I LOVE THIS PLACE. I bring my dog Bentley and he is a Shih-Tzu ALL the time. I been many places in Dallas, San Diego and Chicago and he usually comes back with a ding or scratch. I know he may be difficult cause he is a pampered pet but he always comes back from here looking perfect as he is. The prices are even better for the extras I request. He always gets full groom with oatmeal bath since his skin is sensitive and teeth brushed. They even gave him the cutest Mohawk at my request. Customer service is also amazing. I want to start of by saying that I have been bringing my pups here for the past yr or so. I did my homework and Howlistic Grooming came very highly recommended. I have had no issues until now. I went to pick up my dogs, did not really take a look at their hair cuts since I've never had an issue with them. Once I drive home and I start cuddling my pups, I notice what a horrible job was done on them. One in particular, was so badly trimmed, that she practically has bald spot, by her neck, he legs, her belly, it was so uneven. The worst part is that my poor pup was so traumatized by whatever they did to her that she couldn't sleep without waking up crying. I used to love this place, even when they raised their prices, but now I won't be returning. If they are in a rush to finish a pups grooming, why even schedule so many appointments. I know it was a rushed job, since I was called because the groomer wanted to know how fast I could pick up my pup so they could make it to an "appointment". read more

This place is great! Family run. They take the time to meet your dog so your pup feels comfortable. I just moved to the area and they were highly recommended in the neighborhood. I would highly recommend Howlistic Grooming! We've taken our 5-year old schnoodle to other places in the city and none of them even come close. The staff really cares about dogs and they're extremely kind and helpful. Not to mention, Shelbie is very shy and gets nervous at the groomers, vet, etc. He loved it here and especially loved his camo bandana. This will be our groomer as long as we're in Chicago! I visited Howlistic Grooming today and had an amazing experience. I live on the north side but it is worth the treak. I took my Bichon Poodle, Pierre, to get a full service grooming and it turned out great. I called last minute and got an appointment right away. The place is very clean and neat. The hours are great also. The winter storm did quite a number on Pierre and he looked super rough. Anderson, the owner/groomer made him look wonderful again. The price was about average for the city but well worth the money spent. read more

Recently moved to Chicago and needed to find a groomer for my 3 yr old shih tzu who is kept in full coat by the way. Anderson did a fantastic job. By far one of the best groomers we have ever been too. Her coat was soft, shinny and I could not find a single mat. Oh and he is very affordable too! Normally it takes us forever to find a decent groomer but looks like this time we were lucky on the first try. Definitely plan on returning and would highly recommend to anyone. read more

Great job on our puppy miniature schnauzer. She had knots and more knots and we were told by an alternate that she will need a puppy cut but we wanted keep her breed's look and Lauren was so helpful. I just had an outstanding experience at this place. I have a 4 year old cockapoo and he had a really awful, traumatic experience the last time I groomed him so I shopped around for a while before setting up an appointment with Howlistic Grooming. Andrew (Anderson?) is awesome! He managed to make my mangy mutt look as cute as possible while taking care of all the matting. He didn't "need" to shave him like other places did. He even called me during grooming to tell me about some matting behind his ears and on his neck. Best of all, we've got none of the head-shaking, ear-scratching or hiding-under-the-bed-in-shame action that we've had in the past from other groomers. Pickles is comfy and happy and looks pretty darn cute. Not much you can do for a super-matted cockapoo, but Andrew did it! Totally reasonably priced (cheaper than most) and an easy walk if you're coming from Pilsen :) read more

This place has been open for a week and is a much needed addition to the University Village area as the only alternative (that I'm aware of) to PetSmart, which I can't stand for a whole host of reasons. Anderson the owner was really nice, professional and patient. The place is clean and I felt very comfortable leaving my dogs there. Both of my dogs look and smell great. They even got cute bandanas to wear home. The best part was the price. I was a little shocked. I don't take my dogs to the groomers often and try to do as much as I can at home to save money so maybe I haven't shopped around enough but I was expecting it to be much more for both dogs. It was $50 for BOTH dogs (after a $10 per dog first visit/coupon discount) for bath and nails ... even without the discount the price seems really good compared to what I have seen elsewhere. I particularly like that the size of the dog is taken into account with the price. I have a 20 lb spaniel mix and a 50 lb retriever. It was $20 ($30 reg) for my small dog and $30 ($40 reg) for my medium dog. And all of the products are all natural. Hopefully the place gets a website up and running soon because I went in not quite knowing what to expect. read more

