I would give them a zero if I could. I've had monthly service with them for about 4 years. Services were spotty at best and didn't control the problem. I paid an extra 3k for a one time exclusion service. Within weeks of the service, I had mice in my house. Called for them to take care of the problem. They gave me a five hour window and then didn't show up. To make matters worse, the technician lied and claimed he had actually been here. I filed a complaint and talked to his manager. He said he would look into it. He never called me back. Don't waste your money on these clowns. read more

My mother's restaurant been a very loyal customer to this company. She's Chinese, doesn't speak fluent English, but she came here looking for a better future for myself and my siblings. She even became a small business owner. Today, she called the accounting center to pay her bills (844-839-9593). She dialed the wrong extension number and got to Danielle (x 26831) instead of her normal accounting person. Immediately after Danielle picked up, my mom apologized and tried to explain that she was trying to reach a different extension number. My mom doesn't speak fluent English, but she was polite and soft-spoken. Instead of saying, okay m'am, I will reroute you OR just tell my mom to call back, she half-assed her customer service and curtly said "HOW CAN I HELP YOU???" She didn't bother listening to what my mom was saying. My mom then told her, well you guys spelled my last name wrong, and again, Danielle VERY rudely said "WELL M'AM, HOW CAN I HELPP YOUUU?!?!?!" (I don't feel like I can properly translate the attitude this lady felt she needed to convey to my mother, who worked three jobs to raise her children, and sacrificed her whole life to be here, JUST to be disrespected and discriminated against?) My mom then moved on from the last name issue and began to try to pay the bills. Danielle asked my mom what she'd like to pay, and my mom asked how much the bill was - and Danielle then again, rudely saId "WELL YOUR BILL IS $$$ IF YOU WANT TO PAY $$ THEN THAT'S YOUR ENTIRE BILL?!!?!??!" I was pretty appalled by this time, but I decided that perhaps Danielle was just having a bad day and Danielle wasn't trying to be rude. Then my mom said okay I'd like to pay the entire bill. Danielle said Okay what is your name on the credit card? My mom took out her credit card and tried to read Danielle the number of the credit card and Danielle RUDELY cut her off and went on a diatribe about how my mom was impatient, and told my mom to "LISTEN TO MY QUESTION!?!" (even though this lady ignored what my mom had to say from the beginning). Then my mom asked her okay what is your question and her response was "OH MY LORD." By this time I was pretty ticked off. I don't think I'm being sensitive when I have seen this kind of treatment often and when I constantly hear about our Asian American elders being SLAUGHTERED and ASSAULTED daily just for being Asian, and nobody ever stood up for them. While Danielle did not physically assault my mom, her discrimination was evident in her attitude and her words. She only treated my mom the way she did because of my mom's accent and imperfect English, and she only treated my mom the way she did because she knew that my mom, an Asian American immigrant with imperfect English, would not file a complaint. I took over the phone and asked Danielle for her name and last name and badge number. She gave me her first name, and said she didn't have a badge number and couldn't give me her last name. She told me to call customer service if I had a complaint but it is unrealistic to call customer service to report that a person with a common name was rude. (By the way, Danielle was noticeably more polite as soon as I picked up and spoke to her in fluent English). Then I asked well who do I call to lodge a complaint, and instead of giving me the number, she constantly cut me off to justify her behavior and then hung up on me. I called back to the correct extension line and the accountant was polite and agreed to bring this incident to his supervisor's attention. While I appreciate Western Exterminator's effort to rectify this issue, I can't help but wonder: how many Asian immigrant business owners have suffered the treatment by Danielle? It is especially concerning when I know that Asian Americans normally let things slide. My mom was going to just finish the transaction with Danielle without filing a complaint had I not been around. I'm not writing this review with the hope that Danielle would be disciplined or fired, I am writing this review to raise awareness and hope that Danielle would become a better person (although I know it is only wishful thinking). read more

I had a terrible experience with this company. They went to inspect the surroundings and weren't able to find the subterranean termites that were identified by one of their competitors. Unfortunately, they asked me to get a 3 quote with a more "experienced" termite company to conclude what they found. I finally received the terms of the contract/work, and I signed off on the contract and proposed start date. I received a call a few days later informing me that they were canceling the project unless I decided to pay $1500 more. Do Not, I repeat Do Not Use Western Exterminator in Salinas. Use anyone else. Question 1: What is the most important thing if you pay to have termites killed? Answer: that they are all dead. Question 2: If they are not all dead what would you expect from an exterminator? Answer that they correct the problem and or at least address it in a timely manner. Western Exterminator is a big huge failure do not wast your time like mine is been wasted. Joe Johnson with Western came out did an inspection for termites. We already knew we had them, he was ok enough. We had 3 quotes. Western was in the middle price wise and we did not like the feeling we got from the low price guy. So we went with Western for fumigation. So now the screwed part and so very unprofessional. The key to service is follow up especially if there is an issue. Western Exterminator has zero. It had been over a month and a half since we have found live termites almost immediately after they fumigated. I connected Joe right away by email when we did find them. I got a with a canned ending paragraph. "I've included Veronica on this reply so she can coordinate scheduling an appointment for me to come out and see your finding. When I'm out there we will review your warranty options." Crickets never heard back. The person making the appt. told us we were talking to a local office as I did not want to deal with a large corporation that had more customers than it could handle or cared about! The technicians were nice but they left a wood nail exposed so if my dog went out this doggie door he would have poked his eye out. Human error but could have been very serious for my dog. I won't post the picture. I called the company and they said sorry we will fix it. My husband fixed it. Also I piece of wood they replaced cracked. Not happy customer. They never come and check the work after it is done. I found nails in my front yard too. A technician should pick up after he leaves. read more

