Rebecca and Duane are the real deal! I have used Humane Wildlife Control several times now to help me with critter problems. As the name of the business suggests, their methods are very humane, but also highly effective. Each time they have come out to the property, they have done a thorough examination of the problem areas and found out exactly how the critters are getting where they shouldn't be. Once they determine the critter behavior and access points, they are usually able to get the critters to leave on their own and then seal up or block their way back in. They also installed a beautiful barn owl box on my property which has already had a few owl tenants. Rebecca and Duane are very cost conscious and cost effective -- much more so than the mainstream services. And most importantly -- they are also really nice people. Really odd experience. I manage a few beach front Airbnbs in Moss Landing, and one of our guests complained of noises in the walls. I called around to find a place that would do exclusions/humane removal and wanted to get quotes and ask questions about their process. At first, Rebecca was nice when booking our appointment, but once she found out I also spoke to Dan at Urban Trapping, she became pretty hostile and didn't have great things to say about him. Then she went on to say she wasn't playing this game with me, wouldn't give me a quote, and she was too busy etc. and if I wanted to price shop, to not waste her time. We were referred to Humane Wildlife Control from another extermination service who doesn't handle raccoons. Rebecca came to our property to inspect for raccoons living under our deck (and said she'd also inspect for rodents). I showed her where she could go under the deck, but she somehow decided she didn't want to do that. She did absolutely nothing to determine if there were raccoons living there. Instead, all she ended up doing for her $165 inspection was the following: 1. told me I should close off any entrance to under the deck to prevent anything from getting under there. i knew that before she came. i wanted to know if we do, in fact, have raccoons living under our deck. 2. told me if I want to know if we have rodents in our crawlspace, I should put a piece of food next to a motion-activated camera. i knew that before she came. i wanted her to tell me if we do, in fact, have rodents living in our crawlspace. It feels like a scam to me. I'm surprised at all the great reviews. My suggestion to Rebecca is to be clear in your communication what you will and won't be doing for your $165. read more

I got my sleep back! I called HWC after dealing with another wildlife company that started the job in my home and never finished it. I had an opossum trapped in my attic for almost two months, yup...two months..and it was waking me up every night around 2am(super fun). I was starting to lose hope that it wouldn't be removed in time before it died. The original company charged me per day for a trap in my attic that did nothing but cost me money, and when we tried reaching out to set up a removal they said it would die soon and then never responded to further help us. I'm glad he didn't respond because I reached out to HWC, and Rebecca reached out to me promptly. She texted me to ask me some questions and then called me when she read my story. Her husband Duane, I believe, came to our house a couple of days after the call to check out our home. He ended up suggesting to open up a spot that was sealed by another pest company so it can try to leave and after a quick set up of newspaper and some food, it left a day later! That was it! They didn't charge me extra for checking out our roof or for opening the spot and setting up an area for the possum to leave. I am thankful for their understanding in knowing how screwed we were due to the previous company we dealt with. Both Rebecca and Duane are a delight, and you can tell they are honest, super knowledgeable and care about your concerns and the animals who are visiting your home. I care about wildlife and strive to co-exist peacefully with animals. So, when some rats moved into my crawl space, I knew that I had to find a way to remove them safely and non-lethally. I had no idea how to achieve this - "pest control" companies would only offer me different methods of killing them. Then I found Rebecca Dmytryk, with Humane Wildlife Control Inc. Since I was located out of their service area, Rebecca consulted with me by phone about the best approach for my situation. The whole process was really ingenious. I started by setting out some live traps (locked open) and a camera to see the type and number of animals. After just a few days, I could see that my two wood rats were acclimated to the traps, happily going in and out of them for food. Next, I had a rodent exclusion crew come to my house to look for and seal all the access holes that the rats were using to get into the crawl space. That night, I trapped the first rat with no problems since she was already comfortable going into the traps. The following night, I caught the second rat. Before releasing both of the rats in my garden, I dyed their tails with ultraviolet dye so that I would be able to tell if either of them got back