The service was awesome and the food was amazing too! We sat outside and we went at a time where it wasn't too crowded so it was really great having brunch there! Highly recommend!

Standard brunch fare in cozy/rustic surrounds. I'm mainly giving stars for the relative affordability. The food is alright, the atmosphere quite noisy. Our server was on top of checking in with us, albeit not the friendliest (did we ever make eye contact hmm). My friend and I got sat at a rather awkward spot, right next to another group of 4 and in the center of the room so our chairs were constantly bumped. Matcha latte ($6) was mediocre and not strong enough with the matcha. Hudson scramble ($18) was served somewhat warm and went cold fast, but overall was decent. The toast was quite hard but came with generous dollops of butter and jam on the side. The cinnamon roll ($6) wasn't special; the vanilla maple cream cheese frosting tasted like straight cream cheese without any sugar, which was odd, but the roll itself packed a nice cinnamon kick. Super fruit smoothie ($12) was pretty good. Things are priced reasonably (by West Village standards) for regular brunch fare, but this place is so noisy and packed that I'm unlikely to come back.

My bestie has been telling about this place for a while. We decided to stop in before a Broadway show "Bad Kreyol". It had a bit of a rustic feel and was very lively at around 4pm. Our food was so fresh and surprisingly didn't take long to come. We ordered vegan fried artichoke hearts, squash soup, grass fed and veggie burgers and a chocolate almond smoothie. Everything was delicious! The vegan fried artichoke hearts were a surprise hit. I didn't expect to enjoy them so much. They were light and airy but full of flavor. The burgers were juicy and the French fries fried to perfection. We were so full, we had no room for dessert. Our servers were also so friendly and kind. Definitely will be back!

Met with a friend for brunch here. The interior was rustic, yet classy. There was a high end feel to the place. I ordered one of my favorite brunch plates: Steak and Eggs ($29) with rosemary fries. I asked that the eggs be cooked over hard, which they were. They were just okay. The steak was a little too well done, was chewy and on the bland side. The fries were nicely crispy, but had very little rosemary taste. For dessert, I tried the Bread Pudding ($13), which was dark chocolate chunk with chocolate drizzle, chantilly, and slices of orange on the side. The Bread Pudding was slightly warm, but was not like a true bread pudding, and was much more cake like. I enjoyed the richly sweet chocolate component and velvety smooth, creamy chantilly. The orange slices with strawberry on top were a disconnect, and did not pair well with the bread pudding. Service was all right. Pricing wasn't too bad, considering the prime West Village location. I was definitely not satisfied with my meal, so would not return.

A solid spot for elevated food at NYC prices I've been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and enjoyed the food both times. Lunch fish sandwich was hearty and excellent and the various egg items also looked great. For dinner, I enjoyed the scallops appetizer (3 for the small portion and 5 for the big), which felt quite refined and light. They have a lot of interesting dishes that can satisfy the veggie and meat lover alike. They have nice outdoor seating in the back and a few tables in the front. It's not a huge place and can fill up quickly. While this place isn't a formal place, it doesn't feel like super approachable and friendly either (subtly uppity?) I don't gravitate toward this but the food has been really good and that's a major factor in wanting to return.

Hudson Clearwater brunch is phenomenal. I've been twice now and have been impressed both times. It is so cozy and inviting inside, both times I've visited it's been too cold to sit outside but the patio looks great too. I recommend the breakfast burrito, cinnamon roll, and pancakes so good. My boyfriend had the duck hash and loved that too. Staff is all super friendly, I definitely recommend.

Blackened Fish Sandwich with Tartar Sauce, Eggs with Avocado, Lox and Toast, and the Cornbread crusted French Toast

Went here for brunch on a very chill Friday so I decided to sit in the garden. The backyard garden is small but does a LOT for the overall experience. The blackened fish sandwich was tasty and the fish was flaky and far from dry. The eggs were also very filling with the mushrooms, tomato, and avocado. With a bit of extra salt these would be a 11/10, nonetheless very good, along with the lox which you cannot go wrong with. The jam and butter with the toast was a good compliment. Last and certainly not least if there's one thing you must get from this restaurant, it's the french toast! The crust is a perfect sidekick to the soft and fluffy bread. This was by far the highlight of the menu and if I could get 2 servings of it I would! A delectable item and you are not doing things correct if you don't get this when you visit!

Went for my friends bday brunch and had the best time! Food and drinks were 10/10, and the service was great. We sat outside in the front but I recommend asking to sit in their backyard! They had a cute outdoor area in the back

Went for brunch and had the breakfast burrito with steak and avocado--it was delicious! We also shared the French toast and salmon toast. The French toast was so good we almost ordered another round. Service was great, and we loved sitting at the bar--the ambiance was perfect. Can't wait to go back for dinner!going you

Beautiful food, classy, cozy ambience, excellent service! Even if you just go there for either the olive oil cake with blood oranges or the dark chocolate bread pudding, it will have been well worth your time. Also at least half of your problems will magically go away, it's amazing.

I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. Let me tell you- I would have skipped dinner and just stayed here all evening if it was my choice! But alas, my husband wanted a bit more to eat. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! I love how friendly the staff was here and how unpretentious it all was. Next time we are in NYC- we will definitely make a point to come visit Rake!

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

Thank you to my lovely friend who spent who knows how long trying to get a reservation here. Chilled celtuce (4/5): is it a combination of celery and lettuce? idk but it kinda reminded me of radish, with a clean/slightly bland flavor but it had this hydrating quality to it and a nice crunch. Sesame shao bing (5/5): a literal drug in the most innocuous and tasty form of flatbread. It has the crispiest flake on the outside with a perfectly chewy doughiness to it and a literal slab of butter inside, which melts in real time (careful not to go too ham and let it dribble down your arms and get all over your clothes...because it's just THAT good). Sweet & sour short rib (4/5): the cook on these short ribs were super tender, I just think the marinade was very strong, with a particularly vinegary aroma. Eight treasure rice pudding with sticky toffee (4/5): she's a 4 only because I don't like toffee, but the rice pudding was hands down heavenly. Service was solid, and they have a chic, dim ambience for the tables inside whereas the outdoor seating sits underneath the lanterns and soaks up the streets of Chinatown, so each have a merit of its own.

Walked in at 8pm on a Wednesday and was able to sit right away for a limited time (1.5hrs), which was plenty for us. It's small, as most places in NYC are, and dark & intimate. They also have shared tables, so we sat with another couple. Huge wine selection. Everything we ate was delicious. To me, the Celtuce is more of a novelty - cool, yummy, fresh but small. The crudo was the same thing. So in my opinion, I don't think it's worth the money. The noodles were so good we got 2 orders of it - you cannot skip!! The dessert was also unlike anything I've had before. If you love sticky rice and caramel/toffee, you have to try it. Overall, I do think it was very expensive but the ambiance + some of the dishes were well worth it. I'd definitely come back.

Starting with the positives -the banchan was solid across the board and really flavorful. That said, charging for banchan feels strange to me. Traditionally, it's complimentary, like bread at an Italian restaurant so that part didn't sit right but it was flavorful. The chigae was interesting and probably the standout dish. It had a unique flavor that reminded me of a mix between soondubu and dwenjang chigae which worked well. Unfortunately, the rest was a miss. The bossam was overly salty and didn't feel true to the dish. The tteokbokki was another disappointment -it came with cheese (which wasn't expected) and just fell flat overall.
