Humble Sea has been expanding around the Bay and one of their newest locations is at Fisherman's Wharf. In one of the most touristy areas of the city, it's great to have a proper taproom. With all the bustle and noise of the other businesses around, the taproom is also a quieter area. They have a bar area inside, but the great place to sit is outside on the pier in a private area accessible only through the bar area. They have a great merchandise area with specially branded items for this location in San Francisco proper. They have a large tap list as well, they really lean into great IPAs, especially hazies but also offer lighter beers. They have a lot of cans for takeout too. The bartender was excellent at dealing with people clearly not used to going to breweries, but also made us feel welcome and shared a bit about how the space is going. Prices are reasonable, they offer small sizes, half pours, or full pours. If you're in this area and need a beer, this a great place to stop for one. read more

We stumbled upon Humble Sea Brewing Co. tucked away near the double-decker carousel at Pier 39, and it was a fun little hidden gem! The outdoor deck overlooks the marina, so you get a great view of the boats along with a nice cool breeze, definitely the highlight of the visit. They don't serve food, but you can order from the nearby Taco Cantina, and they'll deliver it right to your table. My sister and her boyfriend each tried a couple of beers and really enjoyed them. Ordering was done through a QR code, and the service was surprisingly quick and easy. Now, if you're like me and NOT a beer drinker, there really isn't much to choose from, so keep that in mind before stopping by. One last thing... the food prices around Pier 39 are NUTS! So, if you're planning to eat, either be prepared for the tourist pricing or grab a bite before you get there. This place has a great vibe. I was there on a borderline record-hot day in July. It was close to 85 degrees and sunny and warm. Rare for the bay this time of year. It was so warm, in fact, that I had to sit in the shade! Decent selection of beers though not overly extensive. West coast IPA is my go-to and they had one, a good one no doubt. Beer selection with the scenery of the ocean uplifted my spirits, but ultimately just a friendly server, Jay, made my whole day. What was a nice touch was after introducing myself and returning for a refill, Jay remembered my name which made me smile. If you are bopping around pier 39 definitely stop in Humble Sea before you leave, would highly recommend getting there earlier if you plan to sit on the patio. Fantastic and iconic location in the most tourist trap of all, San Francisco has this magical touch easily convincing us all that twenty bucks is normal for an omelet! Twenty bucks is normal for a four back of beer. This place is saturated in that oblivious bliss. I really wanted to grab the limited edition marshmallow stout then was told it's fifty bucks! Zounds! Wild to think someone will chance that without being able to taste it yet psychology tells us we will pretend something taste goods with a big price. I asked so many questions with the polite staff on a rainy empty Monday that I figured I better get a lager. It was fine, Aldi has better four packs for eight bucks yet yes without this ambient ocean vibe! For the pier life this is sure a catch. read more

This brewery was so good we came here every day except one on our vacation. The only reason we didn't make it that one day was because we were out of the area, otherwise it would be every day of our vacation. The outside seating area is perfect. There's plenty of shaded spots and sun spots depending on where you like to sit. Every beer we tried was so good! The employees were always friendly and helpful. I wish I could get this beer in NY because the socks and sandals hazy was sooo good! My only regret is not buying more merch! A must stop spot if you like great beer and good vibes! read more

It was right before lunch and we were walking down the pier deciding where we wanted to have lunch but also wanted a quick drink as we were coming from the East Coast so it was a long flight. We came upon humble sea brewing. When you walk in you see a great view of the bay and we were greeted very promptly. The gentleman behind the bar did a great job of explaining the different types of brews and what would be the most economic option for us. We ended up getting a four pack of their lager. We enjoyed their beautiful outdoor seating with harbor and city views and enjoyed their IPA sampler - $8 pours for $42! Great way to try all their IPAs! Service is fast and friendly - you order at the bat and grab your own table! They don't have food but there are QR codes on the table to order from the nearby Taco Cantina!! I want to start by saying thank you to the Humble Sea team for placing their newest location on Pier 39. It was an amazing reason for me and my boy to bring our kids to a tourist attraction that we've tried to stay away from due to high traffic and over pricing. Humble Sea has arguably the best beers in all of the Bay Area. I have been to each one of their tap rooms or breweries and they never seem to disappoint. Today was no different. The beer was amazing. I had the limited super pop, tropical blue and a fog this hazy IPA. Both drinks were excellent. Pier 39 really is a marvel. The kids loved it, and the location provided a view of the bay bridge, Treasure Island, and the ocean. It is a stunning scenery on a beautiful day. So given all that, why did I knock down one star? Well mostly because the food options were limited at the brewery. They have a partnership with a Cantina nearby that charges about six dollars a taco plus. We were really hungry and since the other locations have really great food, we were hoping this would be the same Unfortunately it was not. I am hoping that they can get a partner or a kitchen within the establishment to be able to provide more affordable food options that are quality level. Until they are able to do that, I'm not sure that I would go back and instead would opt for a better experience at Pacifica or Alameda. read more

I love the beer selection. They constantly change their beers while keeping some of the ol' favorites. Great food (limited menu Mon/Tue), burgers, salads, specialties, sometimes food trucks. I visited Humble Sea Brewing Co. and had a great experience. The setting is Pier 39 -- lively, touristic, energetic. In other words, typical Pier 39. Inside, though, the brewery keeps its own identity and focus. They don't offer a huge beer list, but what they do brew is very, very good. The emphasis is clearly on quality over quantity. The beers are exceptionally well balanced and thoughtfully crafted. My favorite was the dark beer Old Time Bock & Roll, a collaboration with Armistice Brewing Company. This Double Decocted Doppelbock is smooth, rich, and beautifully balanced -- a real Doppelbock in the traditional sense. Deep malt character, rounded body, structured yet easy to drink. Exactly what the style should be. The beer was served properly, at the right temperature but not in the correct glassware, by a cordial and enthusiastic staff member who clearly enjoys what they're pouring. That attention to service makes a difference. Overall, a great brewery stop in a very touristic area -- focused selection, excellent balance, and beers brewed with real respect for style. I'll definitely return for another Doppelbock. read more
