Food was as fresh as could be. This was a highlight of Hana for us. Will always be a stop when we visit again

A lot full of food trucks and Troy's was the only food truck open at 10am and it was SO SO SO GOOD!!! One of our best meals hands down! Troy was so nice, friendly and helpful. He explained all his food he prepares himself fresh (fishing done by him too!!). We tried the fish and chips and a lunch plate (chicken and pork bbq) and EVERYTHING was delicious! We can not wait to go back to try more of what he offers. Do yourself a favor and try Troys when you're in the Hana area. read more

This was my favorite part of my Road to Hana trip. Troy's wife is super nice. Glowing with kindness The food is here hands down amazing. Way better than the Road to Hana Stuffed fish, Troy catches the fish himself and stuffs it with delicious things Pork is full of flavor and still has me thinking about it Coconut shrimp isn't anything too special but they do it right Fish and chips, they use bread fruit instead of potatoes. It was an interesting thing to try but it was all good There was also some papaya salad in a tiny cup. In our quest to drive thru Hana, we were looking for food after having stopped at the Black Sand Beach for like 4 hrs. We were actually coming here to eat at another place, but it turns out this is a little food stall type of place with multiple food options. There was a fish and seafood type place, a Mexican place, coffee place, a shaved ice place, and this place I ended up ordering from. The lady working the counter was super friendly. I asked her what their specialties are. And she went thru about 3 or 4 dishes. Eventually helping me chose their BBQ pork dish. They served it to me right there on the spot with no wait. I also ordered a passion orange drink and total bill eith tip (lady was so nice and helpful), came out to a little over $21. Food portion is huge!! Lots of shredded pork. Sauce is amazing. Pork is tender. All over a bed of white rice. Just sitting their soaking up all that yummy goodness, making sure no excess sauce goes to waste. Macaroni salad was good too. There's bench style seating all over the place. A somewhat large gravel parking lot to the side. So even though you see the limited parking off the road, don't fret there's more around the corner. A nice atmosphere and vibe. My friend says the fish and seafood cart was also really good. I would recommend stopping here, to get some food, stretch the legs and take a quick break along the road to Hana. Only thing it's missing is a public bathroom. But a must stop along the road to Hana. read more

Possibly one of the best places you can stop for lunch on the Road to Hana (if you make it on a Tuesday or Wednesday!). The lady working there was super friendly and gave us great suggestions to try. The stuffed fish fillet was one of the recommendations - was not expecting it to be fried but it was very good and flavorful. The bbq pork plate was also delicious but slightly too sweet for my liking. Overall the quality and taste of the food was a 10/10! read more

After travelling Hana Hwy all day, hiking multiple spots and just being Hangry.. we stumbled upon this spot. Located on the side of the street with a few other vendors, he had a pretty long line and it all looked really good. As I am writing this review from Las Vegas my mouth is watering wishing I was eating this plate of food again. I was really hungry and it was really good. The owner catches his fish locally and it was all fresh. I got the stuffed fish, salad and pork. Wow, so good. I highly suggest if you are in the area and like food to check it out. If for some reason, you don't like what he has, there are other vendors there are well. But damn, it was good. read more

Have to say.. I had the bbq pork plate and it was the tastiest and leanest pork I've had in a long time. The brown rice was good and the Mac salad was delicious. My husband had the fish tacos and he has been eating a lot of those since we got to Maui. He said Troy's was the best he's had. Wow! OMG! The food here was AMAZING! After whole morning at red sand beach, we picked this place for lunch & each ordered different items. Fish & chips: freshly caught by Troy, the owner. I was told it was one of the best. Burger with Hawaiian deer meat (sorry I forgot the name of the burger) looked & smelled so yummy. The boy inhaled it. I ordered a mixed plate that someone shares on Yelp before. Both their chicken & pork were great! Sandwich - forgot the name too... new item on their menu, also with couple of options, including there vegetarian. We ordered the one with meat. OMG, so good! I like it even better than my mixed plate! lol Both owners are very friendly. They also have plenty of well spaced outdoor seating area with sanitizing station right by their ordering window. We were starving after driving the Road to Hana and looked up reviews of local food places and ended up choosing Troy's because of the rave reviews, and boy are we glad we did. This place had the best food out of anywhere we ate on our 8-day trip it was THAT good. I had the chicken katsu plate with Mac salad and we also got the fish and chips (the chips are fried pineapple pieces - so good!). Everything was cooked to perfection and the seating area outdoors was also perfect. Can't wait to come back again! read more

After an early morning and long drive from Wailea to experience the Road to Hana, this was the perfect way to end our trip. The service was so great, Diane, who took our order was the SWEETEST! We ordered the Vegetable Curry which was vegan and delicious and the Kalau Pork Tacos which were the special of the day - they were out of this world. Great portions, too! One of the cars in our crew had a flat tire and Troy called a friend to help us with our car. We had to wait a bit and then ordered the Moco Loco which also phenomenal. Troy's is a must! read more

