I purchased a washer and dyer from Howards in Irvine. Howard's delivery service Delcorp were instructed to use my service entrance. The Delivery crew used my main home entrance. The service crew had shoes covered with oil and grease which was deeply embedded and covered on my main entry staircase carpet. The deliver crew severely damaged all hand rails while removing the old washer and dryer. The crew also smashed my walls into the plaster and scrapped the paint over a span of 40'. Howard's has refused to return phone calls and has not provided any reimbursement to cover the $750.00 cost of repairing my home. Contacts at Howard's were Suzanne, manager, Yvonne, Justin, John the store manager and Manny Director of Howard's corporate staffing. We visited Howard's on Tuesday evening looking to replace our washer/dryer. We had an amazing experience. Brian Grinnell was responsible for making our experience a positive and successful one. He helped us find exactly what we were looking for. He listened to what we wanted and then directed us to those products. He was friendly and professional. We had gone to another competitor first and that sales person was friendly but he was not listening to what our needs were. That person was more focused on selling us the most expensive set. Need customer service because you're elderly and want to go through a 3rd party to ensure what's promised gets delivered? AVOID HOWARDS AT ALL COSTS. My mother has been waiting for a working washer dryer since May 27. Good god. First they sent her a damaged unit, then sent her a faulty one. They're supposed to be working with Frigidaire to get this resolved but they're running her in circles and she's had to do her laundry at a laundry mat or through neighbors and they've offered her NO compensation for their mistakes. My husband and I decided to shop this weekend for appliances as we are having some work done on our kitchen. We'd researched a couple of models we were interested in and initially went to Lowes where the sales person there was helpful but not as knowledgeable as what we were about to experience. Lowes sales associate told us that although he would like our business; for what we may be looking for we were better going to Howards appliances which was close by. We are so thankful for that advice. Our product specialist was Brian Grinnell who was extremely knowledgeable, patient and professional at all times. We had called back the next day after purchasing a range and microwave as we thought the microwave could be too deep. Brian researched other models for depth comparison and contacted us back in a timely manner with other options. We went back two days later and purchased a dishwasher which we decided we really should have purchased and because of the excellent customer service and price point that was better than Lowes and Costco - we wanted to give our business to Brian. Be careful if buying appliances. Howard's told me that they use a 3rd party installer to install a dishwasher and microwave I purchased. What they didn't tell me is that after installation I was going to be charged an additional $230 for the install! At the time of sale, I was never told there would be an additional charge ... amounting, by the way, to a lot more than I would have had to pay if I arranged for an install myself. Although Howard's coordinates all the arrangements (and probably gets a kickback for doing so), they refused to make any concessions to make me a satisfied customer. The best they were willing to do is to give me a discount if I purchased more items from them. read more

