Afterwards, they spent quite a bit of time going over results, and dialing in the prescription for glasses to be just perfect. Thinking I knew where Heather Ridge was, I drove down Crown Valley past Cabot Rd. (Costco) and continued. Eventually I came to realize that I was lost and late for my appointment. I arrived 15 minutes late. The receptionist informed me, others are ahead but If I don't mind waiting we'll squeeze you in. Rather than reschedule, I was glad to wait. I've heard nothing but good things from family members about Howard Optometry. Observing the professionalism of the staff in servicing and directing the clients through the maze of state of the art equipment, not one complaint but rather thank you. As the doctor emerged from their office to welcome the next client, I heard the doctor remarking to the exiting patient, "Have a good day!" Seeing chart in hand, the doctor welcomes the next client; "come on in, and how are you doing today?" I am thinking, "I like this place, feel human and important." I was seen by Dr. Michael Kim, who reviewed and commented on my results. Fortunate for me, my eyes have not changed. We discussed in depth the color pictures of both eyes. This is my first visit to Howard Optometry. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Howard and from scheduling the appointment to visit in the glasses area for new lenses, my experience was excellent. I scheduled this appointment for a second opinion for my glasses and recent prescription I got with another provider. I have issues, where my eyes have a very hard time adjusting to new prescription and even new frames. So I saw Dr. Howard to do another analysis of my prescription, to see if possible to make adjustments to clarify the issues I have. She did an evaluation, made some changes and we are giving it a try. I do hope these adjustments made by Dr. Howard will make things all good for me. But regardless of the outcome; her service, welcoming approach and easy to talk to attitude is so greatly appreciated. And the assistance of her staff was wonderful, friendly & courteous. Howard Optometry took over the space in the Laguna Niguel Costco about a year ago. I have always gone to the Costco resident as its the easiest and most convenient (and I don't have major issues/problems). I think its been about 15+ years and about 4-5 different doctors. This is the first time EVER that going to the Costco Optometrist felt like a cattle call- It was awful. It was overly busy, not warm/welcoming/helpful staff, and the doctor I saw, Jennifer I believe, couldn't get me out the door quick enough. Really disappointed. The worst part is that they have hardly any regard for Covid or social distancing protocols except for when they have you take you contacts out, do some tests, and then make you wait in the optical area (outside the office) for 15 minutes- BLIND! Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but i doubt it. With three "assistants" working in the front area, they clearly had a goal of "quantity". I will be trying to find the old people who rented the space and go see them next time. read more

Walked into Costco to see if they had any available appointments for my mom and I. They had one but since there were 2 of us they fit us in between other patients and the doctors lunches! The whole team and staff were so welcoming of me, my mom and, my 2 year old daughter. They brought out coloring books and crayons so she would have something to do during the exams. I really appreciate the professionalism performed by the staff and not to mention they were also very through. Found out I have 2 astigmatisms and my eyes that were over compensating for the others. I have to rant and rave for Imelda the pretest nurse and Dr. Emmy Thai! 5/5 stars! People that need a quick check and through check don't hesitate to come here! read more

After calling and leaving 4 messages without any calls back, I ended up coming here to make my appointment in person. This was in January. Came in for my annual check up. They didn't seem to have my file because my eye doctor had moved away from this Costco location and had taken patient files with him. After I filled out the paper work, I waited another 15 minutes to be seen. The doctor seemed friendly. But while he was trying to get my contacts strength figured out, he asked me to keep trying different samples on because my exact prescription is not in stock. I ended up wearing one of his samples home which didn't work out at all. It took a little over a week for Costco Optical to receive my order. I gave it a try and still something was off. I called to come in because I was having double vision with the new contacts. They asked me to come in. When I came in, the doctor simply changed the prescription without any examination. When I got the new contacts, I called a week after that again to inform that I'm still having issues. I got a call back 2 weeks later (when I was out of town for work). I called back after I came back, again no return calls. I ended up stopping by when I was at Costco, the receptionist told me that the doctor was out. She would have to talk to him before making any follow up appointments with me. 3 weeks later, since I hadn't heard anything, I called again and was put on hold for over 30 minutes (till I hung up). A week after that, I stopped by again. The receptionist informed me that the doctor will have to check me all over again for a new prescription. She said that it's been too long between my initial check up and now and that I'd have to pay for a new prescription. This is terrible customer service! The timeline was manipulated by them so I can have another check up and waste more money for poor service and diagnosis. I will never come here again. I rather pay double to someone that actually knows what they're doing and have better customer service. read more
