Garlic Burger and Hula Fries
Bobby M.

Great burger and love the crinkle cut fries. Garlic burger was perfectly cooked and loaded with pickles, onions, lettuce and tomato. The bun is slathered with garlic but it's a gentle flavor not overpowering. They have table service even when you sit out on the patio (walk up window for to-go orders). There is a drive-thru and inside dining. The young lady who served us was polite, friendly, efficient and checked on us multiple times. Overall a great 2nd visit (failed to review after first visit). Awesome place to stop for any meal if you are cruising through Escalon on your way to wherever you may be heading. Sits right on Hwy 120, easy place to stop. Well done Hula staff! Solid 5 stars!!

Food was delicious with a generous amount of crinkle fries (I love crinkle fries!). Ice cold beers hit the spot. Staff was friendly and very attentive. They gave us complimentary soft serve ice cream!

(Tookout 10/07/24 MO @ 1:30pm): I "hulaed" myself to this place solely based on the name! Unfamiliar with the area, I did a quick Yelp app search for local small business food and Hula's was one of the first restaurants that popped up. I asked the mom of the friend I drove up with who grew up in the city and currently lived here, and she said it was a really good place - perfect! I mean, the name itself was enough for me to want to try it. For the life of me, I couldn't find the connection of this seemingly Hawaiian-themed eatery based on their burgers https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=wNKc5qLr3Tf4m-NHzZBoPw and how it ended up deep in the heartland of California farm country. Would I be dancing the hula and singing its aloha praises for their food!? PURCHASE Oreo Cookies Milkshake 24floz Cup ($6.99): Homemade with a nice consistency, plenty of Oreo cookie bits, and could easily have stood in as a meal, I split this with my friend as we waited for our respected food orders. It was truly lovely and I wished I hadn't shared! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=FRFKsYgySxFGhvftIL8UtA [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 4.0 of 5.0 STARS] Beer Battered Onion Rings Full Basket ($7.99): A large container with a bunch of rings of various sizes, these were hot, medium browned, crunchy, and had a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) pulled out instead of breaking apart. They weren't very oily (a plus), we had some catsup but really wasn't needed, and generally were very good. The full basket was the way to go! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=6Cav7L8_vhKw9772tmYr8A The Big Kahuna Burger w/Small Salad ($14.99): A third-pound fresh seasoned hamburger patty, this burger had the works plus avocado, bacon, jalapeño, and jack cheese while I also added some ingredients from the included side salad all barely held together by the lightly-toasted sesame seed bun, this easily was a dripping, juicy, messy two-hander https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=VclsIo_WNsbdBrxk0hvzeQ that took no prisoners. Everything was fresh, and once I ate the whole thing, I felt like a big kahuna... in more ways than one - mahalo! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=geggr-TMgQRLrCaNoejmLA Small Salad (INCLUDED): This was a simple salad of chopped romaine lettuce, shredded cheese, red onion, tomato, and a side of dressing, it was a nice healthier change of pace from everything else I ate in this meal. My heart thanked you! SERVICE We were greeted by an attractive young woman behind the order window who was extremely patient while we decided what each of us wanted. Once that was sorted out, she easily took our orders, the shared milkshake came out within minutes, and then the rest of the food was ready about ten minutes later; easy-peasy - thank you! PARKING (FREE) They shared a decent-sized lot with a few other businesses - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quaint roadside diner feel with its somewhat dated interior tables and pastel colored walls https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=65ZtEvgGQxX8-zw-ehEgDA that made things even brighter, this place let you know you were in San Francisco sports teams country with the many framed and unframed pictures of 49ers and Giant players https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=-URs6f2LPBXVIZCCNQ9XlA hung on the walls. They also had some outdoor dining areas if you wanted some fresh air. Plenty of natural lighting came through the front windows and doors while bright electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There was a TV at each end of the interior dining room while no music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=PPghoZPpF5Ah_sGfkPIbmg ATTIRE Business casual, so I was in a dress shirt, dress pants, and Doc Martens. OVERALL I really liked Hula's and its small town sensibility and would definitely visit again. I loved the food, the prices were very comparable, the portions were huge, and the service was easy and straightforward. This place was like a non-corporate IHOP without the dinner menu (they served all-day breakfast, and I think even beer!). And, whenever possible I liked to support small local businesses. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $33.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Sabre Fe Chicken Sandwich. I got the grilled jalepenos on the side because I am a wimp.

I have been wanting to stop here and try it out for so long and I finally did. It was great! A lot of options and the food was delicious. Great spot for a quick burger or sandwich. The staff is very friendly and fun. Very cool spot for breakfast or lunch.

We loved our visit to Hula's! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Everyone was super friendly, and to top it off, they surprised us with a free cup of soft serve at the end -- such a nice touch. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Escalon! We stopped on our way home from Yosemite!

First and foremost thank you to Caroline her Husband, Natalie and Angelica for being great host and…read moreproviding us with this what felt like a personal dining experience. Hour of arrival was around 5pm. We were greeted by Natalie and welcome in. We sat at the bar. Shortly after we were greeted by Caroline. We spoke about what brought us here. I explained to her i saw thier Yelp page and a pictures of a pizza caught my eye. She explains in detail of what she is doing with this style of pizza and the ingredients she uses. We were sold. We ordered 3 new haven style pizza or apizza as advertised. We ordered the Mozz , Margherita and one not on the menu Pepperoni hot honey apizza. This is the order she suggested we have them and we complied. I'm no expert of new haven style pizza but I'll watched enough Dave Portnoy to maybe not necessarily be a judge but to recognize what makes a apizza. Let me start by saying these pizzas were delicious. As for the characteristics of a new haven there were some. I'll let you be the judge by the picture or your own experience dinning here. We tried all 3 as they were coming out the oven and also tried them with Caroline customizations. In short they elevated the apizza. She also mentioned she puts some parmigiano reggiano on her pizza and has a big wheel of it in the back which I didn't get the chance to see and take a picture. None the less another thing to like about her pizza.. Natalie crafted some fine spirits for us to accompany our pizzas although I wish they were a bit more unbalanced in a good way but then again the are mixed drink. The ambiance was great with Contemporary jazz playing. I like jazz so it was delightful. If you are at the bar you may need to talk a little louder to your friend. 3 pizzas 5 mixed drinks plus tip $190. I will certainly be back with my wife I think she will like the Alfredo pasta. Caroline signature dish. Heavy cream she says.