On Monday, April 20, I decided to finally buy a washer and dryer. My house had been remodeled and I had just moved in on April 18. I had been researching different models and styles: top load, front load, LG, Electrolux, etc. There were issues, 1. the laundry room is very small; 2. the dryer is set up to be on the left of the washer (most front loading machines plan the dryer on the right; 3. There is a cabinet 59" from the floor (top loader opens to 58-59"). I had done my research for washers and dryers. I checked product reviews, pricing at numerous locations, various features and physical size. Most locations gave a 10 day or longer lead time for the washer to be delivered. With a tape measure in hand, I decided to give Howard's a try. Boy am I glad I did!!! John assisted me and he was informative and helpful. He was so patient with me as I measured height, width and depth of various makes and models of washers and dryers. I also asked lots of questions, which he was able to answer (I already knew the answers to some of the questions, but wanted confirmation). John pointed out various features of the Electrolux unit, including a recessed vent location to enable the dryer to be closer to the wall (remember, in this area, size does matter). The doors are also reversible to accommodate my dryer on the left. The price was very competitive. And, both washer and dryer were scheduled to be delivered... drumroll please... the next day!!! I went home to ensure all the dimensions of the Electrolux would fit comfortably. On Tuesday, April 21, I walked into the store and made my purchase. On Wednesday, April 22, the washer and dryer were delivered! What is wrong with this picture?? NOTHING!! I can now brag that all is functioning beautifully. The units fit in my little room, they offer all the features I can ask for (and more) and the doors open as they should. I purchased all my kitchen appliances at Pirch and regret every aspect of it (still have issues with them and there has been no communication since the appliances have been delivered/installed). I wish I had thought to check out Howard's, but Pirch was recommended. Thank you John for checking on my purchase the day after it was delivered. I have done many loads of laundry, already. I don't write reviews. Only writing this one because Brian told me it was the best way to let his employer know that I was very pleased with his services recently. So here goes. My old washer threw it's main bearing so I needed a new washer immediately. I researched most brands & product info online. Ran across Howard's online ad & called since they were nearby & open late. Brian Grinnell answered my call as well as my questions about the washers they carried. I had pretty much settled on the Speed Queen washer, but my wife was concerned about the smaller wash load capacity. It was obvious that Brian knew about all the washers they carried. Brian gave me all the pricing & delivery information & costs about the different washer while I was on the phone. Not once did he sound like he was in a hurry to get me off the line. And he never asked me to come in before giving me the all info I requested. You don't see that kind of service very often these days. When I went to the store later that night, it only took a couple minutes with Brian before I had all the paperwork for my new Speed Queen in my hand. Brian never tried to up-sell me or give me a "sales pitch". Everything Brian told me about the delivery of my washer occurred exactly as represented. We bought a dishwasher, microwave and gas range from Howards about one year ago. The sales process was easy and delivery went quickly. Unfortunately, the maytag dishwasher we received is a complete lemon. It continues to leak and the only way we can get it to run is propping a huge chair against the door. We've had the service team come out once a month since September (That's five visits now) without fixing it. They seem to come and try to tighten some screws while the very next time we try to run it, it's broken again. The last technician that came out actually said that it's just a piece of crap and suggested we buy the extended warranty. If the service visits of the past are any indication, what in the world would an extended warranty do??? More visits where they never fix the problem? Howards, you can do better than this. read more

On December 14 we purchased a kitchen aid dishwasher including delivery and installation. Installation was terrible, we had to stop the installers from leaving and them try to level the dishwasher which they did poorly. Not surprisingly the installation was wrong. They must have kinked the exhaust hose, because the dishwasher is sending all the exhaust water out the overflow hose and all over the kitchen counter. We called and were told that we had to call kitchenaid for a warranty repair, really? Of kitchenaide was in no hurry to fix the problem and scheduled the repair for January 14, one month after purchase. They scheduled this repair for sometime Friday the 14th,between 8am and 4 pm, so at 4:45 pm he called to let us know he was on his way. This is totally unacceptable. Do not buy from howards, never buy a kitchen aide. I have already sent a request to Howard's to pick this dishwasher up and return all of our money. I doubt I will even hear back from them. By the way the dishwasher itself may be great, apparently we will never know read more

During the Pandemic, my refrigerator of 25 years stopped working. Thankfully, a friend recommended I go to Howard's; I'm thankful I did! DON'T EXPECT FREE DELIVERY FROM HOWARD'S. This review applies only to the "Free Delivery" offer at Howard's Appliances. The offer seems to be a scam. My Howard's purchase was delivered 7/30. I mailed in the "free delivery" rebate form on 8/1. The form goes to "Arris Rebates" in Sacramento. Two weeks later, the Arris web site indicated that the rebate was "in process." (Two weeks for mail to go from Irvine to Sacramento?) It is now the end of October, and still no rebate check. The web site still reads "in process." I emailed Howard's on 10/8 and received no response. Three months (and still waiting) is excessive. Lowe's or Best Buy sends a rebate within a few weeks. read more

