Wow! This is my 1,000th review!…read more For this milestone, I just had to review Safari West. My family and I recently booked an overnight adventure here and visited on a Wednesday. We had such a fun time here and really enjoyed looking at and learning about the animals and glamping in their African safari tents. We drove down from Eureka for hours and made it just in time for the 2:00 classic safari tour! While my husband and two older boys did the classic safari tour, my youngest son and I did the Para transit safari tour, which is on a truck fitted with a ramp to accommodate a wheelchair. It also has the seats on top of the truck, one in the trunk with the wheelchair, and a seat next to the driver, and could easily accommodate 5-6 guests on the same tour. It is shorter than the classic tour since it doesn't go on the rougher terrain, which my son was ok with. Our guide was Jeff and he was great. We learned so much about horns vs. antlers, the various species roaming around, and even saw the baby rhino, Ozzy - named after Ozzy Osborne who passed away the day baby Ozzy was born. Since it was his 1 year birthday the day we were there, the staff decorated Ozzy's area with birthday decorations and even had a cake celebration with the staff. So sweet! My family on the classic tour really enjoyed their experience as well and told us about the other animals they saw on their tour. My middle son mentioned that a few animals were nosy and came right up to their truck. That evening, our family stayed in two tents, one wheelchair accessible tent and one regular tent w/ two beds. The tents were so fancy, they were fully furnished with super comfortable beds (better than the hotels I stayed in during this trip), comfy seats, space heaters, and decorated with beautiful African items and art. Bathrooms had everything we needed, I loved that the accessible tent was so spacious for my son and even had a shower seat. There is no refrigerator, but the deck had a cooler with complimentary bottles of water, and if you wanted ice, there were free bags of ice you could get from the front office to put in your cooler. Rooms included ear plugs I think if you are sensitive to the potential animal sounds, but I felt that our space heater was so loud (yes, we used a space heater at night because it was COLD at night!) it drowned out any animal sounds. I used the ear plugs anyway since I can't sleep with a lot of noise. We got the dinner package and it was buffet style. Our server brought us a fruit platter to start, and then we were able to go to the buffet where they had Caesar salad, smoked chicken, smoked ribs, Mac & cheese, potatoes, veggies, and apple cobbler for dessert. Everything was great, except I am told the smoked ribs were over seasoned and too salty. I did bring some wine from the winery we went to earlier on this trip and brought a glass to dinner, which they didn't say anything about, so I guess it was ok. They do serve drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) but it's an extra fee on top of the food package. After dinner, there was s'mores and I was told they were showing animal themed movies at 8:30 in the room next to the dining hall, but when we went, the lady in the dining hall told us that there was no movie that night since there was a private party occupying the space where they show the movies. So instead, we used the flashlights we borrowed at check in to wander around the animal enclosures to see the animals at night. It was fun trying to find all the animals in the dark. Overnight guests get a continental breakfast in the morning which included cereals, breads, pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit and scrambled eggs. Coffee, tea and juices were also available. Suprisingly my 17 and 14 year olds really enjoyed this park the most out of our entire trip. Being that there was spotty Wi-Fi, it forced them to enjoy our environment and have fun other ways. There's a gift shop with a variety of African themed items, and safari themed hats and vests for kids, and stuffed animals. Thank you Safari West for making our visit so memorable!

