This is one of two locations for them, with the other being at the Valencia Beer Hall in the Mission. We were visiting the Sat Farmer's Market here at the Ferry Building and your boy worked up a big thirst and required some suds, and Fort Point delivered a nice, crisp Hazy to hit the spot. If you're coming from the East Bay, I have the perfect start for a SF Happy Hour idea. Take the Richmond Ferry to the Ferry Building in SF (around 30 or so minutes) and head immediately to Fort Point for sunset, people watching, and happy hour cheers. Quick stop, quick service, fair pricing. Fort Point is located in an outdoor stall on the exterior of the Ferry Building and has outdoor seating (tables:chairs) and a fun menu of fresh beer and snacks. Food-wise there is a crab roll, hot dog, soft pretzel, and fish dip on the menu to name a few. Beer-wise there is a fun eclectic gathering of season, limited, and collabs, as well as wine/cider/and zero proof options. Currently they have a collab with Outta Sight Pizza in SF..what a dream! They also sell merch. Their hours are specific, so check before heading over ~ on Friday/Saturday I believe they close at 8p with drink and food last calls listed on the website. Ok so I love this place. We headed down to the ferry building to next ferry to head home. As we learned the ferry is going to be late, we said why not go for one more beer. Our friend took us over to this window and there is a little restaurant. I'm not sure about the food, but they had a great hazy beer on tap. The price with tip for a regular beer is about $10, not bad, but that's what you get at a tourist area. What I liked is on a great day out in San Francisco when it's sunny and warm, you can sit in their picnic area and people watch. It's pretty easy to order and they take Apple Pay! Love this place! Stop by for a quick drink or snack. Service is quick. Manny is super kind and always makes us feel welcomed. Prices can be alittle steep (especially the food) but it's worth it to just sit down and enjoy a drink with friends. What's going on? First, a bar. Now a beer company?! It's not what you think, things haven't dampened me to the bottle or beer. A friend who is a Tuesday farmer's market regular generously offered and bought me a hot dog. Thinking that I knew the INS and outs of the Ferry Building, said friend showed me this place. My friend walked to the counter of this stand next to the new doggie boutique store and ordered me a fancy hot dog (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YFagMouzbYC6zLNIxpjjIQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); getting the beef dog, the menu describes this as including housemade kraut, mustard, and fancy sauce. The cashier asked whether we wanted it spicy which we both said yes. The stoneground mustard along with the bite (chewiness) of the dog paired well with the delicious bun. This definitely ain't no Costco hot dog, pardon my grammar. I enjoyed this and it was a perfect accompaniment to my salad in the office for lunch. In studying the food menu, there are a couple of other items that I'd like to try so, perhaps in the next couple of weeks, I may be posting more photos of their foods. About the beer, well, as mentioned, I'm not a beer kind of guy so I'll leave that to others. read more

We took the ferry over from Mare Island and I was excited they were open. The seating area is a perfect alcove to sit back and watch the farmers market activities. During my whirlwind week in the city, I had the opportunity to try a few Fort Point beers at various taprooms. On the last day, I thought I'd check out their brewery itself. Fort Point is named for its location of the production facility near the Presidio. This brewery isn't open to visitors nor does it have a taproom; instead they opted to have the sole taproom in the Ferry Building right off of downtown. I immediately thought this was genius as they capture the post-work, waiting for a ferry crowd. The taproom is open to the outside but still part of the market. Essentially, it's a booth with a window; 8-taps inside with their offerings, merchandise, and limited food. The rest is a corralled area of tables, mostly for standing room. The entire wall is empty beer cans in a mural; it makes for a colorful backdrop. The staff inside was friendly and welcoming. They have information about the beers and are happy to talk about the brewery. Prices are typical for the city; pours are ample for a beer break. It's worth stopping by for a pint or flight, it won't eat up too much time in what's to be an already packed day. read more

