You don't have to smoke cigars to appreciate Huckleberry's, I discovered today. I went in to check out their "writing supplies", hoping to find a nice leather-cover journal for a project I'm working on. Not only did I find one, I bought two. And beautiful, they are. The pages are handmade paper. I think I entered huckleberry heaven. The best part: the price. The small one was 15 bucks, the large one only 25. I've paid much more than this for comparable. And after seeing their selection of gorgeous fountain pens, I'm tempted to go back for one. (I lost mine decades ago & still miss it.) The proprietor (Boomer?) is so cool, you will be beyond pleased. He gave me gift boxes for my journals & even some fancy tissue paper. I carried it all out in a lovely, sturdy handle bag. Was I on Rodeo Drive or was this really on Catalina in my own little village? Speaking of location, Huckleberry's was formerly up on the PV Hill. Now it's in Redondo's Riviera Village. Close enough for me to walk there from home, but I'll be too tired......because I'm so inspired to write that I'll probably be awake the whole damn night. Smiling.

What a great little shop for pens, stationary and cigars. Was able to replace my aging humidor and stock up on supplies. Owner was super friendly and helpful. Check it out!!

Has one of the better selection of cigars in the Southbay and prices are good. They always seem to have what I'm in the mood for.

There is an unbelievably RUDE manager at this store. I believe she might be racist/prejudiced. I do…read morenot know her name, but she has jet black hair and jet black eyebrows. She made me feel very uncomfortable and I will be contacting Chicos headquarters. Here is what I witnessed: These two middle eastern women were shopping (I think they were speaking Farsi/Persian) and one was trying on clothes in the changing room. As she was trying on each article of clothing, she was placing them over the top of the changing room door. (Keep in mind, these changing rooms are extremely small). The manager frantically approached this customer and said "You can't just throw the clothes over the door! They'll get dusty!" Taken aback, the customer replied: "The store gets cleaned, doesn't it?" And the manager said "Not up there!!!" She then turned around and muttered to herself (very loudly): "NO ONE ELSE DOES THESE TYPES OF THINGS. NO ONE." I could see the two women were very uncomfortable after being scolded by the manager about this and did not linger in the store much longer. They did not they buy any of the many items they had tried on. I don't blame them one bit, because I left quickly after too. My housekeeper always cleans the top of my doors at my house. Does Chicos not have the same standards of cleanliness? The manager basically announced to the whole store that they do not. To embarrass and scold a customer for something so unimportant is NOT OK. If anything, the manager should be contacting the store's CLEANING TEAM and letting them know that the changing rooms are dusty and dirty. Gross! I know this manager is capable of being polite, as another customer came in and she greeted them VERY warmly, as though they were friends. She gave these other two middle eastern woman the cold shoulder, however, and did not attempt to help them in any customer-friendly way. I was extremely disturbed to witness this. I wish I had gone back there and told that saleswoman what a rude person she is. This incident felt xenophobic to me, as they were speaking a foreign language, and this woman never appeared friendly to them at any point during their visit. Very "mean girl" energy. I will be contacting Chicos headquarters about this and reporting this incident. I was bystander, but it made me feel incredibly icky. I regret not comforting those women. I will also never be shopping at this particular Chicos again.

So disappointing! I have gone to this store for many years and went in today looking for a dress…read more As I walked around, looking at all the stock, about half the store was on sale (are they going to shut down like the other stores?), there were two sales people and a third woman by the register. I don't know if she was a salesperson or not, but they were talking and not one of them looked up, greeted me or even acknowledged my presence. I walked around the entire store twice, looking for what I wanted. I was ready to ask someone, but since they were so disinterested in my presence and engaged in their conversation, I decided to shop elsewhere. I will not return to the store. It's a shame because it's the only one in this area and buying online is always sketchy causing possible returns. What has happened to decent customer service?

So, not much is below $5 or rather "the good stuff" you think is $5 or lower like the Lego Sets are often priced at FMV fair market value ranges of $15-25. But that's more of a common sense sign of the times, so I can't walk into "Five Below" believing everything is $5 and under and am okay with that, I just need to check the prices before committing to a purchase. The check - out is self-service so they run a lean small staff. Parking is easy. Overall, it's better than Dollar Tree, on par with Daiso, and looks sort of like what the $0.99 Only Stores looked like before they closed up, with a greater assortment of higher priced items than lower priced items, but still a lot of novelties that were cheap (although sometimes cheap in quality and price in the "you get what you pay for" caliber goods). It's a good place to take kids 12 and under for an affordable impulse buy gift/treat with a great, generous perception by a child and a fun experience for all.

Review #923 2025-101…read more Located Peninsula Shopping Center, Five Below is a specialty discount gift shop chain that prices most of its products between $1.00 - $5.00, with some exceptional finds $5+. My son goes to Cantonese school across the street, & one of the moms mentioned there's a cute graphic tee that's perfect for our growing Chinese momentum: You're All That & Dim Sum! The tees section was quite large with lots to choose from. I got the dim sum tee for my 8 YO son, & also saw another tee (Born To Game Forced To Work... LMAO) that perfectly describes his latest transgression from studying, though there's not much to study or homework for that matter in elementary school. There's also toys & games, beauty products, candies & snacks, books, etc. They're similar to other discount stores like Dollar Tree & Daiso, but on the higher price tier with more variety & trend-focused products for the younger set. Customer service is efficient & friendly. I only waited a few minutes with a handful of people ahead of me. Parking is plentiful in the shopping center based on its location & doesn't compete much for spaces with the anchor stores or restaurants. Five Below is a great alternative for the bargain shopper! And now that the holidays are here... check 'em out for gift giving ideas.
