I went to this place on June 10 because it was recommended by a majority of people on my neighborhood Facebook page, and I was **not** disappointed. My car was pulling hard to the right, so I thought it needed an alignment. They inspected it and told me it didn't need one at all. Instead, they found a different issue (I can't remember exactly what it was), and the repair ended up costing much less than an alignment. They could have easily told me they performed an alignment and charged me more, but they didn't. They chose the honest route, and that says a lot about their integrity. I've since scheduled another appointment because my A/C is blowing almost nothing but warm air--which is definitely not doable in Florida! I'm grateful to have found my go-to shop for anything related to my car. It's such a relief to know I can trust them to be fair, honest, and not recommend repairs I don't actually need. read more

I took my Prius in for them to look at because it was running poorly and I had ran a ODB2 scan and received a general misfire code. They had the car for 3 days and said the transmission was so messed up that they couldn't work on it. They charged me the diagnostic fee and then told me they needed me to get the car due to lack of spaces in the lot. I had another mechanic look at it because I knew the transmission was fine before it started running bad. He told me to get a new set of spark plugs and changed 2 of the ignition coils for $200. The car has been running perfectly ever since, no transmission issues at all. read more

On August 4th pinellas county got hit with a horrible storm. My car had to be towed to Hummel. From the start they went above and beyond for me. I unfortunately had to put in an insurance claim. They helped me and made me feel like I could put my trust in them. Harry and Kim both helped me in Such a difficult situation. 2011 ford F150 missfire on cylinder #8. After doing a lot of research, i thought I was going to need a valve job because my engine has a known issue with the valves. Hummel did a diagnosis, found out it was just a bad coil. They did find that all my coil tubes filled with oil and that i needed new valve covers. They did provide communication and evidence of my issues. I will be returning customer. read more

Must have gotten them on a bad day? I had to wait 2 hours for my vehicle to even be taken back for inspection, and I made an appointment for an AC diagnostic and a general inspection a week in advance. No communication - eta, whether I was waiting or dropping off - nothing. I brought it to their attention in my vehicle was in plus out in less than 25 minutes, with nothing but a short description suggesting complete AC replacement for over $2,000... And they never even completed the general inspection I requested. like I said, must have got them on a bad day, as they've always come highly recommended, but they acted like I was chopped liver and wasted my time. DON"T GO HERE, they are DECEPTIVE! Just picked up my car today, 4 new tires @ $300 each. Signs posted ALL OVER reception area that alignment and balance are included with tire purchases. Car was there Wednesday to Friday as they waited for tire delivery. They put them on, charged us, THEN told us the didn't do alignments on German autos. WHAT? They had the car for two/three days, had to order the tires. They should have informed us immediately, when we first inquired about new tires, that they could not accomodate our car. Now we have to go elsewhere, at our additional time and cost, for an alignment. Who does business this way? Those with NO ETHICS. read more

Control arm kit charged $201.00 each side (can be bought for$90.00/ea) BUT the best part is labor... $300.00 to install front shocks $300.00 to install control arm STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!! read more

I really wanted to give these ladies a chance. I needed an oil change but I had to make an appointment for the following week. Later I had to make an appointment to get a set of tires. That went well but when I got a flat two weeks later I brought my car in, donned with the space-save spare, and they told me they wouldn't be able to get to it for another week! They listened to my description of the issue and recommended I drive to their location. They began work n the car upon arrival and quickly repaired the leak. Sadly, this was the first auto shop we stopped in for help in getting a car back in service. Based on the smirk on the technician's face, being talked down to without knowing we actually have auto repair background, being quoted an exorbinate amount, scare tactics, and with her walking away when we said we weren't making an appointment at that time -- we walked out and threw away the business card. I would not have this place do any work for me. .......Ever. By the way, we stopped at a competitor's shop who cared to go over what would probably be required (and he was spot-on with the recommendation that our hometown mechanic said he would do). Pleasant, efficient, organized and very professional. I couldn't have gotten better service this week when I brought my car in to investigate a funny noise. Turns out I needed brakes and power steering work. They took the car at my appointment time and within the hour had isolated the issues and presented me with an estimate and an affordable plan to complete the work. Turns out I could only do the brakes this week. They did advise me that I could wait a bit for the steering problem but not to wait too long because it could do further damage. They were kind enough to offer me a ride home and back. The owner herself actually drove me and alerted me as to what sounds the steering might make should it become critical. Buyer beware and make sure to do your research first! My boyfriend went into this place this morning and was told three of his tires were shot and needed to spend $400 to replace them. He went and got a second opinion and was told that two of the tires were perfectly fine, still above 80% and did not need to be replaced. He was able to purchase two used tires Elsewhere for $80 out the door. If he would have done as these people advise, it which would have been a huge rip off. read more

I had the best experience with my two favorite gals Cristina and Kim ,I had taken my car for the last 28 yrs to Randys auto but when he retired in 2018, I needed someone else to work on my car that is honest, reliable. So He suggested that i take the care to the "Girls" I did not know who he meant but he said Hummel like those dolls.. Oh The Hummel Girl Dolls. then i knew what he said. I went there they gave me the overall to my old girl. She is really almost a classic my 99 grand marquis, she got the perfect care from the Lady Doctors and the car appreciated all that they did for her, They cleaned her oil, gave her new brake pads, window wipers made her look spiffy. I really like bringing our car to a reliable place and honesty. They will not do something is not warranted on the car, they will call you first if it goes over the certain price. Out of curiosity I was reading how ANYONE could give Hummel tire and auto less than 5 stars. Car repairs suck. It's all rocket science to those of us who don't know what's going on and the newer models are so computer driven that mechanics have to rely on expensive diagnostic equipment. Over time I have been taken advantage of so many times by male mechanics that when I heard about Hummel I dropped right in. They have done most of the work on my cars for years. I never feel like they are upselling. Their customer service is ALWAYS spot on. This week I dropped in with some front end/steering/braking issues. It ended up being a fairly big problem and they contacted my insurance to see what portion was covered. I was SOOO relieved not to have to take the car to the dealership. They got the parts, did the repairs and had me back on the road in a day and a half. They are always so busy. I was surprised I could get it that fast. One time they could not do a computer related repair and I had to take it to the dealership and they took half off my diagnostic fees. This month I was divorced so already having a hard time, and I asked if they could come and pick me up as I live not far away. I could have ubered but I cancelled the bank account associated with the app so it all became quickly overwhelming so I asked them to do it for me. One of the OWNERS came to pick me up. It probably wasn't a big deal to them, but the effort at the time was a big deal to me. I imagine once in awhile they make mistakes like anyone else. The suggestion that they upsell is ridiculous. They knew my daughter and baby granddaughter were going to be driving the car and that I was concerned and Christine said to me...don't worry, I had them check all the things twice. I get the feeling they do that anyway. I've never had a problem after a repair. And they gave me papers for a three year warranty on one of the repairs they did. What? Like who does that? I love Hummel. They don't seem to have much turn over so you can trust the repairs, the customer service is always spot on and the owners never act like it's inconvenient to explain what's going on with your car or what you can delay if funds are an issue.