So my original Yelp review was removed because it was flagged. So, let's try this again with a measured approach by making it follow content guidelines. ------------------------------------------ Look, Fort Point makes decent beer. Too bad they hired a "not-so-welcoming" employee. Therefore, my experience at Fort Point will forever make me think of them as Far-From-Friendly-Employee-Trying-To-Make-A-Rude-Point. After meeting some friends at The Ferry Building on Saturday when the CUESA Farmer's Market was going on in full force, we decided that we wanted to drink some beer. We saw the Almanac Beer tent, but after joking with their affable, amiable, and cordial staff that we'd want to drink our beers around the Ferry Building since it was such a lovely day, in which they'd answered that we couldn't, we ended up at Fort Point. What a regretful mistake. I walked up to the window where the aforementioned "anything-but-genial" employee of Fort Point greeted me with an unprovoked attitude when all I asked him was a question. I asked if their saison was a sour saison. Simple question right? Then this "antagonistic guy" goes on a holier-than-thou rant about how saisons are French seasonal beers and literally yells at me about how there are no sour saisons. Excuse me? Being with my friends, I didn't want to cause a scene, but I felt that this "ill-informed individual" knew nothing about customer service, let alone beer. First of all, saisons originated from a French-speaking region of Belgium, not France. The most well-known saison is Saison Dupont from... wait for it... Belgium. Therefore, saisons are originally a Belgian seasonal beer that later spread to France, England, and now American craft breweries. On top of that, modern brewers are blending the line between traditional saisons and tart saisons. But it appeared to me that this "uncongenial worker" at Fort Point didn't know much about the beer scene. For instance, just a short jump over The Bay (depending on traffic that is) in North Berkeley is the no-snotty-service Gilman Brewing that specializes in sour saisons. But what do I know right? On top of that, I asked the "grouchy employee" if we had to drink only in their seating area or if we could wander around parts of The Ferry Building since we were technically "in" the building. Then he goes on this rancorous tirade about "in California, you can't drink in public." Let me pause here and say interesting choice of words. Suggesting that I'm not from California because I asked this question was very suspect. After all, I even handed him my California driver's license. Look, I've been drinking "legally" almost half my life. The only other thing I could think of was that he thought I was from somewhere else. I wonder if he says this to all patrons? The only reason I asked was because I wanted to know the boundaries of the drinking area. All he could have said (like the people at Almanac) is no, unfortunately, you can only drink within this area. Perhaps Fort Point needs to put up some signs if their workers get easily annoyed with people asking this question. Alas, I do not foresee myself returning to Fort Point because I do not need to be yelled at when I am giving them my hard-earned money. BTW, yes I know that in California, drinking in public is illegal. But everything in San Francisco is different. Go check out Dolores Park or any other park in The City for that matter and you will know what I'm talking about. But what does this non-Californian-looking-guy know? read more

Finally made it out to Fort Point to have happy hour with a few friends. Come early because this relatively small space gets crowded, especially on workdays. I walked my husky puppy here and he passed out while the human enjoyed refreshing brews. It was a little tough to find Fort Point because I thought it'd be on the backside of the Ferry Building, but it's actually tucked away in the shade near the main entrance. You order at the counter then seat yourself in the communal area. I love that there are only a handful of selections, and out of those, there's something for everyone. My personal favorite is the Animal IPA. Great vibe, and though I wouldn't trek across the city for Fort Point, it'd be my top choice if I was spending the day along the Embarcadero. read more

Hell yeah Fort Point, heck yeah Ferry Building! I always make my way to FP when I'm visiting the Ferry Building in Embarcadero. Fort Point is a local SF brewery, doing ops and creating sudsy magic in Presidio, but sold in their own small vendor-like-shop along the outside of Ferry Building. I've enjoyed quite a few beers at this location, and all of the times were positive and relaxed. Service here is no frills, but so full of genuine care and fabulous service. Ever taptender I've had here has openly encouraged me to enjoy a few sips before purchasing my beer, just to make sure I am LOVING what I drink. I do enjoy all of their IPA's and even like the wheat beers too. They have lots of light pale ales, saison, and ales in general. No porters or stouts, but Fort Point's style is Cali-cool and easy-going vibes. It translates well into all of their beers. They also have light bar bites like pretzels, and what not. However, I usually just get empanadas indoors at El Porteno, or I get a Gott's burger to go and eat it with my Fort Point beer. Super chill space. I attended Fort Point Beer Company, located in the San Francisco Ferry Building, on a first date. The establishment is located at the northwest corner of the Ferry Building, facing the Embarcadero, which has great views for people watching. The establishment has high bar tables and a limited number of stools. The rear of the establishment has wall art, made from the colorful beer cans, which is periodically changed, based upon pictures online. Fort Point has a limited beer selection with names that don't clearly identify the varietal of beer, so make sure you view the small menus (rather than the wall-mounted menu) before ordering. I highly recommend that you wear layers as the fenced off area for drinking is outdoors only. Fun spot that I'll definitely visit again. The beer was great; my date was not! read more

Went here after work with coworkers on a Tuesday and there was plenty of room to sit. Got the Dipper (double IPA) and a tropical IPA. Both were really good with the Dipper being my favorite. For a double IPA it wasn't too hoppy and had a lot of flavor. My group got hot dogs and we noticed that the sausages were really bland. Later when I looked at my digital receipt I saw that the hot dog had a note like "beef or vegan", so I think they may have given us vegan dogs so that was not so great.
