Me and my family showed up to eat a pizza in Escalon after spending the evening doing a charity event for Escalon high school. We were told at the counter by a high school student know less that they were closing early tonight and we're not going to let us eat in the building even though they were open for another hour. They just decided to close the room early. Very sad to turn a family of five who is going to order two extra large pizzas away. I guess this is why everybody goes to Dubonis. First, let me declare a bias, I eat here once a month as part of our Shriners group for our monthly meeting. I have been coming to D.boni's for a couple of years now, and find both the dine in and take home food to be good. It never fails to be served on time or ready when ordered for pick up. The quality is always well done, the meats spot on, the pastas flavorful and properly cooked, and the sauces savory. D'boni's is the kind of family run place you want to support, you will get good personal service done by caring friendly people. Update: my wife and I recently tried their ribs for the first time. D'boni's is a local legend in Escalon, and for good reason. I've been going for the last 15 years, and it continues to have the perfect atmosphere, the pizza is 10/10, and the employees are always friendly, welcoming, and polite. Pizza: Hands down, I have never had better pizza. It doesn't compare to the traditional types of pizza, but it's the best I've ever had. Going inward from the rim, it's crispy/cracker like, chewy with crispy under layer, and then a soft middle. The dough gets very hydrated by the sauce, and it leaves a wonderful soft texture in your mouth. The dough itself is a specific experience at D'boni's, I almost want to call it California tavern, or just a thicker old-school west coast take on NY hand tossed, with a lower hydration dough. I'm no pizza expert though . The amount of sauce and cheese is perfect, and as a whole, it never feels dry in your mouth (personal least favorite thing is dry pizza) Experience: The salad bar has good options, and the calzones are just as good as the pizza. I have yet to try a burger here. The employees are ALWAYS friendly and polite, ever since the first time I stepped inside. It's a wonderful atmosphere for families and children, their arcade games are entertaining, although dated, but it fits the theme of the pizzeria and I don't think anyone is complaining, especially being a small town business. Yes, you can win at the claw machine, I've done it before. Notes: - Even as an adult you will see me creepily in the arcade area. - Not sure if manzanita sol is still on the soda fountain, but it should be because their fountain manzanita sol is the best, especially paired with pizza. - I want them to sell merchandise online!!!!! The pizza has remained the same throughout all of my visitations and never disappoints, same with the friendly demeanor of employees. I live in Texas, and I frequently mention how much I want to return. My girlfriend who doesn't like pizza says the same thing, and agrees it's the best pizza experience she's ever had. Was very excited to give D'boni's Pizza a try. It's a small town that's been around since the 80s with years of league team photos adorning the walls. There's in a small arcade room that appears to have been there since before computers, along with a scattering of other games to keep the children entertained. Located in a small strip mall with foodie options in an equally small town. I feel like a pizza snob by saying this isn't my type of pizza. The crust had a crunchy cracker taste with no hint of yeast, and the sauce was on the sweet side which equals m'eh to me. I prefer a charred chewy yeast tasting dough. Order from the counter as you walk in and you're given a number. Staff is friendly and accommodating with my special requests. For presentation, this is a 5 star pizza with noticeable attention to detail. The toppings were in abundance and not just scattered but nicely placed on the pie, covering the entire pie. Not leaving a huge crust area was helpful with ordering a medium pizza because large is not available. I would go as far to say this is the best looking pizza. Size options are mini, small, medium & X large. Hubbs and I barely ate half a medium pie. For the babes we ordered a small cheese sticks made with the pizza dough. You can really taste the cracker taste with the cheese bread. The pizzas appear to have been cooked in a conveyor oven that is heated from the bottom because the crust is very crispy on the bottom, but the top is still a little on the doughy side and the cheese doesn't have that bubbled cooked goodness. This is a good local pizza parlor but I wouldn't go out of my way. If you're out for a drive in the country this a solid pizza place that's good for a large group and families. My #1 burger was Hodads in San Diego LONG BEFORE Guy Fieri of the food network claimed it as his #1 burger ever. My #1 burger right now is Grinderz in Huntingbeach,CA but I digress. Let me tell you about this pizza joint in who the hell knows where I am. I literally don't know the name of the city and I don't care. All I know is, this has to be one of the most PERFECTLY made double bacon cheeseburgers EVER! I have certain criteria when it comes to a perfect burger. The toasted bun, the juiciness of the meat, the sauciness, the bacon crispness, the stacking order of the condiments, and the overall flavor. if you check my boxes, you're probably in the top 10 in America. Although the stacking order wasn't to my specifications (condiments must be below the meat patty for added freshness and juiciness upon first bite), that didn't matter. Whenever I bite into a good burger I want the sauce and juice to drip down my hand. If I have to slurp sauce off my pinky fingers, you're winning. I came in here for a pizza after heading home from Dodge Ridge Ski resort, saw they had burgers and said, why the hell not. And boy..... when I bit into this burger the clouds above separated and a light shined down from the heavens and blessed it with approval!! All I wanted was a decent pizza, but left with a legendary burger. Try this place if you are craving a mean juicy burger. You will absolutely not be disappointed. And the pizza is actually great too. First time here. We drove from Oakdale to give them a try. Very friendly employees. The salad bar was good, could use a few more options like cherry tomatoes and eggs. We had the bbq chicken pizza and left off the bell peppers, the only thing I would change the onions to red instead of white. The crust was very good. We'll definitely try them again.
