I visited my sister for the weekend here at University of Santa Barbara and went walking around to find something to eat. I ended up at Hummus Republic and it did not disappoint!! The ingredients are so clean and tasty!! I got a bowl with their couscous and Mediterranean steak with all the toppings! I love that I didn't feel sluggish after this meal, it was very good quality. literally the best food I've ever had in IV, this is definitely something I'd be craving at home or just when I wanna eat--ever. It has so many flavors and it's really good. The workers are so nice and helpful and the service was easy. The place had a really nice patio and sitting area and it's cozy. I got Tzatziki, spicy hummus, regular hummus, garbanzo beans, cucumbers, onions, tomato, feta, corn, hot sauce, lemon and olive oil, roasted Jalepeno garlic sauce, lemon chicken, and chicken schwarma. ALL OF IT WAS AMAZING. The sauce blended delightfully with all the toppings and the pita bread was so fluffy and warm. I stumbled upon this shop through Yelp with moderate expectations (i do this with any new place for me). I ordered this for a cohort of high school teachers and, WE came away VERY pleased with our experience. I ordered the catering package and it was ALL SO DELICIOUS. After setting everything up, our expectations for a fantastic meal shot through the roof, because as the saying goes, "You eat twice, first with your eyes, and then with..." The spread was BEAUTIFUL to look at. The couscous was excellent to the taste and hearty to the bite. The salad and all the fixins (hummus, pickled onion, jalapeno garlic sauce, feta cheese, tzaziki, hot sauce, lemon dressing, diced cucumber and red onions ALL just wonderfully prepared, and PERFECTLY seasoned. The falafel was crunchy and tasty and as a meat eater, I regretted not ordering more. The chicken was delicious and I appreciated the way it was prepared (diced into small cubes). WE ATE EVERYTHING. If you like Mediterranean food, this IS a wonderful option. This new Mediterranean restaurant in Isla vista is a cool concept. I love building my own bowl and the options were great. I chose a bowl, which was large, includes a pita, and reasonably priced. I like that you can choose as many base, hummus, topping, and sauce options as you like, with the exception of proteins, which comes with two. The food quality seemed very good and fresh. I really liked the beef and chicken, both tender and tasty. The sauce option were decent, I liked the Moroccan hot sauce, which seemed like a chimichurri with a little spice. The manager came to check on us half way through, which is great service. The outdoor patio seating was spacious and comfortable. A great healthier option in Iv, which was needed. read more

I have recently been exploring the vegan and gluten-free options around town, and this place came up on my search. I was a little hesitant to order from here as it's in IV, and I don't like driving in IV. I decided to risk it anyway it since it can be difficult to find both vegan and gluten-free food that's fresh. It was definitely worth it. The hummus was very fresh, and I could tell it didn't have a lot of preservatives which is hard to find in fast food. It's a large amount of food. I had enough food for two sittings. Just keep in mind that the food does not hold up well for leftovers the next day. Since the hummus has few preservatives, it ferments and will explode. The reason I am giving 4 stars is because they got my order of sauces wrong and when ordering online it's hard to tell if the falafel are gluten free. In the restaurant everything's is clearly marked though. Definitely will be going back! read more

I was pleasantly surprised that I got 5 scoops of any flavor I wanted, so I got one of everything except the original hummus. I have been several times now and it is one of my favorite "fast" food restaurants. As a vegetarian I appreciate all the options for me. Hummus Republic is my latest obsession because the food is healthy and filling. I get that it's not the most authentic but it's delicious anyways. It is a bit on the pricy side ($12 for a pita which has the portion size of one meal) but the bowl and the wrap are pretty worth the price since the portions are much larger. The olive hummus is not good but the eggplant and traditional hummus are great. There are some workers there that really load up your pita/wrap/bowl and make you worry if it will even wrap up but then there are some workers that barely put a dab of hummus into your food. So glad this place opened in IV! Hummus republic is a build your own Mediterranean fast food restaurant that is very similar to CAVA. The food is fresh and delicious and they add so much food to each bowl!!! I can usually eat a lot but I was completely stuffed after eating less than half a bowl. I keep forgetting to take a picture before I dig in so i'll have to add one next time I go lol. for a bowl, it's essentially 4 servings (not exaggerating), so the last time I got it I just put it in the fridge and ate it again for lunch which is perfect because it tastes really good cold. I wouldn't normally be ok spending $14 for a meal as a college student but the portion justifies it. I got the olive hummus before, which I didn't really like, but the eggplant hummus was better.
