I loooove love love Hula Hut! Firstly, I love a lakeside restaurant, except the outdoor area is literally on a pier over the lake. The vibes are wonderful even in the heat of the summer. It's a great spot for chips and salsa and drinks, or just dinner. The food is always consistent and delicious. There's plenty to eat and have leftovers.

We had such a fun experience at Hula Hut. We sat outside by the lake and it was the perfect setting with the fans going and a really beachy relaxed vibe. It felt like a mini vacation. I ordered the chicken enchilada and it was massive. Honestly big enough to share. It was super cheesy which I personally loved but my friend thought it was a little too much cheese. Definitely something to keep in mind depending on your preference. The service was good and the overall atmosphere really made the meal. Between the lakeside view and the laid back energy it is a great spot to hang out and enjoy a meal with friends.

Hula Hut Austin is a great spot with a nice lake view. The Hula Platter was delicious and definitely a highlight. Cocktails are good, and the service was good as well, making the overall experience enjoyable.

Aloha y'all! Enjoying a prime slice of boat- or drive-in waterfront property on Lake Austin, Hula Hut has been serving some inspired Tex Mex (Polynesian infusion - check the Coconut Shrimp!) for over 25 years. Although I'm usually avoiding the temptation of chips & queso (if I'm IN, I'm ALL the way), a recent visit has proven it's possible to eat moderately healthy while still enjoying myself. Halle was bright-eyed and on it, keeping cups & baskets filled, no needs unmet, service with a smile. The Homemade Chicken Tortilla Soup is made with a rich broth, fresh cilantro and excellent avocado. With or without margaritas, you'll enjoy the food and a beautiful view!

This place was pretty good. Service was quick and friendly. Cute hula decor. I ordered a bbq pork sandwich with steamed broccoli. Good flavors. A ranch water to drink. My son and his gf ordered nachos and my bestie ordered an enchilada that was the size of a burrito. Interesting menu had a mix of Mexican with an Asian flair. I would go back here.

The food and service were good the hand made tortillas were so good and so was the chips and salsa. Super nice view with great atmosphere.

Appetizer: Chips and Queso Entree 1: Texas Nachos! (crisp corn tortillas topped with refried beans, mixed cheese, lettuce, pico de gallo & jalapeños) Entree 2: Pipeline Enchiladas (I think this was with fajita beef) I was a bit nervous trying here, because I thought everything would have a Hawaiian twist on it, but that's not the case. Whilst enjoying the view of Lake Austin, I was also able to enjoy the food. Having great service on top of the great food was nice to have. This restaurant is right on the water where you can get a spectacular view of the lake no matter where you sit or stand.

Amazing view! Good drinks! Mid food.. Horrible parking.. I finally made a visit to this restaurant which has ample indoor and outdoor seating and was taken in by the great view! However, my food on the other hand didn't compliment these views. I ordered Montego Bay Shrimp Taco which included crispy fried shrimp with red cabbage, fresh cilantro & jalapeño-lime sauce in flour tortillas. You may as well say I ordered a red cabbage taco because the amount of cabbage on this taco was way more than what was needed. I had to make sure the shrimp were there and that they weren't trying to hide anything placed on my food. I actually didn't really enjoy my food because of this. I also ordered a frozen Watermelon Mojito which was good but the waiter brought me my drink in a broken cup. I'm pretty sure this wasn't the last cup so why even give this to a customer. He kept saying it's just missing the ring for it to close tightly but didn't replace the cup after I inquired. Nonetheless, I finished my drink without it spilling. It's not a must I go back but if I do, maybe the experience will be different. Glad I was able to check it out.

What a fun spot! This makes us feel like we are back to living in Florida. We enjoyed tiki cocktails here on a hot summer night overlooking the lake. It was so beautiful! Service was good and drinks were good, but not amazing. We are tiki drink snobs and these were just fun vacation/pool type drinks - not specialty cocktails. We each had a drink and chips and salsa and just enjoyed the weather. They also have big fans blowing which is nice. Great ambiance - will be back! Free parking across the street too!

