He told her that he tried the website but it wasn't working and she said "that happens all the time". When we arrived on Friday at 5:00, the woman said she didn't see a reservation for us. My partner said that he called the day before and made the reservation, she was very rude, saying they were booked and she did not see a reservation for the 2 of us. My partner reiterated that he called Thursday (he's quite sure that he actually spoke with her) she said she'd try to get us a table, but we needed to be done by 6:30. She instructed someone else to seat us. Within minutes, someone approached our table and introduced himself as the owner and said very loudly and aggressively, so customers could hear "if you ever talk to one of my employees like that again, swearing and using foul language, you'll be banned from the restaurant!" I calmly said to him "he was not rude to her, he absolutely did not swear or use foul language, he does NOT do that." A good manager who cares about his customers would have handled this differently- "good evening. I understand you had issues making a reservation, tell me about that". We have been to so many amazing restaurants in Tucson, no need to patronize a place where the owner treats customers so poorly. We left and went to a very popular restaurant. The place was packed, yet we saw the owner who greeted us and asked if we had a reservation, we said "no". He said "that's ok, I'll get you a table". We had a great experience.

Have I finally found the promised land of fish tacos in Tucson? I think so…read more La Palma may be the closest experience in Tucson to the Baja fish tacos I could find throughout Southern California. Their big white food trailer is topped with a large blue tarp that shades a comfortable seating area. The location is kiddy corner from a gleaming white church at the opposite side of the intersection. In a short time, La Palma has become my go-to for fish tacos because the quality is consistent and they know how to dress the tacos with the right combination of flavors. Additionally, they make a mean horchata that compliments the meal perfectly. I'm probably in the wrong crowds because I have not heard other people mention La Palma while praising quite lesser places. I don't get it. All I can say is that for those SoCal folks who are passing through Tucson and are hankering for good fish tacos, pull up to La Palma and be overjoyed. P.S. Sam's Club and Costco are a bit of a drive for us Valiens but I think when Costco AND Sam's open their new stores On Old Vail Road and Swan and 29th street HRM is going to to be in trouble because of their pricing. I believe they call their meat selection Special/Choice, which is a new one to me.