Here is a case where Yelp really helped. Reading the reviews of local pest control was depressing, as the negative reviews seemed to be the more compelling, and with so many horror stories. The least bad was Western Pest, where the positive reviews (in other locations) seemed to resonate and the negative were whiners--or so it seemed to us. So we tried 'em. Our pest situation was very bad on 1/2 an acre. Ants everywhere, in some places thick as carpet. Likely 100 spiders inside the house. Strange bugs unclassifiable. Slugs aplenty. In other words, not an easy job. We lucked out with Mario. He set expectations for the long term, but kept at it until now we can get by with routine maintenance. My first ever Yelp posting. We used Western / Ezequiel for a pretty simple ant situation. He showed up on time, assessed the situation, and was done in 20 minutes. He was friendly, polite, gave me his card, and said if I had any issues in the next 30 days to text, call, or email him. I happily gave him a $ 20 tip. Well, of course I did need some follow up, I repeatedly called, texted and emailed him. Nothing. This turned a five star review to a one star review. My recent 3 moths experience with this particular location and company was not same company that I knew. 4 visits of rodent service for $300, within a two months visits, sounds pretty simple?? A Technician who installed initial house visit, did a good job! Second visit, no show,, and call 5 times after, a different tech showed up 6 weeks later not in a week. After all calls I made, no call from the office nor a manager from the site. I scheduled a third visit with tech since it took me five calls so I made with tech in two week follow up. But no show again!! So I called again, no respond from local site. So after 2 more calls, I requested cancelation on my service since I only get 1800 representative whom only I could get hold of... just tired of bagging for replacement parts or service. I sent half of payment and letter not interested in future service.. A month later I get a call from a person, would like to scheduled on a home visit service, but I explained to that person I am not interested future services from the site and already canceled the service. I got a bill from the their national center that I still have $150 balance so I called their 1800 number ( local office did not pick up but hoping I could talk to local office who performed the service in the past. Left a few messages, of course no calls back, so I called again to 1800 number asked what was the charges for. According to the national service center, that I've got two more additional home visits in August. Really??? What?? Not only I attempted near 10 calls, not a once I have not get a call back from local office's manger or staff and now stating that false visits dates and I got charged and sent me a bill?? Interesting!! A good business practice starts with a common decency and honesty. I would hate to recommend my loved one if they need a same service to this company. I am the most disappointed customer with WE. They are never keeping up with their appointments, and even if they didn't show up for the scheduled visit, they still have the guts to charge you for the scheduled visit. When you call them and say how did I get charged when the rep never showed up, and they tell you it's not their department to know if the tech showed up and they are only responsible for billing. So WE is all about money and not service. I have always used Tehrminex and trust me I never ever had a problem, but I moved and the initial visit for WE was scheduled by my landlord, and so I decided to continue and see how it goes. I had the problems from the very first visit scheduled by my landlord, because the rep of WE showed up before we moved in, so he wrote a note outside my door saying to call and reschedule. I rescheduled and he never showed up. I stayed home from work for this, so i wasted a day. After that i had 3 visits rescheduled and he finally showed up on the fourth, when i contacted the manager. The manager was very nice, and so again I tried to give them another chance, and here I am the guy never showed up his regular visit that was scheduled on August 3rd, and today its August 23rd. I have now got charged twice for this visit . It's ridiculous!!!! It's like we should always give another chance to someone but I gave way too many chances, and then keep on getting charged for services not received, is way out of line! i am done! It's just that, they are so polite and courteous on the phone that, they end up convincing you and then the moment the phone is hung up, seems they don't even know you. Skipping days of work, waiting for them to show up, and then not even calling to say they can't make it, is ABSOLUTELY NOT ACCEPTABLE! Changed to Western after 3 years with a local "Ailing" company who was not producing results. Western found termite activity, showed me and explained in detail and resolved it without a hassle. They have gotten the spider problem under control over the past year. Called for a rodent problem and the technician was here the same day. Ezequiel, the tech, was friendly, thorough and has explained everything he has been doing to treat the house and makes recommendations as what I can do. So far, so good. read more