Avery's birthday at Discovery Kingdom was an absolute blast!…read more We spent a good six hours at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for Avery's birthday, and this was honestly such a fun first big amusement-park experience for our family. Avery had an absolute blast from the moment we got there until it was time to leave. The Looney Tunes characters were probably the biggest highlight for him because Looney Tunes is his favorite, and Wile E. Coyote is his absolute favorite character. We happened to catch Wile E. while he was closing down his picture area, but he still stopped to say hi to Avery. When Avery told him it was his birthday, Wile E. actually stopped what he was doing and brought him back over to the picture area so they could take a photo together. That was such a sweet little moment, especially because he didn't have to do that. We also caught the 3:30 Looney Tunes dance show, although we got there a little late and couldn't get seats because we were on the other side of the park. Avery didn't care -- he was out there dancing like he was part of the cast. One of the service team members noticed how much he was dancing and told me that if we came back around 4:15 for the 4:30 show, Avery might have a chance to get picked to go onstage for his birthday. And IT WORKED. Avery got picked to go onstage! He wanted to be on Team Bugs because Bugs had won the previous dance show, but he ended up on Team Daffy instead... and Team Daffy WON! He was so proud of himself and had the absolute time of his life. Watching him have that much fun on his birthday was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire day. We rode basically every ride Avery was tall enough and comfortable enough to ride, explored the butterfly garden, saw the lions and giraffes, watched the shows, ate pizza and breadsticks with our food pass, grabbed drinks, and still managed to squeeze in more rides afterward. There is definitely plenty to do here even if you're not spending the entire day on roller coasters. One warning, though: the Road Runner roller coaster is INTENSE. That thing has some serious whipping and an extremely abrupt stop. I would definitely prepare yourself for some unexpected movement because it is much more aggressive than I expected. Even some of the smaller kids might find it intimidating just because of how fast it moves. Know what you're getting yourself into before you climb on that one! Also, prepare to get your steps in. This park is big, and we walked A LOT. But honestly, that's part of the experience. There was always something else to go see, another character to find, another show to catch, or another ride to get on. For a first amusement park experience with our kids, I honestly couldn't have asked for a better day. Avery got to meet his favorite Looney Tunes character, dance onstage on his birthday, win a dance competition, see animals, explore the park, eat good food, and ride a bunch of rides. Everybody had fun, and it was absolutely worth the money we spent. This was our family's first real theme-park adventure, and it definitely opened the door for us to start checking out other parks too. Lots of DRAMA that is completely unnecessary for a children's audience. Way too LOUD. And they don't let children come anywhere near the stage to meet the characters like they used to. It used to be a fun, interactive, and inclusive DANCE PARTY FOR KIDS. We didn't see any Halloween themed stuff this year. Did it get canceled? More positive highlights - feeding the giraffes, a great value for just $10. Get there early! We also enjoyed the Wildlife Experience show - we saw a diverse array of animals. Overall, it was a fun experience for our group, although some experiences were closed (adventure zone and one of the restaurants). We still had a good time!

The prices are extremely reasonable for quite a few hours of enjoyable family time. Additionally, this is one of the few things to do in Guerneville that isn't a physical activity or eating/drinking. Unfortunately, I felt like I had to take a star off because this place is super run-down. Many of the greens are torn up, which makes it challenging to play each hole. There is also a lot of stuff everywhere, making the space feel cluttered and dirty in some areas. Compared to other mini golf courses I have been to, this one ranks fairly low on upkeep. Overall, a fun place to enjoy some time as a family. Great for young, old, and everyone in between. Just don't expect top-of-the-line greens or a pristine course.

The San Francisco flight was a bit dizzying but great and the T-Rex dinosaur experience was fully computer-generated but still a lot of fun. Each ride lasts about 10 minutes and features immersive details like tilting seats and wind effects from fans. It would be nice if they also added mists when you fly over the ocean. It's wasn't too expensive I believe it was $15 for adults and $13 for kids. Its something different to do if the weather is not great.

That wasn't too bad for myself, but if you are more than two or three people, it can add up. Regardless, it was well worth the money for myself to do. My kids had so much fun that they never wanted to leave, and I loved seeing them enjoy themselves and burn off all that energy. These are the kinds of memories you cherish forever--watching your children grow up and celebrating special moments in a place that always delivered a great experience. I'm a SUPER BIG kid with a teeny tiny competitive streak so what better place to go than to Scandia. With a play card already in the car, we used the self service kiosk to load up on play points. Each arcade station costs so many points to play. The machine accepted cash, cards and mobile pay. A few of the machines were broken, so after the machine took our points with no play we approached the counter and were credited via the play card. There were racing games with cars and motorcycles, shooting simulators, street fighter/mortal combat style games, asteroids, pac man, air hockey and more. The Fast & Furious racing simulator is the best, power ups, nitro packs, the setup of the steering wheel and pedal felt real, the interface was super engaging. My husband and I went head to head and it was incredible! This game is literally the reason I picked Scandia. Miniature golf too, we did both grounds - 18 holes each. We had a grand ol' time. Our daughter and I usually venture to Scandia for her playdates and for her play, but this time was amazing since I got to play too esp play what I wanted to play without compromise. I already recommend and enjoy every visit here.

