Hotpot Nation is in the Pacific East mall, and is one of many dining options there. When we checked in, there was only one other table that was occupied so we were a bit concerned, but we were attracted by the menu, and the luxurious interior. The hot pot choices basically fall along two types. There is a group dining where you can choose your meats or seafoods, vegetables and other ingredients. More expensive ingredients like seafood means higher price of course. For the group dining option they bring a big pot and all the ingredients are lay out in trays and your group would cook yourself by choosing what ingredients you want to add to the pot. You can also choose to have different broths in the pot(they use a divider). The other options is to order individualized hotpots. These are smaller one person hotpots and there are many types to choose from. The ingrients are already pre-cooked in the pot, so when they bring the hotpot to your table, they just put it on a burner and you continue to cook the pot. For $2 extra, they have a sauces station, where you can customize your own dipping sauces. Since we came on a weekday for lunch, we ordered the individual hotpots, which were attractively priced. I had a Japanese miso style hotpot, while the rest of the family ordered different personal hotpots. We all enjoyed our hotpots and we all make our own dipping sauces. For the lunch special hotpots the value is superb as you get a lot of food and the quality of the ingredients are very good. Our server was friendly and very helpful. When the flame got too intense and the soup got too hot, we got her to put out the burner. We will come back to try more of their special hotpots.
As we've been meaning to try Hotpot Nation for awhile now, my wife brought me here last night to celebrate my birthday. They have a Yelp Waitlist, but as we arrived early around 5:30pm, there was still plenty of available seating and no wait necessary. Service was very friendly and helpful, and our waitress made sure to run us through how to order. She recommended ordering the soup base first, which I highly recommend to everyone while you're deciding the rest of your order. As the base does take a bit to heat up. We opted for the House Special Colagen Pork Marrow Broth, which was VERY rich and flavorful. Highly recommend this one if you're uncertain which to choose. The charge the soup by the number of people at the table, even though everyone is just sharing one pot. They have several platter combos to choose from, which are much more economical than choosing individually. We opted for the meatball platter, which had a nice mixture of different protein types within. And ordered several meat and veggie plates separately to supplement. All of the ingredients were very fresh, and tasted great! And the sauce station had a nice, diverse amount of sauce options and condiments to mix and match from. At the end of your meal, you can even ask for a take-out container to take home the delicious broth! The place did start to fill up quickly as we progressed through dinner, so it is recommended to come early.
The food is always so good here!! Located inside the Pacific East Mall, it was easy to find parking and easy to locate this restaurant! Especially because of its delicious smell! They have a lot to offer when it comes to soup base and the food items! We ordered a variety of beef, pork, mushrooms, tofus, veggies and noodles! They had good and attentive service which made us feel comfortable eating here. It was not too busy so we got sat quickly, not too lively but not too quiet.
Nice decoration & pop music! The hot pot was good, however the price pretty up and they do extra charge for the sauce!!
They finally added individual pots! Prices differ for lunchtime and dinner time. Usually for more expensive pots it'll be closer to $20-25 each. The staff were super friendly and checked in often throughout the meal! The inside is also organized and maintained well. The food was good. If anything i just wish that we got a little more meat. This broth was good but a little heavy but not greasy or anything just filling. Overall pretty good experience, good place to drop by with friends and family! Super nice and homey environment and its cold inside which makes the hotpot sit well
We chose the spicy mala soup and the Collagen Beauty Milk Pot for our hotpot. For the meat, we ordered the combo, which included Special Fatty Beef, Lamb Shoulder, Pork Belly, Pork Shoulder, and Thin Sliced Chicken Breast. While the milky soup had a decent flavor, the spicy base soup wasn't as spicy as we expected, and the flavor of the soup base was a bit off. Despite ordering the spiciest version, it lacked the expected kick, so we had to create our own paste at the sauce bar. The overall quality of the meat was good, but for three people, the combo didn't quite satisfy our appetites. We ended up ordering another meat combo with Special Fatty Beef, Marbled Beef, and Lamb Shoulder. Additionally, it's worth noting that they charge for sauces separately for each person. It isn't bad, but it leans toward the pricier side compared to other AYCE hotpot spots in the Bay Area.
We went to Hotpot Nation on a Saturday early evening around 5:30 PM, and we were one of two parties there so we were able to get promptly seated For our hotpot, we had the spicy mala soup and the Collagen Beauty Milk Pot. For our meat we ordered the combo of meats, which included Special Fatty Beef, Lamb Shoulder, Pork Belly, Pork Shoulder, Thin Sliced Chicken Breast. I would say that the flavor of the soup was not bad, however the soup was not really that spicy. For the meat, the quality is also pretty good. For three people, we did not feel the combo was enough so we then ordered another meat combo, Special Fatty Beef, Marbled Beef, Lamb Shoulder. We used to go to Tasty Pot for personal hot pot, but since we were shopping nearby, we thought we'd try something different. After all, how wrong can you go with hot pot? Well, apparently, quite a bit. The pot was relatively large but filled mostly with bok choy and clear noodles. The meat was mediocre in both tenderness and quantity. The bok choy was overly chewy and hard to swallow, and the pickled bok choy still had part of the root attached (as shown in the picture), which really didn't make it appetizing. There was one shrimp, one mussel, a few small pieces of tofu, a couple of meatballs, a few mushrooms, and some other bits and pieces. The dried bean curd was also too tough to enjoy. Overall, the presentation was poor and the flavor was lacking -- and yet dinner was priced at $24.99 (despite the $18.99 lunch special they advertise). Service was decent, but unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
Came here for lunch as this is the only hotpot place in the Richmond area located inside an Asian mall. The place was empty at lunchtime on a Sunday. Not sure how it is at night. We ordered a combo with pork, beef, lamb, bok choy, Napa cabbage, winter melon, daikon, and sliced fish with kimchi, pork collagen, and mushroom soup. We enjoyed our time and the service as good. I do have to admit that their sauce bar is not big and they are quite pricy compared to a lot of hotpot places I have gone so the combo was more worth it than ordering separate. This is not an AYCE hotpot.
Sadly, my partner and I were not a huge fan. This is not an AYCE, but the quality was decent I think and the broth was good. The place was pretty clean as well. I honestly cannot remember too much about this place other than we weren't really satisfied. We felt we would've gotten better value at an AYCE, but this was fine in terms of helping us portion and pacing ourselves. Lol, and the service could have been a little bit better too. We had to flag people over to get their attention even though there were only 2 or 3 tables in the place. The servers were always in the back hiding for some reason.
I thought this was such a hidden gem. Really good service and lots of good quality food. They allow you to get up to three or four broths. I love that bc I love trying new things. The vegetable portions were big. I recommend Just getting one and then ordering more if you need to. We almost could not finish it. We got three veggie portions.
I've been eyeing this spot for a while, and I never wanted to bite the bullet and try it because of the prices + it's not too often I have a group big enough to eat hot pot together. They finally started doing individual pots, so I decided to go with a friend. I was quite disappointed because of how flavorless the broth was. I also felt a lot of the ingredients were freezer-burned or something, because there was a very off flavor to everything except the veggies and the meat on top. I probably wouldn't come back for the individual pots, but maybe with a group to do normal hot pot.
We had the bone broth and Szechuan hot pot, steak, vegetables, fish balls, beef balls... If you don't like heat go mild
Definitely check them out! They have a great sauce bar and a special for 2 people. The quality of meats is great and also the broth selection. I ordered an extra plate of meat so the special only included one plate but still worth the try! I will go back again. read more
Met here with a couple of friends and left very happy! This location is in a "shopping mall" and has plenty of parking. I have had hotpot plenty of times but not here and I'm very happy I found it! Firstly the price! Some places charge an arm and a leg, while here they have plenty of broth options, large portions and it can truly feed 2-4 people. Got the popcorn chicken - delicious Soup combo - very good portion Service was quick and the food was flavorful Only issue I had was that you had to pay almost $4.00 to use the sauce bar. Yes that price includes - fruit (looked a little mushy) and two drink items - lemonade and winter melon tea. Overall 100% would come back read more

