The food is consistent and served late, which is great for people like me who often get out of work late. Unfortunately, there aren't as many vegetarian options as I'd hoped. For example, the margarita flatbread, which doesn't have meat toppings but classifies as non-veg because "the sauce is cooked in the same pot as meat". However, they do label all of the veg items with a V, so that's good. There is a huge variety of mixed drinks and the desserts are phenomenal. Overall, it's dependable and great for late night food, but ultimately nothing special. read more

For what it is, it was better than most. Very decent wine and drink selection. I had a Sauvignon Blanc and it was good. Even better was a generous wine pour that saved me a third glass. Great! I was feeling PMSish so I ordered small nachos (still pretty big), Asian lettuce wraps (excellent) and a filet mignon salad (very delicious and fresh). It was very good chain restaurant food. A busy bustling place. Service was great and friendly. They had much seating available. They had a great potato soup with cheese and bacon on top. They had some great smothered nachos. The bacon burger w fries was great and so was the mini sliders. The ahi tuna salad was different than I remember from the other location but it wasn't too bad. Great Happy Hour drinks and appetizers! I really enjoy sitting at the bar, having some appetizers and a dirty martini. I'm gluten free as I always start off. I have my favorite dish each time I go to Houlihans, scallops wit Risotto. The wait staff is wonderful and so are the managers. I'm always very pleased after eating here. My first review!! Here goes! I've been going to Houlihan's for a couple years, and I don't ever remember leaving this place unsatisfied. First off, the restaurant itself is a nice place to go to for a casual friends' night out, or a 'not too ridiculously expensive' date. The bar section has alot of flat screen TVs. The regular sitting/dining area is pretty big. There's plenty of booth seating (which is a plus, since I don't like sitting at tables with chairs in the middle of the aisles). Dim lighting inside the restaurant can be a plus or minus, depending on who you ask. The service is.. ehh.. pretty good most of the time. I just remember one time my empty water glass remained empty for a good twenty minutes!! = pet peeve..otherwise, they seem to stay on top of things, and take care of their customers. On to the important stuff, the FOOOD!! I'm a huuuuuge fan of three specific menu items: 1) 'Shrooms, 2) Thai Chili Chicken Wings, and 3) Mustard Encrusted Salmon. These 3 items can blow anything from TGIF, Ruby Tuesday's, or Applebees out of the water. My wife is also in love with the Lettuce Wraps and Calamari from the Houlihan's appetizer menu. She's also sitting next to me while I type this, and keeps reminding me to include the fact that Houlihan's "Curbside/To-Go" food is just as good as eating the food inside their restaurant. We've been to places (which will remain nameless) where the takeout food did not match the taste, presentation, and overall quality of their eat-in food. Their appetizer menu itself has so many choices that can fill you up like a standard entree can, all for less than $10 each! So do your stomach a favor, and go eat at Houlihan's. My son took my husband and I to Houlihans for dinner. I had stuffed chicken breast with green beans and fries. Nice hot and delicious chicken, cold fries, room temperature green beans. My son had the chicken tenders , loaded fries. Nice hot and delicious chicken, cold loaded fries. My husband had the 12 oz New York Strip steak, double order of mashed potatoes. Cold steak, cold potatoes. He sent it all back and by the time my son and I finished our respective chicken (discarded the cold veggies and fries), his replacement dinner still hadn't come. When it finally did, steak was hot but chewy, potatoes barely room temp. Our server was very, very nice. Sorry I didn't get her name. Very disappointing to leave good, paid for food, when all it needed was to be hot, and having to send things back, is not only an annoyance for us, but I'm sure it is for the staff as well. read more

Wish I could leave 0 stars. Been going to this place for about 3 years and have never had something like this happen. Service was awful and took forever. We saw our waiter 3 times every 45 minutes and food was gross. Food took forever and it wasn't even busy. When my party and I kindly asked for the check we were talked bad about by the hostess and staff. If I could put zero stars I would, today's service was the worst and I've come here a couple of times already but I will not coming back to this location. First we were sat down and asked for drinks I asked for a simple 2 cokes and one water went ahead also put in our order for everything because we were there for a quick lunch we got there at 2:45 didn't leave till 4:00. Our appetizers were brought out before our drinks the server didn't even notice we had to say something 20 minutes later because he took so long I no longer wanted my coke so we asked if it could be switched to 1 coke 2 waters was told yes and he showed up with the 2 cokes either way we didn't think much of it because he took so long maybe he wasn't going to charge us. We had asked for our desserts to go because the wait was terribly long and even that took about 20 minutes after we had already packed everything in our take home boxes we started questioning if they had forgotten about our dessert still no check either. When we finally got our check and dessert at the same time. We were still charged for the the two sodas which I had let go because yes we did receive them but I decided I was going to leave a smaller tip due to the time it was taking and not listening to instructions. I payed through their touch-less pay option stated on the receipt and headed out when I was stopped in the parking lot by the waiter asking if I was going to pay. I couldn't believe what was happening. I showed him my emailed receipt and was asked to go inside to show his manager (meanwhile I'm 9 months pregnant due at any moment) I waddled back and spoke to the manager where all he had to say was "I'm sorry". He didn't know that the touch-less pay was an option. How are you a manager?? I complained about how long everything took and his servers mistakes, that he was lucky I still left him a tip and that I didn't complain before leaving. I still wasn't offered any kind of compensation and I'm way too prideful to ask for any. I just walked out completely upset. I used to enjoy coming here what a shame! read more

