This was an utter disappointment. We showed up an hour before close on our last day in Fort Collins. We sat waiting by the register for 10 minutes for someone to help us. The cook just stared at us.. we leaned over as some one was putting away dishes they just stared us. Quite literally no one would come help us. Another couple walked in and they even asked several workers if they could come help them only to be told yeah give it a minutes... My family and I have been frequenting this establishment for many years, and I have to say that Forrest has given us the BEST service since this place has been open. I've been here once before, and couldn't remember a thing about it. It's a great deal for all you can eat, and I'm sure there are great concoctions to be made through creativity. The thing that's awful that I am seeing all over fast casual and fast food is the lack of cleanliness. The floors near the sauce and into the cooking area were sticky and gross, for a feather in the cap the bowls used to gather raw ingredients to bring to the cooking table were not cleaned and thrown back onto the pile to be used again. I'm assuming it's the typical understaffing issue, but people want to eat in a clean environment, oversight would be a welcome addition. I like that you can make anything you want to make. It's important to me to not have allergic reactions- Hu Hot surpasses other restaurants - as long as you tell them you have an allergen- they clean the grill meticulously for you, separating your food from others'. They give you a yellow bowl, so when they see you coming, they will be prepared for you. Tip: bring your cash so you can tip them as you go past the cooks. If you've got a big stomach, and you like buffets, this is a good one. Great chain restaurant, rather. I will always choose this allergy friendly chain for all of my Mongolian BBQ needs! read more

I've been eating Mongolian Barbeque since I was a kid living near an airbase in Japan The Yokota Officer's Club served MBBQ on Thursday nights. We'd load up the bowls and eat until full! What's a traditional style recipe? Pork, cabbage, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, onions. I use soy sauce, Sherry, garlic oil, ginger oil, and sesame oil as my marinade sauce. My plate was left a good 7 mins on the grill before it was flipped. So I pushed aside 3/4 of the plate and went back in line again. I asked the person on the grill please flip at 3 mins (I watched the steam almost fizzle). The girl seemed to think it was funny so I remarked, "the first plate was dry as heck". Then at 6 mins I asked to please plate it and she wanted to keep cooking it so there is "no red". The meats are cut 1/4" thick it does not take 10-12 mins to cook it thru. Poor etiquette and the cook was putting her hand over top of her soda glass then putting hand on grill utensils which are shared - effectively cross contamination defined in servsafe training. We had a great dinner tonight and followed some of the recipe ideas and really enjoyed the food. We wish for sake to come back to the menu. The mussels are really tasty on the dish and I also enjoy the steamed rice I try to go for about three plates if possible and leave very full. The food was fine it really was not out of this world but overall I would return. 5 stars for friendliness, great people and taught us how the place worked and very nice overall. 2 for cleanliness, the restaurant was very messy. The self serve section for ice cream was utterly gross and all the cones were crushed. There were bins on plates near the tables and the bins were gray (originally black) from how dirty it was and overall it just was not that clean of a place. We went to grab forks and some of those forks were dirty too. 3.5 for food because it wasn't anything special. The food seemed straight out of a can and frozen. Family favorite of ours for about the past 9 years. However, the changes "to be more labor efficient" totally made the environment and quality of everything severely decrease. Changes: -No waitstaff. -No appetizer included (but you can have some gross soft serve ice cream, I way prefer the Asian salad they used to offer) -No bar. They took the whole thing out! No fun drinks, just soft options. -Because of the restructuring it feels small and crowded, they added walls, sectioned it off, it was kind of gross in comparison to when they opened. -Grill team seemed less than happy to be there. I get it, it's hard work, but the team has always been having fun and making the work into an experience for guests, always very enjoyable. Same expensive pricing. It was around $42 for two of us with no app's, no liquor, no delicious Asian salad. Honestly sometimes things change for the worse, I would avoid this place. read more

HuHot is at best a community cafeteria grill for $20 per person. If you don't mind tasting the food that is cooked on either side of yours. Also the taste of the dish that was cooked in the place your is now. Oh, did I also mention that there is a 10 to 15 minute wait to get the food cooked. Also, they have taken eggs off the menu since they are saving costs. Eggs are a staple of stir fry. The spatulas are used for at least an hour without cleaning. The grill was not cleaned more than a spritz of water and a quick scrape for the hour we were there. I got fish in one bowl and meat in another. They dumped them together and did not ask if it was alright to cook them together. They just grab and scrape. I also had jalapenos in my dish that I did not put in there. I have a stomach ulcer so the dish was not edible to me. We will NEVER go back. There are MANY better and cleaner places we can eat. Especially for $22 per person. This is not to mention the mix of foods and the brown sprouts that I would not give to my chickens. read more

