If you are looking for a new gym in the Garden Oaks/Heights area you need to check out HTX. This isn't just a boxing gym, it has options for everyone and every interest. The gym has 15,000 sq. ft of free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. If you need flexibility they have the option to add 24-hour access. If you prefer classes they offer group training, personal training, boxing fitness classes, and 1-1 mitt work. If you are interested in golf Ricky offers golf fitness training. They are constantly making improvements and reinvesting in the gym. The owners (Ricky and April), GM (Sal), and coaches (Afton & Max) are all personable and extremely knowledgeable. The vibe here is supportive, the music is great, equipment is top of the line and I have so much fun! This gym is a great addition to the Oak Forest/Heights area. I'd been working out for several years and felt I was in good shape. After my first class at HTX, I went home and realized that there were many muscles that I hadn't used. We have both noticed a difference in our bodies, losing inches in the first month. Great place, with great people. Everyone is enthusiastic and welcoming. The boxing classes are scalable and a fantastically fun and unique way to do cardio (running is misery for me now that I know about boxing). There's no sparring, you hit heavy bags in the boxing classes, not people. The bags have never hit me back, so I think I'm undefeated at HTX FightCamp! There is also a weight lifting area. Love the atmosphere and overall feel of this gym. The trainers are amazing and motivate you to keep going in order to reach your goal. I've done the boxing class and if you are like me and hate doing cardio this is the way to go. The 45 min session goes by quickly and by the end you're left dripping with sweat because of the 500+ calories you've just burned. Also, if you want to weight train you can do that here too. The facility is organized and clean. They also have a bathroom with a shower, so if you have to head to work after an early morning session HTX FightCamp has you covered. I love this place. Been a member for 3+ months and been able to tone-up significantly in that short time. The classes are fun, efficient and challenging for every skill-level.
