This is my favorite meat store . I come here all the time and the service is always amazing . But on 2/3/25 at 9am whichever lady was working behind the meat packing counter was rude and was doing everything in her power to not service me. She kept trying to make me buy individual meat instead giving me the package I was asking for . After telling her several times the package that I always get. She needs to do better , felt like she was maybe racist . I didn't even ask her for help , I knew what I wanted already. read more

I'm a BIG fan of great customer service and when it comes to "old school" southern hospitality Mr. Houston hits a grand slam! I was in the neighborhood and hankering for some steak to throw on the grill. I've heard good things about this store and figured what the hell, let's see! I was welcomed to a packed parking lot and a full store. The store reminds me a bit of my childhood. Going to the butcher shop and seeing all the different selections available. Asking 27 questions and getting a good earful about what was best and how to cook it! Much like then, it was all about community service and great hospitality. Knowing your regulars and offering great prices for quality cuts. Mr. Houston is so good at his craft he can tell you how many T-Bone steaks you'll get out of a slab of meat. With todays economy I'm proud to support a business like this and for my two cents this place is a hidden gem of a shop. I was able to pick up 16 T-bone steaks for the cost of $97.22 which is far less than you'll pay at any supermarket or fine restaurant. If you are in the neighborhood and you're looking to fire up your grill do yourself a favor and give this shop your business. They have EVERYTHING!! Nice little store and great friendly people. I wish they were better informed of what they have in stock. We have tried calling several times they either do not answer the phone or if they do, they can't seem to answer simple questions like do you sell Beef Cheeks. The answer ... "we sell beef". Yes, thank you - I do know this but do you sell the cheek of the beef. She had no idea what I was asking and hung up on me. :) Also, the 45 steaks for 75.00 is not a good deal the steaks are so thin for the price. I think if you have small kids it might be worth it. We have not tried any other of the package deals. It is better to just buy the steaks outright much better deal. But there are a lot of other deals to come in for. We really enjoy their pork roasts, chicken deals, and salami. read more

This review reflects the Store on US1. I spent $300 on a freezer special and other selected cuts if meat. My decision to make this purchase was based on previous visits. I would request a specific cut if meat and was very please with my purchase. I loaded up the freezer with my purchase feeling good. Disappointment was revealed once I thawed out and inspected my New York Strip steaks. These things looked awful. There appeared to be no difference in the New York strip when compared to the charcoal steaks. Thin cut low quality cuts of meat. I will have to think twice about further purchases made here. I have to question the value for the money spent. read more

*Please read* This place is gross and do not ever buy the freezer special. The steaks were the size of lunch meat, the bacon was nothing but fat and an inch thick, the hamburger did not look eatable. Fly's all over the food when i went in, so i thought I'd get the special. I now trust gas station sushi over this place. Unless you are buying an oyster shucker or cold drink, please never enter this place. If you do not believe me, try it out. Get that freezer special if you would like your day and hunger completely ruined. read more

Houston's is the best meat market/ butcher shop I have been too. Houston himself or one of his butchers will cut anything you want, just like you want it. I have picked up a couple steaks for my wife and I and I have also fed our entire factory T-bones. Houston's Magic Marinade is my favorite over any other marinade. I really enjoy coming to Houston's. It is locally owned and operated and, I believe has been here for quite some time. Houston is often found behind the butchers station working and spreading some meat knowledge. The prices here are unbeatable. They always have package deals, but the deals are unrealistic unless you have a lot of people to feed or a deep freezer. We just finished dinner, including some ribeyes (4.95 each), a couple russet potatoes (4 for $1), some jalapeños (5 for $1) and an onion (about $0.60)! I'm telling you, you can get a lot of great stuff for your money. They also have things that you can't find everywhere anything from oxtails to pig ears. There are some frozen options as well, 10lb box of tilapia filets for about $20. You can also find seasoned meats that are just ready to fry or grill. Take a look at the middle of the shop and they sell packets of seasoning. I use their pork sausage seasoning on ground turkey for a leaner option and their dry Brown sugar BBQ rub is AMAZING on everything! Check this place out! Shop local! read more

I have been here many times and their meats are pretty good. I like their oysters usually there are pretty big with not many dead ones. Sometimes there cleaner then other times but there oysters. I like to also get their chicken wings specially if I have a coupon from the Northsider. They have some mutie birds with huge wings. Now for the beef it is a the good side not the best that I have ever got but good an tasty. The first time I was into Houston's I wanted a ribeye steak. I asked the guy behind the counter I would like that one (a whole ribeye) about 1 1/2" thick. He asked do you know how much that is??? I said yes an I want it this thick please. I guess I shocked him but I just wanted to see how their meat was. If you are looking for a slab of pork belly for your homemade bacons they don't have that either. Oh Yea if you want some fat off cuts (for homemade sausage) don't go here they wanted 2 buck a pound for something that they would normally throw away. read more
