Great burger and love the crinkle cut fries. Garlic burger was perfectly cooked and loaded with pickles, onions, lettuce and tomato. The bun is slathered with garlic but it's a gentle flavor not overpowering. They have table service even when you sit out on the patio (walk up window for to-go orders). There is a drive-thru and inside dining. The young lady who served us was polite, friendly, efficient and checked on us multiple times. Overall a great 2nd visit (failed to review after first visit). Awesome place to stop for any meal if you are cruising through Escalon on your way to wherever you may be heading. Sits right on Hwy 120, easy place to stop. Well done Hula staff! Solid 5 stars!!

Food was delicious with a generous amount of crinkle fries (I love crinkle fries!). Ice cold beers hit the spot. Staff was friendly and very attentive. They gave us complimentary soft serve ice cream!

Unfamiliar with the area, I did a quick Yelp app search for local small business food and Hula's was one of the first restaurants that popped up. I asked the mom of the friend I drove up with who grew up in the city and currently lived here, and she said it was a really good place - perfect! I mean, the name itself was enough for me to want to try it. I have been wanting to stop here and try it out for so long and I finally did. It was great! A lot of options and the food was delicious. Great spot for a quick burger or sandwich. The staff is very friendly and fun. Very cool spot for breakfast or lunch.

We loved our visit to Hula's! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Everyone was super friendly, and to top it off, they surprised us with a free cup of soft serve at the end -- such a nice touch. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Escalon! We stopped on our way home from Yosemite!

We've lived in Escalon for a bit over 3 years, and it's really nice to have a classic burger joint in town. I've tried nearly every burger on the menu...my favorites are the Escalon and the Cowboy. Didn't care too much for the Teriyaki...but that may be just my tastes. The kids always love the free little taste of ice cream we get at the end...it's a really nice touch! My wife and I had dinner here about a year ago and the waitress (I think she was the owner) forgot us for a bit and the service took longer than usual. We didn't mind...we weren't in a hurry. She was very apologetic and actually gave us a check with our dinners complimentary! While it was a nice gesture, we couldn't accept it and gave her a tip equal to that of our dinners. read more

First time here while meeting with a client in Escalon. Love the vibe of the place, waitresses were super friendly and prompt. Menu had a great variety and I love the fact they serve breakfast all day and night! Had one of their burgers (can't remember the name), but it was the one with Avocado and jalapeños and it was delicious! Great food, great service, super cute waitresses, and great prices! This is for their grilled chicken salad. Soooo delicious!!! I ordered it to go! It was beautiful and perfectly rationed, not just lettuce and a random cherry tomato and a couple slices of cucumber. There's shaved ribbon carrots, sliced avocado, red onion rings, a mix of romaine and iceberg, plenty of grilled chicken, and slices of tomato, red cabbage ribbons, and sliced mushrooms. I LOVE hula's! This place is the bomb! I love the Hawaiian state of mind and the excellent selection of burgers! Plus, they have wonderful free wifi and a pet friendly patio. The moment we sat down outside, the waitress immediately ran out with a bowl of water and a cup of treats for our dog. This place's hospitality is a 10! I love hulas, and it will be a frequent stop on the way to the Sierra Nevadas. read more

Hula's is a great place for lunch or breakfast served any time of day. The portions are large and the fries and onion rings are crispy. The breakfast burrito or chicken fried steak make for a good weekend breakfast or a knockout burger and some garlic fries are a personal favorite for a good dinner. Staff can easily get overwhelmed since it's a popular spot but they remain friendly and helpful. Also the milkshakes are made with real ice cream and taste freakin' awesome! read more

Our Daughter and her family recently moved to Escalon, great little town. They introduced us to Hulas and we are hooked. We come from Modesto for breakfast and on occasion Lunch. Very nice family oriented resturant, friendly servers and so far every meal we have had has been outstanding. Try their knockout burger, the best and is always good with garlic fries. read more

