I came in on St. Patrick's Day,using my birthday coupon. I ordered the corned beef platter with cabbage,potatoes,carrots,horseradish cream, and Irish soda bread.The corned beef was dry, chewy, and brown, not pink, however I don't believe anything was actually wrong with it. The cabbage had no flavor, as though it had been cooked in plain water.The carrots and potatoes were a little tough, and the carrots looked dry. The horseradish cream didn't taste like there was any horseradish in it, and the tiny piece of thin Irish soda bread fell apart as soon as I touched it. Yes I ate most of my meal without a complaint- I should have.St. Patrick's Day is a fun, light hearted holiday that comes only once a year.It stands to reason that you should have someone in the kitchen who actually knows what they are cooking. Honestly I haven't been here in years because it's a bit pricey but I had an appointment in another building nearby and was looking for a quick lunch. I got a cup of their potato soup and that's amazing! Nice big chunks of bacon in it, the soup was hot enough so the shredded cheese on top could melt nicely into the soup, very good. I only had the chicken Parmesan sandwich and that was nice and hot with big portions of chicken which I appreciate for the price. I should start coming here more often read more

I came here quite a few times when was living in Holmdel and i always had a great time. Food was excellent i especially loved their Veggie burger and veggie club sandwich with hummus, it was delicious. For the beginning i would recommend the stuffed mushrooms. I had the Asian lettuce wraps & the Caesar salad. Both were excellent. I didn't get anything to drink (beer/alcohol) but the drink menu looked pretty extensive. Fair prices and our food came out quickly once we placed the order. My only complaint would be the service. Houlihan's has been my favorite chain restaurant for quite some time, and this location is one of the best in the chain. We went here last night for dinner around 7:30 pm and once again had a great meal experience. The restaurant was full, as one might expect for dinner. We were sitted immediately. Place was beautifully decorated for Halloween. For the appetizer we shared the cream chesse stuffed "shrooms". Absolute perfection! Had the vegetarian burger. The caramelized onions were terrific. For dessert, crème brulle and the chocolate cappuccino cake. The cake is a pretty big slice served with chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Service is great. Server was attentive at all times and a manager "touched up" the table to see how things are going. If you are looking for a good dining experience in a chain restaurant, this is your place. read more

Do not eat at this restaurant. Went there for dinner it is the dirtiest place I've ever been to. The floors in the restaurant, the kitchen and bathrooms are disgusting. The staff were sleeping in the booths until customers showed up. The manager is clueless. I now know why this company has closed so many restaurants and is going bankrupt. read more

Lets not mince words. It's Houlihans. A franchise that's a small step up from Fridays and Chilis etc. Not gourmet, but consistently good food and drinks. The Houli's in Holmdel has been very popular since it opened, and since I live close by, I'm a steady customer. I find myself mostly on the bar side, which is usually always hopping. The bartenders are awesome, and the bar is pretty big. There are 7 or 8 televisions, and it's not a bad place to catch a game. They always put on whatever you want to see. It's also well kept. Very clean. They have that NTN thing where you can play trivia etc. My only complaint about the bar is that the soda is consistently flat, and I don't know why. My drink of choice is Captain Morgan and coke...so it's def a point of contention. As for the food, again, it is what is is. Good, consistent franchise food. One of my regular hang outs. read more

I prefer not to eat at chain restaurants but something about the shrooms here are so nostalgic to me - they're still as good as they were when I was a kid. Also love the happy hour they have at the bar area, which includes deals on small plates and a range of drinks and draft beer. I use to come here A LOT when I was younger!!! I was in the area at a wellness event. We left there to go eat and decided to come to Houlihan's. Checking in on Yelp you get a free appetizer up to $10 when you order two adult entrees. Let's just say there aren't many appetizers that are less than $10, but they will take off up to $10 on any one that you order. We went with the potato skins since they were less than $10 and we didn't want to pay for it (HA). They weren't too bad. I ended up ordering my usual from back in the day...the buffalo chicken sandwich with ranch dressing instead of blu cheese. I have always ordered this and have always loved it!!! I also ordered either a miller lite or bud light draft and that was reasonably priced (about $5). Nice little dinner with friends!! read more

