WE went for brunch today. The bartender Joe was warm, and made sure we felt comfortable. My husband and I enjoyed brunch with another couple. I ordered the Cobb salad as did my husband. Our friends ordered the omelet and a salad with some protein. WE had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was lovely. He sent over complimentary dessert. What a lovely treat for a lovely meal. I've been a customer since this Hudson Malone opened, and Amy the hostess and Doug the manager are always all smiles, even calling the day after your reservation to say thanks for coming. So imagine my disgust when I answered Amy's thank you call to tell her I'd gotten food poisoning from a rotten steak tartare, and not only did I get no I'm sorry, she said she'd tell Doug, and I never heard from either of them again. I had explained to her that I'd been worried about the color of the meat as soon as I saw it and asked the waiter to check with the chef about its freshness. I was not offered another plate or a different app, but rather I was told it's perfectly fine, it's just the mayo in the steak tartare. Mayo in steak tartare?? Anyway, against my better judgement I ate it, and was ill through the night and next day. A really bad experience all around. My family, friends and I won't be back. read more

This was quite possibly the worst dining experience I have ever had. I had a reservation last night at for 6:15 for my friend and I. First, our wine was warm, the salad was rushed out with no dressing, and then took quite some time to request. The waiter poured a glass of rosé into a glass of white wine that I asked to replace because it was warm. The sliders came on Hawaiian Rolls which they do not usually come with. The owner clearly instills a sense of fear into his employees as they all appeared frantic and unorganized. It was hard to watch and unpleasant. I would usually not complain about the details but after they rushed us out of the table I had reserved I felt this was something to make known. read more

This place is fabulous...warm, perfect service, the owner stops by to say hello, and the food is FANTASTIC! On a Friday night, we were greeted warmly, seated immediately for our reservation and met with smiling faces. We each had cocktails to start, the wedge salad with tons of blue cheese and bacon and split the cioppino. Oh god, was that good! My wife and I live nearby and come here often for either lunch or dinner. The food and drinks are quite good, but the main thing for us is the vibe of the place which is always happy and welcoming. The bar gets a little loud at times, but we kind of like that. You can easily find quieter tables by asking for seating in the rear. The staff is great and the manager seems to be always on site and keeping an eye on things. We love the place and I recommend it highly. Let's just talk about the food -- not good. We were there tonight for my birthday -- new place in town; let's try it. Martinis were very good, and so were the oysters, but the fried calamari was not good. Then my wife's fish was very good, but my steak poivre was terrible. We took it home to our dog. And the fries were what you get at the beach. We will not go there again. Seems like Westport could support a great restaurant that has great food -- but this ain't it. read more

My wife and I wanted to check this place out for a while and finally had the chance. The staff was very friendly and the manager made it a point to introduce himself and told us a little bit about the restaurant. The lady that took care of our table was outstanding. She continuously checked on us to make sure everything was perfect. The vibe of the restaurant was inviting, comfortable and nostalgic. They have one of the best outdoor seating areas in Westport. The food was fantastic. My wife had the mushroom ravioli and I had the best pork chop ever! The apps were great. We each had a huge prawn and shared the crab cakes. We decided to try Hudson Malone since they have an outside patio covered with plastic and yet open air. Two wall heaters, a gas fireplace and electric foot heaters kept us comfortable (it was a cold night!) and Covid-compliant. From the minute we opened the door we felt so welcomed. What a change from Bogey's and 323 --the interior is stunning! For those comfortable with indoor dining there are Plexiglass panels around each table. Our server was very professional and attentive. The menu very appealing and our dinner was delicious. Beyond delicious food we felt like they were happy to have us dine there. Can't say that about every area restaurant! They even followed up with a call the next day saying how happy they were that we gave Hudson Malone a try. WE WILL BE BACK! read more

My wife, myself and a dear friend enjoyed a great dinner here last evening. I live nearby and I've been hopeful that this new place would live up to my high expectations. In fact it exceeded them! Solid pub menu and also a good steak-house section. Great looking drinks! I had a couple of beers, but the Martini's and other Cocktails being served to other patrons were impeccably prepared and presented. The service is above and beyond what you'll find elsewhere locally. The decor is perfectly done. While the menu and atmosphere are 'casual' this place is not run-of-the-mill. It's far better, more of an upscale experience. I recommend it and will certainly return (probably on a regular basis!). read more

We went to Hudson Malone and had a great experience. Our waitress was not only friendly but funny. I had the steak sandwich and my boyfriend had the Latkes Delmonico. Delicious! I also had a bloody mary and he had a fresh yummy cup of coffee. We will definitely be back and make this a regular spot. read more

We've been there four times and we're nicely surprised with the top notch decor when you step inside. It's not a pub but it is a class act that gives a nod to the best version of a smaller steakhouse or place for comfort food. Absolutely love this place. Both the food and the vibe/ambience are great. Tonight was our 2nd time and enjoyed both meals tremendously. Had the pork chop tonight and was amazing, especially the au poivre sauce. Craft cocktail choices are strong as well and very good bourbon list and selection. Highly recommend. Also, Joe was our server both nights and he was awesome and very attentive, even remembered my kids pickiness and let the kitchen know ahead of time. Paloma cocktail was fabulous. Finally a cocktail worthy of the price tag. We had tomato soup (meh), fried oysters (over breaded and fried to the point of shoe leather), crab cake trio (5% crab, 95% bread crumbs) and the caesar salad (tiny and barely dressed). I'm giving H/M of Westport five stars, despite a couple of missteps. My wife and I went early Friday night. Love the ambiance! Can't wait to sit at the bar. We got the small table right in front of the fireplace. Our waiter, Diego, was great! And the owner and each of his management staff all stopped by to make us feel at home and comfortable. Ok, now to the eats and drinks: My wife's cosmo was made to her specifications perfectly. My red wine was served at a perfectly chilled 63 degrees or so. Our spinach & artichoke dip was great, but could have used a few more chips (the skillet it comes in can serve 2 or 3 folks, but only comes with enough chips for one). Their 14-hour tomato soup is as great as advertised. The little grilled cheese sandwich it comes with was delicious bonus. For my entree I got the pork chop. I'm still dreaming of it! It was out of this world!! Nice kick of pepper. Cooked perfectly. As a side I got the creamed spinach. It was bland and forgettable. My wife got the mini-burgers with fries, and a side of onion rings. (Don't judge! It was our first night out in months!) The the best part of the mini-burgers were the Kings Hawiaan-like buns. The meat was...eh. And they don't come with anything to add any flavor (no pickles, no sauce, etc). They might be good for a kids menu. (Fortunately for my wife, I shared my pork chop with her, much to her delight.) Their fries are great. And the onion rings were Excellent, with a capital E. Considering H/M is still in its first month of operation, we were incredibly impressed and will not hold the creamed spinach and mini-burgers against them. I'm sure they will improve with time. We'll be back sooner than later...we're thinking maybe next weekend! read more
