First visit to Panino for Santa Barbara first ever sandwich week. Great reception. Friendly young man took my order. Decided to try the Turkey Brie sandwich as I love both. Asked to hold mayo, as I don't really eat mayo but do like mustard; but I neglected to read that it was honey mustard on the sandwich. Unfortunately they seem to think if I held the mayonnaise I would like extra honey mustard. It was so sticky and sweet. I could not eat as is, so I took it apart and the mustard on the bread looked like pure honey. I threw away the honey soaked bread and piece of lettuce, added fresh lettuce wrap and sriracha and it was edible. I recommend them for their fresh vegetables, they were plentiful and fresh. However the turkey and Brie were less than most local sandwich establishments. Turkey was 2 folded average slices and Brie was one and a fourth slices about an inch width , I added more of my own extra Brie. I guess my take away is maybe stick with their veggie sandwich's. Not my favorite sandwich week sandwich. read more

If you're really into sandwiches and into variety, Panino is a solid option. We popped in to order takeout. There are thirty sandwiches to choose from, plus a handful of salads. You can choose from focaccia, whole wheat, sourdough, and baguette. The sandwiches are very large, so you can easily share one. While others in my group ordered sandwiches, I opted for a cobb salad. The greens were super crisp and all of the ingredients were very fresh. This was also a very generous portion. The salad was a-ok. The space is airy and casual. read more

This small deli chain has a decent menu with decent prices. Everything is fresh, and there are good vegetarian options. Service on our visit at this location was average. I had a Greek sandwich with tapenade, feta, and veggies. There was plenty of flavor. I like it. She had a chicken salad sandwich. It had good flavor, though the chicken salad was a bit watery. It soaked into bread, making it a little yucky. She did give it bonus points for being on a real baguette. I give it 4.5 stars, she gives it 3.5. That averages out to a solid four stars. read more

Depending on my taste buds for the day, Panino has either the best or the 2nd best sandwich in town. That would be the Italian combo on focaccia. Layered with fine meats and cheeses, it's thoughtfully complemented by a delightful basil aioli, lettuce, and thin cut green bell pepper and cucumber. If one maneuvers the meat and cheese correctly, every bite has the most appealing ratio of ingredients you will ever taste in a sandwich. It's like taking a bite out of the Sistine Chapel, or being able to taste the Mona Lisa. If they ever change it, I will seriously write a strongly worded letter to management. If I ever were to try any of their other sandwiches, I'm assuming they would also be delicious. The prices are a bit more than average, much as the price of a Lakers ticket costs more than one for the Clippers. read more

The Black Forest ham & tuna and artichoke hearts sandwiches are great. They came on fresh bread, and were loaded with thick cuts of cheese and fresh vegetables. The service in the shop is good, however they have a tendency to unplug the phone lines at or around lunch time which makes ordering ahead of time a challenge. One of my favorite lunch places in goleta. I definitely recommend this place they have great soups, salads, and sandwiches. My go to order is a the the half and half special with #9 and curried chicken salad. The dressing on the salad really makes it which is why i was bummed that they forgot to include it in my to go order bag by the time i got home and realized they had forgot it was too late to go back considering they close at 4. Okay, this was not exactly what I expected, but its a delightful surprise!! I decided to try something new and go with the English Stilton and pear sandwich today...I don't know why, but I assumed the cranberries and walnuts would be in a kind of chutney so when I opened my sandwich I was kind of disappointed until I took a bite. HOLY COW ITS DELICIOUS! Everyone should try this sandwich on Foccacia bread! Classic faves of mine also include the Turkey and Salami, Cobb Salad Sandwich, and Caprese Sandwich. PERFECT. Came in with my sister and we both got the half sandwich half salad combo. We both got the pear salad and it was EXCELLENT. She got the vegetarian with avocado and I got the vegetarian with roasted red pepper and goat cheese on the baguette and we were both very, very happy. Very good sandwiches! I ordered the half sandwich, half salad, and it was more than enough food. I ended up getting turkey, with sundried tomatoes and provolone, and it was delicious. The only thing I would change about the sandwich is to toast it- I'm never a huge fan of cold sandwiches unless they're actually meant to be cold (i.e., cold cut, tuna salad, etc). I would recommend panino to anyone. The one thing that kind of made me a little disgruntled is the lack of manners customers have in regards to who is standing in line. Had a bunch of people just cut me in line, which is not the responsibility of the employees, but having them know I was in line could have been helpful. read more

