Moving is a drag, no matter how prepared you are, and with Covid still straining everyone, I was absolutely blown away by the level of professionalism and courtesy that I was given by House N Box movers. They booked me on a Sunday when I didn't start looking until Friday which was great. Also, I can't write a review without mentioning KEVIN. Not only did he handle everything with care like it was his own, but he was super friendly, extremely aware of what was important to us and did not stop working at any point during the move. The gentleman that helped me was so nice that I actually went with them even though their quote was a little higher. Unfortunately they came with a truck too small for our items, and a couple of the guys they sent seemed very very new and not reliable. I also had an item damaged and I just realized a nice furniture piece didn't even make it here! They never reimbursed me for the damage, just said the check is in the mail. I didn't have the best experience with this company. I was quoted for a pack and move, and the moving team was entirely unaware of the move. The owner dropped off supplies to address this, but the team didn't pack nor move all of my items. They left a substantial amount of things in my old place, for which I ended up having to extend my lease another week to take care of myself. The team did a alright job moving the items that they did move, except for staining my mattress, sofa, and cushions (seems they didn't use covers) - I say alright because nothing was damaged. Two of the three movers were a bit unprofessional (asking and making comments about the length of hallways and difficulty of move). Overall, i will end up spending twice as much in money and much morethan if I had chosen a company that charged a little more to get the pack and move done correctly. Update: The owner reached out and provided a partial refund to compensate for the service. Based on the other reviews, I caught a team on an off day and I can tell the ownership takes pride in making sure their customers are satisfied with the service. read more

I used House N Box for my move 10 days ago. They are the second moving company I have ever used. I did not re-hire the first moving company (JACKson of all trades), because they did not move from Austin to Round Rock. First of all, House N Box movers were courteous and polite. But that wasn't the problem. The first moving company moved all of my things, that I staged, from a THIRD FLOOR APARTMENT, with three movers, into their truck, in about 1.5 hours. It took House N Box OVER THREE HOURS to move the exact same amount of things that I broke down and staged even better than the first time, with three movers, from a ONE STORY HOUSE into their truck. OVER THREE HOURS. What? During loading, one of the movers sat on the end of the truck checking his phone most of the time. He came into the house maybe twice. The second mover came into the house maybe four times. The third mover felt like our only mover because he was the one who wrapped up 90% of our furniture inside the house. House N Box movers took 10 minutes a pop deliberating where to put things in the truck. The previous movers didn't have that problem, they just put things on the truck and got it done. Put it on the truck and move on. Not House N Box. I could have moved my things from my house to the truck in 3 hours BY MYSELF. I wanted to go out there and start directing traffic, but I didn't because that's what I hired THEM to do. In hindsight, since they were barely doing their job, I probably should have directed traffic. But if I wanted to direct traffic, I would have called my friends to help me move, instead of a moving company. Now we get to the unload. The previous moving company unloaded the truck from the driveway into my garage in about 30 minutes. Literally 30 minutes, because my stuff is only going from the truck in the driveway to the garage. It took House N Box MORE THAN AN HOUR to unload the same amount of stuff from the truck to the garage. 3 items went into the house. ALL the rest went into the garage. How does it take twice as long to move the same amount of stuff 10 feet from the back of a truck into the garage? Pick it up, take 20 steps, and put it down! They sat there BSing again as well. Again I felt like I needed to go out and direct traffic. It appears these guys have never moved for themselves, let alone anyone else. The previous moving company started LOADING at 8am from a third story apartment and was done UNLOADING AT THE NEW PLACE by about 11am. Same amount of stuff. About 10 minutes shorter drive time. House N Box was supposed to start at 830, but they didn't get there until after 9am. Then by about 1230, over three hours later, they were done LOADING. Then they took a lunch break. Finally they finished UNLOADING at around 245pm. Same amount of stuff. About 10 minutes more drive time. (Not that drive time mattered, because they took a lunch break. They should have already been done and not needed a lunch break.) In conclusion, I recommend you don't go with House N Box, because they seem to be milking the clock, which means milking your wallet. If you're in a similar situation to me, you're going to pay for 3 more hours than it actually takes to move your things. Oh, you know those little pins that go into your desks and bookcases to hold up the shelves? These guys lost HALF of those during the move. They found ONE in the back of the truck. But when I was setting up the rest of my furniture, I discovered that every single piece of furniture that used pins was missing several pins. I don't have a single working shelf now. My expensive door and door frame were damaged by my movers, they said the company would pay for the damages, everything was notated, its now been almost 2 months and they still have not fixed anything. Also while installing my washing machine, one of the movers knocked out the punch out for the washing machine drain into the pipe causing the pipe to clog and water overflowed ALL over my floor, I called them to see if they would do the right thing by paying for a plumber to fix what they did, I was told that was not covered, so I had to hire someone myself. They had to run a camera deep into the pipes to push the piece out which cost me $405. Not happy read more

