FYI ~ This restaurant is now called Hunan Garden, and used to be the old Lin's Garden. Silly me on New Year's Eve I was so excited for dinner I took no photos. Tonight I went back for more vegetable Mei Foon and snapped a photo. Absolutely so yummy! The owners are very pleasant and the food is always ready, hot and yummy. For starters, as the previous reviewer mentioned, it is called Hunan Garden. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THIS IS TAKE OUT * My neighbor had previously told me about how he liked the food here. I am fairly new to the area, so I'm still exploring and was coming back from a clinic visit and decided to walk in. I ordered the black pepper chicken and an order of the vegetable lo mein. Both were absolutely amazing. I sort of expected the black pepper chicken to be on the spicier side however, it was a very good crunchy and flavorful entrée as for the lo mein, they are perfectly balanced out noodles, and very enjoyable. The vegetables were still slightly crunchy just the way that I like them! I would definitely recommend and will be coming back. The service was also VERY QUICK. There were two more people who walked In after me and were quickly attended. Also loved that the food was just prepped so the by the time I got home it was still perfectly hot. read more

It's tough too find anything good for takeout. This is no exception. They also have an identity name crisis, is it Lin's or Hunan? There is a current menu for both places at the same address. We had to call and ask which one is correct. My wife got the cc-nut shrimp. Basically, the fried shrimp in a container buried in a cc-nut sauce. The garlic "wings" were not "wings". Instead they were DRUM STICKS with BBQ sauce on them. Definitely wasn't ribs either.Who ever heard of BBQ chix legs from Chinese takeout??? Lo mein noodles tasted over done, and the beef dish was kinda gummy and grizzly. The dining room is closed, so in the vestibule, you ring a bell. The guy opens a small window held open with a plastic piece of a childs toy. The exterior overhang was dirty looking and had a lot of old cobwebs. This place was DEAD! Didn't see anybody else come OR go in the time I was there on a Saturday evening! Talk about not paying attention to details! read more

While they may be a little overly professional and slightly lacking in table-side-manner, their food is first rate. My friend had Curry chicken, while I had Ginger chicken. Both were quite delicious and used fresh ingredients, prepared to order. The veggies were crisp. And unlike some places I could actually taste the ginger in my dish. It wasn't overly greasy either. My friend also enjoyed his Curry chicken, saying all the food was definitely in his top two list of 100's of Chinese restaurants he'd been to. (His favorite food, not mine). Since this place is a bit out of the way, I'd have to borrow from the Phantom Gourmet and pronounce this place to be a hidden-gem. They may not give you fried noodles to dip at the beginning of your meal, nor pineapple chunks at the end. But if you are in the neighborhood and like Chinese food, you owe it to yourself to stop in here. read more

Quality of food is quite disappointing. I tried it a few times since moving to the area and was never very happy. First time I opted for delivery. It took almost 90 minutes to arrive and all the fried stuff ws soggy and unappetizing. Everything else was pretty cold. So the next 2 times I picked up myself and the quality wasn't much better. Each time there was at least one item that i just threw away due to the quality. I'm not one to deal with the hassle of asking for a refund, I just take it as a lesson learned. So after 3 times in a row of mediocre food i stopped going there. Now I make the drive to other towns when I want Chinese food. read more