One of the best Houlihan's location in NJ. The only chain restaurant my husband and I frequent. We are always greeted warmly by the hostess no matter what time of day we visit. We always sit at the bar and Joe the bartender is the best bartender hands down in the area. Always attentive throughout our visit from start to finish, never missing a beat, even when the bar is full. Al, the manager is outstanding! You see his active presence helping the staff, greeting the customers, running food, making things right. We've been regulars for the last 4 years and this place never disappoints, unless Joe is off and a different bartender is covering. Food is dependable and consistent. Three of us had entrees and beers in the bar area this afternoon. I was impressed with the beer selection. I had the Duvel Belgian ale. Yum. I enjoyed the fish n chips; best around by far. We ordered from the Brick location and the food wasn't as good. The chicken tender platter was over fried and my husband threw them out. Definitely not worth the price. The stuffed mushrooms we love but they were also over fried and kind of flat. The food hasn't been as good as it used it be. Houlihans is usually my favorite chain restaurant and my family and I have been coming to this location for YEARS. We always come when they have special promotions and order our usual favorites. Today, the food was great, but the service, not so much. As soon as we walked in, we were barely even looked at by the group of hostesses. The first thing a hostess SHOULD do is kindly greet each and every customer. It was a terrible first impression. After our table was ready, again it took far too long for even one of the FOUR hostesses standing behind the counter to pay us any attention! I've been coming here for years and never had an issue until today. First of all, there's a new manager. Upon entering, we were told we had to wait (5 minutes), so no problem. Meanwhile many tables were empty and we were called to our table 2 minutes later. Great! We ordered food for our son first and his food came out quickly ... so far so good. Then, we ordered our food and it took forever. During this time nobody asked if we even wanted refills on our drinks until I mentioned it when the waitress was passing. Finally the food came out - with the appetizer. Not only should the appetizer have come out first, but it was also cold. When the waitress came over, I asked her to send it back. She asked me if I wanted something else or to credit me. I said, "credit me for the part of the pre-fix" to which the reply I got was, "actually the spinach and lavash wasn't part of the prefix, only the chips" so it was charged as an appetizer ($11.99). Nobody informed me of this prior to the order coming out. I said refund me. Then I asked about me not getting the first part of my prefix. Meanwhile the ranch dressing from my salad was missing and the waitress asked me what I wanted for dessert while I was still eating my burger ‍ . At the end when we got our check, my sons apple juice was charged in addition to the kids meal. I had enough and asked to see the manager (usually the gentleman in the past was always walking around) who apologized and took off $3.75 for the drink. After I expressed how extremely disappointed I was, she took off $15. I didn't look at the bill and paid immediately to be able to leave after a long evening. Turns out, I paid tax on a $72 meal that included the spinach & lavash that I sent back and the juice... this is all so minor but I have to express my frustration at the level of service. The TV in the bar we were seated by was distorted and it was SUPERBOWL!! There was a dish bucket the Bus Boys use in the ladies room as the roof was leaking. The bucket was on a stand in front of the doors to get into stalls. ladies room smelled. We went gor my birthday and to watch game, as we do every year. I've reviewed this Houlihans location before but after tonight I wanted to write another review. My family and I went to Houlihans tonight to celebrate my sister's birthday. She called ahead and put her name on the wait list. She was quoted at time of 25-35 minutes. We all met up there and had to wait about an hour to be seated. Although this was annoying and an inconvenience the hostess explained to us why it was taking longer than expected. Also, the manager on duty, I'm sorry I don't have his name (and I should because I go here often and he's always there), gave us some free appetizers to make up for the wait. We also had a great waitress. She was friendly, attentive and answered any questions we had.