into the crawl space. Two nights later, I caught one of these same rats again (verified by the dyed tail), so I knew that there was another hole somewhere that we hadn't found. I had the inspector come back to my house, and after a lot of exploration in the bushes, he found a secret rabbit hole that connected to my crawl space - my rat must have found it in her attempts to get back to her nest under the house. He blocked up the rabbit hole, and since then my crawl space has been rat-free! I really appreciate the great features of Rebecca's method. First, my rats were safely removed, and should do just fine in my garden since they were already used to foraging there. Second, those same rats (highly motivated to get back to their nest) did a thorough test to find any additional access holes! If they had been killed rather than removed, I wouldn't have found out about the secret rabbit hole until the next rat nest appeared months from now. I called Rebecca because we believed we had rodents entering our house in PG. From the first conversation, I knew I'd picked the right company! She explained that their process begins with an on-site visit to identify entry points to the house, after which they'd send us a plan describing what we'd need to do to seal things up. She said we could implement the plan ourselves, hire a handyman to do it, or engage her team to do it. They found 4 potential points of entry and I opted to have her team do the work of sealing them up. Once sealed up, they placed a humane trap to catch any rodents that might still be inside the house, with guidance that we could check the traps daily ourselves, and release any rodents we found. Because I'm squeamish, I opted to have her team check the traps and they placed a camera so they could watch for activity and time their visits accordingly. Rebecca is warm, patient, and kind and she makes the process exceedingly easy for the homeowner. She communicated with me at every step and always offered her "do it yourself" guidance, which would be a great option for customers who are younger or more handy than I am. Their rates were extremely reasonable for the services they performed. I think Humane Wildlife Control is a best-in-class operation. They solved my problem without using chemicals or poisons that could harm the environment and/or neighborhood children or pets. I had a horrible experience with this business, and frankly feel like I was scammed. Zero stars. Here is my story: We had a family of raccoons living in the attic. Loud, scratching sounds keeping us up at night. I found Rebecca dymtryk here on yelp, and there were good reviews. She responded and came over quickly. She walked around the property, took a few photos, and then told me she'd get back to me with a plan for how to get the raccoons to leave. She mentioned that they suggest as a first step citronella oil and plugging the holes, and promised that exact instructions would be sent to me on how to do this. She seemed nice, and I paid her cash on the spot. Several days later, after more nights of poor sleep due to scratching sounds, I still had not received the instructions. I reached out to her on the cell phone number she provided to me, that we had had several texts back and forth on. She promised the instructions, but never delivered. I reached out to her several more times, asking for her to send what she had promised. But nothing. She kept saying she would send it, but didn't. Eventually, I politely told Rebecca about my frustration, and explained that I'd essentially paid her for nothing. Her response was to blame me, because I "did not contact her on the right phone number". This is a ridiculous assertion, given that she'd provided that number to me the first time we met, and specifically asked me to text my address to this number. We'd already had several back and forth texts at this point, so I had no reason to think there was a different phone number. Secondly, why is it my responsibility, as her client, to track down the deliverables that were promised? I paid her cash, on the spot, and a week later, she still had not delivered on this. Eventually, I hired John Haderle of Haderle Pest control to help me out. He was extremely thorough, professional, and easy to talk to. This was a world of difference for me. John did a fantastic job identifying and patching up all the entryways. I highly recommend him, and highly discourage you from using Rebecca or Humane Wildlife Control. It was very, very frustrating paying someone and not having them follow through with promised deliverables. When you're looking for someone to help you with a pest invasion in your home, time is not on your side. You want someone who is not only concerned about the wildlife invading your home, but your home and your sanity too. We had the issue of woodrat invading into our crawlspace. I contacted some local pest/animal control companies, all of them told me that they only can get rid of rats and not fixing the entry hole around foundation, dug by rats. Watch for their call back and break away from your meeting, kids' parent teacher meeting, shower, car-driving, or surgery to take the call. Otherwise you will be in this unholy hell that exists