Not sure how else to say this... Forgive me- but this food is really lousy. Ordered Ramen- totally soggy noodles, tasteless broth, strange cuts of beef that I couldn't quite identify, odd color, off taste. Shrimp dumplings- super squishy and fishy tasting. What a bummer. Didn't even come with a sauce to dip it in. My husband always gets a basic dinner combo of one of the General such and such chickens or what not. Never before has he stopped 1/4 of the way through and said "Never Again". Today was the first time. I placed a take out order at 6:49 PM today...small order, two meals...and was told it would be ready in 35 minutes. As I write this review it is now 8:05. My wife has been waiting for, ironically, 35 minutes, and still has not received her food. They no longer do dine in so people are herded like sheep into a crowded entry way. She waited in a room full of people who had waited over an hour. One person waited so long his car battery died. This is not a joke. We had a similar issue years ago from the same establishment. It has been renamed "Hunan Garden". We were fools to assume the management had changed. It has not. They probably renamed the place to escape poor reviews for their terrible service. Truth be told, I love Chinese food. LOVE it. More than most people should and do. Much like people who are obsessed with pizza, there is rarely a wrong way to have it done. Even bad pizza is good pizza. When we moved to the area, friends told us to not go here. I figured... even BAD Chinese is GOOD Chinese. How can it not be? In terms of West Brookfield's Wok Inn, I will say that I can normally be alright with mall food court-grade Chinese food. You know you're not getting anything gourmet when it comes to the mall. It normally tastes like it sits under a heat lamp for 2 days and every imperfection is covered in salt. I would never say I *prefer* it, but it's... eh, alright if you're starving. Wok Inn scores beneath mall food court Chinese food in terms of quality. Seriously. It is tasteless, tiny in portion size and everything seems to sit in something watery. I've tried them twice in 2 years because they are the closest Chinese restaurant to me. Hands down, the worst I've ever had. I will take the worst mall offering over this. I continue to drive 15 minutes further to Panda Garden in East Brookfield, which isn't remotely fantastic either, it's about a 2 star venture -- but it's better than this. Some opinions might differ. There's no way everyone hates this place and it continues to remain open, but I can see a few of you agree with me. read more

This place offers great quality food for fair, if not cheap, prices. Although dinner entrees can range from $9-$30, lunch combos are less than $6 and dinner combos less than $10! The food is well flavored, and never over or under cooked. Portions are generous and not too greasy. You definitely get the feeling that it's a family-owned business when you walk in, but not in a bad way. The atmosphere is quiet, with zen-like instrumentals playing in the background. They offer friendly and efficient service. You'll even find the owner walking around from time to time greeting customers and checking up on them. Wok Inn is a nice restaurant, with comfortable dine in seating. There are 2 private lots on either side of the building, so there's always plenty of parking. This place is a really nice change of pace from the greasy and questionable chinese restaurants that I've encountered in the area. If you're looking for tasty asian cuisine, without having to worry about what's in your dish, you should definitely check it out! read more

I had the chance to try Wok Inn twice. Once for a sit down lunch and once for take out. If you like mayonnaise shrimp, I suggest their ivory shrimp. Instead of mayonnaise, it's shrimp covered in honey mustard... GENUIS! The inside is pretty classy. Nothing tacky and it's was a great place for my 10+ group. Wok Inn is a good restaurant in the West Brookfield area. The food is simple but tasteful and quick. I made good use of the lunch combo specials and the amount of choices available. Seating is comfortable and spacious (especially if you have a large party). Parking was not a problem. I've been going here periodically since 2008 and noticed the quality has gone downhill. I've experienced both excellent and abrupt service, great and sub par food. The dinner portions are rather small compared to their counterparts. They have a koi pond by the main walkway that presented as unkept /poorly maintained on several of my visits. The best Chinese food around here. The Wok Inn uses fresh ingredients in alot of dishes. In season veggies also. In spring many dishes with fresh asparagus! Enjoy a sit down dinner or get take out. I love the Wok! The food is amazing. Fresh, delicious, and not too salty or oily. I think they have a new chef in the kitchen, because everything we've had lately is so good! I've had the basics here - chicken broccoli; veggie dumplings; General Tso's chicken, etc. - and they're all great. I also really like the new "Wok Chop" that they've introduced. It's a fried porkchop, and it's really moist inside, but crunchy on the outside. Reminds me of tonkatsu (for those of you who like Japanese food). It goes well with a beer. The Wok has good drinks that are very reasonably priced. Everyone who works here is friendly and welcoming. This is a small family business and I'm happy to support them! read more

