To be honest, I have never heard of this place before. My friends and I were planning to go to Commerce Inn for brunch but the wait was way too long. So we ended up going here instead and I'm happy we did! We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation and they seated us at the bar first so we could get coffee. We ordered at the bar and then our table was ready, so our drinks came to our table. I got: - hot matcha latte: I got this sweetened with honey. - roasted pulled chicken sandwich: I added cheese. This was really good! It came with fries which were nice to nimble on (better than some places' other fries). It's really tight in here (as all NYC restaurants are). The tables are back to back. The menu has everything from a breakfast burrito, pasta, steak and even their in house baked cinnamon rolls DELICIOUS!!The food came to the table very hot and tasted extremely fresh. I was seated outside by the host and then minutes later forced to move to a table by the trash because a reservation requested the table I was at. I've worked FOH at a lot of restaurants and it's a pretty golden rule that you don't move someone that's been seated, regardless of the situation (unless they asked to be). You find the unseated people another spot and if there isn't one you create it or comp them drinks while they wait for one to open. But you don't move someone that's been sat. Especially for a table request, which aren't supposed to be guaranteed. Found it unprofessional and left before ordering. read more

Standard brunch fare in cozy/rustic surrounds. I'm mainly giving stars for the relative affordability. The food is alright, the atmosphere quite noisy. Our server was on top of checking in with us, albeit not the friendliest (did we ever make eye contact hmm). My friend and I got sat at a rather awkward spot, right next to another group of 4 and in the center of the room so our chairs were constantly bumped. Matcha latte ($6) was mediocre and not strong enough with the matcha. Hudson scramble ($18) was served somewhat warm and went cold fast, but overall was decent. The toast was quite hard but came with generous dollops of butter and jam on the side. The cinnamon roll ($6) wasn't special; the vanilla maple cream cheese frosting tasted like straight cream cheese without any sugar, which was odd, but the roll itself packed a nice cinnamon kick. Super fruit smoothie ($12) was pretty good. Things are priced reasonably (by West Village standards) for regular brunch fare, but this place is so noisy and packed that I'm unlikely to come back. read more

My bestie has been telling about this place for a while. We decided to stop in before a Broadway show "Bad Kreyol". It had a bit of a rustic feel and was very lively at around 4pm. Our food was so fresh and surprisingly didn't take long to come. We ordered vegan fried artichoke hearts, squash soup, grass fed and veggie burgers and a chocolate almond smoothie. Everything was delicious! The vegan fried artichoke hearts were a surprise hit. I didn't expect to enjoy them so much. They were light and airy but full of flavor. Met with a friend for brunch here. The interior was rustic, yet classy. There was a high end feel to the place. I ordered one of my favorite brunch plates: Steak and Eggs ($29) with rosemary fries. I asked that the eggs be cooked over hard, which they were. They were just okay. The steak was a little too well done, was chewy and on the bland side. The fries were nicely crispy, but had very little rosemary taste. For dessert, I tried the Bread Pudding ($13), which was dark chocolate chunk with chocolate drizzle, chantilly, and slices of orange on the side. The Bread Pudding was slightly warm, but was not like a true bread pudding, and was much more cake like. I enjoyed the richly sweet chocolate component and velvety smooth, creamy chantilly. The orange slices with strawberry on top were a disconnect, and did not pair well with the bread pudding. Service was all right. Pricing wasn't too bad, considering the prime West Village location. A solid spot for elevated food at NYC prices I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and enjoyed the food both times. Lunch fish sandwich was hearty and excellent and the various egg items also looked great. For dinner, I enjoyed the scallops appetizer (3 for the small portion and 5 for the big), which felt quite refined and light. They have a lot of interesting dishes that can satisfy the veggie and meat lover alike. They have nice outdoor seating in the back and a few tables in the front. It's not a huge place and can fill up quickly. While this place isn't a formal place, it doesn't feel like super approachable and friendly either (subtly uppity?) I don't gravitate toward this but the food has been really good and that's a major factor in wanting to return. read more