between answering services and field service people who don't answer their mobile phones. You will call them and leave a message. They will call you and leave a message. Except there is no way to call them back except to call them and leave a message so that they can call you back. So when they call back, grab that call. I truly cannot recommend Humane Wildlife Control highly enough. Rebecca and Duane are experts at dealing with wildlife issues and have implemented long-term effective solutions for the first time since we discovered mice. We previously used "pest control" companies who charged a monthly fee to poison the animals, but the bait just attracted more and more animals to the house. It made the problem worse not better, and was a huge risk to the other animals on the property and other wildlife such as hawks. I don't like putting a continuous stream of poison into the environment either. HWC actually solved the problem and eliminated mice from entering the house. Absolutely phenomenal!! I called this company after 6pm one day, and Rebecca answered the phone! She was so incredibly kind as I told her all about our mouse infestation. We arranged an inspection, and she even moved it up by a couple of days when I later expressed concern about needing a faster solution. Duane came out and inspected. Our rental home is so large and complex that Rebecca ended up not charging us for the inspection because Duane would have needed more time and resources to go underneath the deck. Since we are moving out of this home soon, Rebecca went out of her way to send me recommendations about products to use to humanely drive the mice away as we clean, pack up, and move. I could not be happier with the solution Rebecca and Duane from Humane Wildlife Control provided for our Racoon problem. Story time: there were raccoons pooping on the roof of the shed. Lots of pooping... like 5 lbs. a month. It was as if all the raccoons in the neighborhood were , "Hey raccoon dudes, I know this great place to poop!". Always, the pooping continued. They *really* liked the roof of the shed and nothing after a year of attempted solutions was working. I thought a low voltage electric deterrent might be the next thing to try, but I did not even know where to start. Enter Yelp reviews and Humane Wildlife Control. They came out, surveyed the environment and problem, and gave us an estimate. We pushed the button about a week later and after a morning of installation time, we had a beautifully operational low voltage electric deterrent solution. I love that the solution they provided was solar, was bird friendly, and did not damage or require modification to the roof for installation. The poles that hold up the "fence" are placed in bricks that sit on the roof surface. Simple genius. **Please see the picture of the installation.** I was also thoroughly impressed by their knowledge of how raccoons were accessing our roof. They proposed the locations for the fence and what type and size of fence would be effective. If I had tried it myself, I have no doubt that I'd have gotten it wrong. For me, this was a case of, "it pays to pay people for their expertise". I was also impressed with Duane's knowledge of electrical things and his outstanding explanations to me about how the system works and how to maintain it (it is super low maintenance, but I'm curious so I had a lot of questions and learned a lot about how it works!). I waited a bit to write this review (I suppose I could have come back and updated it), but I am happy to report that after 90 days, no poop; not a single one. Humane Wildlife Control - Low voltage raccoon deterrent... Works like a charm!!! - Pest Control Near Me

I am in the North Hollywood/Studio City area of Los Angeles and Humane Pest Control provides services here; this is not Bay Area only. (And please note they will do consulting over the phone nationwide.) I called yesterday to see if we could schedule an appt and they could actually fit us in today, a Sunday. I spoke with Rebecca and she was easy to talk as well as understanding--she was not judgmental. Contractor/carpenter Sam Ramirez is outside right now setting up a simple but humane newspaper/citronella system for getting any critters and their babies out of our crawlspace so that he can then seal up access without trapping them inside to starve to death. We were having another contractor come out, but they were going to seal up access points and then set down glue traps and "snap" traps. I didn't want to do that bc we just want the critters out of the house, not killed. Sam is very personable and patient. He did inspection of outside perimeter, inspection of attic crawlspace, and roof inspection to locate any/all access points. We went around with him on the exterior. He took photos and he also took a 360-degree vid w/his tablet of the attic crawlspace. He is repairing one vent cover. Total is $304 and that includes him making a handsome new wooden crawlspace-access cover. If we wanted him to come over daily to check the newspaper and re-staple it, that would be $45 a day. If you just want him to install a metal Home Depot cover, it's 40 instead of 60. But the one he makes is flush and also looks a lot nicer.
