We used to bring our dog here, but when we called to make an appointment, the person who answered said our pup needed a rabies booster. According to his app veterinary records, he isn't due for another five months, and our vet confirmed he's fully up to date on all vaccines. We just want to ensure he isn't given anything unnecessary or anything not recommended by his veterinarian. Was debating on writing a review but the people need to know .... My pup somehow had an ear infection right after I went here sometime in March and I noticed it immediately the next day after grooming. My vet was available so I was able to get an appointment and exam to see what happened. I told my vet I went here and she was surprised the groomer didn't tell me about the ear infection (if it happened prior to grooming) and insisted that I don't come here again. Usually groomers will tell you if your dog has fleas or an infection but Hound Lounge was silent. Only been here twice for cuts and once for day care trial, and I haven't been back since. There was a lady who used to work at the front who was super helpful my first time I went in October 2024, but this new guy who works at the front desk in March 2025 did not care whatsoever. I also felt sus that there was barely any dogs in the day care and saw a comment/review that they don't even take care of the dogs .... And I noticed there's only one water bowl... I've gone to a different groomer and I've noticed my puppy was happier coming back and the cut they did was much better and now my dog's hair is growing evenly. Before I never noticed since she had only gone to hound lounge but now I see how little care they did compared to others ... in addition, you don't even talk to the groomer at hound lounge just the receptionist who tells the groomer what you want (so weird) .. so you don't even know who's cutting your dog ... but other groomers you actually TALK to the person washing and cutting your dog ... that's how it should be.. I also saw a post on Reddit about this place how the people that groom aren't professionals. Not sure how accurate that is but I can believe it if that's true.. Yeah don't go here. The new staff is far kinder and more accommodating than the last so I thought I'd give this location another try since it's in my neighborhood. Sadly they didn't gain my trust. I communicated that my dog is a sweetheart-super nice with people & no muzzle needed but not good with other dogs and she wiggles/thrashes for nail trims. It's a two man job. I also asked that any dogs loose in the back be secured to avoid conflict. My dog has been painful and limping since her nail trim & it's upsetting. They never secured the dog(s) in the back and the person assisting the groomer went out back to smoke leaving one person to attempt the n/t by herself. When I brought forth my concerns and asked if dogs were loose around my dog the answer was "omg no, absolutely not, just the groomers dog but he's well trained" ‍ I'm grateful a fight didn't occur but it was upsetting that the 2 things I said went in one ear/out the other and days later my dog is still in a great deal of pain bc directions were not followed. We've taken our little Westie mix here 2-3 times and the grooms have been fantastic every time especially since he's a bit difficult to handle! I love that they let him play in the little dog area after he's done and we can peek in and see him since the office has glass windows in the front and back. Their office is clean and they do a great job with the groom. Whoever we had for our dog 7/19/2023 (sorry I can't remember the name) was fantastic with him! The biggest downside definitely has been their lack of organization and multiple times when I've called, they needed to take my number down to be called back by the scheduler. I don't understand why they don't just have that person answer the phone then? Warning! Brought my dog in for a half day. Was hesitant because no one was in the shop - after waiting someone finally came into the daycare area. He acted like he didn't care and without much effort let my dog in the pen. As soon as I left the store he went back in the back room and left 5 dogs alone. I checked before I left and he still had not come back to watch the dogs left in daycare. I had an appointment so though I didn't want to leave my dog I had to. After my appointment I came back and still no human in the room. After waiting for a long time, decided to take my dog myself - he then came in. I paid and he left the daycare area. I sent an email, asking they confirm all this - so I could bring my dog back and never email me back. Good luck leaving a dog at this facility. They might be small dogs but still should not be left alone for long periods of time. They are safer at home than at this facility read more