Went here for brunch on a very chill Friday so I decided to sit in the garden. The backyard garden is small but does a LOT for the overall experience. The blackened fish sandwich was tasty and the fish was flaky and far from dry. The eggs were also very filling with the mushrooms, tomato, and avocado. With a bit of extra salt these would be a 11/10, nonetheless very good, along with the lox which you cannot go wrong with. The jam and butter with the toast was a good compliment. Last and certainly not least if there's one thing you must get from this restaurant, it's the french toast! The crust is a perfect sidekick to the soft and fluffy bread. A very busy restaurant in the heart of west village. I came for brunch over the weekend and it was crowded both indoors and outdoors. Luckily my friend and I had a reservation and only had to wait a few minutes for our table. It's a little small and tight on the inside but nonetheless the atmosphere felt cozy. Mains (Burger & Chicken sandwich) were a hit across the board, except for Avocado toast which lacked seasoning & flavor. Drinks were OK; all the restaurants "take" from the Moscow mule to the non alcoholic drinks. What made this a 4 star experience, in a positive way, was the service! The servers were patient and also tried their best to accommodate our dietary restrictions and made us aware of any cross contamination. Upon entering, we were promptly greeted and politely seated. Ambiance was warm and inviting. The candles made it a most intimate experience. Our off menu special of the octopus appetizer was full of flavor and the protein was expertly prepared. The main dishes consisted of the linguine and mussels- I found the noodles more along the lines of ramen and undercooked, with onlyshadows of heart in the preparation, the mussels were a tad muddy for my enjoyment. My wife's steak was expertly cooked and hearty. The only way to have improved on her dish would have been to have included more than one fungi. This experience was almost comical and is a large reflection of how poor service is here. The food could do a dance but people should never be treated this way. My friend booked a reservation for Indoor at 1:15pm. We waited 20 minutes as they continuously told us to wait. Then they offered a table outside. This would be fine if the forecast didn't say rain for the next 6 hours. The clouds were rolling in, the wind was strong, and it was already drizzling a little bit. Never mind that our reservation was for indoor, and we had made the conscious decision to choose that. They then started to argue with us that our reservation was outdoor. We showed them the confirmation email that said indoor. Finally, after wasting 25 minutes of our time, we were finally told there was no seat inside for us. It was outside or nothing. There was no apology, no offer to rectify THEIR mistake, but then they said again our reservation was for outside. We decided to go elsewhere. While we walked away my friend checked her Resy app, and the reservation said "outdoor". She looked again at her confirmation email from days prior and it said "indoor". Instead of apologizing and owning up to the mistake, which would have been fine, they wanted us to look crazy and within their system blatantly abused their power to change the reservation to make us look like we were in the wrong. No brunch is worth this. There are so many other amazing restaurants in the West Village, I will literally eat anywhere else and encourage anyone to do the same. read more

Absolutely amazing! I've been wanting to come here for a while and finally was in the area and decided to dine for brunch. I got the lemon ricotta lemon pancakes and my husband got the egg white omelette and we split them both - great choice. The pancakes were delicious and rather light which was perfect and not overly filling. The pomegranate seed with a nice touch. The superfruit smoothie was also a great start, they were making them when we walked in and we could see how much fresh fruit they were putting into the blender which made for a nice thick rich flavor. The only slightly annoying thing was that the kitchen in the back kept selling "service" when they needed a server to come pick up the plates to bring out, hopefully they can find a better system for this. Wouldn't deter me from coming back though as I definitely won't to try their dinner! read more

Stopped by for brunch on Sunday and the awesome thing was that they take reservations!!! My friends and I ordered the burger that came with fries, a duck salad and a kale salad with chicken. Overall the burger was pretty good - you know they know how to cook it when they ask you how you want it to be cooked - that's a true sign of a good burger! Although their fries weren't the most appealing in looks, they make up for it in taste. I went here for a friend's birthday dinner and the food was incredible! (Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures.) For appetizers, we shared the little gem caesar salad, savory tart, duck confit rillettes, pan seared scallops, burrata and the house made ricotta gnocchi--my favorites were the rillettes and the burrata. For my entree, I got the seared Long Island duck breast, which was so delicious. The staff was incredibly attentive and nice, and the restaurant was really pretty. I also really liked the outdoor eating area, and will definitely have to try that in warmer weather. Highly recommend this place for dinner. Also, the Duchess was a great drink! read more

