We showed up at 6pm and as we approached the door, the girl closed it, locked it and walked away. So we went to IHOP across the street. VA BCH HH gets 1 star. The sign size says open till 8:00 p.m. The website says open till 10:00 p.m. I assumed since the sign said we are open till 8:00 p.m. I got up to go in early so I wouldn't get there at 7:15 and have to eat in a hurry so went there at 6:30 and they were closed. Today was the worse, I've walked into the restaurant and saw all of the tables taken. They seem too busy until we notice no one was being served food. We sat there waiting for over 45 minutes and decided long enough and walked out. All of the servers were hanging around behind the counter with nothing to do. My bacon was not well cooked more on the raw side. They are hiring maybe the people are over worked but a smile and introduction never hurt anyone that's common decency. This restaurant sits next to a nice travel Plaza /truck stop called Simmons. It closes at midnight during the week but in Friday it's open 24 hrs. Outside the restaurant it is well lit with adequate parking. If you're in big rig like me there's plenty of truck parking at Simmons directly behind. When I walked in I found a clean, up to date restaurant with an inviting atmosphere of friendly staff. The bathroom was well lit, very clean and even had a scent airing on the counter My food was prepared right and cooked to order. As my order was to-go all my condiments and napkins were added. Blame your wait times and food poisoning on the FACT that the staff spends most of their time screwing in the dining area in the parking lot. JUST CHANGE THE NAME TO HO HOUSE! Pros: a) This menu is huge, and offers a variety more similar to IHOP than Waffle house. b) Unlike Waffle House, they have a fryer, and offer Wings, Fries etc... c) Clean Restrooms (Bigger than waffle house). d) Clean Dining Room. e) Friendly Service (They provided us with a free cup of coffee to go). f) They were featuring a Prime Rib tips promo menu. Reasonably priced and tasty. g) Very close to the interstate exit. h) The receipt offers a survey (7 day window). Upon completion, they provide a code for a free order of Mozzarella sticks or Brownie a la mode. *Oops, I waited too long, and missed out on this one. If I could give this establishment 0 stars, I would! Tonight was the first night I had decided to try Huddle House, never have I been there before. I ordered the family bundle deal which was supposed to feed 4 people. I went to the restaurant to pick up my order and the first issue was that the drinks I ordered, did not come up on their receipt at the restaurant so those were not ready. I had to show a lady named Tabitha, the email which consisted of my receipt. When I got home and unpacked the bags, I had seen that they gave me a single order (4) chicken tenders, 1 scoop of mashed potatoes with the wrong gravy, a scoop of macaroni and cheese, a scoop of green beans, and 4 biscuits. When I called the restaurant the lady who had answered gave the phone to her so called "manager". This "manager" who refused to give a name, was beyond rude and so disrespectful! I tried explaining to him that I had spent over $50 on this meal, giving a tip as well, and I did not receive the amount of food that I paid for! He stated that they open at 8:00 a.m. the next morning and a district manager will be there that I can speak with. He sat on the phone and argued with me, then quickly hung up. I'm really shocked at the reviews on this place--I had to double check I had selected the right one! My experience at the Huddle House early a Friday morning was great. The service was perfect. Our waitress was very quick with refills on coffee and very pleasant. We ordered our food and everything arrived quickly and tasted great. I got the hash brown stuffed country fried steak, and although not all that inspired in terms of fine cuisine, it was exactly as ordered and good--I wasn't too keen on the amount of hash browns being everywhere, 'cause boy were there a lot!! Hah. Very glad I decided to get the country gravy on the side. When we paid at the cash register we were even offered to-go cups for our drinks; felt like i was back in the south. We had a fantastic waitress by the name of Michelle. She was so friendly that in itself made it a pleasurable experience. Food came quick and was hot and delicious!