We went to Howards tonight to look for a set of kitchen appliances. Sales rep Jaime G. was on his cell phone, smoking right outside the doors, and he promptly followed us in. Started to get that "I'm-at-car-dealership" feeling. Anyway, he said to let him know if we needed anything. Okay, fine. After we walked around the showroom, we looked for Jaime, but he was busy with another customer. So we asked another sales rep if he could us. Don't know the other rep's name, other than he was Asian, sitting at a desk and playing on his cell phone. Jaime came running to us and said he'd help us. Okay, anyway ... Started to ask Jaime some questions. Before I could ask Jaime my second question, he said, "Hold on a second ..." and he took off to check something on the computer. Weird, and frankly quite rude. He came back a couple minutes later and I started asking the rest of my questions. Jaime really seemed pre-occupied the whole time - constantly looking over toward the other customer he was helping previously, stepping away from us after every question I asked, rocking his body back and forth like he had to go pee or something. When I told Jaime that he seemed pre-occupied and that we were just going to leave, he said that there are other customers, that there's only so many sales reps on the floor, and that they're closing in 15 minutes. Wow, nice. What about the Asian sales rep that was playing on his phone? How about just giving us your undivided attention for a couple minutes? Maybe offer an apology? Was really hoping for something better, especially since this place is close to us and we plan to buy a TV and washer/dryer in about a month. Guess it won't be here. read more

Howard's customer service is BEYOND TERRIBLE. We bought a fridge from Howard's, but during the delivery process, the delivery men bumped the fridge into our oven, causing the front glass panel of the oven to completely shatter. After the incident, I was given the delivery guy's cell phone number. I failed to hear from them, and would only receive the occasional cryptic text message when I would reach out for a status update. After numerous attempts to reach someone in charge, I finally managed to get a hold of a man named Frank at the delivery department. Of course, that call consisted of nothing more than a statement along the lines of, "We're looking into it. Please call me if you need anything." Days went by without any word from Howard's or Frank. I attempted to reach Frank several times thereafter, to no avail. A couple weeks passed before I finally got a phone call, and only after I complained about the lack of communication, did they tell me that they were unable to find a replacement glass. We began discussions about monetary compensation for the broken glass and for the fact that we have not been able to use our oven in the meantime. Finally, an unacceptable offer was made by Howard's, we gave a counteroffer, and Frank informed me that they would get back to me the next day. A week went by, and they never called me back, nor did they return any of the voicemails I have left since. It has been about a month since the incident, and we are still without a functioning oven and without the funds to buy a replacement (consider that we just dropped nearly $3k at Howard's within the past month for the fridge). Now, I realize people make mistakes, and the delivery guys arguably made a mistake during the delivery. But the manner in which Howard's has been handling this mistake has been appalling. Unreturned calls, lack of explanations, giving customers the runaround, and simply AVOIDING RESPONSIBILITY. Shady business. This is by far the worst customer service experience I have come across. If Howard's thinks I'm letting go of this issue because they're ignoring me, they're in for a rude awakening. If the only way to get this company to own up to its mistakes and rectify matters is to get the courts involved, then so be it. Shame on Howard's. Bottom line? If you purchase anything from Howard's, you better be sure there won't be any problems with your appliance or its delivery, because you'll left in a lurch. read more