I try to like this place, used to be a favorite. Last 3 visits have steadily gotten worse. Was there today at 11:30-they opened at 11:00--already out of several vegetables as well as low on meats. The place was almost empty so I am not sure why they were short on ingredients? Workers all gathered around cash register talking. No one came and picked up empty plates, too busy talking at front? Went for my birthday and had a horrible experience. Zero customer service. The vegetables were disgusting and had pieces of Black on them. Cilantro was slimy. This is a total health code violation. I am a bartender and have taken multiple classes on sanitation and cleanliness. I am disgusted! We will never come here again. The restaurant has really gone down hill the past couple of years. First, the staff doesn't seem to be sufficiently trained. Some grill workers do a great job, others do a terrible job. The last time we were there we saw them using a process that caused nearly all of our sauce to just sit on the grill and boil off - they just dumped the bowl on the grill and didn't touch it until they scraped it (literally) onto a plate. It was terrible. In addition, HuHot does frequent promotions where they give you a bonus card when you buy a gift card yet we have yet to use one of those when the hostess actually knew how to ring it up. They try to ring it up as a gift card which doesn't work and they tell us it has a zero balance. We have to argue until they get a manager and then finally the manager figures out how to use it properly. Finally, the staff is slow to replenish ingredients. They are almost always out of beef and at any given time you can find half a dozen items that need to be restocked. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but the past few times we've went the food and overall experience have both been poor. read more

I just went here for the first time last week after moving to Fort Collins 6 months ago. My partner and I absolutely loved it!! It is a large establishment with many booths so you aren't sitting right next to your neighbors while you eat. They have an impressive meat selection, veggie selection and sauce selection to choose from, more than any other Mongolian BBQ place I've been to. They also have a 2 for $22 dinner special on Thursdays from 4-6pm, which was a nice surprise when I went, and a great deal for all you can eat considering most Mongolian places are close to $20 per person to begin with. The one thing I have to note, I was not impressed with the girl working the grill. She looked absolutely bored out of her mind and didn't speak, smile or make eye contact with me once the entire time except for at the end when she missed the bowl with some noodles and they ended up on the counter. She looked at me as she was about to put them back in the bowl, and says "so do you still want these..?" And I was shocked for a sec before I told her, umm no I don't. Thanks. She apologized half heartedly and handed me my bowl. I was stunned, and my partner who has worked in the service industry for 20 years was as well. The counter didn't look necessarily clean, and I have no idea what things people put on there, including money for tips. I definitely don't want noodles that have landed on the counter to go back in my bowl to eat... disgusting. I decided to put this incident aside and not let it ruin the experience for me, and I am looking forward to going back here soon!! read more

The woman at the hosts stand tonight almost denied service to my little sister when she tried to order. She is twelve, which is the age limit for the kids menu. When she ordered the employee answered in a snarky remark. I stood up to her and explained that she was my little sister and we were meeting my friends here. She proceeded to roll her eyes, and we went to a table. After this, I looked behind me and saw this same employee staring and pointing at her with a coworker and this situation made my sister very uncomfortable. It's a big, self-serve, all-you-can-eat Mongolian BBQ restaurant. Lots of meat options, veggie variety and noodles, not to mention the sauce choices. I really do like the HuHot in Fort Collins. The owner is very nice and service is almost always extremely good. I've been to other HuHot restaurants and the proteins are thawed and veggies aren't properly stored...not the case on any of my visits here. Occasionally, the veggies change or aren't available, but that's not deal-breaker for me. My lone complaint is with on-line ordering. We order from here for pick up and/or delivery very frequently as it is my son's favorite place to eat. In all the times we have ordered, we have never had an order that was completely accurate! Usually we get the wrong veggies (e.g.; baby corn instead of corn) or extra veggies and considering it is all you can eat if you go to the restaurant, the portions are extremely small. read more

Let's break it down: Drinks: Decent selection of your favorites, I found plenty of Colorado Brews that I fancy there, you'll do fine :-) Food: Fresh, high quality stuff, well prepared while you watch, pretty neat :-) the different combinations with sauces will keep you coming for awhile still. Pro tip: Don't be shy with scooping on sauces if you want to taste them, you'll want at least 6 ladle-fulls of something, maybe more. Decent selection too, especially in the meat department. If you want to get COVID this is the place for you! The food is good, but they do not enforce the mask mandate--at least 3 people standing in line at the grill had masks but not actually covering their nose and mouth and not standing 6 ft apart. We were in that situation for quite a while. When I mentioned this to the manager as I was heading out the door, he didn't seem to care even though he could clearly see the individuals in question. Perhaps a visit from the health department would convince him to care. Otherwise I would (and will) steer clear of this restaurant in Ft Collins.
