I have been to this bar once and it was a really an immaculate time and greats drinks were had. However most recently arrived during an off hour with a few patrons. Sat at the bar and tried to order a cocktail for 15 mins to no avail. However we were acknowledged by the bar tender once or twice and the bar back did give us some much needed water. First thing they told us was that the kitchen was closed because they didn't have a cook, so we could only get drinks. While this was a bit disappointing, I was still looking forward to drinks. I'm a sucker for a Tiki Bar so had to pop in for a cocktail here while visiting from out of town. While the ambience was fun, I probably wouldn't go back as I think it's a bit over-rated. It wasn't too crowded so we got a spot at the bar right way (it's a small venue), ordered our drinks and waited a super long time to get them (again, not busy so I wasn't sure what the hold up was.) The drink I got came in a normal tall cocktail glass (I was hoping for a fun cup) & was 90% ice, to me it just wasn't worth $14. This is just an amazing Tiki Bar on the San Antonio Riverwalk. You'll definitely notice it because of the blazing tiki torches. You can sit outside but I highly recommend going in to see the South Pacific setting on the inside. Drinks are good and there is some light food options available. read more

Discovered Hugman's Oasis on our recent Thanksgiving trip to San Antonio. As the tiki gods smiled upon us, we were staying next door at the Drury (an excellent historic hotel btw.). We visited Hugmans 3 different days at 3 different times. The decor is top shelf as far as tiki bars go, complete with torches and a bubbling grotto on the back wall. The outside view of river walk is excellent. The drinks were authentic, fresh and beautifully presented. Our tiki guides of Don Q, Eric and Barbara took great care of us. They spent lots of time with us when they could- working us through the great collection of rums, cocktails and food. The food was also outstanding- we had popcorn chicken and spring rolls. The sauces were made from scratch and very tasty. Big mahalos to our new ohana at Hugman's and we look forward to our next visit! Make sure you call and verify open times and many of the posted times are incorrect. Yelp shows them opening at 4 today and actually it was open at 2. Suck em up! read more

We used to love Hugmans Oasis, and were really looking forward to our visit this past weekend. We live in Corpus Christi, which is a 2.5 hr drive, and made multiple trips between Dec and Feb. We brought friends and family to the bar after we discovered it, who all enjoyed the tiki bar by the river walk. This trip, however, was disappointing to say the least. The entire staff was new, which would be fine if they were attentive. There were more people working, and somehow less assistance with horrible customer service. We had a 9pm reservation, and the table was not ready. When we finally sat down, we waited close to 30 minutes before our waitress even acknowledged us. The AC was clearly broken and we were told it was do to the building being old. We stayed for one round of drinks and due to the length of time it took to get our drinks and how hot it was we decided to go elsewhere. Upon leaving my husband and I were going to grab a few Hugman shirts we saw on display. Two employees were bringing in the host stand and bumped into multiple people in our party without an apology. Then aggressively told our group to wait elsewhere if "we were just waiting on shirts". Overall it was a horrible experience, and unfortunately we don't plan to make another trip to Hugmans. read more
