I think they're always a solid choice for a Mexican restaurant that is open late, infinitely better than say Taco Burrito King. I love 3 items from here: 1. Fresh fried chips. I salt them to my liking and they hold up the next day. 2.carne asada tacos are seasoned.the cilantro and onion are finely Chopped and I particularly like their red sauce with these tacos. 3. Nachos are totally worth getting. Please note that these are not text mex style nachos so no cotija or pickled onions but they have plenty of meat and cheese and jalapenos. I skip the tomato and my husband skips the sour cream (:() If you're looking for traditional yellow nacho cheese, dont get these nachos. If you're hungry and want a heaping pile of meat and cheese with some jalapenos these are great! What I'm neutral about: Their rice is bland. Their beans taste re-refried. Not always but more often than not. I have no complaints except for the slighly damp smell. It always feels a bit stuffy when dining in so i mostly get takeout. I used to really like San Jose but I have to say it feels like they've fallen off a bit as of late. Good things: They're still open pretty late in a city where things close early and they give you free chips and salsa when many taquerias dont bother anymore. This time I went with my friend and got a burrito. This is where it wasn't great, my burrito was well made and tightly rolled but pretty small for the 13.00 price tag. My friend only ordered a taco and asked for a $4 side of guacamole even saying that she only wanted it for her taco. She got a decent sized plate of guacamole with 5 chips stuck in it. But when we got our check, we found they had charged her 13.00 for her guacamole side as chips and guacamole. Not only did this feel a little questionable but if you're going to charge 13$ for chips and guacamole, you need to give more than 5 chips. read more

I had this when I was younger and I remembered not liking tacos, but my cousin has gotten me into liking tacos! We ordered for pick up and the customer answering our call sounded annoyed and really wasn't interested in taking our order. That's what this felt like & it was really sad hearing the lady sigh every 2 seconds taking out order at 9 PM/ We ordered 7 tacos, 2 horchatas, 1 steak burrito; and 1 hibiscus drink. Tacos are so so good here and they're prob one of the best ones I've had! The MEAT ratio to taco is crazy and you get a ton of sauce to go with every taco ordered. They're generous with meat and sauce and I really enjoyed eating these tacos. 3 is usually enough to fill my stomach! A ton of cilantro for flavor and crunch, generous on onions too. Customer service isn't great, however the tacos are pretty good! One of the top 3 taco places in terms of flavors, but customer service isn't the best. Unsure of where to start.. The service was very slow and lacked communication amongst servers. It is seat your self style. Once we received our menu it took 20 minutes for our order to be taken and an additional 30 minutes for our food to be served. There were other people in the restaurant who got there after I did and there orders came out the window quick. The overall atmosphere is very quiet to the point where you do not want to talk loudly as it was not live. Their main focus at this restaurant is all online orders or take out which is unexceptional when in house customers should come first. On the other hand the food was okay. My taco de pastor was on the smaller side and wasn't what I was expecting. My gordita de asada was filling and the masa had a good flavor. Once the best Mexican option in Bridgeport, this place has REALLY gone downhill over the years. The steady decline started with bad service, so I switched to carryout. But recently they started cutting corners with food costs as well. For my most recent order, the guacamole was maybe 25% avocado. The other 75% was pico de gallo. Some pico mixed in for flavor and color is fine, but this was only used to save money. Also, the masa on the sopes was rock hard. Ridiculous to serve old, stale crap to paying customers. Ordered pickup. Food was not priced the same in store as it was on their menu online. Tortillas were hard as if they were old. Steak was chopped incredibly fine and there was plenty of fat throughout. Chicken tacos were okay. My main issue was that when I walked in and questioned the total I found out that I was being charged 9.50 for chips and guac. I clarified and said that I only needed a side order of guac and not a large portion. I was then told it one one size only. Yet, on the menu, you can order guac as an extra for tacos. But after todays visit we, husband and I, found out that they have been including an 18% service charge automatically without telling us. How we found out is because my husband questioned how a $55 and change plus the tip we included, before realizing they were ripping us off, came out to 77 and change so he asked for the other receipt where it shows what you ordered and in fine print at the bottom it states the 18% service charge. They are CROOKS! unless you wanna be a generous tipper and want to tip twice then yeah go ahead or just know that the tip is already included despite how many are in your group or by yourself it's an ok place. About minutes order, when my order comes out, it's missing the ground beef tacos. She looks at my receipt and says "You only ordered 4 tacos." I didn't like that. So here's my experience. The Guacamole was very good. The chips very fresh and the salsa and sauces were very good. The last two times I went there, I first had a chicken burrito with everything but cheese...and then asked them to add onions and cilantro to the burrito. They did so and I truly enjoyed. I ordered for pickup and the waitress (Joyce) answered the phone and was a pleasure to talk to, we bonded over Argentine culture through the phone so I felt a lot better about it while not keeping my expectations too high, I ordered 3 chicken tacos and my God I cherished those bites. The chicken is not dry, the onions are cooked & the taco on corn wasn't too oily or dry. It was the perfect combination and I added an horchata to go with it.