We went for our grandson's birthday celebration with his friends. Thankfully, my son rented a cabana facing the wave pool. There was more private space to lounge and relax. I highly recommend getting a cabana for that reason. Otherwise, you'll be sitting in rows of plastic chairs. No outside food is allowed in the waterpark, so food lines are long. Food and drink prices are high for the quality you get. Some people go to their cars and eat food they've packed from home. We ate before we arrived, then snacked while we were there. But honestly, no one searched our bags upon entering. We watched kids this time, so we've never gone on any slides. The lazy river was super crowded and there weren't many floaters available. Most of the people were just walking through it, and the water didn't look clean. It was overall an okay experience, particularly because we had a cabana with lounge chairs, a table for eating, and some shade. It would be nice if the cabanas had water misters.

We paid $300 to rent a cabana, and no one ever checked our reservation or checked us in. We asked an employee how we were supposed to check in, and they didn't know. At no point did anyone verify that we had actually rented the cabana, which made us wonder why we paid $300 when it appeared we could have simply walked in and sat down. The cabana itself had tired, worn furniture and offered no additional service or amenities that we could see. Essentially, we paid $300 for a place in the shade. We also purchased the $20 unlimited-refill drink cup, but within a few hours the refill station had run out of ice, so the soda was warm. When we asked whether there were other refill locations, staff couldn't tell us. Even the water bottle filling stations ran out of water about halfway through the day, which was especially frustrating at a water park on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, the lack of helpful customer service was a theme throughout the day. Several employees seemed either poorly informed or uninterested in helping. When I asked the employee stationed outside the regular swimming pool whether it was open, she simply shook her head "no"--no explanation, greeting, or even a smile. Most of our interactions with staff felt unfriendly and dismissive. The ride operations were also frustrating. While waiting for Tornado, we realized there appeared to be only four four-person rafts in circulation, despite a line with hundreds of people waiting. It was incredibly inefficient and made the wait unnecessarily long. The rental tubes for the lazy river also ran out before the day was even halfway over. We expected crowds and lines at a water park on a summer weekend. What we didn't expect was a shortage of ride equipment, rental tubes, ice and even drinking water, combined with staff who often couldn't answer basic questions. For the amount of money a family can easily spend here in one day--especially after paying an additional $300 for a cabana--the overall experience simply did not feel worth the cost. Hurricane Harbor could be a really fun park, but the operations and customer service need significant improvement.

An okay one-time tourist attraction…read more I didn't know this existed until I came here with my family this past weekend. It had been a while since I last visited Pier 39. We were showing my aunts and uncle around the city, so I thought this would be something fun to do with the family. We had 8 people, and it was $14 per person. After we got our tickets, we went up the escalators to the second floor and walked inside. There was no wait. We sat in the top row, and we could see the edge of the screen. If you have the option, I would recommend choosing the bottom row. Note, if you're super, super afraid of heights, this may not be for you. The guard rails go away and the platform slightly lowers during the ride. I'm afraid of heights but this was nothing for me. However, my two aunts told me they were gripping the handles tightly the entire time. The experience was really short, about 5 minutes or so. For the price, video quality, and duration, I wouldn't pay to do this again. Definitely not worth the $14 per person.

The walkway towards one entry of the dog park was flooded through during my visit, but there's another entry after crossing a bridge. Half the dog park was shaded by trees and the other half was nice and sunny. The fall atmosphere was really pleasant.

Lol I'm not too sure what that does within the sewer system or maybe it was a clean drain pipe, but it looked a little off to me or dirty? Lol. Nevertheless, my dogs like the area and when we got to the dog park, there were three different entrances. I didn't realize that at the time, and we walked in the entrance closest to us once we crossed the bridge. That was covered with hay, which sadly I'm allergic to, and my throat was closing as we walked towards the back where the Half of the dog park was closed due to mud. Guessing they put hay over the entrance by the front because it was muddy, but goodness! My dogs like the area and they're paused. Did get a little muddy, but they didn't really find any friends although there were a number of different dogs there and cute little community circles! People seem to know each other since this park is in a local neighborhood and I'm sure they walked from the neighborhood. Not sure if we'll go back to this dog park. Maybe when it's not raining, so I don't die from the hay. Lol.