Dishonest people & their employees are not trained. I sat there with my 2 dogs for 1 hr for a nail cut. The week prior I made an appt & it was like I was talking to the wall. She took my $ while I was waiting & eventually I walked out with no service. Other people showed-up just as mad. The owner needs to get it together or her business is going to fail. Overall super weird experience. I am not returning that's for sure. I booked an appointment over email with the front desk staff earlier in the week. Note: I mentioned to them I have two large dogs via email + my dog has been there before! I have two doodles 60-70lbs. They recommended a day and we booked it. Called me a few days later asking if I could come in earlier that day, I said sure. We get there for our appointment and the lady who was scheduled to do the maintenance cuts (not even full grooming) comes out and seems super hesitant. I didn't catch her name but she had short black hair. Made me uncomfortable like she didn't have time, didn't want to groom them or just was overbooked. I even said "I feel weird energy - I can just reschedule or cancel". Her response: "they are just big" and "it could take 4-5 hours" front desk staff overheard the conversation and chimed in and asked about her work load and how many dogs she had back there still needing to be groomed. They were almost bickering which was awkward. Seemed like she had a few other dogs at the same time and that she didn't want to do it. I cancelled and walked out. The groomer didn't seem apologetic / had attitude about how many dogs she was grooming. This isn't my problem. Your team shouldn't have overbooked and maybe should tell you the size dogs you have coming in and what they are doing to plan accordingly. Customer's experience should be number one. I made an appointment on February 3rd to get my dog groomed at 11am on February 19th. I called and e-mailed them and received confirmation from both methods of contact. Well, I showed up for my appointment today and found that their storefront is completely closed up for emergency repairs. I received no call or e-mail about the closure or to be made aware that my appointment would be cancelled. I am leaving the state in a few days and every grooming business in the area is booked on such short notice. I work in food service and have been working throughout the pandemic. I understand that staff shortages and increased demands from patrons are a very real thing. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is absolutely unacceptable. I requested time off work just to make it to this appointment so the least they could have done is let their upcoming appointments know of the closure. Don't give them your time. Especially considering I'm not the only one experiencing this. Also looking back at negative reviews they managed to severely injure a dog. read more

I'm not usually one to leave reviews, but I was very hopeful of this salon when I stopped at Lunardi's for groceries. Let me say I am not impressed. The staff is friendly and was very happy to help answer my questions but I had such a hard time hearing them over the barking! I would have loved to bring Bella, but with her being a rescue I'm not certain she would be comfortable in such a hectic play area. She's a Great Dane but she's a big baby and I know she would just nap on the couch anyway! And I would never want her crated again after spending all those years in a cage before I brought her home so that's not even close to an option if I had her in for a quick bath! I tried to ask if there was anything they could do to quiet the barking of that cavilier but they admitted they couldn't do anything since the dog was in for day care. This place is a more $$ than I expected it, but maybe that's because I'm comparing it to my prior grooming place, which shall remain unnamed. What prompted me to seek a new place was that they first didn't cut my dog's hair the way I wanted (they took "partial" to mean "no trim"), then the following visit they shaved him without telling me, saying that his hair was matted and "don't worry, it'll grow out", and the last visit there my dog was clearly uncomfortable going with his groomer (maybe he was scared he'd be shaved again). Anyway, all of the above led me to seek this place (3 strikes you're out), and so far so good. His haircut, while more expensive, was very professional and just what we wanted. The only thing I wasn't particularly fond of is that they make dogs wait in their gated waiting room, and my dog was looking at me behind it wondering why he wasn't with me, which made me feel kind of bad. Also there was another dog that while smaller than mine was also waiting and was glaring at him. But overall hopefully I won't have to switch groomers again, since I know how hard it can be, both for the owners and the dog. So it's a big thumbs up for me! read more

Hound Lounge does a relatively good job at grooming my labradoodle every 6-weeks. Each time we've taken him (approaching 10+ visits now) he comes back with a perfect cut and always smells fresh. Where Hound Lounge goes wrong is their lack of communication. They're HORRIBLE at confirming your appointment and keeping you updated on the status of the grooming. On top of this, they ALWAYS take 1-2 hours longer than they quote - typically totaling 5 hours for a groom. I appreciate their attention to detail, but the lack of communication/updates keeps you wondering when you need to go back to pick up your dog. Really hoping that Hound Lounge can turn things around - if they don't I'm sure they'll start to see folks turn to other groomers with similar quality and better communication. read more