The technician did come out several times to check traps under the house but he tended to show up without checking with me first to see if I would be home. HORRIBLE- do not ever use. I hired this company 4 months ago to help with ants and spiders- the first time they sprayed it didn't help one bit. I was invaded by ants within 2 weeks. I called to ask for them to come back out, only for noone to ever come. I dealt with it, until the next scheduled spray. They sprayed 2 weeks ago and i STILL have ants invading my home. I have a housekeeper come to my home weekly it is spotless- no reason to have bugs! I called and asked to speak to a manager- no call back for 2 days. I called again- this has gone on for the last 2 weeks- after i called 5 times i finally got a manager to call me back only for him to be a jerk. I then got my credit card bill to see i was double charged last month, i called them to discuss and they said it was because they messed up on the billing and didn't charge me the month before so they double charged me for this month. Since i didn't have last months statement in front of me i took them at their word. I have since dug up the last 4 months statements ONLY to see they charged me every month- they completely lied! I have since called back and they told me the manager will call me back to discuss- because that worked so well the last time. I then asked them to cancel my account and she said it was....but i am sure i will see more charges, and a manager will not call back...I AM DISGUSTED at this company and the way they treat their customers. Additionally- when they spray your home they told me i could not be there, so i left a stranger inside my home which is scary in itself. I STRONGLY IMPLORE YOU NOT TO USE THEM, YOU WILL REGRET IT. They don't try to make their many many wrongs right. THey don't care, the manager doesn't care, the staff when i call in always says someone will call you back NOONE EVER DOES. read more

We have been customers of Western for over 25 years for our home in Gilroy. Mario has been our main guy. Also on time. Calls a day ahead to check for problems. He has rescued us through the years from bees swarming in fireplace, rodents in garage and carpenter ants. Great investment. We recenlty added our vacation home to this service through their other office when we discovered large ants coming into the bathroom through the floor. It was just like a horror movie- hundreds swamed faster than I could kill them! Trevor, from Western in Reno area, saved the day and now that home is also on regular maintenance. Trevor follows up on all issues and calls or texts the day before also to check for any issues. Great service and professional staff from office to field. Best investment ever. read more

Have used this company for over 15 years. Two years ago Anthony left the company and they have been downhill since that point. I always expect a call before the service and then to ring the door bell to the let us know they are on the property to provide the service. All of the things you would expect are gone. I called on 5-25 to have Andrew who manages our property to call but no luck. I called on 6-9 to have Tim who is Andrew's manager to call me and they said he would call back that day as they were sending a message to him right away. The Salinas branch never came out to check our traps for almost a month. They set the traps in dangerous places, and the traps are the same kind you could buy at any CVS store. They cleared our back yard out and took some bushes we wanted to save without asking. Don't even think of calling them on weekends, even if there's a big rat running through your kitchen or bedroom. A nervous technician from out of the area came ONLY ONE weekend to empty a trap. We called five times. He wanted to show it to me. If I have already seen it in the trap, why on earth would I want to look at it again? Ditto to the review that says, they come out late, unexpected, early, or not at all. read more

Having never used an extermination company, I read a bit of the reviews of several local ones . Ouch ! Not too impressive. So with fleas biting my ankles, sleeping in my bed (ouch again) , and larvae all over the Apartment, I told myself: and you don't even have a dog or cat. I first tried using my spray bottle of wintergreen alcohol all over the house . It worked .... but only a bit . That's when I called western exterminator and an estimator/inspector came to my apartment within a few days. Wow! I was impressed . Seemed very knowledgeable and comprehensive and took samples to study the infestation under a microscope. I thought it was moth larvae eating my oriental rug ... but alas , he said no, it was fleas . This way, his treatment was based on a good diagnosis. Smart. Just like my MD. He is arranging for a specialist to come in two days and said their product would be eco-friendly. The written estimate was well organized and very understandable. I look forward to getting this behind me by a team of efficient and knowledgeable persons . read more

Western Termite is totally unreliable and irresponsible. I will never use them again.

I have had the worst customer service experience I have ever had from a company. Their response is terrible. I'm told I'm on a schedule, yet no one shows up or calls. It took them 30 days after I sent in my contract to schedule my service. I have a nasty rat problem in my barn. Someone finally came out to set the traps, and I was told a technician would be out every 2 - 3 days to check the traps. After a week, and several complaint calls, a technician finally came out. That was last Thursday, and he told me my "regular" technician would be back out on Monday. No one showed up or called. When I called the Salinas office, they told me I would get a call from the technician right away. Again, no call, no show. I guess they figure I have nothing better to do than wait around for them. I'm tempted to send them a bill for my wasted time. When I call all I get is apologies. I don't know how they stay in business. I know I will never use them again. read more

We have been residential customers of Western in Prunedale,CA for about 25 years. A year or two ago they switched to a centralized phone answering system and it is now impossible to reach anyone in the local office. When questions or billing issues arise, our phone calls are routed to Los Angeles or San Jose and it is impossible to get answers or action. To make it worse, looonnngggg hold times are standard now, as one operator after another tries to get answers that never come. Knowingly or not, Western's senior management has ruined the experience of dealing with their company. We will be switching to a different pest control service provider. read more