We had a great dinner here. Went with my mother and wife on a Saturday night. The lot was quiet. Walking in we found the place to be very clean and inviting. We were greeted promptly and grabbed a seat. From beginning to end the service was outstanding. Granted it was quiet but the wait staff was very attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was very good and the menu had a great selection. You can order the lunch combos as dinners, even though that's not on the menu. All three of us were pleased with the freshness and taste of everything. My wife ordered orange chicken that was fried chicken pieces in a great sauce. I had the Szechuan chicken that I was very happy with; tons of fresh vegetables. Worth noting that the pork fried rice was fresh and lighter than most I've had. Nothing I ordered was tasty. The prices were high for the size and quality. I tried this place when it was Wok Inn and had the same issues. Charged me for tea. Isn't that usually free? And the Wonton soup had shredded iceberg lettuce in it, like you find in a grinder. read more

I have learned that trying to find a GOOD Chinese restaurant out in western ma is a difficult thing to do. I go to school 45 min away and if I'm willing to make this drive out, then that means something. This restaurant is kept clean and in well condition. The seating allows for a comfortable and enjoyable dinner. The wait staff is kind and polite; always on point with their service. All the food that I have ordered at Wok Inn has met or exceeded my expectations so far. Every time I go I am compelled to order my 3 favorite dishes, the general tso's chicken, the seafood basket, and the BEST dish would be the IVORY SHRIMP! If you like shrimp, then you will love this dish. It consists of lightly battered shrimp covered in a honey mustard glaze = HIGHLY Recommended!!! There has not been one dish that I have been displeased with yet. The taste of the food is nothing too light, nor too strong, which is how I've found other Western Ma Chinese restaurants to be. I think the price of the food is fair, especially when compared with the quality of the food that is being served. They also have a well-stocked bar that has accommodated every drink request that I have asked for. If you like to have a drink with you meal, then the bar will definitely add to your experience. Another plus for this restaurant is the fact that there is parking right outside. I have found that most restaurants out in this part don't have a parking lot that is fitting to its customers, but Wok Inn does. Being out in Western Ma for the past 5 years and trying out many Chinese restaurants, I can honestly say that this is the best Chinese restaurant I have come across yet. I've driven by here a number of times, but never bothered to stop in. Thought I'd give it a try given the favorable reviews. I was not disappointed. The restaurant had an inviting atmosphere, was big enough (but not huge as some Chinese restaurants can be), and pretty modern looking. Staff was very attentive, and food was great. The portions were too big for my liking and when I had asked for delivery they said they had no delivery. And the business had changed too. I called the old "wok inn" and suddenly it was changed to Lin's garden. The food also wasn't seasoned very well. It was simply not that enjoyable and it even became more pricy. Maybe things will get better soon, it was I think the first week since they were in business. But yeah. Disappointed anyway. Can't help it. Wish I could leave a better review. read more

Decided to drop in and grab some food while driving on route 9. The food was great and the people were really nice and friendly. We ordered the general tso's chicken and the crab rangoons, they were done perfectly. I found out from the owner that they use the real Philadelphia cream cheese and not that cheap stuff which makes all the difference. read more

The food and service at Lin's is always incredible. Jenny, the owner and often waitress and bartender, is very welcoming and accommodating. The drinks are always perfect here, especially the Mai Tais. Lin's is one of the few places that I will eat tofu, because it is so incredible here. The crab rangoons are great too. We've been coming here for over a year and a half regularly and have not had a bad experience yet. read more

I went there with some friends for dinner. We ordered several dishes of beef, chicken, and shrimp along with some appetizers. The two dishes that really stood out to me were the sesame beef and the ivory shrimp. The sesame beef was very flavorful and had a very attracting scent to it. I'd say that's my favorite! Ivory shirmp's had this golden sauce on it but the portion was a little small. I wish I had more of those. read more

Really liking it! I was not a big fan of the old 'Wok Inn' and was hesitant to try it after the change... glad that I did! Seasoning was just right, veggies crisp and obviously fresh. Our hostess was very attentive and seemed genuinely interested in feedback. Can't wait to try more dishes. read more
