If you want your tip to actually go to your waiter/waitress, you need to hand it to them directly in cash. Digital tips all go to the owners, and an employee (possibly manager/shift lead, I'm not sure) attempted to steal the cash tip meant for our waitress by telling us she had already left for the night, while I could literally see her laying out silverware in the back behind him. We love having a family dinner here while staying close to home. I like that the menu has a good mix of classics and a little off the beaten path options. Personally my favorite is the mu shu pork! I will start this by saying, I love their food. They also give you a lot of food for the money. Normally you leave with a second meal for leftovers. I would rate them 5 for these two things. What I don't like about Hunan, is that they have a problem opening on time at 11am. There's nothing worse then looking forward to a good meal, arriving at 11:30, only to find a hand written sign on the door saying that today they're opening at 11:45. We decided to wait and at 11:50 we left. Another group did the same thing. I bet in the last 6 months I have gone to eat there 12 times and left half the time because they didn't open on time. If you're going to say you open at 11:00, then open at 11:00. If you can't be open at 11:00 change your hours to a time that you can open. read more

This place is tucked away in a strip mall. Service and food were both good. My friend and I each had the dinner special. We figured, that way we'd each get to try both entrees. The special includes soup, appetizers, the main course and rice, all for a very reasonable price. It was more food than we could eat. I enjoyed it. Placed my to go order for chicken chow mein and asked that they exchange noodles for rice. They said they couldn't do that, so had to order a small container of rice for $4 to get what I wanted. Also ordered Hunan Chicken. I live in Stockton, 10 miles south of the restaurant. Upon returning home, discovered that chicken chow mein was missing. After arguing with them (they said I didn't order it, only the crispy noodles), I drove back and paid again for the chow mein. They did discount $2 for the noodles I already received. Let me start with the good. The food was very good! I had the curried beef. Wasn't as spicy as I wanted but the meat was very good flavor and texture. My companion had the orange chicken, which she was very happy with. So why only one star? Our server sat us at our table asked our drink order then left to get our drinks. There was no drinks on the menu so I wanted to decide what to have besides water. At no time did she tell us what drink choices or come back to see if I wanted something else. She did come back to bring us water and take our food order. I am allergic to chicken and I asked if I could substitute anything for the sides that contained chicken. She just said no and made no suggestions of any other meals. I asked if I could get a plain salad and she said no, they only had chicken salad. She only offered to bring me extra white rice. Most places that is a given. After we settled on just the beef dish with no sides she took the rest of our order and the we did not see her again until we paid the bill. The cook brought our order, and after quite awhile brought us more water and the bill. It had been several years since I ate there and now I remember why. I was half way between giving a 3 or 4, and at that I want to note that I am grading on a curve for other Tooele options. Compared to SLC options this is a 3 at the very generous end. The 2 times I have been here so far I have left full and pretty happy. The rice is pretty bland, but has a good flavor, the soups are both above average and the egg rols are significantly above average, probably some of the best egg rolls at a strip mall type Chinese place that im aware of. Really fresh, light, and well flavored. The 2 entrees I've tried are the orange chicken and one that was called I think Tiny Spicy or something. The orange chicken wasn't as prominent of an orange flavor as I like, and seemed like it could have passed for sesame if they didn't tell you which one you got, but it still tasted good, and they use a good chunk of white breast meat. The tiny spicy was the same batter and meat, but with a VERY sweet sauce, I meal like it was getting harder and harder like a hard candy the more it cooled down, so much so that many of the pieces on the place would rip in half as the bottom was stuck to the place. That being said it tasted really good, but I did feel a bit sick after like I just polished off a bottle of maple syrup. the worst part of the two of them was that there was so much sauce, that the bottom inch of the fried rice was completely souped with the sauce. This is by far and away the best Chinese in the Tooele area, so there is no question that I will go here again, but as I am in Stansbury Park, it is a similar distance to the salt lake valley, so if im in the mood for good Chinese I would likely just go into the valley. Now I do have to say here that I know that the 2 chicken choices I got are like the least "Chinese" thing ever, but those are the things I like, so that is what I have rated on. Many of my co-workers love to order from here for lunch too, and I only hear good things from them. You can't go wrong choosing either the soup or the salad to go with the meal. It's next to impossible to get them on the phone to place an order, we tried 29 times tonight before we finally got someone to answer, and the entire time we were talking about what we may want instead.