I have been here a couple of times and have been satisfied. I have hotpot at home too but I enjoy the broths here. Once I tried the spicy and it's definitely got a kick that had the top of my head sweating. I also think the herbal broth is delicious. There's a variety of items to make your own sauce, and the staff is friendly. I think the wall of pots is cool too. read more

My friend took me here for a late night meal and it did not disappoint! All the food was so good, portions were very generous and the size of the seafood were huge! Definitely high quality ingredients. I absolutely love the herb broth it was very flavorful. The service was quick and friendly and the owner himself was very kind. Both checked on my table frequently and made sure our dining experience was smooth. I highly recommend this place if you're in the richmond or albany area and craving hot pot! read more
This hotpot place was somewhat mediocre despite looking very tasty in pictures. I loved that we can get multiple soups on one table, making it ideal for groups with a variety of taste buds. However, the disappointment comes from the pricing and waiting. My friend and I shared the meal together and paid $50 each. Most hotpot places come with an unlimited serving of sides, including meat and veggies, but here, everything is priced. Thus, it limits the number of items you can put in your hotpot. Due to the price itself, I say it is not very worth it. We also waited a long time for the meat and veggies to get served to us. I wasn't too sure if they were preparing each item per order, or everything was already pre-chopped. There weren't also a lot of people inside the restaurant. The taste of the broth, though, is good and the meat, veggies, and sides were very fresh. Overall, I would recommend other places, but if this is the only option, especially late at night, then I say just go for it. read more