Ok ok and ok. We need to make this right. Our first review was 4/5. The time to update is now. We find ourselves traveling thru Escalon each week and stop regularly. We have tried about. 1/2 the menu. We are always greeted and treated well when we arrive. The staff is helpful and very friendly. I suggest that u forgo the burgers (which are exceptional) and explore the remainder of the menu. There have been some outstanding surprises. Now you must expect these are in large NOT DESIGNED TO BE HEALTHY. But get past the salad stigma but you can make some healthier decisions if that is your direction. I've gained a few pounds in the last months. I suspect the complimentary ice cream at the end of the meal. (Haha wink wink). Anyway it isn't often we upgrade but getting past one experience with dirty settings to several visits with exceptional service, food and consistency and a very comfortable rustic diner atmosphere needed to be acknowledged. We have only been to Hula's twice, but we love it! We just recently moved to Escalon and truthfully there isn't much of a selection here of places to eat. We tried Hula's one night and wow! The food was excellent, the service was fantastic and we loved the free ice cream at the end, not alot, but just enough to top off a great meal. A couple of weeks later my son and I went back and the same waitress was there, she remembered us from our first visit and was extremely friendly. I would say the price point is a little high, which is why we don't go more often since we are on a tight budget. However, we will definitely be back. The food is great, the burgers are huge, juicy and delicious. The salad is fabulous and we haven't had anything but great service! read more

Decided to try after driving by numerous time. WOW the burgers are fantastic and actually a meal! I like the idea of someone waiting on you and bringing your meal to you. As for noise, we were there the same night as the car club. We loved it because they were playing oldies and got to look at some really cool old cars. It you want quiet, go somewhere else. I like the idea of having someone come and take our order and bringing to us. Our server came by several times to see how we were, refilled our drinks. Having the little taster of the soft serve ice cream hit the spot. Look folks...if you want McDonalds then go there. This is a local joint, not corporate If you get something served that you don't like after the first bite take it back. I am sure that they will try to make the experience better for you. We will be back but will leave room for some more of the ice cream! read more

Stopped here on the way back from the mountains- 100 degree weather Had a great patio with misters to keep you cool- dog friendly- they brought out individual fresh waters for both our dogs- quick friendly service- BLT was amazing- great fries and yummy pineapple shake- we will be back! read more

Stopped for a quick dinner on our way home from camping. Ordered BLT on sourdough- add avocado. Hubby got a chili cheese dog. Hamburger for our daughter. We ordered to go. BLT came with no avocado (that I paid extra for) bread was toasted to a crisp like biting through cardboard- bacon was two pieces torn in half (guess that makes 4?) one tomato, one piece of lettuce. $10 sandwich folks. Went with a salad instead of fries, never got the dressing, salad is lettuce with tomato, no fork, couldn't eat it. Beyond unimpressed! Hamburger was fine, fries ice cold no one ate them. Chili cheese may have been good, but without a fork to eat it with in the car, we've yet to find out. Took nearly 30 mins to get our food. Will never be back. read more

Driving back from the Bay Area we thought we would stop at Hulas because our neighbors said it was good. My wife and I both ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. We live in Oakdale so we grab the goods and headed home because of Covid-19 theres no indoor or outdoor seating. Once home we opened our dinner, mine had NO bacon so we ate. I must say for a $10+ burger we were very disappointed. Expected much better flavor, we regretted not going to In n Out. Probably never will go back. I really wish the veggies were a little bit more crisp because to me that makes a huge difference. I tried my husbands burger which was super spicy but it was pretty good. The fries were not my favorite but I am going to go back and try them again. read more

Just stopped at this place passing through with my family. We made a great choice. And the kids meals were a lot of food I thought, for the price. My husband and I were also stuffed, we each got a burger with a garden salad in the salad was huge. Milkshake was amazing as well. At the end of our meal we were surprised to find out we each got a small free soft serve ice cream! Fun loving atmosphere and great food, I would highly recommend this place. read more

