We ordered the Singaporean style rice noodles and the wok fried noodles - dry style, both vegetarian. The Singaporean noodles were definitely the star, there was actual curry flavor to the dish and it wasn't just a yellow color. The wok fried noodles needed a bit more flavor to the dish, maybe the wet version would've been better. Good amount of vegetables in both dishes. Service was good. The 5th generation server was very helpful in describing different dishes. And explained which sauces were vegan (everything but the hoisin sauce). Wow, Mi has been in business 24 years, and opened right when 99 Ranch first opened in Richmond. The restaurant was handed down from grandfather to father and now to the son. The food quality exceeded expectations, and it was refreshing to get great service and good conversation with the staff on noodle-broth pairings. Glad I and a colleague came here for lunch instead of the usual burger run at Habit. Highly recommended the Lemongrass Pork Rib Soup with Thick Egg Noodles. I prefer chewy, al-dente noodles over slippery, soggy ones. The meat on the ribs was moist and fall-off-the bone and the broth was so good. For an even bigger flavor kick, definitely mix on some of their homemade chili oil! The restaurant also offers beefy noodles made from bone broth, wok stir-fried noodles, and a few rice plates. What's disappointing, though, is the portion size compared to the price. A small bowl of noodles costs around $20, $7 for a kid size cup of Cafe su da, and the fish cakes are about $17. Our meal for three entrees and a couple of appetizers came out to nearly $100. At that price point, there are definitely other options. I understand that prices are generally high these days, but I still expect some value for the cost. Would I come back if I were really craving the noodles? Maybe. It's been ten years since my last review for Mi Southeast Asian Eatery and I still love their food. Teo chow noodles with the soup on the side along with the fried fish cakes are always my go to. This day, I ordered an extra side of the pickled cabbage. Although it was a ton of food, it was the best idea to have the soup separate when boxing the food up. The young man that took my order was extremely nice and even thanked me for ordering the extra cabbage. He told me how much his father prides his pickled cabbage so it was nice to hear. Ordered with the soup on the side. The portion was appropriate for the price and the chili they put out on the tables was flavorful and perfectly complimented everything. OMG blew my Oakland favorite out of the water, everything was so fresh the beef balls, fish balls and fish cake are all made in house which is really hard to find these days. I could taste love in the food, I felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. The flavors were on point the house made chili sauce was like crack which they sell bottles of!! Besides how amazing the food was the owner is so hospitable , carrying on tradition of his family's restaurants. All of my family members love their noodle dishes for decades(since Oakland location) We've moved out of the area but I'm always a returning customer any chance I get, whether I get the chance to dine in or get family members to order take out and drive it to me hours away. We flew back from Las Vegas to SFO and got there late evening, haven't had a single meal yet for the day. We had small children and they're super picky about food so I had to order to go from next door and brought over a few food items so the children can eat and will leave the parents alone and let us enjoy our meal. Next thing you know, the waiter(maybe the owner's son) came yelling, making a big deal about us bringing in outside food saying "no restaurants in the country will allow us to bring in food from outside the restaurant " Got my children startled and asking me (mother) if we're getting kicked out. Made the experience from being nostalgic to extremely negative in an instant. Totally get it if you're a high end restaurant. Did not mean to be disrespectful of any establishment but any owners should be more understanding of families with young children and make some accommodations rather than assume every customer has the intention to disrespect their establishment. I've been to this establishment a couple times before covid. I personally think the Teo Chow Style with Ho Fun is the best dish they have. Keep in mind this is CASH only though. This dish honestly gives me so much nostalgia. I used to always order this in high school during badminton training.
