As a self-proclaimed gym rat who enjoys training in multiple settings (group classes, personal…read moretrainers and on my own); Orangetheory Fitness is what I consider 'exercise heaven'. For me it's like working out with a personal trainer in a group setting. Orangetheory Fitness has been a part of my workout routine for the last ~5 years. I've been coming to this location since ~March 2024 and I am a huge fan of it. An Orangetheory workout is based on the five heart rate training zones with the goal being to spend at least 12 minutes in the Zone 4 (Orange) to ensure the best caloric burn. Each workout consists of time on the treadmill, rower and strength training. On top of these workouts, Orangetheory also offers a 'strength and resistance training' workout that involves very little cardio. On the flip side, they also offer a cardio only workout. Regardless of the workout chosen, it will be challenging and there will be a variety as the the workout changes daily. Note, it's okay if running is not your thing as there is a power walk option on the treadmill. And if that's not an option for you, there is also a bike and a strider available for use. In addition to the level of difficulty (i.e. the challenge) the key focus of an OTF workout are the heart-rate zones with goal being to spend 12 minutes or more in Zone 4 (uncomfortable) and Zone 5 (all-out effort) as one can. If you're like me and want to see how you're doing, OTF has several types of wearables that monitor heart-rate along with displaying your results on the screens inside the exercise room. While these are not required they are another tool to help manage progress. In the end, as the coaches remind us, while those zones are key the goal is to feel like you were challenged by the workout. Speaking of the coaches, the coaches at this location (hey Chantel, Carlee, Carly, Efren) are very friendly and super supportive. In each class, it's possible to have participants working on the treadmill, the rowers, and strength training all at the same time. As a coach, they must manage instructions for each group which I'm sure can be challenging. Add to that, if someone is new to Orangetheory (or even new to exercising), they require a little extra time and the coaching team here does an excellent job of managing it all. The coaches do an excellent job of creating a sense of community and do their best to get to know people on an individual level. They encourage you to do your best and when necessary challenge you to do more (they can tell when you're not giving it 100%). I appreciate that they give a lot of attention to form and ensuring exercises are performed correctly. This is often overlooked but is extremely important as it prevents injuries. And if that wasn't enough, they do an awesome job of keeping the workouts fun. Yes, I said it, FUN!!!! I cannot leave out the front desk staff; they are always very welcoming and do a great job of answering questions, assisting people with their accounts, providing wrist bands or chest straps and just overall handling the daily operations. A big kudos to them as they are the glue that makes this work. They do what they do which allows the coaches to focus on what they enjoy. Lastly, this location is well maintained. The exercise room is clean, and the equipment is always in in proper working order. There are also a couple of showers which are convenient if one wants to work out before the workday or during the lunch hour. If you're looking to energize your exercise routine (or start one), I highly recommend checking out this Orangetheory Fitness. The team will welcome you in with open arms and have you working up a sweat in no time. Be prepared to work hard and have fun doing it.

He just opened up…read morethis studio (in theheart of West Village) a couple of months ago and his classes can accomodate up to 20 people at a time. Since this is a new venture, the classes have been averaging about 6 people - so you really get some personal attention for a small amount of money. It's a great 48 minute workout. 8 minutes on the treadmill and then 8 minutes doing weights/ropes/other moves. You do each of those 3 times. I believe the goal is to get your heart rate up using the cardio so you can really burn the fat when working the muscles...although Danny can explain it better than I can. The studio targets certain areas of your body (he offers different types of classes that target the different areas) to get it sculpted in the fastest way possible. If you are looking to lose weight or just move weight around within your body (to the better places) this is the place for you.

If you live in the area, this place is a must for people who are serious about getting their bodies into shape, and for bikini/ swimsuit season!

For years, I felt too intimidated and too out of shape to try boxing classes, but after trying my first class with Lia, was insta-hooked. Offbeat classes are now a core component of my weekly exercise routine; I love that I'm getting a killer workout while also learning a new skill. Their Spin & Circuit training classes are excellent too, and every class has a healthy mix of beginners and seasoned athletes alike. I am a true beginner and have never felt out of place. Did I mention that the price is ridiculously reasonable? A studio of this quality would be 3x the price in Uptown and likely would not have the same friendly, down-to-earth, and downright dope-ass instructors/students that offbeat has. Lia, Mark, Manny, and Antonio are my fav for boxing and I love that they have distinct styles, techniques, and areas that they focus on. I'm due to try Jill's sculpt class or one of the Spin classes. If you're still reading this, quit wasting your time and sign up for a class! You won't regret it, and classes for new joiners are practically free.
