Okay! why does free lunch hit different every single time?!…read moreI attended a professional development training and they surprised us with these lunch boxes! Yay! Tell me why I was immediately in love. The moment I opened it, I was greeted with a thick, generously stacked turkey sandwich that looked like it meant business. We're talking layers on layers of tender, juicy turkey, piled high with that crisp, freshly shredded lettuce that gives the perfect crunch in every bite. Even writing about it makes my mouth water all over again! The bread? Soft, fresh, and just the right amount of pillowy to hold it all together without falling apart. As if the sandwich wasn't already the star of the show, the box came fully loaded with a chocolate chip cookie,, a bag of chips for that salty crunch moment, and a little sampler of macaroni salad that was slathered in Italian dressing. So tasty! Honestly? Mouthwatering from start to finish. Whoever put these boxes together understood the assignment! (Haha) This is definitely a must try when hungry!

Since finding out about this location, we have visited this place a few times now. I really love the old school feel to this sandwich spot. You can either dine in or order your sandwich to go. Caesar's is hit and miss for me. Once in a great while it's one of the best sandwiches I've had and sometimes it's just okay. One thing I do know for sure is that I keep coming back because they have "that" clam chowder. My only complaint is that they are pricey and you can get a superior sandwich from other places. Parking is a little bit crazy during lunch time. Staff is always super nice here and the lines go pretty quick. I don't know if they have more than the 2 locations I know of. This location is not as fancy as the one on Brimhall, but their sandwiches are just as good.

Caesar's has been a favorite of mine since high school, so we're two decades strong now…read more I like their simple and consistent sandwiches, my favorite is the Turkey, just had lettuce, mayo and peppers. I also love their giant sandwiches for parties! They have family take and bake meals, the garlic chicken is so good! Recommend adding it to your easy week day meal rotation! Comes with bread, a side and salad. They also have my favorite clam chowder, maybe favorite even over Splash I recommend online ordering so you don't have to wait, their service is quick but they can get busy! The shop is small but I here's plenty of room to eat there if you desire. Also! They have that good crushed ice!

Speaking of obsessions, Caesar's in general remains one for me and my whole family. My family loves when the group text says,"I'm getting Caesar's on the way home. Send your orders in now". A sure fire way of being the family favorite for the night. The folks serving the delicious food are still nice as can be. The prices are still astonishingly affordable. I almost always grab my sandwich and lasagna to go, but the interior is so cute I hope to make time to sit and enjoy my meal there in the near future.

I know, to many locals this is probably unimaginable for someone who has called Bakersfield home for almost 20 years, and let me say.. I get it. I now understand the hype. From the delicious food to the way they make you feel like family with their impeccable yet personable service, it is no surprise this over 115 year old local family business has won over the hearts and minds of Bakersfield and those who visit. Our warm welcome: We didn't check the hours beforehand, and showed up at 2:30, which is their closing time, like complete chumps. Never the less, every person in both the deli and restaurant insisted for us to come in and eat. The owner, Gino, was one of the many friendly faces who greeted us and ensured us it was no problem. This was very kind. I don't like showing up within the last hour before a restaurant closes, let alone the literal time they close. The kindness and welcoming approach in which everyone insisted we stayed, made me know they truly wanted us to have the chance to enjoy an amazing lunch with them, and amazing would be an understatement. The service was down right impressive. Our server, Chris, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Arguably the best service in town. Now let's get to the delicious food: Everything we ordered was top notch, but the truffle sachetti "pasta purse" completely stole the show. They are now a forever must as a shared appetizer or main dish. Though I do very much look forward to jumping around the menu and coming in during their daily and seasonal/popup specials I've seen on their social media. The phenomenal ambiance: The atmosphere is something out of a Billy Joel song, a compliment I am sure I am not the first to give. The inside is decked out wall to wall with old family photos and Bakersfield memorabilia. As it was a nice day, we sat outside in their beautiful shaded area with a very nice outdoor bar I wouldn't mind coming back to pay a proper visit. Needless to say, while this was my first visit, it won't be my last. I look forward to the taste of the truffle sachetti and the warm, welcoming atmosphere Luigi's provides.

Luigi's is crowded. Parking kinda sucks. The neighborhood ain't great. The food is awesome…read more Luigi's is a family-owned Bako institution. Service here is quick and attentive. Why? The lunch rush is pretty much their hours of business, start to finish. Although there's lots of seating, both interior and a party-atmosphered patio, the wait can be lengthy. Speaking of "lengthy", expect to spend a couple of hours here, including the wait for a table, eating your meal, and spending time in their shop. The food is hearty and delicious. A small antipasto plate shows up at your table shortly after you sit. There are so many delicious-sounding things on their menu it's hard to choose what to order (I had one of the best tasting steaks I ever had here) There are items I've only seen here, like the Sacco beans (which are absolve in their shop) What I can figure out is that they offer a marriage of old school Italian-American with local influences and personal family touches. Luigi's is a strictly a daytime affair. There is no dinner service. The area -- Old Town Kern -- is sketchy, even in the daytime. That said, a trip to Bakersfield practically demands a visit to Luigi's. IYKYK

She even gave us several samples of ice cream, which were delicious. Amaya was very nice and took the time to stop and have conversations with us. Genuinely a nice person! Service was 5 stars. The food was good. The tri tip and chicken fried steak were full of flavor and seasoned well. The only negative we would say about the food is the tri tip was a little on the dry side, and the chicken fried steak was mostly batter. Both still tasted good, though. Just wished the tri tip was juicier and chicken fried steak was proportioned better with meat vs batter. Sides were really good (descriptions in the pics). Food was 4 stars. Atmosphere is very old school feel. They even had the Price Is Right from probably the 70's or 80's playing on the tv. Brought back funny memories. Overall, recommend. Very good local restaurant.
