I had a great experience dining at this restaurant tonight with my vegetarian friend. I myself am not vegetarian but love when options are available it makes for a better dining experience. Although the food is good the chill factor on a cold night can ruin ones enjoyment. Cold and miserable. Why doesn't this restaurant take credit cards? The waitress forgot to add up a bill correctly and we had to go to the ATM twice! This adds $10 to the price. For goodness sake get modern... Accept credit cards. Grow Up. Back to the food. This is currently my favorite restaurant in Hudson. The food is simply delicious. My husband and I both love the Asian ribs, which may actually be the best either of us have ever had. Food Studio doesn't brag about its local creds, but the owner makes an effort to support local farms, and as a result, the food always tastes fresh. Its also very important to note that almost everything on the menu is gluten free, which is great for me, since I am often confined to salmon, or a burger without a bun. The service is excellent, and their concept drinks are always worth trying. Definitely worth a trip. read more

Holy fu54king sh48 this place was the BIZness. Space is tight, it's a little cheek-to-jowl, but damn if this isn't on par with Mission Chinese/PokPok/Bunker. Seriously incredible Asian food with nods to Thai, Sichuan, Vietnamese, etc. Subtle, thoughtful, spicy, exciting. Honey roasted parsnips were refreshing, pork belly bao were huge and good, spicy lump crab cakes were really lumpy and crabby in the best way, and the pork greens and rice I dream about still. Highly recommend the spicy maple old-fashioned (forget the exact name), which was so much more balanced than most old-fashioneds. Why can nobody make a decent old-fashioned? Service was really awesome and friendly and helpful. My one complaint was the hostess who had a very heavy-footed stomp and wore these high, chunky wooden heels -- the room literally shook each time she walked by, which was often. Anyway, go here. Go here when you're in Hudson and you're tired of eating duck breast and salmon and kale caesars. read more

The five stars is given for all the delectable flavorful thoughtfully prepared food however the winner was the Berkshire pork bao. Not only is it the best pork belly bao I have ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot of pork belly bao in my life) but it was truly transcendental. The Berkshire pork was locally farmed and the best pork I have ever eaten. And I buy local grass fed jersey and New York pork from farmers for years and prepare beautifully (typically braise or slow bbq) but this was a different level of flavor of pork as well as incredible preparation. The bao bun was a perfect texture, size, and flavor. The pork was perfectly seared and with incredible flavor and the balance of umami and pork belly fat and meat (amazing flavor and surprisingly not greasy) with the sweet hoisin sauce, chilli rub (on pork?) which left a slow and subtle burn and spice and homemade mildly pickled cucumber. Wow!!!! It was similar to a perfectly conducted and performed Mendelssohn Violin in D major: the proportions of flavors came together as truly beautifully orchestrated. This is a very gifted, thoughtful, and serious chef. I was perfectly satisfied and wish I ordered three of these as our entrees as this may be the most delicious thing I have eaten in years. I was already set to return the following day just for this!! However we ordered the Burmese curry, the spicy chicken noodle, and sides of slaw and greens. Everything was delicious, and our favorite was the slaw. The seasonings of the dishes were rich with fresh herbs, lime, peanut, chilli, to me reminiscent of northern Thai and burmese cuisine. The service was warm kind and hospitable. If this is representative, then I cannot believe the quality of food in Hudson!! The quality of locally sourced farm ingredients as well passion and creativity and skill in preparation is superlative! read more

Food is excellent. It's a long narrow space where most of the seating is at a long continuous table. Easy to get to know interesting strangers. The one drawback are the table tops. They are made of narrow gauge butcher block and have been quite sticky-each visit. Management needs a new cleaning process- not the same old moist dishrag wipe. A bio friendly spray and clean towels would be a welcome upgrade. Same goes for the floor, which is often sticky. It's a simple fix. See something, say something.. read more

We were exited to try food studio and we were not disappointed! Ambience and space are very cute! Warmly greeted by a lovely hostess and got a perfect table for us. Nice efficient service. Now for the food. Portions and prices are quite good. I was very surprised! We started with the jumping squid and crab cake and duck confit. Skip the crab cake. Worst thing we are for the night. It was very " fishy" tasting and was an outlier for the rest of the food! The duck confit is two huge pieces and so incredibly good. The jumping squid was a heaping pile of tasty! Whoa. So good. Best thing of he night! The pork ribs were quite tasty. Our table ordered curry shrimp and the spicy beef broth noodles. The curry shrimp were excellent! So good! The soup was labeled spicy and certainly wasn't spicy. It was fine. Nothing amazing, lacked flavor but a nice dish. I won't order it again but it wasn't horrible. Overall we will be back! I've had a couple of absolutely delicious meals here this summer. I'd stayed away for years because I don't eat soy or peanuts and, well, the menu is Asian fusion. It turns out they are very food allergy-friendly, steering me to dishes without the ingredients I avoid or offering substitutions. They have yummy, interesting cocktails and what the servers lack in proficiency they make up for with friendliness and good intentions. It was a tad warm inside this past Saturday but the host and staff were wonderfully welcoming and the food was divine. If I had to sum this place up in one word, it would be FRESH! read more

