After 26 faithful years of service my garage door was giving out. The two-car, single door had…read moredeveloped a couple of vertical cracks in the center, so it started sagging and binding at the top during opening and closing. I had 3 garage door companies provide options to repair and to replace. As the opener itself was still doing the job I had each price replacing the opener as an option. I had references from people I know and trust for each of them and was confident that they would all provide quality service at a fair price. They all responded quickly; all diagnosed the problem easily; and all provided estimates that included a detailed listing of components. GGD was the last I called. I almost didn't bother since I already had two, but I'm glad I did. It was late Friday afternoon and I anticipated hearing an automated message telling me to call back during business hours (meaning Monday). But to my surprise, Tony Z answered the phone and agreed to come out in 30 minutes but arrived in 20. I loved his energy and in very short order he had a competitive estimate put together and a commitment to get the job done about 4 days later so we shook hands. One of the things that drives me nuts with things like this is when they give you a 4 hour (sometimes worse) window when they will be there. So your entire day is shot sitting in that four hour window waiting for them to arrive. Then, about 30 minutes before the end of the window HQ gives you a call and says, "the technician is running a little late - won't be there for 2 more hours, would you like to still do it today or reschedule". NOT WITH TONY Z and GGD. They told me they'd be here at noon and it would take about 3 hours. at 11:30 the phone rang ... I got a knot in my stomach expecting to hear they're running late ... and they told me they'd be here in 30 minutes. Again, 20 minutes later they knocked on the door - two trucks in the driveway. Tony Z called me to confirm that they arrived and promised to stop by later. The guys got right to work. In no time at all they had the old door and all of the hardware - springs, tracks, rollers, opener, rail, etc. removed and started building the new. As they began programming the opener Tony Z showed up to make sure I was happy with everything so far. Well within the estimated timeline there was another knock on the door to tell me they were done and walk me through the new door and opener. They left the garage cleaner than it was when they arrived and the new door was beautiful. The next day I was struggling with programming the garage button (homelink) on a 2012 car we have. I gave Tony Z a call and he answered right away. After describing what was happening he gave me the customer service number for homelink and apologized for not being able to come over as he was attending a friend's memorial service at the moment ... the guy answered a customer call at a friend's memorial service - how do you beat THAT customer service attitude?!! Homelink customer service successfully walked me through the unique challenge the older car presented and we've been operating the new garage for more than a week now. It looks beautiful and I can't hear a thing from inside the house when it opens and closes (note: this might be a negative if you have teenagers since they can stealthily slip in and out of the house!). So if you're in need of garage work, give the Rockville Gaithersburg Garage Door Company a call and ask for Tony Z!

Their technician replaced this spring with the same type (250 lb. x 32 spring), but he indicated that given the weight of the wooden door, a heavier spring should have been installed back in 2022. (A 262 x 40 lb. "High Cycle"). I have written Door Doctor multiple times including certified return receipt to have the proper spring installed, but they have yet to contact me and resolve the issue. I'm really disappointed with my experience with Door Doctor. The initial appointment and quote…read moreprocess started off well, and I was genuinely interested in moving forward with them for a new insulated garage door install. After requesting an updated estimate( since the one they sent me had the wrong color) and asking for the door color to be changed to white, I was told I would receive corrected pricing and additional information/photos. After hearing nothing back, I personally followed up by phone and was told Alex would contact me later that same day. Unfortunately, I never received a call or email. At that point, I even reached out directly to Norris, the technician who originally came out to measure my door, because I still had his number from when he called before the appointment. I explained that I was disappointed with the lack of communication, and he responded saying he would have Alex call me. Once again, no one ever followed up. For a project that costs thousands of dollars, communication and follow-through matter. I understand companies get busy, but repeatedly promising callbacks that never happen is frustrating and discouraging as a customer who was ready to move forward. At this point, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.