Stumbled upon this place on our way back from Muir Wood since we wanted some hotpot. We were glad that we could choose up to 4 types of broth and lots of options for meat, veggies, tofu and seafood. Love the ambiance and the interior, will definitely come back for their set menu with beef and seafood. read more
I came to this location on a Tuesday evening with my 4 siblings and the food did not disappoint. We ordered Szechuan Spicy Beef Broth (medium spice level) which was super flavorful it made my tongue feel numb and tingly from all the spices. As someone who indulges in spicy foods, I would recommend getting the MILD spice level, as the medium spice level had me coughing and my nose runny. For our sides, we ordered fatty beef marbled beef angus prime ribeye kobe beef, pork belly, enokki mushroom, bok choy, mentaiko fish balls, instant noodle, white rice, various sauces, and popcorn chicken. My favorite meat choice was of course the fatty beef! It was so delicious when pairing it with the sauces, then adding it to a spoon of soup broth and rice. Talk about a flavor explosion! As for the popcorn chicken, it tasted pretty standard. I thought it was cooked to perfection, though it kind of lacked in flavor. All in all, I give Tastypot nation 4 stars because my cravings were definitely satisfied after this hearty meal. However, I should warn you, there is an extra $2 charge for each person who gets sauce from their station, which my party wasn't warned about prior to getting the sauces. read more
Came here on a weekday. The place had 1 party. Servers were attentive. Soup choices plentiful. But place was a RIPE OFF. They charge everything by item. $6.50/pp for soup. 2.50/pp for sauce. You want a plate of meat.. $68... like I said before. Being true AZN. It's AYCE. This of course is a disappointment. I spend $120 for lunch. So nope not coming back. read more

We came here at around lunch time on a Saturday and there was no wait. You order through scanning a QR code. The restaurant was dark but it was lit up by the TVs inside playing sports/music videos. The tables were also pretty spacious. We ordered two broth flavors: milk pork bone and spicy mala which were both really good. We ordered the meat combo and the vegetable combo which has a good portion and variety. This and some other dishes were enough for 4 of us to eat. For birthdays, you can get $100 credit by signing up for their rewards program. However, you have to remember to use the birthday reward 3 days before, the day of, and 3 days after your birthday. read more

This is not your normal all you can eat hotpot. This is served per plate. You pay each plate. Though it's not AYCE, I enjoyed my dinner here with a friend. They are quite open late so it's good recovery after clubbing or going out with friends. The meat quality was great, although other places can't meet the demand. This restaurant had its own self serve topping bay. Choose your own sauce and toppings! Service was helpful, they do their normal checkups and ask how you are doing. Was here on a Saturday night so it wasn't too busy, average noise I'd say should be around 5-7. I like how this is close to my area and I'd like to visit with a bigger group of friends. The inside is quite nice, bar, TVs, self serve topping bar, and more. read more