The ingredients are so fresh, including the bread, and the portions are large! Well worth the money, in my opinion. Oh my. It's all about the English Stilton sandwich. What is that, you ask? English Stilton is some amazing blue stinky cheese. So stinky in all the right ways. The sandwich mashes the cheese with Asian pears and such, with balsamic vinaigrette. I chose sourdough as my English Stilton delivery vehicle. It was dreamy; no meat needed. I was eating on the run, and was in heaven for the five minutes it took me to gobble it down in my car. Oh yum. However...for a vegetarian sandwich, $9 seemed a bit much. If I had the option to give this place 0 stars, I would. There was one other person in the restaurant when I came at 2 pm. The menu is too big to read through the entire thing. They would benefit from shortening it. I ordered the roast beef/french dip with au jus and sauerkraut on the side. Take my advice and stay far, far, far away from that. I think they either used some sort of a bullion cube for the au jus or made it from a very concentrated stock because one of the servers asked her coworker to "heat up some water for the au jus." Saying that the au jus was salting would be the understatement of the year. Maybe the water the used to make it was water directly from the dead sea, or maybe they just added 10 times the salt they should have, but I was dying of thirst after my first dip into the au jus. The sandwich itself was dry (it could have been saved by the au jus, but I was too scared to dip it in again). It didn't have any horse raddish, which would have made it sooo much better. Sauerkraut was not very good, either. Would not come back and would not recommend. read more

I expect more from a chain. The sandwiches are fine. Not great given the better, local, Mom & Pop options in the area and the service is sloooooow. One cook and one person behind the counter taking orders from the long line and over the phone. Also, there were multiple numbers handed out for table delivery. I was 18 but so was the table next to me. There was a mix up there and also when only 1/2 the table received the order and #18 was picked up. Guess what, it was handed right back out. Now there's 2 tables with #18 and part of our table is still waiting for some of that 18 goodness. It was a cluster. Luckily we had time but the table next to use was not happy with the service and mixups. Ordered the French Dip and was asked what bread I wanted. Interesting. Maybe I should have tried it on Focaccia. The Au Jus was seriously salty but came in a big cup. More than enough for the little dip of a sandwich if you like a sodium overdose. I may pop in again if it's convenient but not for the Dip and not if I'm in a hurry to get my food. read more

OMG...!!! I wonder what makes this place so popular. The sandwich I had tasted horrible and I was almost about to spit out. Did I choose the wrong one?? Okay, I admit that their veggeis are very fresh and nicely cut. Of course ingredients are very important for delicious food, but....don't you think the harmony of each ingredient is the most important thing regarding cooking as art or science? The dressing in my sandwich, Mix Vegetable, didn't match veggies at all. It was too sweet, but the artichoke was very sour. I felt like I was eating pickles and chocolate at the same time. I had the black and white on my visit. The sandwich was filled with olive tapenade, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, and lettuce all on ciabatta bread. The mozzarella was incredibly creamy and rich, and really the heart of the meal. The sandwiches here are filled with quality ingredients and the menu is diverse. Although I've tried a lot of items, my favorite will always be the #10: sliced chicken, provolone, basil, sun-dried tomato, greens, basil, and honey mustard. On focaccia bread. ALWAYS GET THE FOCACCIA BREAD. It is so soft and delicious here... to die for. They make their own honey mustard too, which is sweeter than standard (I approve). I've heard their veg sandwiches are also really good. Lots of variety to suite many different tastes. Staff here is always friendly and helpful. Feel free to substitute some ingredients around. Tables outside and inside. Only negatives are the price ($9-10 a pop), and they are often short-staffed around lunch time so expect a little bit of a wait. read more
