Just…read morerecently, I took my car in January to repair the clutch actuator in my hybrid and they took 4 months to complete the repair after trial and error. They took on a bigger project than they were qualified for, damaging a part after another, eventually replacing the hybrid battery and transmission. They always had an excuse pushing the deadline on every single inbound call. After applying daily pressure on them on a continuous basis , I finally received my car in April, however, the shop still owes me $583 for one of the car rentals they told me to purchase. I kept calling to retrieve the money but they didn't keep their word and denied paying me back. I could have easily placed a lien on the business for $583 with all the proof to retrieve my money but you know my good heart didn't follow through. Instead, writing this review will sting bigger and is the least I can do for the people. Im an easy going guy but after going through this extensive car repair, we decided to pull away from doing any future business for the wrong doing and unprofessionalism of their actions. I believe it's only right for everyone to hear about this and avoid what I went through, therefore, save yourself a headache. The owner is not a man of his word. This will bake in slowly. P.S. The 1st time I thought all went well, until when he had the car delivered, on the receipt was stamped 6 mos warranty! Well, after I authorized him to repair the transmission....he said that he would give me a 1 year warranty. When I asked him about the 6 mos warranty stamp, he said "no worries they made a mistake....I will honor 1 year." I paid him $3,200 for the job. WHO in their right mind would agree to only a 6 mos warranty after paying that much?! So, the car ran well for about 7 months, then transmission went out. I called him, and had the car towed back over there. He said that " you know it's out of warranty, but I will see what I can do". So now he forgets about what he initially told me! So, he kept my car for another 6 mos......dodging all of my calls, and making up B.S. excuses about why my car wasn't ready! When I got the car back he told me that he would not give me a new warranty! The car ran for another few months....then transmission went out again! Smh SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! 2010 Jetta 2.5L (Oil and Coolant leak, yes we know these cars have their issues)…read more I paid $1,300 for oil and coolant leak repairs. While they did fix the oil leak from the brake vacuum pump (with customer provided part), the rest of the experience was a disaster of poor diagnostics and unauthorized billing. * Unresolved Coolant Leak: Charged to replace the coolant flange, but the car leaked coolant immediately after picking it up. Basically felt like I had to figure the problem out before bringing it back in, and/or I wasn't believed that the issue was still happening. I called back a few days later after coolant level had dropped, was told it was air pockets. Refilled and waited another week. Lost another quart+ of coolant. We park it in the dirt so I placed a tray under the vehicle and caught quite a bit of coolant with an observed active drip a day after the car had been resting (this was all communicated to Kenni with a picture). At this point she said I could bring it in, as I felt like the diagnostic was being pushed onto me to not waste their mechanics time. * Unauthorized Shifter Cable: Replaced a shifter cable during the leak repair completely without my consent or prior authorization. * Defective Recheck & Dismissive Attitude: When I brought the car back, they drove it hot instead of letting it sit cold to locate the drip, then claimed they couldn't find anything. Rather than taking responsibility, they acted like it was my fault for owning the car and made it clear they didn't want to invest any more shop hours into actually solving the problem. * Surprise Diagnostic Fee: Ran a $60 chemical block test without my permission, billed me for it, and still couldn't identify the leak. The owner is personable and gives off a "family-like, straight shooter" vibe at the counter, but that friendly helpful demeanor vanished once things got complicated and time consuming for the shop. The right thing to do would be to offer some kind of refund, but since that was not offered by default for not resolving the issue, I am going to assume this happens more often than not on certain repairs and is not worth my time to fight or challenge other than leaving a detailed review to warn others. Doing unauthorized work, shifting blame to the customer, and leaving a $1,300 bill with an active coolant leak makes it impossible to recommend this shop.

That felt insane to me, so I decided to get a second opinion and took it to Auto Technik instead. I am SO glad I did. I first reached out to them through Yelp, then hopped on a phone call with them, and they were able to take my car in the very next day. After diagnosing it, we were all pretty shocked to find out that what the Toyota dealership said needed to be repaired had actually been misdiagnosed. Jay was able to figure out what was really going on simply by plugging into the car and properly reading the diagnostics. We were honestly appalled that the Toyota dealership hadn't caught it in the first place. So instead of spending $7,500 at the dealership and most likely STILL not fixing the actual problem, Auto Technik was able to properly diagnose and fix my Sequoia for around $1,500. Aside from saving me a ton of money, everyone here was just so nice and communicative with me throughout the entire process.
