Hotpot/Shabu Shabu spots in the east bay are few and far in between, especially ones that are AYCE, so when a spot hits it's palpable. After having been a few times over a year or so, I can safely say Azure is in my top for hot pot in the east bay. The tom yum soup is a must get, I enjoy the sauces they provide(especially the spicy chili and cilantro sauce), meats are good quality and service is great. They also have a QR code to make ordering quick and convenient. They also had the best Thai tea soft serve, hoping that comes back one day. Some street parking which is not terrible to find on a weekday evening. It also wasn't very crowded so getting a table was easy. Food comes out fast which is good. So you don't have to worry about ordering everything on the first round. The meat options are fairly good but not abundant in good quality. There's a good amount of options for mushrooms and veggies which is good. I wish there were more options of meat balls and seafood. Broth was usual, nothing spectacular but glad we could get two different flavors for one table. Overall a good option for hot pot ayce. read more

I really enjoyed eating dinner here! I thought that the cost of the all you can eat option was super fair. The quality of the meat was really good, and I also loved the many different types of mushrooms I could boil! Plus, the egg was delightful. I liked soft boiling the egg and then dipping meat in the yolk. The shrimp tempura was also fantastic. I don't think it was tempura, per se, but it was some of the best fried shrimp I've had in recent memory; I don't actually care about the improper nomenclature. It seems to be one of my favorite types of restaurants now. We recently discovered Azure Hot Pot. It was packed full of people, they asked us if we had a reservation, which we did not, but they found a spot for us. So take that into consideration if you want to try it, you might want to call and book a table. I had never ordered all you can eat style before this. Excited to find this Thai/ Japanese hot pot on Shattuck so we decided to give it a try. Clean, college vibes for interior, they were not busy so we got seated right the way. It's AYCE with a few selections.for broth. We decided to try the Tom Yum and Miso. Both broths and the 3 dipping sauces were flavorful. For the AYCE we feel the portion they brought out were very small. The ingredients were fresh enough but perhaps the portion were served on tiny plates that made it feel a bit budgetted. They checked in often enough to see if we would need anything else but for the price and how little everything was we didn't find the value in it. Also the side dishes were not good very school cafeteria like, the smallest dingy bowl.of fried rice, dry pot sticker, I can barely finished one tiny tempura shrimp...so I get the little bite side serving, since you can't finish them anyway...lol Btw a small cup of hot tea with a tea bag is $3. You could ask for more hot water but perhaps a pot with the same one tea bag is better...I have mix feeling about it, since there aren't too many Thai and Japanese hot pot in one location we may come back to eat but still feel that it is not worth the price. Had a lot of expectation for this place. As the only japanese AYCE hotpot in town, it doesn't really have much competition. The meat here is of descent quality, the Tom Yum soup is great, though the Sukiyaki soup lacks some flavor for the beef that is supposed to be accompanied by only egg. The service quality though... One of the waitresses has been really passive aggressive to food order, especially beef. She makes comments about you shouldn't order this much, despite all I have was six plates. It is nice that they have the online ordering system, so that they should just bring what u order. Yet in reality, in my second order, they served me everything EXCEPT beef. Seriously, this is a AYCE spot. At one point when I have only sat for 40 minutes, she already gives me the bill and asking me if I was all done, while my order was still half filled. Even after I ask them for the missing beef in my order, they cut the number and serves me 2 plates for the 6 I ordered. It was infuriating when this place is advertised as AYCE and the option I paid should cover it all. If you cant afford the beef, make them limited or label it in your menu. When you finally did get a chance to flag down the staff, only about a quarter of the stuff we ordered actually came out. I ordered some of the appetizers, but we never actually got them. It took me requesting rice like 3 times for me to get it. Overall the food quality is really good, but not sure if it's worth the steep price and lackluster service. Also, be warned one of their dipping sauces is extremely spicy. Also, there seems to be limited ventilation which was kind of an issue.