I am so happy we found "House N Box" movers. I filled out the "request-a-quote" earlier this week and they were very responsive and professional from the start. We needed a large and very heavy, solid oak bar moved from our living room, up to a garage apartment. The bar has been in the living room for three years because we could not find anyone willing to move it. I was told by other companies, the railings would have to come off, we would need a crane or that it couldn't be done. Kevin, Ray & Jacob showed up today (they did call ahead when they were on their way, which was appreciated) and made such easy work of it. They made it look so easy. They were polite and professional. They were fast but took great care of the bar and the wood floors, even when I said it was "fine-just push it", they didn't just in case; they didn't want to scratch the floor. They were careful while in our home; they had to take two doors off the hinges and the bar top off but put everything back in place for us. I thought they were reasonably priced and there was no hesitation that they could get this item moved. Other companies had quoted us a lot more for a "maybe" and with a two hour minimum or passed all together because it was just one large item. I am so happy I happen to come across them online. First off, I've never hired movers before and always made moves myself with some family, so I was a little nervous going into this. But this experience has made me extremely open to hiring movers again! These guys were very friendly and an incredible team of efficiency. They moved me out of my 2nd floor apt into a 3rd floor 25 minutes away in just under 4 hours with a team of 3. Throughout the move, I felt calm and without any worry. I can attribute that feeling due to how communicative they were and how I saw them handle my belongings. The morning of, they were running about 30 minutes behind but it was totally fine to me since they communicated that and kept me updated on how far away they were. They showed up when they said they would over the phone, masked up and ready to go. They handled several heavy furniture items with care and efficiency; I had a VERY heavy couch that they needed to phone some help for but they got it up to the third floor without damage! It was honestly what I had the most worry about. They're a very efficient team. There was no laziness; as soon as they brought a stack of boxes up, they immediately went back down for the next stack. Great, hard workers! They did several sweeps to make sure they got everything out of the old place and had things where I wanted them in the new place. They wanted to make sure I was completely satisfied with the move before they left. None of my items were damaged and I felt like I could really trust them to treat my items with care. They had all the equipment needed to protect and transport boxes and furniture. They were very transparent about everything and there were overall no surprises. Due to some last minute decision making at my apartment community, I ended up stuck having to move on New Year's Eve. The days leading up to NYE, I was emailing, texting and calling every moving company I knew including a company that my friend owns. The ONLY ( and I do mean ONLY) moving company that got back to me fast was House and Box. I was panicking but once I was in communication with the company, I was quickly given a rate and a set of times. House and Box was able to take care of me late on New Year's Eve and it was 39 degrees outside as well. I am a single person who doesn't have local family or friends to help me with large labor tasks such as moving. This means that quality hired help is more critical than ever. House and Box is definitely not the cheapest moving company in the Austin area but you do get what you pay for. God willing, I won't be moving again anytime soon, but if I do, I won't flounder around online looking at moving ads, I will go directly to House and Box and call it a day! read more

While we did have issues with our move, since then, the owners have worked with me to come to a resolution that worked for both of us. I do wish they offered optional insurance that would cover the full cost of any damage that may happen from the move as they only offer the standard DMV insurance which is $0.60 per pound. If you have high-value items that you're worried about getting damaged, maybe look elsewhere but for normal, simple moves, these guys are great. It's a family-owned local business and they really tried to make it right, which I appreciated. read more

They showed up over an hour after the window they gave us which meant we spent the entire day waiting and lost a day of work. That was extremely frustrating and stressful. However, I blame that on poor dispatch probably trying to pack, excuse the pun, as many moves into a day as possible and stretch their workers thin. I would of expected some kind of a discount for being so late, but didn't even get an acknowledgement that they messed up. We were quoted $115 an hour for the whole package, when other movers had been a lot higher and wanted to add extra fees for essential moving equipment. They charged us $125 an hour, no explanation as to why it was more than quoted. The guys that showed up were great, they were friendly and hardworking, and overall did an excellent job considering the poor management they must have to deal with on a daily basis.