This place is amazing! We had crab cakes which were light and had a sweet yet spicy sauce, pork belly steamed buns which melted in our mouths and the pickled cukes added a crunch and acidity that balanced the sweet tender pork belly, viet salad which was crunchy and fresh, and carmel chicken wings that were so tender, sweet and spicy in the perfect combination. Pair all that with a Brooklyn IPA and a sweet bordeaux and you have the best dinner out we've had in a long time!! Oh and we won't forget the fresh strawberry almond shortcake! It was my first time in Hudson and I must say I loved every inch of this charming town.. throughout the day I kept hearing about Food studio and my colleague and I decided to check it out. As soon as got in we could feel the energy in the place and the place was nearly completely full. We took the roast two chairs at their community table and said hello to the family eating beside us. We spent a large party of the evening getting to them. They drove 40 mins from the Berkshires just to come eat here. This immediately caught our attention and made us all the more interested in what we should order. I order the duck bao as a starter.. absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. For the main course my colleague got the veg ramen and I got the sesame noodles with pork.. every bit of our meal was excellent. PROS--appetizers are best here--recommend the steamed buns, crab cakes, and ribs--all delicious. You will be happiest if you try a meal of two appetizers. And it's a fun, newish space. Also they finally got a beer/wine license. CONS--main courses are shockingly mediocre: bun cha are average pork meatballs on refrigerator-cold undressed noodles. Tofu and rice noodles are one-note in flavor, spicy, not worth finishing. Caramel chicken is pretty tasty but again, no nuances, and I wouldn't order it again. Also the kitchen is very slow (you'll wait 30 minutes without a scrap of food, consistently) and the waitresses in an utterly slow hipster fog that gets pretty annoying. SUMMARY--if you are going to have a $15-$24 main course without dessert or drinks in Hudson, there are a lot of other Warren St. choices at a much higher level of cooking: Daba's little menu or the cheaper things on its main menu, Helsinki's bar menu or substantial appetizer menu, a Baba Louie pizza, the sushi place Wasabi, Grazin' for a burger, etc. I would mainly return to Food Studio for the sake of novelty when I have been to the more reliable restaurants once too many times--if so, with careful ordering and a laidback attitude, you will be satisfied but not ever impressed. read more

Food and atmosphere deserve 4 stars. Our problem was with our server. Funny how you pick up a person's vibes - she exuded a detached aloofness from the moment she approached our table. When asked a question about a menu item that had been posted on Facebook she did not have an answer, nor did she seek an answer from the kitchen. Our appetizers were delicious - my friend an I were trying to have a conversation since we hardly see each other - we found ourselves having to talk so loudly to each other because the music (Cool-Christmas) was a tad loud. My friend, reluctantly asked her - in such a nice way - if they could just lower it just a bit. She returned to the table with one word - NO. Not - "sorry, it's pre-programmed, yada yada anything....." Just a cold-aloof-detached NO. Okay. Funny, because someone DID lower the music. We finished our delicious dinners - and she came over and asked if there would be anything else... we said no thanks, and she practically threw the check down on the table.... I couldn't help thinking, what if we did in fact want dessert? I don't know if we were getting the bum's rush, or what. It's not like they were packed, there were empty tables around us. She could have said something pleasant - like "thank you" while she placed the check between us. Well, we looked at each other, a bit surprised. And when she brought the change back to the table - she literally slammed the change down on the table and stormed away. I have never been treated like this in a restaurant. I had been really looking forward to trying the Food Studio - I see their menu postings on Facebook quite often, and have been meaning to try it. Like I said the food is quite good. Went here a couple weeks back on a recommendation from a friend expecting something great. Experience was something else entirely. We both got spicy chicken with rice noodles and farm greens. "Yum!" we thought. We could shell out $14 each for that. What showed up was basically what you might call "dorm food". A small bowl of rice noodles with GROUND chicken, a couple tiny pieces of wilted kale, doused with sriracha and topped with shredded carrot. Maybe this is what haut cuisine is these days, but it was a huge let down in our book. The staff couldn't have been more gracious even though the place was packed at 8:45 PM. We ordered the chicken Bao buns, crab cakes, Brussels sprouts and noodles.