Hula was the best decision we made that weekend. After 2 days of backpacking 6 miles each way, we were driving home and hungry! After looking through yelp, a burger sounded like it would hit the spot. Little did we know just how AMAZING it was!! Holy, I inhaled it so fast i didn't even take a picture (that's rare). I had the knockout (so did many of my friends). If I ever come by this way again, I'll definitely be stopping by! read more

The best place to eat in Escalon! The food was brought out very fast, fresh, and delicious. Our waitress Patty was helpful and extremely nice. Probably the best customer service I've had at restaurant in a long time. They do have a patio. It is cery dog friendly. It is fenced in, has a water bowl, and my dog also got a treat! I highly recommend stopping here to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner! read more

Dropped in after a day on Lake Don Pedro. Was expecting a simple burger and fries, maybe a shake. Turns out Hula's was phenomenal. The burgers were large, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The fries were fresh, with both peeled or unpeeled styles. The service was excellent- a much appreciated and welcome surprise. We will definitely be back- Hula's will be our stop each time we head to the lake. read more

I actually posted a review last night about Hulas but it was actually the wrong burger joint I went to another burger joint that had bug issues and Accidentally typed Hulas instead of the right burger joint I apologize and every time I've ever eaten there it has always been great food I give it five stars I would recommend it to anybody!!! We offer 24 hamburgers using fresh juicy ground Beef, starting at 1/3 up to 1lb. And serve breakfast all day. Large outdoor, pet friendly patio with beer and wine service and easy parking. As a treat, with every meal you get a complimentary ice cream dessert. You can't beat the old time frosties! Our soup, chilli and gravy are all scratch-made. We also have free wi-fi. We have a drive-thru if you don't want to dine in or you can phone your order in and pick it up at the drive-thru.

History

Established in 2006.

At times, the servers have orders from dine in, phone in, drive through, patio diners and walk up diners. It can get hectic sometimes and it may take a few minutes to get served, but it's definitely worth the wait.. In the summer, we host hot rod car shows every friday night 5pm-8pm, from May to Sept. We average 50-100 collectible cars.

Closed for the day, the week, be more specific. This was a waste of time and gas, so disappointing.

Review based on customer service. Staff was behind counter gossiping while we waited 10 minutes for someone to come out and take our order. As soon as we got up to leave one of the girls came out to finally get our order but we left anyway, considering their customer service. All we wanted was a cheeseburger and a corn dog and waited in 100 degree weather without even being offered water. Would give 0 stars if I could. Edit for Owner: We stood at the front counter and then was told to sit down. An older lady was waitressing and asked if we'd been helped, we said no, she said someone would be right out. Small diner with fabulous service and pretty grubbin' burgers. My husband and I dropped on one day and Jill was our server. She gave us 5 star treatment and she was just so welcoming to us, being first timers. We left with full bellies and nothing but nice things to say about the service with was stellar. We got basic burgers but they were LOADED with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and red onions. Burgers were juice with good flavor and I don't even like meat that much! I ate the whole thing. My husband and I use to go to this drive inn, when it was "Dave's Drive Inn" way back in time. For some reason, we decided to go there tonight even though we knew it was no longer "Dave's Drive Inn". We were just ready to try something away from Modesto for a change. 100% Angus Beef Burgers..............absolutely delicious. Juicy, crisp lettuce, fresh buns and the fries were the best we have tasted in a long, long time. We stopped by here for lunch and as we walked in, some random guy was leaving and he says to my husband "I wouldn't eat here". Don't know what that was all about though, because the food here is good, the service is great! Our server, Norely was nery nice. She even gave our dog water and treats and she gave us a sample ice cream! We had the Ortega Roast Beef and the Tuna Melt which were both good! Their skin on French fries are the best - so good! Stopped in Hula's on the way back to San Francisco from Yosemite. The staff were super friendly and the food was great! And then I left my wallet in the restaurant. The owner found my business card, called my place of work in SF, they called me, I called him back, and he ended up Express Mailing my wallet to me in San Francisco!