THIS WAS THE BEST HOT POT PLACE I'VE EVER HAD. I tried this place two times so far and I'm actually about to try it a third time. LOL. Overall, the veggies and meats were really fresh. There is a huge variety of different veggies, meats, seafood to choose from. The workers were friendly, nice and knowledgeable. Everything seemed to be pretty clean not to mention the ambience was really nice. There is a full bar so you can order your favorite cocktails to enjoy with your dinner. Please note my review is based on my two experiences. Soup base: 10/10 !!! I ordered Kimchi, Pork Collagen and Szechuan Spicy Beef Broth (Hot). All three of these soup bases contained so much flavor. This is what really sets this place apart from any other hot pot place I've been to. If I had to choose, the Pork Collagen was my favorite both times I've gone. The Szechuan spicy beef broth will be second and Kimchi third. I love spicy food so having a soup base that was actually spicy made it much more enjoyable. The Kimchi had a nice tangy flavor to it but not to the point where it was too sour. Meats: First time I ordered the Beef Combo Plate and second time I just ordered the Fatty beef and Marbled beef. Both times the beef was fresh and thinly sliced, perfect for hot pot. Fatty Beef was my favorite. The Marbled beef was a bit more meaty and less fatty. The combo plate was A LOT of meat for just two people especially if you're ordering other seafood/veggies on the side. However, I like the variety and its worth the price for the amount of meat and different cuts you get. Seafood/Veggies/Noodles/Other: Seafood I ordered: Mussels, Shrimp paste, Fish ball with roe. Veggies: Tong Ho, Napa Cabbage, and Oyster Mushroom. Noodles: Udon and Bean thread. Other: Tripe, Chinese donut and Quail eggs. All these items were fresh and delicious. These are pretty much my normal go to when eating hot pot. I loved dipping the Chinese donut into the soup bases. Sauce Bar: Huge variety as you can see in the photo. Please keep in mind, there is a $2 charge per person to have access to the sauce bar. Cons: As much as I give this place 5 stars and I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone, there are some things to keep in mind. This is the most expensive hot pot I ever been to. First time, I spent $200 and then the second time I spent about $150. Both times were just for two people. I like variety when it comes to hot pot so I ordered a lot of different things which is why the price is so high. ALSO, they automatically charge 18% gratuity on your bill even if you're dining for two. I find this to be a bit much as you don't have much interaction with the employees. You scan a QR code and you order everything through your phone. HOWEVER, this will not stop me from eating at this restaurant because I truly believe this place is worth it. read more
Don't let this place located in a random asian "strip mall" plaza next to ranch 99 fool you! Although the location is definitely questionable, this hotpot spot is actually a great time for a party. They're open til midnight every night and they have a legit karaoke system! There's a tiny stage area but it's fun to walk around the restaurant and serenade random guests ;) the staff here is great and friendly and will even come sing with you. You can tell they have a family atmosphere here and everyone loves music ! You can get up to 4 types of broths at one time and they have a lot of choices! Including vegetarian. I enjoyed the collagen one the best. It was great just drinking the soup! They have a variety of combo options which are great to get to share and have a little of everything. Get the seafood combo for a giant clam photo opportunity ;) They do charge per person for broth and for sauce, so beware it can get pricey. Their sauce station was definitely full service tho and had everything you could want. Johnny the owner is super friendly. He also owns the dragongate restaurants (which I love) in SF and oakland. He's opening up new branches in oakland soon , so look out!! Make friends with him and he might drink with your party ;) we came here at 6ish for what we thought would be a low-key Sunday night dinner...and we ended up killing 3 bottles of whiskey and staying til close!!! Just thankful to have a decent hotpot place in this area as it was long overdue. The ingredients are fresh and I love a good sauce bar. They also have a decent selection of Chinese liquor/wine if you're into that. The meat combo is a good deal, it definitely fills you up so the higher price isn't really an issue. I also love the fried rice they have (side note: Foodies in Chongqing/Chengdu be eating some fried rice with their hotpot, it's what's popular on Chinese TikTok right now). I wasn't too into the veggie combo since I prefer to have a good amount of mushrooms, so it's better to order a la carte for me. Waitlist system works well and we waited not too long the last couple of times we went. Please go give this place a try and keep it alive so we can have a hotpot place in this zip code!! if you're looking for a solid late-night meal then hotpot nation is the spot to go in the east bay. their soup base options and variety in meat, veggies, seafood, and other ingredients available to choose from truly makes me feel like im in hot pot heaven. one thing id like to make a note on is the fact that i usually love eating my hot pot ingredients with sauces but with this spot their soup made each ingredient so flavorful/yummy i enjoyed it just as much without the sauces! what i also appreciate about this spot is how their service is more relaxed and laid back. however, if you need something there's a button at your table in which you can press so you can easily grab their attention which is so efficient. highly recommend for yall to check out this place with your friends and family! tips: - you can add different dividers/multiple soup bases in one big pot which allows you to share a fun meal with multiple people with different preferences - lots of parking available - lots of options for various food preferences - perfect for dates, friends, and family read more

I don't know if they assumed we knew what we were doing because we were a mostly Asian group but we definitely found the whole process confusing. Most of our table prefers the AYCE shabouya. The seafood combo plate was awesome. We probably could have ordered more but again no one explain what was in anything Nice concept. Food good. Service meh read more
On a chilly friday, my friend was getting over the lingering frog his his throat. We signed into the yelp iPad as there is no front person, so fyi if you dont want to wait sign in on yelp will lower the wait time. Overall, I love that there is a personal sauce bar, various choices of combos, broths, veggies, seafood, meats etc. For two, we ordered the popcorn chicken to start which was tasty, and a mix of fish filet, whole octopus, oyster mushrooms, napa, fish ball combo and beef combo. It came out to $145, but we did have leftovers so it is decent priced. read more

I was super impressed. This location is in the 99 ranch market. Food came out quick, broth was flavored, hot and had depth to the broth. Vegetables were clean and fresh. Service was quick. This maybe a little pricey for the average hot pot, but it was worth every penny. For two people with two broths with tip it average $130 and it was good! We were super happy. The ordering process was all on the phone and in less than 5 minutes we were served. Sides were reasonable. $2 rice, $5 tofu, $3 soft drinks, $2 per person for sauce bar.