A solid chain restaurant with nothing to complain about. The menu is all encompassing, with whatever you're in the mood for. The service was friendly and quick and the prices were what you expected. The restaurant itself was clean and nicely laid out. Overall it was a good meal. We stopped in for lunch and split nachos and the chicken lettuce wraps. Although Houlihans has faded over the years, I can say that personally my experience has succeeded in providing consistent meals. My go to entree is a buffalo chicken sandwich and for the past 10 years they have brought me the same spicy goodness I'm used to. Grabbing a quick lunch with my family this weekend! Wasn't too crowded for a Saturday afternoon, thus service was quick and efficient. We started off with some bruschetta which was perfect , not too much garlic or overpowering goat cheese, fresh and crispy, and there was a lot on the plate! My husband and I decided to go for some soup and salad combo: he had some crab bisque and a bbq salmon salad, very big portions of you are hungry lol I had some French onion soup and a side Caesar salad . It was actually my first time trying the soup and I don't think I'm a big fan of it , however with some bread it wasn't too bad! I also got one of the specialty drinks for $10 in a huge glass , was nice and refreshing, needed a bit more alcohol though. And did I mention the gigantic piece of ice-cream cake that I got?! We go to this Houlihan's OFTEN, and I generally order my favorite " Tuscany Lemon Chicken", but I got daring last night and ordered the fish tacos. First, let me say that the part I was able to eat was absolutely delicious! However, the tortillas themselves were small and delicate. THEY WERE SO OVERSTUFFED with the delicious filling that the filling fell out with every bite. Eventually, the tortillas totally fell apart. Nevertheless, I gathered all of it up and brought it home because it was too delicious to be thrown away! My suggestion is that they serve 3 tacos with a little less filling in each. This place has good food and fast service that keeps bringing us back. We often go to get their half priced appetizers (4-close weekdays at the bar). The highlights are the best chicken fingers and pretty good spinach dip. I am a huge fan of tapas at every meal so this works. Quickly replacing Applebee's Half off appetizers as the American casual sit down choice among us Holmdel kids. Stopped in here with a family member for lunch. This was my first time visiting this particular Houlihans and it was an alright experience with good service. I ordered my usual herbed chicken and my guest ordered the fish and chips, which was apparently a new entree on their menu. Both items were delicious, well seasoned, and tasted fresh. My guest commented that the fish was fried perfectly and crispy. I attempted to try a strawberry lemonade, but was informed they had run out of strawberry syrup. So I couldn't order any drink that included strawberry syrup. I was annoyed and looking forward to an alcoholic drink lol, so I settled for a pear mojito. That tasted good and was similar to fruit juice. Very sweet. I also used the buy two entrees and get a free desert coupon from Yelp. Tried the strawberry cheesecake. I actually didn't like that at all. It had a weird consistency and tasted strange. That was the only thing I didn't like. Also had a chance to speak with the general manager Chris who apologized for them not having the strawberry syrup. To make up for that, he gave me his card and offered a free appetizer for my next visit. Thanks Chris! Lol...I'll definitely come back again. No one came out after 5 minutes so I went inside. Figured I should go inside because I was paying with credit so it would save the person from making several trips. Well what do I get for my kindness? Soggy fries, chunks of inedible bacon, hard as a rock buns & the absolute strangest thing I've ever seen in all my takeout experiences.... Went to Houlihans last Saturday for a quick afternoon meal with my wife. We were seated in the bar in a booth, which is what we asked for. The waitress didn't introduce herself, nor did she make eye contact, as she was too interested in what the discussion was at the refreshment area, where the other wait staff was standing. When we didn't order drinks (alcohol that is), she became even less interested if that is possible. We ordered, so she went and started chatting with the bartender before finally putting in our order. I would normally leave because of this, but we were hungry and thought what the heck, let's go to Houli's as they're usually pretty good for what we knew we wanted. Bad decision overall. read more