In the middle of this pandemic with a critical shortages of supply and shipments, we were in search of a hard-to-find 24" stackable washer/dryer unit to fit a small laundry closet. We started with a competitor of Howard's, who literally showed no interest in handling our lower-end appliance needs, did not return calls, gave us incorrect information on power requirements and incorrect model sizes. We turned to Howard's in one location, but the sales associate we dealt with failed to return calls, emails or texts or answer all questions and literally dropped the ball. In frustration, I called Howard's in Irvine and, to my good fortune, connected with Lee Trueblood, Product Specialist, at 714-368-0165, leetrueblood@howards.com . He immediately answered ALL my questions knowledgeably and quickly, proceeded to handle the ordering of my unit that day, kept me periodically abreast of my delivery status through date of installation and was without fail courteous and professional. On the day of delivery and installation, Johnny and his assistant were extremely efficient, professional, very neat and respectful of our property and well trained in delivery and installation. UPDATE For my troubles Howard's refunded the installation fee for one of one of my installs. I would never buy anything from here again if it needed to be installed or I needed their expertise. My husband and I purchased a dishwasher, microwave and a Washer & Dryer. They were misinformed and incorrect on a lot of the details, and they didn't ask a lot of pertinent questions that ended up causing a lot of issues. Then when we were schedule to get the microwave installed it was damaged, delaying the delivery a few weeks. When we were scheduled to get the dishwasher installed they messed up on the installation date. So on Thursday I waited at home all day (they wouldn't give me a time frame so I didn't know if they might be here as early as 7am or as late as 7pm - so I was totally chained to my house). I called the store and they said there was a mistake (imagine that!) and it should have been scheduled for delivery Friday and installation Saturday. But since we weren't going to be home on Saturday (which we already explained) they were going to move the installation to Friday afternoon. BUT, they can't guarantee the delivery would happen before the installation. So here's to hoping the dishwasher gets delivered in the morning and installed in the afternoon. If not, we will probably cancel our order and go somewhere else! read more

This review is about Howard's repair service for a damaged washer. First off, if you are even thinking about buying the extended warranty in the store, don't do it. Apparently Howard's has sold off their warranty contracts, and your washer will be "repaired" by a sketchy third-party company that doesn't really seem to know what they're doing, unless you demand Howard's do the servicing (which you should, their technicians seem much more competent). Second, it's a repair-only warranty; good luck ever getting them to actually exchange the machine if you've got a lemon. Our washer has some sort of weird intermittent problem that is very difficult to diagnose (the machine just happily halts in mid-cycle with no errors or warnings), and they would rather constantly try replacement parts rather than just exchange the unit (which makes no economic sense to me, wouldn't it be cheaper to just exchange the unit out and figure out the problem at a warehouse rather than waste money on parts and on technician visits?) Really getting frustrated that we paid so much for an extended warranty, and yet we can't even get a working washer! read more

Went there yesterday to buy a dishwasher I was told I didn't get free delivery or set up they wanted $100. I was okay with that at first but then I realized it would be too hard to install i returned it. When I did they told me it would be covered for free installation I thought it was not appropriate to tell me after I return it that they would've given me free installation and probably delivery. If you are looking to be protected against the things that can go wrong when purchasing appliances buy here and buy at THIS location only! I had several issues with the oven/range I bought from Howards, but Paul, Sean, Sharad, and many others helped me get the replacement I wanted in a timely fashion, always picked up the phone and advocated on my behalf to make me as satisfied as they could. This could have happened at any other seller (Sears, etc) but I am SURE I would not have gotten the level of service and support I got at Howards. I am so glad I bought here versus somewhere else. The sales people at the store were helpful. We recently purchased a higher end Kitchenaide dishwasher. The person we found obnoxious was the installer. The installer tried to "sell" me a $50.00 new drain assembly. I said no. A few minutes later my husband walked in and the installer tried to " sell" him some part but this time at first said $50 then $40. We find this kind of tactic by the installer unprofessional and quite offensive. I suggest that Howard's get rid of any installer who try to pull this stunt. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Howard's in Irvine. We placed an order for a microwave that was not in stock. Our sales person was Anthony and he told us it would take about 10 days. Okay, there were no follow up calls with him at all. We had called 10 days later and he promised us that he would e mail whirlpool to find out status. We were once again promised a phone call and he never did. So, then we called 15 days after we originally came in we speak to the manager Mike and he tells us "sorry" the microwave order was never placed. What??? How can this happen? What did the sales guy do all of this time? How can you possibly sale a product to a customer promise them it will come in at a certain time and then come to find out the order was never placed.... I will never come into Howard's again. Terrible experience and all we got was a sorry and now stuck without a microwave. read more