Stopped by Troy's as a last stop before spending the night in Hana town (took the reverse way to Hana). It was the only food truck that was open at 5ish and we were grateful they stayed open to accommodate our last minute closing order. By the end of the day, they'd sold out of most items but they still had katsu chicken and it was surprisingly juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside! Very tasty! Their Mac salad also wasn't overly mayo'd out which I appreciated. We're planning on swing by again in the morning on our way out of town. Mahalo! read more

We ended up here because the popular and high Yelp-rated Braddah Hut's was closed... On a Saturday. LOCATION: Koki Beach. Look for the small hut with the neon "open" sign. ATMOSPHERE: The open-air hut has a gravel/dirt floor. The food is served out of hot trays on one side with table seating for about 15 on the other side, along with a separate gazebo off to the side which can seat about 6 comfortably. The ambiance is very relaxing and peaceful. Very clean and no insect problem. MENU: Chicken, pork, shrimp, fish. FOOD: BBQ Pork - $10 bought me a nice portion of tender pork. The pork wasn't seasoned much and relied mainly on the drizzled-over BBQ sauce for flavor, something I'm not a fan of. I like barbecued meats that are marinated. The single scoop of rice was a little mushy which is better than dried out, and the macaroni-pea salad was a bit thin and runny; not the best I've had but definitely not the worst either. RESERVATIONS: Definitely not taken as it's a food stand with seating. SERVICE: The owner Troy was very friendly, welcoming, and professional. He was serving and cashing. Ditto for the the lady working with him who I'm assuming was his wife. TIP: Cash only. OVERALL: Decent food, good portion sizes, nice ambiance, great service. read more

Overall a pretty good choice amongst the food trucks here! The staff is very friendly, and the food was good. We got the Korean BBQ Chicken and the Loco Moco. The Korean BBQ Chicken came with a lot of food, two big pieces of chicken, with rice underneath as well as more rice on the side, and I got this with macaroni on the side as well. The macaroni was a great choice and very good. There was a lot of rice overall though which I wasn't able to finish all of. I would totally recommend their Korean BBQ Chicken. The Loco Moco is definitely more of a personal taste, I do not think I would get it again but that's just of my opinion, it's a pretty heavy meal. It was prepared well! Troy's is well worth the visit. We found it by chance, but I would absolutely go back, if we had more time in Hana. The stuffed fish and the fish and chips, both made with ono caught by Troy, were perfectly fried with a panko crust. The ulu fries, papaya slaw and macaroni salad made for a nice well rounded meal. I really enjoyed my lunch from Troy's today and also it was great to chat with him because he personally spearfished the tako (octopus) and parrotfish that I ate! The tako poke, Hawaiian style, was delicious and an improvement over the tako poke I get in stores because Troy's version is so much more flavorful. The parrotfish was also great and I had it with some delicious Mac salad. Thankfully I skipped breakfast so I had room for both dishes. As I mentioned, chatting with Troy was also a highlight because he's got a lot of local knowledge about the ocean and he was happy to share stories and pictures of his spearfishing excursions. read more

Best plate lunch we experienced on the island. So yes it takes some time and effort to get to Hana...but if you want delicious Hawaiian plate lunches, this spot is well worth it. Had the loco moco and WOW!! They were so happy and friendly as well, which just made the experience that much more pleasant. Loved the little picnic area they have outside to eat as well. read more

Troys hit the spot! Island size food with memorable flavor and unique food combinations made for a meal we definitely want to repeat! We stopped into the parking lot to see what the food trucks had after batting zero at several other restaurants on a weekday. Troys was the great find of the day! We had the enormous burgers served with perfectly cooked fries, the vegetable curry plate, and the Teriyaki chicken plate. It was recommended that we try the Ulu fries, a local type Breadfruit that tastes like a Spanish sliced tostones. It's in the jackfruit family and protein rich! They were so very good and served up with a side of curry aioli that was perfect. I definitely recommend trying troys for a quick but scrumptious and filling meal! read more

Chef prepared food by the side of the road. Lunch plate special is $10 and includes your choice of meat, rice, and salad. I tried the orange chicken, which was good. They also had on special a fried fish stuffed with shrimp that my partner tried. He said it was very tasty. However, none of it was freshly prepared...it was stored in those rectangular serving tins you see at buffets. There are other food trucks at this place if you want to try different fish or grilled items. Only one or two take credit cards. We had enough cash, but if we hadn't, owners said they'd let us eat and then trust us to come back after visiting an ATM down the street. You can also get fresh organic produce and popsicles here. If you want inside tips on where to go in the area, ask the Venezuelan woman at the popsicle stand. Do keep in mind this is literally on the side of the road. Just picnic tables. However upon driving through Hana, my guess is you won't find many places that are indoors or have any kind of ambiance. read more

In 30 years of my life I've never tasted Fish and Chips as good as this. Troy and his wife were so nice and informational with their food as we are tourists and we were unfamiliar with some of the foods. Troy speared the fish "ParrotFish" we ate that morning and it WAS AMAZING! Tasted so fresh and cooked perfectly. He also used "Breadfruit" for the fries and it was soooo good! It felt like we were being healthy eating "Fries" so that was a plus LOL. I want to come back to Hana just for his food Haha. There are other food trucks around. Walk right past them and go to Troys.
