No worries; it's worth waiting for. She gave me a pager, and we watched the chickens while we waited for our 4 soft birria tacos. As always, it was worth the wait. The burria was plentiful, with cilantro and diced onion, on the tacos. The flavor was excellent, especially with their tomatillo salsa and a squeeze of fresh lime. Glad to see the sliced radish, the pickled jalapeño and (oh, man) the marinated carrot slices! As if that isn't good enough, we also got a burria burrito to go. Now, we have something to feast on tomorrow. Mucho Bueno!

Let's start by saying, they pulled into the pole position of my most delectable Mexican food bite and place in Hawaii (albeit only had on Oahu and Maii, lol). My order: Chorizo Burrito Bowl and maaayynnn Thai thing was loaded. Starts with a layer of rice, beans, chorizo, green and red cabbage, pico de gallo, avacado, topped with chipotle aioli. Then on the side is a lime, pickled carrots, jalapeño, radish, and I chose spicy salsa. The bowl is huge,, and i stuffed my face and finished every bite haha; it goes to say hot great it was. The rice and beans are a perfect layer of goodness, the crunch from the fresh veggies, that smoky and spicy (light) of the chorizo, richness of that avacado, and finished off with that nice creamy aioli. Then I hit it with the kick or the lime and extra spice of the salsa. I'm in heaven. Oh then add side tart, tangy, and crunchy bites of the pickled veg. Waaaaawhoooo was my tummy happy. I'd like to say, I want to come back and all their other options such as their soft and questo tacos or biria. However as I am not in Maui much, probably going back for my home run. Hopefully next time someone else is with me so I can try their choices haha. The staff were friendly and food came out in good time. They are located on the back side of the food truck area, so don't pass them by if you just jump into the main area. Definitely recommend them for all who havent.

Sergio's Tacos is a new food truck located at "Da Tambayan Corner" food truck lot in Kahului near…read morethe Kahului Library. Their big blue truck can't be missed as they are located right on the corner. They serve up a handful of Mexican favorites from tacos to burritos, quesadillas, menudo, and even a taco salad. What piqued my interest was one of their specialty items that was marked available on Saturdays and Sundays only -- their birria ramen. No one has this available on their menu regularly (that I know of) so if you've been wanting to try it... this is the spot. When I stopped by the food truck lot again for lunch, I was happy to see that it was actually one of their specials that was available so I didn't have to wait for the weekend. It didn't have a price on it on the specials board so I was a little shocked when my total came out to $19. (Their regular menu says $12, so not sure if it was served differently that day?). My order came out quickly and I was happy to see that it came with limes and 3 tortillas. It reminded me of how my birria taco order came when I was in LA. One bite and I must say it was pretty tasty. The broth had good flavor and the meat was very tender. Don't forget to squeeze in the limes for an extra hit of flavor; it makes all the difference! While it tasted good, I could have honestly done without the ramen. I would rather eat it all as just a soup, haha! Overall though, I enjoyed it and am glad I finally got to try it. The price was a little on the steep end, so it won't be something I have regularly. My coworkers who got their crispy tacos enjoyed their meal as well. The family that owns is truck is from Jalisco, Mexico so I definitely look forward to exploring the menu more and tasting some authentic Mexican flavors and food. Parking is available on the Kahului Library side and a really nice covered eating area with ample tables and seating is available. Some evenings they even do karaoke at the food truck lot.

This spot seemed to have great reviews so we thought we'd try it. I haven't eaten a lot at food trucks mostly because every time I go looking for a food truck it's not where it says it is, but I digress except to say this food truck wasn't where the Yelp map takes you so it took a few minutes to find. (It's on the hill opposite to where the Yelp directions put it.) She was close to closing so was only offering what she had on the chalkboard menu which was a bummer as some of the other options looked good, and I always like to try more than one thing to give a review. I got the fish taco and my husband got the shrimp taco. They were ok. Service was friendly, she answered all our questions, gave us everything we needed to eat in the car as it was too hot to sit on the lone bench in front of the food truck. So no loss of points there. Your only choices for drinks were either Pepsi or Orange Crush in a can. Not a big deal, but still. The tacos were a decent size. The shrimp were large and overfilled the tortilla. Hubby said it was good. My fish was seasoned well on the outside but kind of dry and flavorless on the inside. All of the toppings were very fresh and had great flavor. But, both my husband and I couldn't eat the taco like a taco as the flour tortilla fell apart pretty quickly from the juicy toppings. Kind of messy when having to eat in the car. So we ate most of the taco with a fork and had a leftover soggy tortilla. Maybe a corn tortilla would have been a better way to go? And, in the end we were still kinda hungry. Would I go back? Maybe. Not sure if it was because it was the end of the day and it was close to closing. We're in town for a few more days so we'll see. Wish I could give 3.5 stars because the service was good, the flavors were there, but the execution not so much.

The burger is only available as a combo for about $25, the fish tacos were $36, fries are $7 (and unfortunately not very memorable), and the restaurant adds a 7.5% service fee before prompting for an additional gratuity. By the time everything is totaled up, what looks like a casual lunch turns into a very expensive meal. If you're looking for a splurge, the food is fine. If you're expecting a laid-back burger-and-taco spot with reasonable prices, you may experience some sticker shock. I'd happily come back for the food if the value proposition were better, but next time I'd probably look elsewhere for lunch.

Okay, I could eat here daily…read more The line was long, but it gave us plenty of time to study their billboard-sized menu. We ordered the two fish tacos and an order of coconut shrimp. The fish tacos were massive. The fish had good flavor, although it leaned a little on the dry side for me. The coconut shrimp, however, were my favorite thing we tried. Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We happened to arrive between their two happy hour windows, and while looking at the menu, we noticed that coconut shrimp were also available during the second happy hour along with other small plates. What I found odd was their happy hour policy. Apparently, you can only order from the happy hour menu if you've already purchased an entree and can show your receipt. I've never encountered that anywhere else, and it seemed like a strange business concept. Also, it is not posted anywhere that I saw. When my husband went back to order from the happy hour menu, the cashier asked if we had previously ordered food. He said yes, but our receipt was back at the table. For some reason, she had to go to the back to get approval before allowing him to order. It felt a bit awkward, especially since she was the same cashier who had taken our original order when we first arrived and we asked a bunch of questions, so I would def remember someone like me. lol That policy aside, the coconut shrimp were fantastic. I'd definitely come back for those alone.
