We finished lunch with an order of homemade bread pudding and tiramisu, the latter of which in 2012 won a chamber of commerce epicurean competition 1st place ribbon. While the majority of diners were older and a more mature crowd, there's a lot to be said for value, and we thought the menu price was better than reasonable and I think a lot of people will discover this as a value destination, something we all appreciate.

HS Greens is my go to spot for a fresh, healthy alternative for lunch during the week. Unfortunately, their first go at becoming the next brunch spot was an epic fail despite giving Reward members $2.95 Mimosa carafes. Once, you figured out on your own that they were doing table service instead of ordering at the counter you then had to wait for some one to notice you to get a table- this took about 20 minutes. Then, we're ready to partake in our brunch... but um this only left us famished. First the cheeses plate which supposed to be adorned with berries and preserves only came with a pile of grapes and cold bread. This was not corrected because they did not have any of the menu featured accompaniments in stock. Second, the salmon ceviche was undesirable due to the fishy taste and smell despite the fresh lemon, red onion and avocado. And last, after more than 30 minutes of waiting for our entree orders of turkey chili, breakfast tacos, an egg plate, and avocado eggs Benedict we asked about our order and was told that the kitchen never printed it... thus we were without food. Our gentle waitress gave us two options, to wait a little longer for our food (while our stomachs devour our spines) or the manager will come out and give us a gift card to try back another day. After being at HS Greens for more than hour and still no food, we opted to chat with manager and try again later. Only problem is the manager never came and about 10 minutes later our waitress emerged with a $25 gift card. Told as a cautionary tale.... HS Greens needs a little more work to do before their venture into the brunch world. For now, I'll stick to their amazing salads and superb fire grilled pizzas (which are not available during brunch). read more

Healthy and indulgent "fresh" options? I called to order Guacamame which is avocado and edamame and was advised "it's premade" when I explained I needed mine with no onions. Now, they have avacado sitting there to add to burgers, and other option items with sandwiches and a salads and they have edamame, and the tomatoes already diced -why can't make a one off serving of the guacamame? "Because it's all pre made??" So this stinks for anyone with a food allergy you are just out of luck at this place. The person that answered the phone was very nice, Taylor was her name and she even asked after I insisted and she was also advised "premade" scripting and was told no they can't it's just "premade" and they can't do that. HS Green is absolutely delicious!! I go there frequently on my lunch break. Today I was there dining in and had the most attentive bus boy I've ever seen. We had just sat down and realized we forgot to pick up utensils. Before I knew it, he had grabbed us napkins fork and knives and politely handed them to us. He stayed busy going ABOVE and BEYOND for everyone in the store that day. When we were finished eating he was there in a flash to pick up our trays. I'm telling you......he made all the difference. Obsessed w/ the build your own salad bar at HS Green! I live nearby on 610 and San Felipe so I love having this gem accessible near my home. I often order on Doordash as well. They pride themselves on serving made from scratch meals, which I pride myself for eating! I can't stand processed foods... For the quality and portions being served, I know Im getting plenty for my dime. It's also a great place to meet a friend for a casual happy hour, the wines are $5 by the glass and craft beers are $3! You can't find this bargain anywehre else. Cute and modern healthy spot in the Galleria with great food and juices! This is my go-to place after the gym, I usually get the duck and watercress salad. It's hard to pick a favorite but I love all the pizzas, salmon salad, salmon entree, rotisserie chicken, and steak wrap. I have yet to try the burger although I've been eyeing it since my first visit. All in all this is a nice pick for a casual lunch or dinner, date, meet-up, coffee meet-up, oh and they have wine and beer too. The standout star of the menu is the smoothie selection. It's enormous! Like the food it's wickedly overpriced, in fact moreso, especially if you get whey protein in your smoothie. Smoothie King (the chain) is just as good - if not better - and much cheaper. Despite all this, though, their location is perfect. It's inside the Trotter YMCA, which means that before or after your workout (while you're waiting for your girlfriend to shower, and I mean, waiting, and waiting, and waiting), you can have a delicious protein-packed smoothie and some chicken breasts (better than no breasts at all) for a whopping $20 or something. The breasts are a special, only served on certain days. But then, we all know breasts are special. I'm serious about the prices though, if you get a large smoothie with whey it's close to $10. There's no whey it should be that much. Also another negative about the smoothies is that the ridic. hot female person I shared them with let me have the whole things because she hated them so much. The enchilada plate comes with 3 enchiladas, 2 sides, and a corn bread. It use to be $9.99 and then they started charging $10.99 which is fine. But today they posted a sign that said the enchilada plate will now only be 2 enchiladas instead of 3. I walked out when I read that sign. The enchiladas are small and the sides are small as well. This is a little restaurant inside of the YMCA. That little plate is not worth $11.90