It was my friend's bday and she chose the spot. We were glad that she did. We all commented how long it had been since we visited. The weather was perfect. Who doesn't love Hula Hut on a beautiful day?!? The parking is free so you can't complain but it took a long time to find a spot. One friend even had to valet because she couldn't find a spot. At least, there is that option. :) It was a Saturday afternoon, so it was expected to be busy. There was also some sort of car show at Mozart's, which I'm sure added to the busy parking lot. The view from our table was great! The chips and salsa came out quickly. One of the best parts of our lunch was Dylan, our waiter. He was kind, funny, and responsive. He checked in on us and made sure we had everything we needed. He brought our friend a fun bday treat and even took a great photo of our group. I didn't get a picture of my food because I was having such a good time catching up and chatting with friends. I did get a great pic of my margarita! Next time, it won't be so long between visits. :)

Staff was super friendly. Food came out hot and fast. I love an individually dressed nacho. Dog friendly patio. They even brought him a pup cup! Views and vibes are unbeatable. Perfect for an afternoon of pretending you are on a tropical vacation

Decided to head over to Hulu Hut since the weather was beautiful on a Sunday afternoon. We were well prepared for there to be a wait and walked around the area, watched the boats and wandered down to Mozarts to listen to some live music while we waited. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive throughout our meal. She even gave my son a free tortilla when she saw us standing over by the station watching them make the tortillas while we waited for our meal. And the tortillas were delicious! Homemade, right there, and you can tell. The two salsa they brought out were yummy, the pineapple/jalapeño was my favorite. My son got the kids quesadilla with beef and it was VERY large for a kid's meal- we ended up taking 1/2 of it home. I ordered the fried avocado tacos. Again, portions were generous and the sauce on the side added even more flavor. The cabbage on top was fresh and crisp. My husband got the fajita beef enchilada and said the beef was super tender and the spices and flavor were perfect. The atmosphere is great for people watching whether you are seated inside or outside. You can tell the building has been around for a while and there is a lot of wear and tear but that's what makes it a unique Austin staple.

Is there long wait for weekend dinner time?

Yes almost an hour because it is a tourist attraction.

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor sitting area?

    Dogs are allowed!

    Do they have happy hour?

Ever hour is happy hour at the Hula Hut!!!

    Dogs allowed on patio?

Based on their website, dogs are not allowed on the patio unless it's a service animal

    How's the Queso?

Queso was tasty but I wouldn't go there just for that. It's not the best in Austin but it isn't bad either.

For our entrées, we had Brian's Alambre Plate, the Chicken Mole, and the Line Cook's Snack Plate. Brian's Alambre Plate combines sirloin, pork pastor, house-made chorizo, and bacon with peppers, onions, and melted Jack cheese. It was good and certainly offers plenty of variety and flavor. For my personal taste, though, if I am primarily craving meat, I prefer Eldorado's Carne Guisada. There is nothing wrong with the Alambre, I just think the Carne Guisada is the stronger choice for me. The Chicken Mole is my wife's favorite, and unfortunately it is only offered as a special late on Thursdays. The house-made mole has a rich, distinctive flavor that works very well with the chicken, and it is easy to understand why she looks forward to it. The Line Cook's Snack Plate was also a great combination with two flautas, a choice of Chicken Caldo or Texas Red, Eldorado rice, and guacamole salad. It is a nice option when you want a little bit of several things rather than one large entrée. Overall, another very enjoyable meal at Eldorado Cafe. Overall, I loved the steak and was impressed with the quality of the food! A couple of things could be improved, though. Some of the light fixtures hang way too low, so if you're tall, be careful! Somehow I'd never been despite living so close, so I was excited to finally check it off my list. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and their famous foyer is just as pretty in person as everyone says. I came with a friend, and we grabbed seats at the bar first while waiting, but I definitely recommend making reservations because this place is BUSY, even on a weeknight. Parking can also be a bit of a struggle since they have a pretty small lot. I had to make a few laps before I finally found a spot, so definitely give yourself a little extra time. They do offer valet, and I believe you may also be able to park in the lot next door after hours since it's their sister restaurant, but don't quote me on that haha. Their margaritas are also really good and definitely on the stronger side, so they were a great way to start the meal. The staff here was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. They even walked us to our table and later showed me where the bathroom was, which I thought was a really nice touch. As for the food, it definitely lives up to the hype. It's on the pricier side, but everything tasted incredibly fresh and was well worth it. We ordered the enchiladas, which were delicious, and the shrimp was probably my favorite part of the meal because it was so fresh and perfectly cooked. I can definitely see why this restaurant has been around for so long and has such a loyal following. It took me way too long to finally come here, but I'll definitely be back. One thing I'm noticing as we do these is that you often write reviews that are genuinely useful--not just "food good/bad." You include things like reservations, parking, what to order, or where to sit. I think we should keep leaning into that because it feels very authentic to your style and makes your reviews stand out.
