Long time local cafe in Rattan. Just good all around "eats". Nothing to rave home about but you will not go away hungry.

The Ram's Pen - $19 cauliflower pizza the size of my hand

Which was a cauliflower pizza, that is typically the only thing small places have, so I'm used to it. But I was in shock when she told me the total. $81.80 for a little road side diner, that the worker had a vape right beside the register. I ask for my receipt so I can check it out, $19 for my cauliflower pizza. So I figured it was going to be a good sized one. When it comes out, I'm surprised by how small it was. And I honestly think it was just a grocery store pizza with toppings they threw on. Everything else was good, the family said. I also think everything else was priced fairly. But if you are going to charge "big city prices" for a pizza, I'm expecting more. I do recommend if you don't have dietary restrictions, get you a big greasy burger, but don't come here if you are looking for anything special.

Pizza, Burgers, salad bar, buffets, and even home cooked meals in the crockpot on some nights. A wide variety menu for all meals. Breakfast is always outstanding as well! My dad loves getting pancakes (the size of a dinner plate) when we visit for breakfast. I had a breakfast burrito with sausage and everything but the kitchen sink, and it was scrumptious. I would assume family owned due to the same older lady coming out of the kitchen every time we visit to ask us how we are enjoying our meal. The environment is really cool with some sports memorabilia for decoration.

The staff was nice and sang well (as they sang with the videos on the screen). Oh, by the way, don't forget to visit the gift shop on the 3rd floor. We almost missed it as there was no obvious signage directing us there. BUT, we found it and are a few dollars poorer as my wife loves her new, "Fancy" T-shirt! She found the 3rd floor!!!

When we were first seated, the table wasn't clean. When my sister politely mentioned it, the waitress seemed more defensive than apologetic and moved us to an even more uncomfortable table. Service overall was very slow, especially considering they were not busy. It took a long time just to get drinks, my tea was never offered a refill, and my mom was brought the completely wrong meal -- she ordered a chicken sandwich and received a hamburger instead. The food itself was honestly pretty disappointing for the cost. Ralph and I both ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was around $27 each, and it came out cold. The green beans were cold too and honestly not good at all. Overall, the food felt very average and definitely not worth the price point. The one highlight was the famous quail poppers -- those were actually really good and probably the best thing we had all night. Sadly, after all four of us talked about it afterward, we agreed the experience was maybe a 3 out of 5 at best, and that's being generous. We really wanted to love it, but it just fell short in both service and food quality.