Not a fan of this place at all. If you want good prices and nothing more then maybe this is the place for you. However, make sure you do your homework before buying here. I went in and found a new dishwasher that I liked. It said it was on sale so I asked the sales rep if delivery was free? He said there was a minimum purchase requirement otherwise I would have to pay for it. I asked if they installed it and he said no and that installation was extra. He also said that the price didn't include the installation kit. In the end the price was good so I decided to go with it and pay delivery. Then I get home and look online and right on the front page of their website it says FREE DELIVERY ON ALL ORDERS. I look at the dishwasher I just purchased and it was $30 less online than it was in store. I'm assuming it was to pay the guy's commission? I call the guy back and told him about the lower price online and the free delivery. He responded "Oh we'll match any price - which website did you see it on?" I told him the Howard's website. Then he replies, unapologetically "Oh yeah well the delivery is not supposed to be free for you but I'll go ahead and fix the charge. Come in and I'll make the adjustment for you". Same thing when I came back. Unapologetic and just restated how the free delivery didn't "usually" apply but he'd "fix" for me. Then on delivery day I get a call from Howard's saying that my delivery will arrive in 20 minutes. They arrived an hour later. I started opening the nicely packaged box no dents, or signs of tampering at all. Then while I was setting up the dishwasher I rolled it forward to install the electrical wires and the piping. While removing the conduit box I noticed a big puddle of water pooling up on my floor! I didn't realize that Howard's PRE-TESTED new dishwashers to make sure all the parts were in working condition ?!?!? Maybe it's just me but I had assumed that the NEW dishwasher would be dry inside and have no water. Seriously though, this was either a restocked dishwasher or it was used and sold as new. To sum things up - in my opinion these sales people (there are tons waiting for you inside the store) are commission based and there is no set price on anything. If they can get you to pay for it then they will. The delivery experience was below average due to the wrong notification. The delivery guys were quick but then again I had already removed the old dishwasher and placed it on the front porch for them to take. I gave them 2 stars because their prices are on the lower end and despite the service I was still able to get my price adjusted (technically I shouldn't have had to do this though). I would only shop at Howard's again online and only if I could find anything close to their price and only if I'm ok with not knowing for sure what time the delivery was coming. I will never be going in store unless its to check out the goods before buying online. To be fair they did say 12pm - 3pm(the night before) and arrived at 130pm the day of. But because of their call I prepped for them thinking it would be 12:20pm not 1:20pm. read more

Our washer and dryer decided to crap out at the same time. Went to a few different places and looked online for new appliances. We ended up at Howard's, and had a really good experience. Our Salesperson Mike D. was helpful and knowledgeable about the different brands that we were looking at. He was there when we had a question, but didn't hover and make us feel uncomfortable like we did in another store. We purchased a front load washer and dryer on Sunday and they were delivered on Monday. The delivery guys hauled away out old machines and setup the and tested the new ones. I've never done a yelp review, but Gladys's amazing service warranted me to write one and post it on my hubby's account J. Gladys was extremely knowledgeable about all the washer and dryers. She was able to answer all of our questions, provide good feedback, and even bring up important issues (such as the extra 4 inches needed for a dryer for the hook-up) which probably saved us from the definite frustration we would have had as we have a very small laundry room. We were there for a little over an hour and she was always patient and available to answer our questions. She was also sincere in her efforts to help, working with us on dimensions, brands, and pricing. She also provided invaluable information and advice for the delivery day as well as how to obtain a rebate for $250!!!. We've always bought our appliances from Pacific Sales, but am glad we visited Howard's this time. We will definitely be back, and ask for Gladys! I do have one disclaimer. The moving company (who is subcontracted by Howards) wasn't as friendly. They basically did their minimum (to deliver the washer, dryer, mattress, and box spring) and was out of there. Didn't answer questions, wasn't friendly, and had a "I just don't care attitude". read more
