This is my GO-TO Mexican food spot when I'm on the south side. I won't even consider anyone else. It's a small family-owned business. The serving size is more than enough to fill up - especially if you're dining in. While the wait times are a bit longer, it's no issue because everything is made fresh to order. I love their pineapple and mango beverages. They use real fruit. As of now, it's BYOB. But I can't wait until they get their liquor license. If the margaritas are of the same quality as their Mexican cuisine, it's going to be amazing! This restaurant will always have a special place in my heart because it's where my partner and I had our first date! :o)

First time here got the tacos and Horchata everything was good. Our server was very nice and helpful with the food items. Definitely will be back!

Very meh. My date and I went here on a Monday night since, to our dismay, Ja'Grill's kitchen closed as we walked in and Thai 55 no longer took dine-in. Huaraches was right next to Thai 55 and open til 11, so we went in. The kid who seemed to be running the place told us to sit where we liked. We wanted the table by the window which was dirty and the kid said, "Yeah fine I need to clean it." What's with the attitude, homie? He proceeded to stroll around the restaurant at a leisurely pace, dropping off checks, chatting with the other worker (who wasn't working, btw) and taking his sweet time. He finally comes over and begrudgingly cleans the table. Then ambled back to grab a couple of menus and nonchalantly drop them off. Nothing irks me more than dismissive service. But since we were hungry and there was no place else to go late on a Monday night, we stayed. The menu was decent enough, had all the traditional Mexican favorites, so I ordered a chicken flautas dinner and a Jamaica Jarrito. He order the steak burrito and a fresh cantaloupe juice. Our food arrived and while my dinner was plated nicely it was rather uneventful. There was hardly any chicken in the flautas and they were dry and unseasoned. My date's burrito looked rather tasty albeit the lack of garnish and accompaniments. Also, I chose not to be all up in his plate like I usually do in dates so I can't confirm if the taste matched the looks. I did taste his cantaloupe juice and it was very tasty and refreshing. That and the guacamole were the highlights of my dinner. . Step yo game up Huaraches. There are of too many amazing Mexican restaurants in Pilsen and in the far eat side that people can and will go to instead of being subjected to this mediocrity. Being in Hyde Park, you have the perfect opportunity to make a name for yourself by delivering better food and better service. I won't be back.

I'd been wanting to try Huaraches for quite some time, but never made it to any of their locations for whatever reason. Finally, one night I decided to order from the Hyde Park location after deciding I didn't want to cook. I placed an order via Uber Eats for two taco dinners. The bill came to about $28 (food only) which was fairly reasonable. We ordered steak tacos on corn tortillas. The dinner included rice and beans. Honestly, the food left something to be desired. The quality of the meat wasn't that great and the rice and beans lacked flavor. The beans were watered down and the lettuce seemed old. Overall, the food just wasn't that good. That was the first and last time I'll eat at Huaraches.

What a breathtaking experience coming here and lots of colorful and mind-blowing flavors. If you want to have the most amazing time of your life either after a long day at the Museum of Science and Industry or just a normal typical day. This is definitely a great place to eat, You need to come to Huaraches Mexican Restaurant located in the East Hyde Park neighborhood. Eating at Huaraches took me to another world that i haven't yet experience. The food was fresh and tasted amazing. Upon our arrival, we were able to find available seating right away. They brought us chips and hot home made salsa. I order una refrescante agua de jamaica mediana or Medium Hibiscus cold tea, two steak and one al pastor tacos with everything. Once the food arrived, I was astonished by the side of the tacos, They were huge, they were at least three sizes bigger than a normal taco and full of meat. My first bite was so good, and good is not even enough of a word to describe how the tacos were. With every bite my mouth was experiencing punches full of colorful flavor and taste. The price is average for three tacos and if you are coming from the north side or west side or any where from Chicago, If you're in the mood for some authentic Mexican food, this is the place for you and the drive is worth it.

Really, really, really great asada nachos. The guac & asada were perfect. The cheese and the sauce were great, too. Prob my fav nachos I've had!

I must say, the food was delicious! They make their own tortillas and you can tell with each tasty bite. The chicken was well marinated and not over cooked. The aqua fresca was made to order and very refreshing. They are byob so if you're looking for Margs, stop by the store before hand. Service was fast and restaurant was quite for a Tuesday at 6:45.

Traje a mi hija y a mi sobrino aquí después de una actuación y con los estómagos muy vacíos. No hace falta decir que nos fuimos de aquí completamente satisfechos y recibimos un servicio excelente. Hermoso espacio también.

The Restaurant: This location has gone through a couple different restaurants with the latest being Huaraches. The decor is the exact same as the previous restaurant: same tables, same chairs, same. Decor is nothing special. The Food: That food was delicious! The tortillas are HOMEMADE, thick and filling, just like grandma would make them. We ordered a huarache of chicken with mole, and that one dish could have been enough for two people, it was huge! I had the bistec a la Mexicana. The meat was flavorful and the size of the plate was large enough that I had a whole meal for leftovers. We left super happy with the food. We also tried the flavored waters which are made fresh - yummy natural flavoring. The Service: They are BUSY! The two women in the front WORKED LIKE THERE WAS NO TOMORROW! They did not stop once, back and forth back and forth. They definitely need help. There was probably only one cook as the food did take some time to come out. But wow - these ladies are some HARD WORKERS. They did the best they could as fast as they could and for that I am grateful. Don't go if you don't have the time or the patience! Will I go Back? ABSOLUTELY - as long as I'm in no rush.

We came looking for a bite for lunch before heading to the museum. Glad we stopped by! The staff is very nice and responsive. Food came out very quickly was delicious. We ordered a huarache (arrachera), huevos con chorizo, and some tacos. It was all very tasty and I would say if you're in the area this place is worth a visit. The steak was well seasoned and cooked nicely. Salsas were tasty, tortillas are made fresh.

We stood at the door for about 20 minutes before someone finally told us the wait would be 1-2 hours. Keep in mind, the place is pretty small and already crowded, so there's barely any room to stand while you wait. When we returned, we were seated along the wall in a very tight space--so tight that if I stretched my arm out, I would've hit the person next to me. We noticed a large table nearby had been sitting for a while without food. When their food finally came out, it made us realize our wait would probably be even longer. After another 20 minutes passed and we still hadn't been able to order, we decided to leave. I'm not sure the space is fully ready for the rush right now--it feels overcrowded and service is slow. I'll give it another try once the hype dies down. I'm happy for their success, though--just be prepared to be patient when you go.

Starting with margaritas (because obviously ‍), queso and chips that were dangerously good, and the chicken empanadas that came out perfectly crispy with so much flavor. I genuinely cannot stop thinking about it. So savory, flavorful, comforting, and packed with crispy carnitas on top with the eggs and pickled onions... literally unreal. And then the skirt steak tacos absolutely stole the show. The steak was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and paired so perfectly with all the toppings and sauces. Every single bite tasted fresh and homemade in the best way possible. And can we talk about the ambience for a second because WOW. The music, the energy, the vibe inside, everyone celebrating, the drinks flowing -- it felt like the perfect Cinco de Mayo dinner spot.
