Knowledgeable and Trustworthy!…read more I have a 15+ year old refrigerator that neither the refrigerator or freezer were working. Akai inspected the entire unit and indicated the issue was the defroster in the freezer wasn't working and needed to be replaced. He quoted me what I thought was a very fair price but before I could say "Shut up and take my money!" he added that when he had unplugged the unit & plugged it back in, when starting up again the compressor sounded a bit suspicious. Thus he indicated I could go ahead and pay him to install a new defroster in the freezer, but it is only a matter of time before the compressor craps out and then replacing it would be over $1,000 and not worth it. So get this....he proposes that I defrost it the old school way by unplugging it, opening both the freezer & fridge doors, placing towels in front of the unit, and allowing all of the ice to melt and then just mop up all the water with towels and my wet vac and that would solve the problem for now. And in a few months when the issue occurs again I can just repeat the old school defrosting method until the compressor finally goes kaput, and then get a brand new refrigerator. Sure enough, I proceeded to do exactly what he recommended and lo and behold the fridge & freezer started working properly again. And I am all too happy to repeat every few months to squeeze every last bit of life from this old fridge until I have to get a new one. Akai could have very easily kept quiet about the compressor sounding sketchy and that it could fail in 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years and gotten a nice service order for replacing the defroster since he had already devoted the valuable time & effort to come to my house. However, he instead chose to be completely honest and forthcoming which is not as common as it should be and is very appreciated. I have saved his contact info and the next time I have any issues with any appliances he will be the technician I call. Knowledge and experience is great and there are a lot of qualified & knowledgeable appliance repair companies out there. However, also possessing honesty and integrity is why I strongly recommend Akai for any appliance repair issues.

This is a zero star repair company. A simple job dragged out for weeks and turned out to be the…read moremost incompetent service experience I had for being several years with AHS. 4 service requests trip to fix a refrigerator which is still not working. Compressor was diagnosed to be issue in first visit with a less than 2 minute diagnosis, cut off the original part and then the on site tech realized that he doesn't have parts handy ( was told he have one in truck initially). Parts then ordered and then replaced next week.. Told it wold work in 24 hours but it didnt. since then, im keep calling AHS, they keep sending them out and its keep getting refilled with freon but it just doesn't work. Apparently the workmanship is so poor that the connection didn't get sealed and it leaks right away. Today, It got filled now 3rd time and been told (again) that it should work but it still not cooling. I have zero confidence of refrigerator working or their work ability to do the repairs. To top it off, this is halpening in sweltering TX heat and we are buying icebags daily to get things going. I have escalated it with AHS and will not accept any resolution of repair attempt anymore and definitely dont want them ever to be assigned to any of my future service request. Avoid if you can! AHS can change your vendor assignment if you make credible case! All these 0 start reviews are tangible proof of it.

Last Fall, I called Thermador Factory Service Los Angeles. We have a Rare Built-In microwave(2014)…read morethat has an automatic drawer that opens & closes. Due too spilling coffee the water dripped directly onto circuit board. The rep was very friendly and explained too me that the technician will diagnose issue by using a manual from his laptop. He will also have the parts with him to do everything in one appointment. She broke down costs were $160 hour + $70 parts. The Technician came out two days later and called an hour in advance to till me that he's on his way over. He had a welcoming smile, polite, friendly, clean and did a thorough diagnostic of the problem. Highly recommend them for any future repairs!!!

This service is frustrating and expensive. I requested…read morerepair of my range. Tech was sent out to diagnose. I paid $275. I was not given an estimate. More than a week passed and I called to follow up on parts, supposedly two parts, that were ordered and when repair could be scheduled. I was told my case had been mistakenly closed. A different tech came for second appointment and claimed he needed to diagnose issue for himself and order parts. $135 visit charge. Third appointment the range was repaired with replacement of display. $310 bill. I called between the 2nd and third visit to ask what to expect for this third visit as I'd already paid over $400. I also asked for refund of one of the first two visits. I received an email w third visit costs AFTER the third visit when the repair was completed. A few days later I was informed I was being denied any refund for the first or second appointments. They charge in 6 minute increments, $25 per. So beware. At least my range is working. Just at cost of over $700. Ugh.

We've heard…read moreof his "car break ins", "multiple emergencies", "new phones", "working late at previous jobs", "sudden illness", "being unexpectedly out of town"... This has happened several times. Even after telling us to unplug the machine the night before... and then nothing. No call, no show. I hesitated for months about writing this review because #1 I'm not trying to ruin anyone's business and #2 I didn't want to anger him and deter from continuing the service we already paid for. However at this point I don't feel that he is interested in our business either way. Kevin is a cool guy, personality wise. But business wise- Terrible. First encounter was March 2024 and the no ice / no cooling in either the freezer OR refrigerator issue is STILL not resolved as of now, September 2024. The last invoice paid was $350+ in May and supposedly came with a warranty but it does absolutely no good if he has zero contact. He has not answered or returned any calls or texts to either of the two telephone numbers since June. Again- cool dude- But if you want someone who will stand by their professional word and work... this one I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. (If by some miracle this gets resolved I will delete or edit this review. But for now, this has been our experience.)

We made a mistake in 2019 of buying an LG refrigerator at Best Buy. I have since found out it was…read morenot a good buy and I've been told more than once don't buy an LG refrigerator again and I won't. Our icemaker stopped working on multiple occasions, and this was the latest of those occasions. I tried to do some troubleshooting and it has worked a couple times but this last time nothing and that it was producing no ice whatsoever so I go online and try to find a couple places. The previous Yelp find, the guy came out and basically looked at it and said everything was fine. He did show me how to run diagnostic on it. I didn't know I could do that. It was a Bluetooth Device That is on the fridge that I was not aware of. But when I ran the test, it came back as everything on the fridge is working fine, but clearly it was not as it was not producing any ice. After another couple weeks of just buying bags of ice and manually putting them in the icemaker, so I can at least use my door ice machine I decided to call someone else and I called Kevin. He came out and took a look at it move the arm back-and-forth so I'll get you a quote and he called me back the next day and quoted me around $400. That that sounded not too bad of a price considering it was mostly the price of the parts however $400 on a $1500 refrigerator. that we are not gonna keep a long time didn't sound like the right investment to make so we did not go forward with the repairs. However, when Kevin was here and he was moving back the arm back-and-forth, all I can say is he has what I would call the repair man's Midas touch. That moving the arm back-and-forth doing a very basic diagnosis and tell them you don't buy LG fridge again, and now my icemaker is producing ice as it should be, also it should be noted Kevin did not charge me any fee. When I did a Yelp search it did say $60 diagnosis fee but I could not get a hold of him again to pay him the $60, so Kevin if you're out there and you see this holler back at me. I would absolutely call Kevin again, he had a quick response, and there was absolutely zero pressure to do anything that we did not want to do. He told me he works in the Houston area so if you're close to Houston. you should consider giving him a call for your repair needs.