Unfortunately, all good things come 2 an end! My love affair with Mobile Spa Grooming is officially over. Been with them for over 5 yrs and the last few grooming services were just...well plan bad! So I was hesitant to venture because I have senior babies until my friend, who also has a Shih Tzu, recommend Howlistic! There was a difference from jump when scheduling an appointment! (the former joint exercises your patience during apt booking) The owner was very informative and listened well to my specifics. (I am neurotic dog mom...I admit it!) He was able to see me the next day. Upon arrival the place was clean and the owner (super cute) was just the best! My dogs who are normally not so willing to leave my loving arms went to him with no worries. He treated my boys like gold...no caging...lots of sweet words...just like mom! lol A few hours later, my babies emerged smelling of coconut and tails wagging! The groomer did an excellent job...so much so, I tried to offer my cousins hand in marriage just to keep his ass close! lol My babies are gorgeous & not stressed as they usually are during/after grooming. This is our new place & I'm tell'n er'body! (the 15 m in flash parking right in front is a total bonus!) read more

I'm really disappointed with my puppy's last groom here. I took my puppy here several times before, and all went okay. I was never in love with the cuts, but they were decent. However, the last time I was here was my last. I have a 3 pound puppy, and she's usually done within 1.5 hours. This last time, she was there for 4 hours! When I came to pick her up, her face and ears weren't even complete. I saw her siting in a cage, shaking, and waiting. Heartbreaking for a puppy parent. When the groomer finished, TOO much hair was chopped from her face and ears. I almost didn't recognize her! Upon further inspection, I noticed that her hair on her head, neck, and a little down her back was a lot shorter than the rest of her body and legs. It wasn't blended; there was a noticeable difference in length. About a 1 inch difference! I think the groomer got too busy juggling all the other dogs that he "forgot" to trim the rest of her. The grooming was so uneven that I had to fix a lot of it at home. I also noticed that her nails were not trimmed. They were still long and smooth. When they are trimmed, they are sharp. I called Howlistic to ask if they clipped my puppy's nails, and they lied and said yes. The time before my last, they also tried charging me $60 for a 3 pound dog when I always paid $55. I'm definitely not bringing my fur baby here again. You lost a customer. read more

By my own admittance I am a VERY high maintenance dog mom!! I have an Australian Labradoodle with long wavy hair ( not the easiest to groom) I like her as long as possible but also realize that is a tough coat to maintain. Howlistic nails it every time!! She was really friendly and attentive during the consultation and when I picked him up later, he looked fantastic. The cut was exactly what we were hoping for; very precise. Just picked up my pup and his haircut was great and he smells amazing! Oh my goodness. I got a referral from a friend to get my Yorkie Penny groomed here. It was fast, and so nice. The price was also very reasonable. I really like how they groomed penny and I will not be going back to Petsmart. Amazing! I took my shih tzu to this groomer only because he had gotten very good reviews, and her usual groomer had surgery and was unable to groom for the next month. I warned him that my shih tzu is very termpermental and has "issues" with getting groomed. She normally has to be sedated for this procedure. When I called to check in, he said she was enjoying her "spa day". I arrived to pick her up and she was still on the table. Sitting as if she was enjoying herself. She looked and smelled amazing. The staff is friendly and the turnaround time is great! I've been there twice now and both times they were able to get my dog groomed under 90 minutes. I've been accustomed to 3-5 hours at other places so this is a pleasant relief. The cost is slightly higher then other groomers but for the service, quality and turnaround time it is definitely worth it. read more