It is a failing business. - They have been disintegrating since they moved from Walnut Creek. As mentioned in other reviews they closed last year for a long period of time for "emergency" repairs....understand that emergencies happen, but there was no proactive communication about when to expect a reopening. - Now that they are open again, apparently they can't manage their workforce well as appointments get cancelled without rescheduling or giving any insights into how we can get back in. - Frequently they don't answer the phones, so one has to stop in. - Seems like they only have 1 person that can make appointments, So even if you stop in, might not be able to make an appointment as not everyone is trained. DO NOT LET HOUND LOUNGE GROOM YOUR DOG. THEY INJURED MY DOG PLUS THE WORST GROOM EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN TEN YEARS! I HAVE BEEN HAVING MY DOG GROOMED FOR 10 YEARS....THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE WORST. The first time I entrusted my dog to them to be groomed, in the time promised he would be ready, he was not even completely bathed and they handed me my soaking wet dog that was not fully cleaned and not brushed. The second time, I gave them another chance, they cut my dog's nail down so low it was bleeding, left matts on my dog under his chin, did not give me the cut I requested, unevenly shaved him, left an long clump of hair sticking up on his head 3 inches higher than the rest and left the stain area on my dog's face all still there (mouth, snout etc) on a white dog. The owner asked the groomer to fix the errors as best as possible, and the groomer looked at me and said "Go find somebody else" and left slamming the door. The owner made lame EXCUSES for the disrespectful and just plain mean behavior and did not offer to comp the HORRIBLE groom with the insulting groomer. My poor dog is still licking his bloody nail. The owner offered to trim the dog again but by this time, and the texting from the owner that made excuses for the mean behavior of her groomer, I had NO hope left for Hound Lounge. The owner said she hires people with no people skills to groom and won't let them talk to customers. I assume she is hiring minimum wage workers to save a buck, who actually do not have sufficient grooming experience or ANY customer service skills. This is not right, a person should be able to speak with their dog's GROOMER, not just the fake face that says hello and hands the dog off. Why would I take another trip to Hound Lounge - that would equate to THREE trips to Hound Lounge to obtain ONE groom and my dog got injured in the process. RIDICULOUS. Plus with no offer to comp. I was told 2-3 hours when I bought my dog in, when I got there they said someone called in sick, well I received four reminders about my appointment. NO one could pick up the phone, so they said it would be an hour longer at the most, ok 3-4 hours, then 5 hours went by and call after call NO one answered, we finally left a message, and drove to remove our pet. I tried trimming mini-beasts nails once and will never do that again. Who would have thought so much blood could come from a nail! So when it's the weekend and I'm running hard trying to cross off as much on my list as I can before happy hour (yes, there's happy hour on the weekends, ok), I can walk in anytime and get her nails trimmed. They do a great job and it's only $20.! Way long ago when I had to work out of an office I would occasionally take Lu to HL for daycare. They always remembered her name, they were happy to see her (and her to see them) and she never freaked out about being left. All the other doggies there seemed happy and well cared for. I've not used their overnight boarding service but because of the positive experiences I've had with Hound Lounge, it's the only boarder I would consider leaving my furboo with overnight. read more

Hound Lounge has been our regular grooming spot for our dog Kygo, mostly for baths and nail trims. I appreciate that they allow walk-ins for nail trims, which is not always the case at other places, since it allows for more scheduling flexibility. I've never had an issue where my dog's nails were cut too short, as they're very careful. Maybe even a little too careful, because there are times when I notice that one or two nails could have been trimmed a bit shorter. With that said, my pup can be very finnicky with nail trims and often stubbornly pulls his paw away, so that could very well be why. As much as he hates nail trims, my dog is never fearful of the employees here, as they're very patient and kind with him. Also love that Hound Lounge has a daycare area for the dogs that are booked for daycare or waiting for/waiting after a grooming appointment. It's quite spacious for small/medium dogs, and it's a dream for friendly, social dogs that love being around other dogs and need some interaction and play. read more
