooms are the size of a closet! Okay for one person, two would not fit in. You expect this in moderate price European hotels, but not in the US. Also, no window treatments! Venetian blinds is all you get. No draperies or curtains of any kind. Cheap... read more

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast that they offer was great! I would stay here again when I head back. The hotel is next to the freeway so if you are a light sleeper you might want to bring some ear plugs but otherwise the hotel was excellent it has a modern touch to a older building and had a lot of nice touches like the pillows had soft or firm on them, the bathroom sink was cool, the room had a microwave and the bed was very comfortable. read more
