It was a good price - about $34 for a whole chicken, sides including rice beans and pico de gallo. There are reviews on Google that says sometimes people are charged extra for pico de gallo but I was not. They do give you compostable plates if you ask, plastic forks and spoons available. All the food is provided in a plastic container in a plastic bag. They do charge a 3% credit card fee. It was juicy although some chicken pieces a little small. I supplemented it with other vegetables and guacamole. It could feed 3 people comfortably in my opinion with just the food itself. I give them grace as they only seemed to have 3 workers staffed but when I asked for an update for my order, the cashier/cook informed me that they initially got my order "wrong" and never started it to begin with. My wife and I are Cali kids who grew up in the 90's with El Pollo Loco. Way back then, the chain was smaller. They actually flame-grilled their chicken. Needless to say, they've been declining in quality since around '15/'16. We tried all the locations in our area. There are about 5, and none of them satisfy like they did when we were kids. Enter Pollos Al Carbon. El Pollo Loco actually capitalized on what was already present in the LA food scene. They were just the most successful to make it a chain. The staff only speaks Spanish. Our order took a good while before it was ready. But we're pretty sure if we got the wrong order last night, we would have still been happy with our dinner. That's what this place inspires in us. If you're looking for a grilled chicken spot that identifies with Central and South American flavors, please look no further. We found our El Pollo Loco. That's what I'm trying to say.