COVID report: Hudson Clearwater has heated outdoor seating both on the sidewalk and in their back garden. Believe they had umbrellas. My boyfriend and I visited in early April for dinner and sat in the garden. We started with the Volver and King's county cocktails, then shared the Gem lettuce, Crispy polenta, Hanger steak, Brussels sprouts and Warm chocolate pot. I dined at Hudson Clearwater last night for the first time at 6. The Decour is rustic and classy and it was nice to see groups of friends catching up. It was almost like Covid didn't exist for that night. I say almost because staff follow all covid protocols by wearing masks and checking your temperature before you come in. The staff were superb-always came around when needed and came to ask how everything was. I love that you can see the whole kitchen cooking right there. The men working are efficient and it was beautiful to see them make various plates. And there were so many delicious smells in the room too! I highly recommend making a reservation to eat indoors because they are quite popular. Now for the important part- the food! I love that they have options for every eater from the carnivore to the vegan. The broccolini was so flavorful. It was spicy and I didn't even know broccolini could pack that much flavor. The mushroom risotto was creamy and delicious. A bit salty for me but would totally eat it again. I had mushroom risotto in Italy and what they serve here is the real thing.They gave us some lentil soup for free and I really really recommend it! The vegan panna cotta with blood oranges and the sweet sauce was the perfect sweet end to the meal. I highly recommend coming here!! I was EXTREMELY impressed by all the safety precautions this restaurant is taking. They don't even leave the menu scanner on the table- they hold it while you scan as you're being seated. Along with that, they bring the payment machine (assuming it's an iPad but didn't look that close) to the table as soon as your ready, you slip your card in, decide tip, and easy as that you're good to go (making it VERY fast to get out once you're finished- I always appreciate efficiency!) I appreciated the wide array of non-alcoholic brunch beverages: vegan smoothies, juice, various coffee options, matcha, house-made natural sodas...! There's also the option to add organic CBD oil to any beverage for $3 - very forward thinking in my opinion! I say this because most places I've been lately only have plain coffee, no flavor, no variety- snore. I opted for a matcha latte with almond milk (the other non-dairy milk they have is oak) - it came with a cute mini spoon, a brown sugar packet & a Splenda packet. I added the brown sugar to mine & finished it before my food even arrived- so good. For food I ordered the huevos rancheros which comes in a skillet w/ eggs, tortilla, beans, salsa, avocado & some other goodness like pico. I asked for hot sauce upfront which they put in a little mini dish (no contact reasons I think) but it was that green sauce that's not very hot (in my opinion) and I like my food SPICY! So I asked if they had any others & one of the male employees told me they had some downstairs that they made yesterday but that it was dangerously hot, so I said perfect yes please! Once he handed it to me on a plate in another little dish I believe his words were- "seriously, be careful!" So naturally I dumped a big scoop on my food and went to town- it was SO GOOD! But the warning was valid bc the heat sneaks up on you indeed. 5/5 for getting in w/ no reservations, safety measures, homemade HOT sauce, and menu. Next time I'll be trying: vegan smoothie, CBD oil in latte, avocado toast (or cold smoked salmon). read more

I always had liked this place - it's a classic go to in the west village - until my last visit. The staff was very forgetful and kept forgetting to bring me water/utensils/etc while i sat outside. The icing on the cake was when I ordered the vegan salad and they brought me a duck salad. I did not realize it was shredded duck and assumed it was artichokes or something vegetarian (since i ordered the vegan salad after all) and i took one bite and realized it was definitely not. I told the wait staff they brought the wrong salad and i hoped i didn't get sick since it's been 10+ years since i've had meat. the waitress said no worries we'll bring you a the right salad - as if doing the right thing was something I should be thanking them for. they never apologized or offered anything for this mishap - i ended up having pretty bad stomach pain for the rest of the afternoon. never again read more

I'm sure he had a large section but another party in his section, seated the same time as us finished their meal, paid and left before he got our food served. Another party in the same section seated well after us was midway thru their meals by the time the host delivered our meals. The part that really pisses me off is that the waiter never said boo to us about anything. No apology. Nothing. Of course when he hands me the tablet to pay via CC the tip options are 20%. 22% and 25%. I kick myself for not asking what he would tip if he was me. The food was pretty good but I am never going back there again. I can accept things were slowed due to understaffing but they seemed to be only slowed for my group. And again, no explanation. My friend and I have been curious about this place for a while now, and today we decided to check it out. It was still early and the place was somewhat empty, the seating is 6 feet apart , and they're diligent with cleaning the tables down. I ended up getting the gluten free ricotta and lemon pancakes with a side of potatoes. The pancakes were excellent, very light and satisfying. The home style potatoes were perfectly cooked, each one was nice and crisp. My friend ended up getting the eggs Benedict's , and some kind of beet cocktail. The biscuit was nice and fluffy, the sauce was well balanced. We also ended up getting the cinnamon bun, the vanilla maple syrup frosting was a game changer , it was so good!
